Sounds great @Teresa502 ! That food looks delicious!
Very cool @yirara . Thanks for the pictures! Those are some really small volcanoes.
@martaindale Sorry your run was a struggle today. Great job on hanging in there and getting it done.
@WarmJellyfish Your posted goal is just a number. If you need to adjust it to keep healthy, go ahead. There is no goal police on this thread. LOL
Welcome @moonlitrose25 . I'm impressed that you are already doing two miles if you just started running. Eight miles a week sounds like a very reasonable goal.
@7lenny7 That looks like a really pretty place for a run, but rugged. Have fun!4 -

13.80/70 mile goal
I didn't get a chance to post last night, so am posting two runs. Yesterday was a wun after the gym and before people came to give me an estimate for new gutters. I wasn't sure how I'd do because my legs were tired from the gym workout, but I went fast enough to call it a run...minus the warm up and cool down walks.
Today, I did the planned drill workout again. I lacked motivation, but did okay. Cadence 30 second splits were 9:43, 9:38, and 9:35 min/mile (missed the first one again). Managed about 186 spm cadence.
I played round robin doubles tennis tonight. It was fun and we had some great tennis, even though my partners and I lost all three of the sets we played. Sounds like I was the weak link tonight.7 -
September Goal: 140 Miles
9/1: 11.02 miles
9/2: 3.15 miles
9/3: 6.02 miles
9/4: 4.11 miles
9/5: 6.25 miles
30.57/140 miles completed for September
No rain today, but it was very humid. Today's run was 400 m intervals at 5K pace. I think I did ok with the workout. It was 2 miles warm up, 100 m fast/100 m recover x 4, then 400 m fast/400 m recover x 6 then half a mile cool down. I ran all the paces faster than Hal suggested, and I got mixed up in the second interval so for the first few intervals I ran the fast portion slow and the slow portion fast. But I still ran intervals even if I did some of them backwards. It was a fun run, and I saw two raccoons, a mama and a baby.

Morning all.
Got in 7.56M at 10"24.
1400 done for 2024
@quilteryoyo and @SummerSkier thanks for the kind words, as always 😊😊
@Teresa502 what's next on the itinerary?5 -
Target: 40 miles/64.3k
1 Sept: 3.14mi/5.05k
4 Sept: 4mi/6.43k
6 Sept: 4.53mi/7.28k
Total 11.67mi/18.77k
So… after last night’s silent disco, dancing for 2.5 hours non-stop and getting home late, I confess I didn’t feel much like running for 50 minutes this morning but I did it anyway - just real slow - and clocked up my longest run, but it was nowhere NEAR 6 miles! I wonder if I was thinking in km?
After a few months off, tomorrow I return to my normal Saturday routine of teaching children to ski on our local dry slope, which mostly consists of about 5 hours of running up and down a hill wearing ski boots and a helmet, with an occasional bit of skiing: this used to be my main fitness activity, so it will be interesting to see what the running has changed. My PR’s:
1k: 6:39
1m: 11:06
2m: 23:22
5k: 36:04
Longest run/walk - 5.18mi/8.36k
Longest run - 3.95mi/6.35k6 -
Hi Everyone!
My goal today was to have a successful speed workout after my last couple of disapointing attempts. I felt like I needed to get a win and give myself back a bit of confidence. My main training plan wanted me to run 12 miles with at least 10 of those at race pace. I really didn't want to do this run. I felt like my legs could deal with quicker as long as the overall distance was shorter, so I followed a suggestion from my watch for a tempo workout and aced it. It wasn't easy, and I was more than 10 seconds faster/km than I should have been, but I held that pace for 41 minutes, did a little cooldown, and then ran the last km of my run at my race pace. So overall a run I was very happy with. I ran 11.5km.
67.2/240ish km for September.
@yirara Nice pictures! I didn't know Fuertoventura had little volcanoes, and now I learned that the Canary Islands are all volcanic .
@kgirlhart That sounds like a nice run and with racoons!

@yirara Nice pictures! I didn't know Fuertoventura had little volcanoes, and now I learned that the Canary Islands are all volcanic .
You're welcome! The main volcanism is a hot spot, similarly to what's happening underneath Hawaii: the spot remains at the same location and the oceanic plate moves over it, creating a chain of islands. Most volcanoes on the Canaries are fairly small and of the cindercone type: they only erupt once and then stop for ever. And there are even smaller, just few meter high 'cones' that originate from lava getting into contact with sea water. Few stratovolcanoes, and everything sits on a former shield volcano. Pretty cool stuff (well, I think so).7 -
On a whim, I went for a second run yesterday. I was stiff and sore this morning but felt better as the day went on. So I did it again today. It has turned into a Run/Walk thing but I was glad that I did it and got a couple extra miles.

Great running and mileage for the year @tarun_yadavA !
@AmunahSki What is silent disco? Sounds like a lot of fun and I'm impressed that you got out and did 50 min after that. All of those up and the ski slope would "kill" me. You must be in great shape to do that.
@Laurz9191 That sounds like a tough run, but you nailed it!
Great running @emptydog .
You are doing great with your streak @daria0919 !

Today and tomorrow my mom and I are yard selling with my neighbor. (We are participating in the 23 miles of yard sales along the main road that goes sort of by mom's house. We aren't on the main road, but are close enough that people will venture over to see what we have.) We are mostly selling things that my cousin had and a few things we were ready to get rid of. So, today was mostly spent sitting and talking to people. We sold a few things. It was fun, but didn't leave a lot of time for exercise. So, a minimum walk it was. It will probably be the same thing tomorrow. I'll have to put off my planned long run for another day.
One lady dropped her drivers license in the driveway and someone else found it. After we closed up for the day, mom and I drove it to her house and gave it back to her. She hadn't realized she had lost it. I was just glad there was an address so we could return it without a lot of effort. She was very thankful.6 -
Afternoon all. (Yes, I left it late).
Got in 7.56M again - at 10"10.
Good luck @7lenny7

@7lenny7 you did fantastic! 43 miles with very little training is amazing!
10 miles this morning. Finally managed to get a double digit run. Haven't done that since May. It was significantly cooler this morning.

I forgot to post my run yesterday. Work was crazy busy, then we went out to eat and to my sister's so we got home late. My run was really good. The weather was nice at 72°F and the sky was clear. I ran 6 miles. It was mostly uneventful. I did see a skunk, and I got startled by a frog who jumped up on the curb next to me. It was nice and I felt good.
The weather is perfect right now, but today is my rest day and I am going to a baby shower here in a bit. I have a little great nephew on the way in October. The weather for tomorrow should be just as nice though, so I am looking forward to the long run.
I also didn't get a chance to read the posts from yesterday, so I am going to try to get caught up.
If you're interested, here is a picture of the quilt I made for the baby.
The baby's dad is a skateboarder, so I thought skateboard fabric would be fun.

@AmunahSki Math and running don't seem to mesh very well! Good job getting it done, whatever the distance.
@kgirlhart We have a family of raccoons that uses our backyard as a cut through. I love seeing them! It's a group of three and they follow the stone pathways from one side of our backyard to the other and then under the fence every night at dusk.
And cute quilt!
@Laurz9191 Happy Birthday!!
@7lenny7 Way to go! I'm always so impressed by you ultra running people.

Sept total: 28.9/115 miles
YTD: 703.7/1200 miles
9/2: 6.6 miles
9/5: 7 miles
9/6: 5.2 miles
9/7: 10.1 miles
Completely forgot to post yesterday morning. I did a pretty uneventful shorter run around the neighborhood. My legs felt less heavy, which was nice.
After work yesterday, I headed to Huntsville State Park to go camping. Timing worked out perfectly. The weather this weekend is going to be really nice, with lows in the '60s both nights and a high around 85° f today.
This morning I went on my first double-digit run in a few months. When I started it was 69° f, which felt amazing! By the time I finish it was still cooler than it has been at sunrise for the last several months. The run went well, and with the cooler temperatures I felt really strong despite doing a longer distance.
For the rest of the day all I have to do is enjoy myself, which is my favorite part of camping! No real responsibilities. Here's the view from my campsite, where I am currently sitting in a chair and about to read my book.

Hello Everyone! I’m currently at 10.9 miles of my 50-mile goal. This morning I ran/walked another 5K. This premier 5K event and was in celebration of National Recovery Month benefiting addiction recovery scholarships for students.
I was quite proud of this 5K, because for the first time in a long time, I did negative splits. WooHoo 🥳 🙌🏾. Definitely working on being more consistent.
Have a great day everyone!

Way to go @steviebee888!! Congrats on negative splits!2

16.55/70 mile goal
It was drizzling rain this morning, so we decided to put off opening up the yard sale for an hour. So, I went ahead and did my walk before we started today. I thought I had walked at 3.8 mph until I just did the math, and apparently I didn't reset the speed, so the walk was at 3.5 mph. That was fast enough for me this morning.
I didn't sale as much of the big stuff as I had hoped, but talking to people all day was fun.5 -
I had a very successful week. I don't post everyday but I do read everyone's post daily and they are very motivating. So thank you all for helping me reach my goals.
I did not have a distance goal for September but just wanted to be consistent in my running as I get back into it. My goal was to hit the road 4 times this week. I made it out six times!! ok, they were all short and slow but it's a start. The weather here has been hot 35C/93F, but fall is coming this week and I can not wait.
Sept. 1- 5km 7'02"
Sept. 2- 8km 7'49" very hot, lots of walking and pouting lol but I stayed out and did it
Sept. 3- 4km 6'40"
Sept. 4- 0
Sept. 5- 4km 6'58"
Sept. 6- 6.5km 7'01"
Sept. 7- 6km 6'54"
Total- 33.5km
Going to increase distance and push the pace, maybe do some interval training or hills. We shall see what the body says.7 -
