@Zaxa2021: I am so sorry for you and your boys and hope that there are good treatment options for whatever they will be going through. Good for you coming back here- it's so easy to forget ourselves and our needs when faced with difficulties, and taking care of yourself will make life better for all of your family. Take good care of yourself <3

@UTMom81: I know you've had so much worry about your dad, and no matter what age or stage, it's a big shock to get that diagnosis. He's made a brave decision and I hope that he gets care that helps him feel the best he can. I'm thinking of him and of you as you face this together... <3

@UTMom81 You’re a wonderful daughter. Relish this time with your father. When I was caretaking my parents it was the most difficult/ trying time of my life… by far. But also the most poignant, filled with loving tender moments.

@skyleen75. Boxing?! Gosh I wish I had 10% of your energy. Congrats on the long-awaited whoosh/breakthrough!

@musicsax. Lovely photos celebrating family/community. Thank you for sharing.

All: feels trite (for me) posting about nutrition and striving for health when such hardship is surrounding so many here. Praying for courage and peace.

Just tried some konjac noodles for the first time, quite tasty! Looking forward to adding it into other meals!

@Worthyhopper I use them when I make my spaghetti and am so glad I found them too. Great whether you are following low calorie or low carb. The brand I use is called Magic Noodle. It's important to rinse them before cooking but otherwise, they are truly a great alternative to pasta and come in several different types including fettuccini. Thanks for bringing it up. Others may want to try them for sure!

I’ve been MIA the last few days, been so busy!! We have been at The British Transplant Games; little DGS took part in the under 5’s events, DH & I volunteered. Such an amazing heartwarming event for transplant recipients, donors and their families, all of us there have so similar stories, it is one big family.

@musicsax How well I remember the many many prayers we both whispered and shouted during his transplant situations(s). I love the updated pic. He's beautiful!

    Happy birthday to your DH!

    08/04 -189.2- (Trend weight 189.8)

08/05 -188.2- (Trend weight 189.6) I had to leave early for the blood work today out-of-town so I’m posting late. OMAD today but it was restaurant food. I had a bit of a scare while shopping. Bad sugar drop because it was before I ate. I had to buy something sweet but it helped get me through until I went through check-out and could drive to lunch. Lunch was big due to the food/glucose insecurity but the good side is that I was too full for any dinner. The work crew will be back tomorrow morning very early. Feeling very tired tonight but still feeling elated about the scale drop. I hope that scale is still my friend tomorrow. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little (okay, a LOT) worried about this week as 3 out of 5 of the weekdays I will be traveling.

08/06 -189.2- (Trend weight 189.6) I did end up eating a very late dinner last night (about midnight). So I’m flip-flopping that same pound back and forth. I travel Wednesday which will probably affect Thur. weigh-in. I also travel Friday which will likely affect Sat. weigh-in. It will be a volatile week but I will try to make wise food choices since the exercise front will be greatly affected. I really, really, really would love to do good this round in spite of it all.

@Zaxa2021 Regarding the water heater - I would check your lease and with legal aid to see what the law is where you live. Landlord should be responsible and it may be that you can deduct cost of repair from your rent. Our renter neighbors went without a/c for a week last summer - not a good thing over age 87 and temp over 100 degrees.

Thanks for the advice! Our rental company is taking care of it, and so far has been reasonably timely about it. My frustration is just having to rearrange our schedule and appointments to accommodate when the workers will be here. But I realize it is a small inconvenience and I may be (probably am) overreacting. It's just a busy week.
