I like structure too @VO2Maxlet. However I still don't feel like I have the experience to create a plan properly. I have some folks whose plans I like and tend to use those a lot of the year, rotating a bit to keep things fresh. Sometimes I take pieces from a couple of plans and mash them together.
Summer is the one exception. It's too hot to do much besides base building here, so I use that time to be more flexible around my work schedule. But I still put my daily miles on my calendar so that I have a plan for the month. I feel like if it was up to me to do what I felt like on any given day it would get really repetitive and easier to just not do it at all. This summer I have been using the treadmill a bit more and incorporating some speed workouts, which is unusual for me. But, I'm finally getting comfortable on the treadmill. So doing those faster paces doesn't feel like I'm going to get thrown off the back! And my brain isn't tapping out at 45 minutes which I struggled with a lot last year.4 -
June total: 66.1/100 miles
YTD: 454/1200 miles
6/2: 4.9 miles
6/3: 3.1 miles
6/5: 8 miles
6/7: 6.5 miles
6/8: 2.8 miles
6/10: 6.4 miles
6/11: 3 miles
6/12: 6.5 miles
6/13: 3.3 miles
6/15: 2.6 miles
6/17: 5 miles
6/18: 6.1 miles
6/20: 7.9 miles
I opted for the treadmill this morning and did a long run that had some sections of 5-10 mins of moderate intensity mixed in. It was a tough run but I felt strong and didn't struggle mentally. I think using the treadmill more these last couple of months has helped me get used to it and I'm able to stay distracted by the guided run video more than I have in the past. And today's video was particularly good.5 -

Got 2.2 miles on the treadmill this morning before my vacation starts tomorrow. Did it in 31 minutes. I ran the whole time straight through which I’m pretty proud of as lately I’ve been more of a wogger than a runner. It felt really good, and I honestly would’ve ran longer if I didn’t have to hurry up to shower and get to work.
Signed up for a virtual 5k through work that starts tomorrow and needs to be done by the 24th. I’m hoping to get that in sometime outside over the weekend if the weather isn’t too miserably hot in the AM like it has been.

SO interesting today. I have been buying shoes online from Nike, New Balance, Puma, and all the major brands and Amazon but Mizuno is the first company that would not send a shipper for the return nor would they refund my shoes which were too small. They must be a smaller company but their policies are definitely a lot different than all the other brands I have dealt with thru the years. Anyway, I did use them once to see if I could make the size work so to the letter they have a point that they are now used. But none of the other companies have EVER denied a return. I suspect perhaps those companies are big and just write off the return vs restock? So lesson learned not to buy direct from Mizuno. They emailed me they are sending them back and their service seemed a little rude but that could just be my inference. Just to have a little fun with everyone I put a claim into my credit card to dispute the charges. I know I will eventually have to pay but I thought I would make it known about their policies.
We have had some rain bands from Alberto storm make their way inland to us in Austin but it's not been severe, just a pain to try to find the right time to walk or run since they seem pretty random and the forecasters cant really predict. I just look at radar. Hopefully that is thru now and we are starting summer.
I did see a skunk in my yard under the Martin Colony this morning. I thought it was the neighbor's black cat at first as he has been skulking around but when I yelled thru the window at it, definitely a skunk. I hope there was not a baby on the ground as I fear it got eaten. Too many babies jumping this year for some reason but sadly I have learned that is pretty much how nature goes. I used to try to rescue all of them and put them back, and they either ended up jumping again and again or they died in the gourd.
Yall are doing great with the runs this month. I am really missing the newsfeed but found a similar feed on lose it to keep up with my friends altho I will probably stay here to log and post. It does not have pictures but the software is definitely kinder. Just takes a while to get used to it.
This is one of those clouds from yesterday when I was walking in the afternoon. Not an hour later is was pouring rain for 20 minutes. LOL.5 -

Is there any reason why they took the news feed away0

@SummerSkier can each person have their own personal newsfeed on “lose it” like we had here on MFP? If so, I may get an account there too. Will still stay with the 3 groups I’m a part of here, but I agree, having a personal newsfeed for friends was really nice and I do miss it. Is your username the same there as it is here? Also, can one’s food diary be seen on the personal newsfeed (if there is one). I did like that for accountability.2 -

Loss of newsfeed has hit me hard too, I now “blog” on IG under the same handle and track on cronometer. I use MFP for groups and threads. I tried lose it! but thought it wasn’t amazing for the social component and not nearly as good as cronometer for tracking, so I only sometimes go there to prowl my old MfP pals’ discussions.5 -
I am bON on Loseit. It is taking me a little while to get used to it but their "activity" feed is similar to our newsfeed here where you see all your friends. Their "premium" is really cheap so I for $5 a month it now has some other features so it syncs your watch. You can see other's diaries and actually a little too much info but maybe I just haven't gotten the settings where I want yet. It definitely is an upgrade to MFP type software. Like going from a rotary phone to an iphone in one leap.
Sorry about the duplicate photos above. Not sure what happened.
3.29 miles today. 78 for the month out of 100 goal.

I ended up running yesterday. For about 4 miles. The first few were allotted to me trying to find someone's parking garage to use as an incline for hill runs. There are hills around me, but I have strong opinions against driving 30 minutes out to run and then 20 minutes to come back home for a 15-25 minute workout. Anyways, opinions aside, I broke up the runs in Garmin because I thought at some points I found an appropriate parking garage until the No Fun Allowed Police comes by and I have to run from them. Too many charts--popped them in the spoiler below so not to take up an entire page.Run 1
Run 2
Run 3
Run 4
Run 5 (My actual workout--Garmin Stride Intervals on a Treadmill)
I think my heart rate increased out of fear of tumbling. I increased the speed for each interval because I wanted to get comfortable with the speed. I got too scared going too slow stumbling on the front of the treadmill and I got too scared going too fast just from tripping on the treadmill. Ashamed my HR didn't shoot to Z5.
Today will be a rest day. I'm going on a road trip this weekend and we're leaving in ~20 minutes. No Stamina ITG today. Probably for the better since my fatigue has increased and my risk for injury has increased. My therapist says this is okay and to keep him updated.2 -
@martaindaleYour plans look solid. The build up is pretty intense because of the timelineyour more intense plan undersells the mileage a bit. It doesn't look like your hills/intervals day is added in because the weekly mileage is identical to the second plan.I can't remember if this is your first marathon. You mentioned training for shorter distances in your post.I'm not sure what the ITG or DDR entails. Did that say 3-5 hours?I like structure too @VO2Maxlet. However I still don't feel like I have the experience to create a plan properly
@chris_in_cal honestly, same. That my entire being resonated with the words "easier to just not do it at all."
@quilteryoyo red light runners rise! The day I trigger the camera because I was fast enough for it to think I was a car slowly going forward is the day I can happily retire from running progress to hoping to trigger a speed camera near a park because i was going over 20MPH. No judgement taken, by the way!6 -
Parkrun again today and a new PB!
Interestingly, last week I was a smidge slower but fast enough to be first woman home. Today I was 8th! An influx of speedsters!
Slowly working my way back to where I want to be, even if it is in 8 second increments.9
