Yesterday I did not log or post. It was the 20th wedding anniversary for hubby and me (although we've actually been a couple for 29 years). We celebrated by going out for brunch, then headed a little north to the zoo & adventure park. It was Senior Citizen Day hahaha. We already are zoo members, but the canopy tour was free that day, so we decided to try it. I'm afraid of heights, as is hubby, and walking on the suspended bridges was shaky at times, but we both did great. Sharing several photos:
I was hanging on at all times!

    1) Walked dog 4.16 mi :sunglasses: happy dog & happy me
    2) Grocery shop / make hummer food & refill feeder / stuff around house? / other?
    3) Concert at botanical garden (popular area band & one of my faves) 6:00 / purchase supper at garden / 1 adult beverage

I decided yesterday not to log bc too much guesswork with restaurant for brunch. Today I'm eating brunch leftovers, plus purchasing supper from local vendor at the garden, so lots more guesswork. I'll log food again starting tomorrow.

    JFT Thursday 22nd

Log everything ✅ but some estimated
    Stay in the green ❌
    No snacking ✅
    PF exercises ❌
    General exercises ❌
    Walk? ❌
    Food shop ✅

I was prepared for it to be a good day, I had even pre-logged my evening meal. Then plans changed and instead of eating alone, there were 8 of us. My meal for one wasn't going to cover that, so it was a visit to the chippy! Chaotic but fun.
Today I'm going out for lunch with my sister-in-law, so will be estimating again.

    JFT Friday 23rd

    No snacking
    PF exercises
    Walk in evening

@cschmitz110515 Happy Anniversary! THat looks like a really nice place you visited.
    JFT Friday 23rd

    No snacking ❌
    PF exercises ✅
    Walk in evening ❌

Lunch out, had fish and chips, didn't eat all the batter. No dessert. Lovely long chat. Gave up for the day when I got home and snacked instead of eating anything for a meal.

Not going to set goals for the weekend, but will try to keep it sensible :)

    JFT
Get my workout in early-took yesterday off and I can tell already I am struggling with motivation this morning..

    Get to the grocery store
take the dogs for a walk
maybe stop in at some pawnshops while I am in town and try to find a weight bench for the new workout programming I will be starting in Sept
get the house cleaned up a bit
    meal plan for next week..

(likely this list will take me both weekend days to get done.
We had a big storm last night and lost a tree in the pasture, took out one of the shelters but no one was harmed. thankfully

Happy Saturday! Went to grandson’s first football game of the year last night. Was so nice to get out there with family and cheer the team on! Seems too soon for high school football but it is already the end of August! Holy crow! Where did the summer go?

Today is preseason Packer game here in town at noon. DIL offered us tickets but I don’t think I could handle the heat. Planning to bake and make pasta veg salad today and after the Packer game, probably go do some water walking in my so. And DIL’s pool.

    Have a great day!

@cschmitz110515 happy anniversary! The zoo pics are great! You look so good! I haven’t been out to the zoo in years…had no idea they had the rope bridge. Looks like we need to take a ride one of these days…. Thanks for sharing!

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26. Ppl
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
      * moussaka America's Test Kitchen tv show ~ very tasty, nice size portions & filling, though complicated with four distinct layers & many prep steps ~ nice to have an alternate eggplant recipe
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):

      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day
      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:

    Hey everyone!
I know I've been quiet but I have been reading everyone's posts!
I've just had some mad busy summer.

We cancelled our holiday to Devon. Wasn't an easy decision to make but firstly we knew we didnt have enough money to cover everything. Well we had enough money but we would have had very little savings to come home to if we went. And we weren't really okay with that. Then we saw that the weather wasn't the best. So we were stuck with potentially having a wash-out holiday and we wouldn't have been able to take the kids anywhere else.

So we cancelled but used the same amount of money we had allocated for days out.

So we went to Blackpool as our first day trip! Kids had a really good day, alot of walking. Had a slight hiccup with the car but it got sorted in Blackpool. We went to the arcades, let them go on a ride each. And went to McDonald's for lunch.
We went on the BEST day though. Because it was Blackpool Air Show!! So we got to see the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain, Albatross, Wing Walkers, the Spitfire and last but not least.. the Typhoon!!

Second day the kids wanted to go the beach as the tide was in at Blackpool.
So southwards down the coast there's a beach called Lytham St Anne's.
We drove there, early again to get a space. Got there for around 10? Parked up, had a wander through the town. Got some Fish and Chips which turned out to be awful but hey-ho. Start walking to the beach and you can't actually see if from where we were parked.. so we're walking down this boardwalk to the beach, it looks soggy, mucky, there's barely any water and it's Marshy to hell. I remember thinking "this does not look like it did on Google photos"

We get to the end, stand there for a minute. Marley takes one step onto the "sand" straight onto her butt, caked in this weird sand/clay/mud mixture?
We walked back up the boardwalk. Stressed to F. Asked at the RNLI and they said everyone makes this mistake.. it's 2 miles down the road.
No problem.. except every parking place had been taken! (Remember I said we had to get there early) We had to park on a residential street about 20 minutes walk from the beach. We got there, finally chilled out and had some fun. But the sea was miles out again!! But they had an outdoor paddling pool (I think for that reason) that all the kids can go in so we promised them water and we delivered water 😂😂 and we also got to see all the Air Show again because it was only one beach down from Blackpool. We could even see the Pleasure Beach Rollercoasters when we were driving back out.

Next day trip was Alton towers. Not getting into this one. By lunchtime I was screaming in guest services for them to rectify my day or give me a refund. Got a refund though 👍😂
The disability discrimination ash faces was disgusting and the queues were stupid long. We estimated we would get on about 4 rides by the end of the day for £126.

And then finally the refund then enabled us to take the kids out one last time to make up for Alton towers and we took them to Chester Zoo. And it was the BEST day by far!
A neighbour of ours went the week earlier and there was a new enclosure for snow leopards, but no leopards. And we got to see the new Snow Leopards! They were only little!! I'll post some pics after, doesn't work from the app anymore!

But yeah, sorry for the long long long post.

Had time to post because I'm poorly today, so just sitting on my butt. Dropped ash off at the gym, went to Asda for some anti-diarrhea tablets (yep got both ends going,😂)
I got there at 10.10am, grabbed a drink and the tablets. All the tills we're shut. Apparently due to some Sunday law they can't actually serve anyone til half 10. So I'm thinking oh heck my butts not gonna wait 20 mins and I can't leave and come back in 20 mins. So I put the drink back on the shelf and had to stick the tablets up my sleeve and get outta there! I feel bad but my situation was an urgent one 😔
Starting to feel better already though

    Miss you all anyway
One more week of the holidays left and then the kids are back in school and I can get back to some sort of routine! X

@Bex953172 - wow , what a time and the ups and downs for lots of memories. (good and bad) It sounds like the good outweighed the bad nonetheless. Sorry your feeling poorly. Emergency situations call for emergency measures I suppose. Hope your feeling better soon.

@Bex953172 Wowie Bex!!! Sorry for the upsets & you feeling ill, but I had to laugh at your descriptions. Still good times were had. You make me think about how my poor stay-at-home mom must've felt with 5 littles all summer long. No wonder we were always sent to swim classes, summer school, city park programs, library programs, you name it. But we also did a lot of family stuff, like picnics, tent camping, canoeing, fishing, bicycling. Bet you can't wait for the start of school. Feel better soon!

Recap 8/24 Sat. ~ planned rest day (5 walks already this week)
    1) Salmon & veg for supper / log all food / net calories green / 80 oz. water ~ I was over net calories & short on water, but daily w-i was same as day before... I'll take that :p
    2) Farmers market / bloom boost in flower pots & water other planters / prep more bloom boost jugs from rain barrel / rinse/refill both birdbaths / fill another gallon jug from rain barrel / wash dishes / put papers in recycling bin for pick-up next week / call Mom <3 / log on new internet acct & change temporary password / digital declutter / read / other? pulled weeds from landscaping rock, due to holiday weekend pending emailed to offer help on day 2 of funeral luncheon duties, RSVP'd regrets for T&D's 40th wedding anniversary party in adjacent state (I was part of the wedding party, can't believe it was that long ago) TA-DA!

JFT 8/25 Sunday ~ hot & humid today, will be even worse M & T ack! May have to wait on dog walks a few days.
    1) Church 9:00
    2) Went for brunch w/ hubby & decided not to guesstimate for food log, but I limited portions & kept damage to minimum (I think) / eat light supper (easy to do when so hot out) / drink more water!
    3) Something productive? Drowned more of the nasty Japanese beetles, pulled a few weeds, more digital declutter. Anything else?

Lazy day at home but I already pulled some more weeds from rocks this morning GRRR. I've noticed if I just do a small section at a time, it starts to add up. And not so hard on my back or knees. Yay.

Yeah this year we put the kids in summer club too. So on Tues/Weds and Thursdays they were at a club. Due to our circumstances we actually get "credits" for half-term activities. And because it took me ages to figure out how to actually use them I had loads that had added up! And 1 credit was one day at the club.

So 10-2pm on them days the kids were there. It was a god send. It meant me and ash could go gym together and also get a food shop done. And get any other adult stuff done without having to drag the kids round with us. And it gave us a bit of a break each week!

Recap 8/25 Sunday ~ hot & humid today, will be even worse M & T ack! May have to wait on dog walks a few days.
    1) Church 9:00
    2) Went for brunch w/ hubby & decided not to guesstimate for food log, but I limited portions & kept damage to minimum (I think) / eat light supper (easy to do when so hot out) / drink more water! :s not a great day, food or water-wise
    3) Something productive? Drowned more of the nasty Japanese beetles, pulled a few weeds, more digital declutter. Anything else? Good enough! TA-DA!

JFT 8/26 M ~ Heat advisory day, "feels like" temp currently 98F (37C) so no dog walk today. Tomorrow likely a repeat.
    1) Grill brats & canned baked beans for supper / log all food / net calories green / 80 oz. water
    2) PT exercises / min. 7500 steps
    3) Usual M garbage chores / clean Kitty's hallway / other cleaning? / read / declutter 15 min. / other?

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    66 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]
    February: 6 days x1wk, 5x1, 4x1, 2x1 [2 wks overnight trips to visit parents]
March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]
May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]
    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x2, 3x1 {a lot of very hot/humid days}
    August: 5 days x1wk, 4x2

      • In 2023 I logged 726.88 miles, or 1,169.8 km & completed yearly challenge 11.14.23 :star:
      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day
      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July / Aug
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run
      • Registered early (shoot, didn't get selected randomly for waiver of fee) on 12.29.23 for 6.8.24 Bellin 10K race ~ light rain most of race, steady rain last mile or so :star: chip time 1:42:35 ave. pace 16:31 (first half 16:50 second half 16:12) overall 3,136 out of 3,463 / females 1,560 out of 1,792 / F65-69yo 30 out of 48 ~ not as fast as I used to go, but still finished my 27th Bellin overall (their 48th year)

      • Registered for 10.5.24 Bellin Women's 5K
      7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together
      • Always a good idea

Had to do a presentation for the CEO & CFO of the company today. I was crazy nervous for it. I spent 3 hours at work yesterday rehearsing. Of course, when we got to the conference room today we were already over an hour behind schedule so I was asked to speed it up. My carefully planned presentation went about 60% out the window, but according to my peers it went really well. I seemed confident and calm. Thanks in part to the 2 little orange tablets I took this morning for my anxiety. Now I'm just doing a few more meetings and then I have to do dinner with our VIP's. Looking at my watch my stress level is off the charts, but I'm slowly unwinding. Finally got some caffeine in me around noon. That seems to have helped the headache.

Bex, you are a great mum. You have so many valuable experiences with the kids, it makes me smile.
