I'm posting 2 runs today. Yesterday I got up a little late, but I was able to run 5.5 miles. I thought it was going to rain. My weather app said "showers in the vicinity" and it seemed a little misty when I let Pup out. But by the time I got out it had cleared up.
Today I had an early meeting at work, so I got up a little earlier and had time for 6 miles. The weather was about the same both days. 74°F and not too windy. Yesterday was nice because it was light the whole run, but today since I got out early it was still dark and I had to use my noxgear starting out. It was light when I got home though.

Nice treadmill running @martaindale . What kind of treadmill do you use?
@andja87 Congrats on your 31 min run! Enjoy your vacation and I hope you enjoy the virtual 5K.
@henridw2095 Great running. Glad the jet lag is getting better.
Nice pace @chris_in_cal !
Great job on an early morning 4 miles @mari333a . As for the newsfeed, they say it's because it was rarely used, but I can't for the life of me figure out why you would want "friends" if you don't have it. LOL I am missing it too and not yet willing to try lose it...just don't want to learn a new app at this point.
@SummerSkier I remember when I first started running, one of the shoes I tried had the policy that you could run in them inside, but if they looked used, they wouldn't take them back. So, I was surprised when Brooks doesn't care. Thanks for the info about Mizuno. I'll try to remember that if I ever branch out. That's an interesting cloud and I'm glad you didn't get any major storms come through. Poor baby Martins, but you are right. That's the way of nature.
@VO2Maxlet That sounds like an interesting workout. I'm glad you outran the no fun police. I wonder why they didn't want you running there? Enjoy your road trip! Hahaha I don't think I will ever come close to probably even tripping a red light camera.
Congratulations @ContraryMaryMary ! The burning question is, did you beat the kid again?
Great running @kgirlhart .

Posting two days. Yesterday was very busy. I helped mow mom's lawn early, before it got too hot. I did the riding mower and then finished push mowing - what mom didn't get done while I was riding. I came home, ate, took a shower and went to work at daycare from 1 - 5 pm. When I got off work, I went to see my Aunt in the hospital (she fell Tues and broke her hip and had surgery Wed - she's doing good). I left from there and played round robin doubles tennis, outdoors. It was really hot for tennis - 86F (30C) and no shade. It did cool off some about the time we finished. Good thing was that me an my partner (who is over 55 yo) beat two teenagers who are HS tennis team members. I was excited because I figured that would tromp us, but it was the other way around. When I got home, I did a driveway walk in order to keep the streak alive.
I went to the gym this morning and did their "cardio" workout - lots of leg work and things to get the heart pumping. I went to see my Aunt again. I stayed longer than I meant to because her daughter came in and I wanted to talk to her. (The daughter lives in the DC area.) Anyway, my legs were tired when I got home and I had some other things I needed to do, so I did a mile on the treadmill.

Ha! The ginger ninja was marshalling today. When I was gloating to the race director last week about beating Harry (the ginger ninja), the RD said to me, yes his mother did say he’s been under the weather. And that totally took the fun out of it. Now I have to beat him when he’s on form!!!6 -
A blast from the past (June 2023)chris_in_cal wrote:tarun_yadavA wrote:how accurate is your logging of calories btw? Both - eating and exercising.
Controversial, but I may get access to Ozempic in a couple of months. Around October I'm seeing the doctor and I think that might be on my metaphorical plate.
A year later, after following every instruction my providers gave, I just got the call and they are going to try and get the wheels turning for me to try this miracle drug. Sounds like it might be three or four weeks. We'll see.
I have lost about five pounds in this last year. (which is significantly better than gaining but doesn't feel very exciting)8 -
Hi everyone!
I had a nice 18.2km run yesterday. I wanted to go a bit further and get a HM, but a huge T storm was supposedly rolling in and I was also pressed for time. The last 3km were in the rain, but it was quite refreshing, as there was high humidity.
In Hamburg the next few days with the kids, so no running, but lots of walking around .
151.3/200km for June.6 -
@VO2Maxlet Your plan looks like it will definitely get you into marathon shape. This marathon my priority is increasing speed, so I chose a plan this time with more intervals. My last marathon I guess I was most concerned with getting my body mentally up to the distance and, although I did long segments at marathon pace near the end, which I felt was very helpful on marathon day, I didn’t do many intervals. This time I am trying to get 1x sprint/hill interval and 1x longer distance interval session in per week. I’m also trying to end many long runs at a faster pace to get more used to running on tired legs. If I realise I’m not mentally up for the intervals and I already did a session that week then I definitely turn the run into an easy session. I don’t want to burn out .5

Nice walking @daria0919 .
@ContraryMaryMary The RD didn't have to tell you that. I have faith that you can get him next time too!
I think five pounds is great @chris_in_cal .
Great running @tarun_yadavA .

Yesterday, I ran/walked 3 treadmill miles. Today, I ran/walked 3 pavement miles with humidity. This brings me to a total of 34.3 miles for June. I'm over 75% of my goal of 40 miles this month. Excited about getting these miles in. Only less than 6 miles to go until I accomplish my goal. WooHoo!
Next Sunday, I have my first race of the year: She Power 10K10 -

@ContraryMaryMary a little adds up so fast! Glad you're getting up to a spot where you want to be to consistently smoke Harry!
@quilteryoyo I was told for one of them that they've had break-ins and having their things stolen. Apparently it's pretty common to get kicked out. If I were closer to the metro area, I could just tread down the next block to another garage and repeat.
Maybe road trip wasn't a good word. I just traveled a few hours by car to a destination we're staying at for the weekend. So far so fun!
Sad to hear about your aunt. I wish her a fast recovery. Major thumbs up on the efforts to keep the streak alive!
@chris_in_cal 5 pounds lost is a lot! Every bit counts!
@Laurz9191 smart! I like the plan of attack. My mental blocks are actually accomplishing the miles, and my physical blocks are trying to maneuver getting hydration or electrolytes in me while running, not choking, and not losing running cadence. How are the sprints working out for you in the schedule?
@steviebee888 killing it! You're gonna do great!3 -
Did my pace run on the treadmill. 7 mph for the first 3 miles. I honestly didn't think I had it in me. Been about 2 years since I ran that pace. Back then I would feel really bad around the 15 minute mark and then second wind hits to finish up the last 15 minutes. This time felt strong throughout. My only issue was eating breakfast. Stopped for a bit to let my stomach digest a little more. Tried running a bit faster at 7.1 mph until I couldn't anymore (almost quarter of a mile)6 -
@quilteryoyo I have a Nordic track with an ifit subscription.
@VO2Maxlet Marathon training is a different beast for sure. One thing I took to heart from reading ahead of doing my own marathon was resisting the urge to do more. Trying to go a little faster than your plan calls for or going a little further because you're feeling good. As the miles add up so does the fatigue.
As for the hydration and electrolytes piece, start training that now. Start trying out fuel and hydration options on your longer runs, even at distances you wouldn't necessarily fuel for. If you aren't currently doing a lot of long runs where you fuel regularly, it can take some trial and error. For me it also took some time to train my stomach to handle the amount of water I needed to be taking in.5 -

I am camping this weekend with my kid at a state park a couple hours north of Houston. I woke up early to get my run done before it got ridiculously hot. I stuck with the 4/1 intervals and overall my HR stayed reasonable given the conditions. I had my frozen hydration pack, salt tabs, and 1 gel. Overall I am pleased with how this run went. It's really nice to feel like my fitness is back!

@VO2Maxlet - I am surprised you picked a full marathon as your first event. I would be terrified. My first was a HM that a friend signed me up for and ran with me. She knew I would never do one otherwise.
Also I think you asked me a while back about the Apple Watch. It has some pretty great features and they have improved the metrics for various workouts a lot. I do run Strava on it though because that is what I am mostly used too. @SummerSkier uses the Apple Watch run workout and may be able to comment on it more than me. I like the way the watch integrates with my phone and laptop so all the info is everywhere and if I don't have my phone next to me I can see who is calling or what someone is texting me on the watch. Note I was a diehard Microsoft Windows geek previously as that is all I had ever used for work and home.
@Laurz9191 - have fun in Hamburg - loved it there!
@quilteryoyo - you are one crazy busy woman! Wow! I hope your aunt continues to improve and recuperate!
@Teresa502 - I hope you can enjoy Orlando despite the heat and humidity.
@tarun_yadavA - what have you been up to? Missing the food porn!
I had treatment this week so hadn't been up to getting out until today. I still wasn't feeling great but went out anyway and while hot it was an ok outing. I am so impressed that everyone seems to be dealing with the extreme heat we are having here - in JUNE! I certainly hope that doesn't mean it will be even hotter in the coming months. I will be making a conscious effort to get up earlier to get Hobbes out for a nice walk or even a bit of running. I thought I had posted this previously but couldn't find it looking back - when I went out on the 15th it was too hot to take Hobbes so I was able to go a bit faster and even ran some segments. It felt so good to just run a bit!
