Morning all
Wow horrible night sleeping..
Rebecca ,I understand..I just don't get involved in politics ..so there's that..and only post pictures of SMiles here
Supposed to have yucky afternoon weather this afternoon. im sticking with sucking down the fluids..and I picked up Alfie..4 -
Max and John enjoyed themselves with lunch around the corner, and then Crazy Golf and an ice cream from Marocco on the beach. Not a cheap day out though!! John was swallowing a little.
Lisa - It's the same thing with all these activities. Music, various courses, art, sport, swimming, theatre club etc etc. Of course they are talented with all the wonderful opportunities they have, which must cost a fortune! There are a lot of poor kids, even in wealthy Brighton, who never get a chance to shine.
I remember having to drop out of horse riding and clarinet because my parents couldn't afford decent equipment. I did manage to carry on with drama, because it was my mother's love.

It will be interesting to see if I lose any weight here. I manage one meal a day, when Eli is napping. Its usually a sandwich. Its in the upper 90's here, not used to the heat. Drinking more water! Not as sore as I was first day. I am not physically ready to care for these two, but I am doing my best. I am numb from all the mess almost. I am resisting to clean. I never had to plow thru so much stuff, even when I cared for three kids. Husband says I should be cleaning, but like I have to choose between being able to care for the kids or cleaning. The answer is clear. Husband can say all he wants but he is home not helping.
Hugs all!

Yes, I have just tried to concentrate on just keeping them safe, feed them, and love on them. All within a chaotic mess. I need to talk with kids tonight about what they're going to do. I think watching them until Athena starts school is a bit daunting. They will still need to have a babysitter to drop off Athena and to watch Eli, so still the same time frame now, or when Athena starts. I can not be their solution.

Rebecca - Not an easy situation. And especially not when living in a constricted setting that has so much more chaos than your ordinary living environment. Just sending a lot of good thoughts, because there aren't a lot of easy answers.
Allie - All good thoughts for Tracy, too. I hope it's an easy pregnancy and delivery.
In case you're wondering what I was looking at all morning:
Four pieces done this morning, three more to do... Whee! There are reasons I do not do this to make a living.
Lots of reasons.

Stopped to see my little guy and Tracy today... he is a whirling dervish I tell you,one minute he comes over and gives you hugs and kisses and the next he is flinging things all over the place.. gotta love him though.. he was asking mommy where grandma was lol..glad I showed up ...
My SIL says my brother has a court date sometime in July and she wont be there and he will need a ride insinuating that I have to drive 5 hrs and take him to court.. I don't think so.. first of all ,I have drs appointments lined up for the next few months for myself and Doris and his son lives an hr and a 1/2 away and our cousins are about a mile away.. dont know if he will still be at the lake house then or not.. who knows.. but honestly..I have enough on my plate...🙄9 -

Just say no.4 -
Allie – how wonderful. Bet it feels good. Good for you standing up about your brother’s court date
Debbie – yea for your mom!!! Let’s hope she doesn’t reconsider
Did a body pump DVD then the water. I usually do “my” thing and then join the class when it starts. Went to CVS but they didn’t have the Cheerios that I wanted. I should have gotten a rain check. Then went to Aldi, then in the pool. My neighbor came up to return a dish I’d loaned her for the baby shower she had. Then went to Penney to pick up some more shorts, then the CVS here who didn’t have the cheerios so I got a raincheck
Rita – I wouldn’t go to a high school reunion. Same reasons, I never felt close to many of the students, only one or two
Margaret – didn’t Lisa start a group for discussing the previous election?
Lisa – I agree, politics and religion I just don’t care to discuss. I have my views, others have theirs and I won’t change it, so why get upset about it? I look to Vince to just give me the highlights, and many times I just let it go in one ear and out the other.

I have talked with son in a light hearted way, that there is a reason grandparents don't watch kids full time. We just don't have it in us! I love them to pieces though. Its that sharp incite that I haven't used in 22 years that's hard. He has researched getting signed up for a childcare representative with the state. I told him her mom needs to step up and not just me.

Barbara - it’s a shame that pets get ailments like us humans to deal with.
Heather - you do so well at writing consistently. I love reading about Max and John’s relationship. It’s so important to have that.
I look at how far we’ve come as women and really how far we have to go.
Annie - it’s funny how so many of us dislike making phone calls now. I personally don’t mind them at all, but no one in my family will talk on the phone.
It’s very hot here too and supposed to be for the next couple of weeks.
Glad your Dad’s hearing aid repair was done quickly.
I still use FB regularly. I do tend to “scroll on by” with posts I don’t agree with. I have my opinions and beliefs and feel everyone is entitled to theirs as well. I love this group because of the rules we have in place. I was raised not to talk politics or religion and I veer away from those subjects with most people.
Vicki - Have a wonderful trip.
Rita - my DH’s 40th class reunion should be this year. If they are having one he isn’t aware of it and wouldn’t be going anyway.
It would not be in his best interest to go home at this time. We looked at his Mom’s bank account on Monday and it seems his sister is playing fast and loose. The only thing we can do to help is report her for financial abuse, but his Mom would be defending her and then mad at us. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can feel we can do at this time. It makes me sick worrying for her.
I have never heard that word FIRGUN before but I love it!
Lisa - I have a friend here that believes that the doctors, nurses and pharmacists should be up on everything and it’s not her responsibility. She gets so angry when they do something. I’ve told her that no doctor keeps up anymore I don’t think.
Rodger used Align and had success with it. It was cheaper at Costco than anywhere.
Rebecca - it’s a lot to have responsibility for hours on end and the mess would get to me too. Hugs to you.
Allie - Those two months will fly by I bet.
My interview is at 10am I think I’m ready. I have printed the job posting, my resume and references. I also have some questions ready.
Michaela had her second day of ceramics camp today. She made a dragon hatching out of an egg. The technique today was using finger rubs. I’ll get a picture tomorrow of her three projects.
Then she went with me to ceramics tonight and painted these.
I think she’s going to need shelves in her room to put all of her stuff.
Except for ceramics we didn’t do much today. It’s very hot here.

It can be a bit overwhelming. I am also sleeping on an air mattress, so that's been interesting. I get maybe half the sleep I am used to.

Re Facebook
I closed my account a few months after my mom died. I wanted to do it sooner, but we used IM to chat all day because she didn't text. My well being improved almost immediately. Comparing my life to the social media image of other lives was irresistible.
Take care of yourself, Rebecca.

Today’s gratitude:Joe’s eyes were clearer, brighter and less swollen/painful appearing this morning. Tumble’s trotting with her usual vigor, not favoring any limbs. When Joe checked the storage tanks this morning they were “the fullest and clearest they’ve ever been." Target’s free return donate-in-lieu-of-shipping policy. Blessings upon blessings.
Rita beautiful salad! My mouth is watering. Thank you for “firgun!”
Lisa, assuming you can’t tolerate organic, grass fed, full fat organic yogurt with live cultures. ;} This is spendy ($41.99 at Natural Grocers), and must be kept refrigerated, but I’ve had good results with https://naturesway.com/products/fortify-optima-age-50-advanced-care-90-billion-probiotic-prebiotics?variant=43405110083798.
Tracey holding good thoughts for your interview. Hope the people are compatible, the work is as advertised ;} If you want it, you’ve got it, galfriend!
While watching a long-ago-recorded episode of Celebrity Jeopardy, saw an ad that really spoke to me. This is longer than the ad was but has more. https://youtu.be/sD-R2OzcleQ

Hello, ladies; sorry I have been MIA. I just got word that my orthotic was ready. I visited my mom and brought her a huggable teddy bear. A guy was performing for the residents. My mom was having so much fun. My mom gave me the best hug. Rose was with me and was so happy to see my mom. I was so exhausted.
I am looking forward to planning a visit with my son next month, so I was looking into things I wanted to do in New York. I want to go to the Metropolitan Museum and the Empire State Building and see a
Broadway show.
Here's an update on my patient: I don't know if I told you that my blue-eyed cherub did more gymnastics and pulled out her trach. There were no alarms. The tech went into the room to stock. She looked over, and she was blue. So they called a code. She was in PI, and now she is back and back to her busy self at 15 months. Thank goodness. We had another code that night as well. I wonder if it was a full moon?
@cityjane London, all schools wear uniforms, so those who don't have fancy clothes don't feel bad. Max looks very dapper in his suit. That pic looks like Harry and Hermione. My husband used to play Dungeons and Dragons. I saw them in action when we visited his hometown in Omaha.
@Anniesquats100 I understand your frustration, but you must tell your dad you have things to do and will pick him up when you are done. Putting our parents in a home or, in your case, Adult daycare is a complex process. I had to talk to my therapist to help me with the guilt of putting my mom in a
home. Just know I am praying for you.
@LisaInArkansas - Boy, you all get up early in the morning. 4:45 a.m. Wow, that is impressive.
@grandmallie - did you decide what to do to your hair for the trip? I want to see pics.
@Machka9 Congratulations on your new house, and enjoy the peace.
@Snowflake1968 - How is the scrapbooking going?
@auntiebk —My blue-eyed cherub loves only Miss Rachel, and I learned how to sign with her. I love that she works with speech with the tots. My son loved the Teletubbies, but I pushed other shows due to his speech delay. I agree the Teletubbies are less annoying, though. Coco Melon and Gracie's Corner are the other popular ones. Some parents do not allow us to show Coco Melon due to brainwashing.?? Gracie's Corner is so repetitive it drives me crazy!3 -
I suspect a lot of people don't use Facebook as a tool and don't make use of all the features to see what they want to see and not stuff they don't want to see.
That said I am not sure what people do use Facebook for.
There's very little in the way of politics and emotions in my Facebook feed.
It just contains the things I want to see. It's simply an information source. With a bit of my kind of humour.

If you don't use Facebook, how do you find your information?
-- events that are taking place in your area that you might want to attend (for example, on Facebook, I found out that thee is a model train show in August)
-- upcoming road construction
-- what other cycling organisations are up to
-- yummy looking low cal recipes
-- sales on at my favourite dress shop
-- wellness articles
And more!
It's a one-stop shop for me.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Debbie good luck getting your mom's roommate out!
Rebecca hugs!
Allie, I agree, you can say no. Hugs!
Tracey thinking about your interview today.
My Facebook is full of paintings, bird photos, and video clips from sitcoms. There are two political sources, but they align with me, so it's not upsetting. I'm pretty quick to block anything I don't care for.
My latest favorite painter is Kaoru Yamaha. The way he paints light is so lovely! I also see a lot of lesser known paintings by famous impressionists. Klimt often impresses me.
Yesterday I read a book instead of doing the invites for my Dad's party. I really enjoyed it - thank you Lisa! - Lavender's Blue by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer. Fascinating that it was written by a man and a woman together. I ordered the next two books. Looking forward to that!
Today is a little cooler, which will be good for horseback riding. Yay! Today's challenge is that I didn't get to buy groceries on Tuesday so we are running low on nearly everything. I will go tomorrow, when Dad is at class, but then I won't get my hair dyed. My roots are getting bad, but the horse won't care.
May you all have a great day! And may you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Busy morning. I didn't do my usual exercises because both my hips were hurting. I'm putting it down to the low pressure and humidity, or the high pollen count. My sinuses know it.
So I washed my hair, gave myself a pedicure, and went out around the corner to the butcher to buy beef and pork mince for meatballs. Picked up a few bits from the deli. Came home to find Amazon had delivered my black cargo pants that I ordered yesterday, on Prime Day. I've had my eye on them for some time. Not real cargos, more refined and silky, wide leg. Unfortunately, they are a little too long, so I have been shortening them, and have finished one leg.
First I mixed up the meatball mixture and put it in the fridge, and I've just now rolled all 32 of them and got them in the oven.
We will have 8 between us for dinner with tomato sauce and peas. Wholegrain spelt spaghetti. So 3 more dinners in the freezer. Hooray!
The young man in the butcher had trouble doing the maths for my instructions of 1 kg with two thirds beef and one third pork. I gave him the numbers, but he didn't get enough pork in there. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxx1 -
mcmillonmail wrote: »@Machka9 Congratulations on your new house, and enjoy the peace.
Not entirely peaceful yet. Still a lot of work before we complete the move. We've got to finish moving the basement from the previous location into our storage unit. And so much unpacking!!
Although, that said, I have actually hired a cleaning company to do the end of lease clean because I just did not want to do it. I've also hired a company to do the carpet steam clean and a company to do the pest removal. I will be hiring yet another company to do the window ... maybe I'll phone them tomorrow.
BUT there are moments where we sit and enjoy.
Packing, moving, unpacking ...
