Today’s gratitude: blue skies, mild 60F temps.
Pajama day, couldn’t drag my lazy butt outside despite the glorious weather. Made brown rice, prepped many more bean salad for tomorrow’s deck and dance party, started goat cheese for Sunday, worked on bathroom sink drain, grilled chicken breast and stir fried snow peas for dinner. After a little snooze, got up and Jeopardy walked to make step goal. Tomorrow will pull up my big girl jeggings and try Zumba at the gym. Hope the fun and endorphins outweigh the embarrassment.
Heather both hips? Oh no! Hope the weather improves and pain abates. Hard news from your brother ((hugs)) for all.
Machka I get local news from our weekly newspapers, the gals at line dancing/church, and the NextDoor app. Mostly use FB messenger to keep in touch with goddaughter and nephews, FB to get event details. Occasionally an update from an old work acquaintance pops up.
Monique your NY trip brings back fond memories of my first trip there in 1967. We did all that are on your list plus Jack Dempsey’s. We alternated a fancy dinner one night with deli snacks in the hotel room the next, and my favorite was the night we had roasted pistachio kernels, cheese and port wine Any idea why the alarm failed your blue eyed cherub acrobat? Terrifying.
Lisa “slept more than 8 hours last night” Wondrous! What an improvement. ((hugs)) How to you shut off FB ads?
Lanette what a relief the vet techs shaved Kitty. Can Joe the orthotics maker adjust it while you wait?
Tracey love the “Patches and Grammie adventure”. You and KJ are so inspired with your littles..
Rita I’m impressed with the variety and your portion control. Bravissima! With you about the caviar  :noway:
Pip I see Yogi at the ready in that photo
Sue that “automatic” heating pad for your barn cat – way clever!
Michele I’m envious of your neighbor’s blueberries. They freeze really well
Rebecca my mouth is watering at your salad and additions. Liked Machka’s idea about you and Athena swapping sleeping arrangements. With your fasting you really really need your sleep.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Just got back from my pre op check. Just MRSA and bloods this time. Quick, and she called me in twelve minutes early at 8.48!! Of course, I didn't sleep well, and I was awake extra early to get ready. John did me early breakfast. I did smarten up for the appointment, just for fun really, in my summer white and black mode. I even wore some pearl earrings that I haven't worn in 15 years! Well, I enjoyed myself.
I asked if I could pay for the op at the desk, but she wasn't keen, so I rang up when I got home to pay by debit card. What a palaver! They had a new system, which had to be hooked up to my phone so I could enter the numbers. She clearly hadn't done it before, so I was put on hold several times, with Pachabel's Canon at top volume. But all done now.
I just have to go in on Tuesday for another blood group check. That will be my fourth one!
I had to use my visualisations to avoid thinking about my bruv all night, but between that and the early start and the op coming up, I was very restless. I did read for a while.
We are currently experiencing a mini heat wave, with high temperatures today and over the weekend. Not my bag, but I can lie down in a darkened room with the fan on.
Think I might have faux caviar and crême fraiche blinis for dinner tonight, as it's so hot, along with Iberico Belotta ham. That is our usual celebration meal, but I just fancy it. John has made some fabulous stewed plums.
Lots of love from Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
LONG day!
Walked
Caught bus into city
Walked
Picked up moving truck
Drove to rental house
Spent the next 4.5 hours loading stuff into the moving truck & cleaned the bathroom
Walked to get a quick lunch in the middle.
Drove to storage unit
Dropped off most of the stuff
Drove to our place
Unloaded most things
That took us 10 hours in total.
Walked 2.2 km ... but did a whole lot of additional walking back and forth between house and truck.
Plus a whole lot of lifting and carrying.
My feet hurt.
Everything is out upstairs and quite a bit is out of the basement/garage.
But the basement/garage is a bit of a disaster. I'm not sure what happened. I hadn't been down there in quite some time. Last time I was down there, it was a bit messier than I like, but when I walked in there a couple weeks ago, I was actually horrified. It looked like something out of one of those hoarder shows. There was stuff everywhere - like knee deep everywhere! And as I started to dig through it a bit, a lot of was just rubbish.
As I said, I'm not sure what happened, but I suspect that as my husband looked for packing material, boxes, etc. so we could pack stuff upstairs, things got tossed everywhere. I also suspect it's just another example of how he is unable to keep up with things.
Since then, he did get rid of some of the rubbish so that when I waded in today, it wasn't as bad. But even so, I had to clear a path before I started hauling bins out.
And we get to do it all again tomorrow.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Monique thanks for thinking about my Dad. He had a slow moody day yesterday, but he seemed to pick up when the sitter was here. She is a very upbeat and cheerful person and fun to have around.
Lanette yes trimming a pet is a nuisance both ways. Getting the right scissors and keeping it sharp helps a lot. I learned to snip at a mat in little tiny bites, so it doesn't pull his hair so much. Sometimes I cut off the bulk of the mat to release some and so I can see, then I trim the remains in a separate pass. Teddy's ears especially seem to go from clear to a lumpy mess overnight.
Rita caviar is good but mostly just tastes salty. It pops in your mouth in a weird way. I think I like oysters better. Your bottle cover is cheerful and cute!
Heather so sorry to hear about your brother's cancer on top of diabetes. Most worrisome. How old is he? Hope he is not in pain.
Rebecca sounds like you are adapting somewhat. Athena will remember this. Hope your sleep improves.
Sue yes fighting fatigue is overwhelming. Hope you feel better.
Tracey glad the interview went well.
Barbara good luck on the Zumba class. Remember they design these things so the regulars don't get bored, which means it's normal not to catch on to every step right away. I always have to work up to full participation.
Machka sorry your basement was discouraging. But it's actually rather a smart choice of a place to save energy. You do so much!
I made it to Friday! My groceries lasted, even without shopping on Tuesday. Dad has class today so I will be able to shop. This was the first time I was tempted by the home delivery service, but we made it through. Yay!
Today I need to invite more people to my Dad's birthday party. I've been meaning to do this for days now. Gotta get it done.
Have a wonderful day my friends! May you all be happy and healthy and safe and free!

Morning all, as another sunny day dawns in Arkansas... not AS scorchy here, which is nice, highs projected in the mid-80s (30c). Supposed to be like that for a couple weeks. Very much appreciated...
Also appreciated was nine hours of sleep! One quick scamper to the littlest room at 3 a.m., and right back in bed. Soooo awesome. Don't know if it will last, but am enjoying it. Every hour asleep means healing instead of hurting, and I'm very grateful.
Rita - Loved the colors on your bottle. Beading of any kind for me was one-and-done. Tried it, but it wasn't my thing at all. Well done to you for doing it! Loving the food porn and the lists of days. Always interesting.
Machka - Sounds like you're at that very tough stage in a move when you're mentally over it, but you're not done yet. No fun. Hope your next day of it is a better day and a bit less exhausting.
Sue - Speaking of exhausting - it's soooo frustrating when all you do is like three things and your body says, "OK, you can sit down, or you can fall down, and you need to decide right NOW which one that's going to be." Thinking about ya - and about to be there with ya, as I need to go do a little shopping this morning. Doing them in order by priority, as there are five places I want to go, and a fair chance that after the third one, I will decide to go home instead. 🤷🏻♀️👀🙂
Heather - Glad your necessary steps to the next surgery are moving apace. So frustrating on the payment thing. You would think they would consider it important enough to actually make it easy for people, but they don't always.
Tracey - I'm sure you'll do really well with "them upstairs." You know how to reassure them of who you are and what you will bring to the table. The best line I ever gave, and that I was told later was part of what swung getting the job was that I wanted it to be the last place I would ever work--to give my all to that organization.
Speaking of which, I'm trying to get it sorted out with my electric company, who also supplies my fiber optic Internet, as they're moving to a "New! Easy! Just for You!" portal. I was fine with the old one, but now I've had to pre-pay to keep from tripping over their issue that none of their automatic payments will be paid after July 23, and won't move to the new portal. Inevitably, I had one set for July 25. Plus, it won't even recognize customers until they re-register with the new site, and everyone will have to set up their automatic payments all over again. So... I prepaid for my Internet this morning (and it's gone through my card already) and went in and canceled both auto payments, just in case. That way, I've got two weeks after their transition to go in and get it sorted out on the new site.
Life in the computer age - not nearly as easy as they predicted in some ways, and much easier in others.
Hope it is/was a good day. Time to hop in the shower and see afterward how much I can accomplish before I need to lie down.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Good morning ladies!
Mat trimming on our furbabies.... Rosie the schnauzer doesn't mat like Sophie (schnoodle) used to, and since they'd hit the groomer every 10 - 12 weeks, I used to not worry about it much. When Rosie was younger, she'd still get mats in her mustache and beard tho. Now I just have the groomer leave that facial hair pretty short. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions for how to keep Kitty warm this winter. For now I'm kind of playing it by ear - not sure she'll last into the winter but she might outlive me! When I was mat trimming on Kitty, I'd use super sharp little sewing scissors and often just cut off the top of the mat similar to the way Annie suggested unless there was a clear line of demarcation from the skin. And even then, just a small bit at a time. Did I mention the vet's office put a muzzle on Kitty when the girls were shaving her and combing her out? Brilliant idea!
Tracey - the recovery slippers/shoes I wear are Oofos. They have done something with the sizing in the past year or so. I used to wear 9's, but the latest pair of 9's I've gotten from them are huge and too sloppy. Wish I would have started wearing them immediately, I had them stored in the closet and it's way past the return window. Hope they'll be OK in the winter if I'm wearing heavy socks. Otherwise I nearly walk out of them and it's too easy to lose my balance.
Even Joe the orthotics guy said they should have been at least half a size smaller. I haven't called to make an appointment to get the orthotics tweaked yet - will try them in another pair of shoes with different weight socks to see if that makes any difference. Want to be as specific as I can when I go back in with them. Not sure if he can tweak them on the fly or if he'll need to take them someplace to work on them. I'll find out what the process is when I call to make the appointment.
I need to leave here by 10:30 today to make lunch with friends in town by 11. It's overcast and kind of damp here right now, but since I'll just be shearing off dandelions it should be OK if I can hope on the mower IF they open up and show their little yellow heads for me by 9. Otherwise, it's probably tomorrow if they don't go to seed by then.
I've been on the go every day this week. Ugh. Why is it that any break in my my normal daily routine - especially when it interrupts my getting things done in the morning when I have plenty of energy - seems to get the whole day out of whack?
Looking forward to next week - so far, only Rosie to the vet on Wednesday morning and I don't have to take a shower and dress up beforehand. A clean sweatshirt is dressy enough for that!

The bottle holder was a kit I found at Hobby Lobby. The pattern directions were very unclear so messed up part of it-the part not shown— until I got the hang of it. Thinking about it, I should have used my bottle cooler for the size so I could use it over that. I’ll see if I can make it fit.
Well, I blew it yesterday with eating so no pictures. DH wanted foot long chili dogs from Sonic yesterday. Well they were buy one get one free so I had one too. He made a potato salad with oil and vinegar instead of mayo (egg whites in mayo make me sick) and I splurged and bough us both these tricolor crushed ice and strawberry pieces drink they had for summer. Hot dog was disappointing but the rest of it was great! Then had fudgicle, the last piece of my keto block, the last piece of chocolate truffle my DH was holding, and a handful of mixed nuts. Not extremely bad, but way too many calories. Back to it today.
Next I worked the rest of the day on my WD MyCloud Home with all our movies on it. I wanted to get it working again so we could watch movies we have on it instead of paying for them online. Took a while but I was successful. I only used it the one time I moved all the data from my old MYCloud when the hard drive went south. Once I figured out it worked differently from my old one, got it working quickly.
Today need to go to PO to pick up part of my Prime Day order. I have a new smart TV for DH, and a new Kindle Paperwhite for me. My old one is 7 years old and will go to DH who probably won’t use it, but he doesn’t want me to return it for a discount on the new one. He does that if I update my iPads too. He now had 3 of those, I only have the one I am using right now!! Oh, well…..🤪

Good Friday!
First the kittens are awesome hellions! The quietest they have been in weeks was the 24 hours they slept after their shots! The very said that was extreme so will give benadryl before next ones. Cali is 2.5 lbs. Tory is almost 3 lbs. They bring me such happiness!
Last weekend we did a car show an hour north. Won a top 50 award. Then over to nephew's around the corner for his wife's 40th birthday party. It was a hot day, but still did some line dancing. On Sunday, we drove to Rising Sun Indiana for a car show. Got a Best of Show for our category. About 1.5 hour drive one way. Monday was Detroit for DH's eye appt. That is 4 hours one way. Found out doctor is retiring. Hopefully can get things switched to our eye doctor here. Lots of driving!
My eating sucks, but making the best choices I can in the moment. CPAP okay, but now feeling tired lots. Sleep tracking via fitbit no different, but am down from 16 episodes a night to 5.
Caught up on work stuffs and home stuffs for now. At work now.....have to make a presence at a funeral this afternoon. A friend's son in law (45) passed of a blood clot last week. The daughter now has a 13yo and twin 9 yo boys to care for.
Healing thoughts for those sick or recovering!
Hugs held extra hard for those dealing with deaths and illnesses of loved ones!
Grateful you are all here!
Much love,

Jake's visit with the cancer doctor on Zoom was short and great. His lab results showed that the new chemo was working very effectively and his numbers were much better. He gets the delivery today of the pills for the next month.
Slept late this morning so had a shorter than usual walk before coming home to get ready for my dance class with my friend. I love to dance and this is a highlight of my week. We have to dance with the door closed because Annie wants to come in and dance with us and becomes a dangeroustripping hazard.
Kylia, I was just thinking that it had been awhile since I'd seen you so glad to see your report of happy kittens and some adventures for you.
Homemade chicken soup with rice today for lunch. Yummy.

I used a packet of cauliflower rice to make a salad with everything I could find in the veg drawer in the fridge. Worked out perfectly.
For some reason I was hoping for champagne to go with our celebration meal, and John obliged. We toasted my bruv and wished him well.
My son has just rung back after I texted him to tell him the news. He is the one who always drives me over for the family celebrations, like the wedding, as John doesn't want to go.
Will have to tell my elder son too.
Oh well. That's life if you are privileged to live long enough. I could have been dead several times and I'm sure many of us are the same.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx8 -

Second wakey-wakey from the sunshiny South...
Made it through four stores, and the 5th one was taken off the list after my good morning call with Corey - he's taking the 29th and 30th off to give him a four-day weekend, and planning to re-clad the walls under the carport. I swear, I encouraged him to just TAKE DAYS OFF, but he's still in that stage of his life, so oh well. 💪🏼
At any rate, I can get everything delivered, including the lumber I need to build out my pantry shelf, rather than trying to pick things up in my li'l Kicks.🚗 Which CAN fit an eight-foot long board, but not one that is also four feet wide. 👀😁😲 I'm good at fitting things in my car, but I'm not magical!
Heather - Good to see your equanimity return. Easier to say than to do, perhaps, but it can be done. I hope they can keep any pain under control for your beautiful bruv and reign those cells in very quickly. You know better than anyone that cancer isn't necessarily a death sentence.
Barbie - So pleased Jake's reports are all good, and that things are proceeding well for him. Looked up the book you cited, and the author, and he's got some really interesting articles available on his website, eastermichael.com. Nice looking man, too. And a dog lover, apparently...😁
Barbara - Missed the bit about Joe, had to go back, so pleased his eyes are better, and glad your water situation is in good shape once more!
Lanette - You asked how long I'd been quilting, and the answer is 40 years. My sis still has the first quilt I ever made, for my nephew with Down's Syndrome, and I had to ask her how old he is, as I made it for him before he was born. She's supposed to take a picture for me when she can drag it out of her storage for me. I made other ones for her babies when they were born, as well, and she's promised to try to find them all and get pictures of them. If she didn't live all the way across Oklahoma, I'd be rustling through her stuff. It may take her a year! 🙂
Organ recital:At my doctor's suggestion, I have been using a minor dose of loperamide each morning for about a week now to slow my gut down to something more reasonable. Unlike other times, I haven't had that massive backlash two days later, just something coming close to regularity. I am mildly hopeful, and it is lovely to have hours at a time where I'm awake, but don't have to spend them in the bathroom. I'm remembering how my old life worked, and worked well, the one I didn't even think about when it worked well. Fingers crossed it continues.
On the other side of the coin, also got notification that the deferred piece of the VA puzzle that I worked through the first half of the year has been sent to yet one more health organization. I don't have to do anything, they are going to work simply from my records and various tests over these last few years to decide if anything will be added to the rating I've already received. Nothing can be taken away from what's already there, this is purely about whether my issues with my right ankle are sufficient to add to the mix. No idea how long this decision will take. Should be interesting, though.
Anyway, I got home, got almost everything put away, and after I shoved a little bit of lunch in, laid down for the inevitable nap. And here we are, two hours later. Whee! I certainly hurt less than I did when I laid down. Fascinating that I can sleep for nine hours and still need two hours sleep in the afternoon. Not arguing! Just commenting... I swear! 👀🙂😲
Later, y'all,
Love,

Lisa - from the outside looking in - you rest when you are hurting, and often wake in a better/calmer place, I wonder if it is there is so much healing that needs to be done to get your body back to it's balance that the extra rest is not so much "I'm tired" as it is "I need repair time:....
kim in n. california8 -
Kim - Thank you! I love the idea that my body is repairing and rebuilding the places that I've worn down so much over these last few years while I nap. Calm is such a lovely place to be these days, and so much easier to reach when I'm rested.

I have decided, to do what I can do..I know my kidney function has me at a disadvantage for exercise, as I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.. but I will soldier on.. and keep eating well and plugging along..
My hairdresser said that the grey hair will make me look washed out and I should keep the color I have.. and maybe just get that cut.. you all saw the pictures what do you think?
I value your opinions5 -
Allie - I like both ways, and you can always go gray later if you choose. I think you should keep your current color and try that cut. I think more than anything else, you just desperately need a positive change... so take it. As far as the rest, you saw what Kim said to me. Sleeping is healing, and you need to get as healthy as you can. I'm proud of you for continuing eating habits that are healthier. Hope the results from the echo are good...
