    Good Evening!

So far, a good day. The Eagles won....waiting to see of the Phillies win.

Did a lot of organizing in my spare room. I have been saving bubble wrap for several years and it's been taking over the closet so I am going to see if anyone nearby can use it....hate to just throw it out. And I was able to vacuum the carpet in there for the first time in probably a year! I got a new vacuum cleaner and it works great. I found more things to donate and a few to pass on to my grandkids. One more day and I should finished. Then I can do some cleaning in my living room and decorate for fall.

Great with the walking, Tilliesmommy1! I have a walking DVD that I have used in the past. But now that the weather is cooling off, I will be walking outside more.

Drinking water and watching baseball now. Enjoy the rest of your evening!

    Good morning β˜€οΈ

Sara - Your asian meals sound wonderful! I am envious πŸ˜‹

Sandy - Good for you on the cleaning/organizing. A new vacuum cleaner is great!

I have "one of those rooms" that I've begun to tackle. It has taken the place of an attic or garage, and oh boy is it full of junk. I started on it yesterday.....

    Happy Monday, all!

Lana, thanks! And good luck with YOUR room. I find a lot of people have rooms like mine. But I have anxiety issues and it was gnawing at me for SO long. I have a "friend" who actually offered to come over and help me....I was elated! That lasted all of 15 minutes. I was a combination of disappointed and even more anxious. I wish she hadn't come at all. But the moral is, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. So I am. And I won't be accepting help from that "friend" again.

Had my Endo appt. this afternoon. A1c is down from 7.4 to 6.4....a good decrease. Should be able to get it down further by the time I go back in January. She asked me if I wanted to try another semiglutide prescription. I thought it over and decided no. I had bad side effects with Ozempic so I will lose the weight on my own. I did it before...I will do it again.

Back to my room...and see how much I can accomplish. Lunch was a BIG salad...I am satisfied. Enjoy the rest of the day, everybody!

    Good evening,

I have a bad habit of not getting fruit in my diet so dinner is cottage cheese/dark chocolate granola and frozen fresh blueberries.

I arranged to get my pre op apt, my psychiatric apt and my medical clearance/ekg on same day in that order so I am not taking extra days off work. I will take my knitting.

Listening to music I am meeting up with old songs I have not heard in so long. Ending my day reading murder mysteries at the moment. Light enough to engage mind.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Good morning everybody πŸ‘‹πŸ»

Sandy - that is great news about your A1C πŸŽ‰

Sara - I recently heard that listening to music we love can raise our endorphins. I believe that's true πŸ‘πŸ»

It is raining cats and dogs here - I'll be going to an appointment in one hour. I hope it slows down by then. It seems that there is rain scattered all over the country.

Time to get into the shower.....

    Good morning!

Tilliesmommy1, I am going to miss the local fresh fruit. I did get some apples thar are in season but the rest of the fruits are going away. The ones shipped in always have so little flavor. So it's back to frozen for me, too. And wow....I wish I could get all my medical appt's on the same day!

Thanks, Lana. I expected a drop, but not such a good one. It's a great NSV for me! Stay dry, too!

I have a baseball game this evening....Phillies and Cubs. Phillies won the NL East last night! There will be baseball in October! Today I am taking the day off from the spare room....will work on it Wednesday....hopefully will be finished.

Going to get my Atkins shake for breakfast now. Have a great day!

    Good morning!

Missy, my phone is doing the same. I hit the back arrow on the page indicator and it takes me back to the current thread.

Gloomy day here. Have plans to go out with my significant other clothes shopping.....he needs the help. Has no sense of style. 🀣 And he knows it.

Not sure how much organizing I will get done today. And I have to message my egg lady....after breakfast, I am out of eggs again.

Time to put away the portable a/c unit in my bedroom....thank goodness!

Seems there is an endless list of things I have to do around here. I have the time...working on the ambition.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning all~~

Yes, I've been seeing for a week now on my laptop that the page loading for our thread was doing something strange. I think that it has straightened itself out now.

I've been sick since Tuesday evening with what seems to be norovirus without a fever. Covid test was negative. I still feel like dreck today. Sharp pains in abdomen, but nothing comes of it. Ribcage is sore from you-know-what. *whimper*

Chicken soup is on the menu today.

    Good Late Morning!

Lana, it was partly successful....he got a new tie...LOL! And sorry you are under the weather. πŸ˜” Hope you bounce back fast! ❀️

I have my dental cleaning today. I will be glad to get that done. Then I am done with medical appointments until November.

My new glasses are finally ready....of course the office is closed on Thursdays. I am getting tired of wearing my old glasses....everything is a little off and it's annoying.

Went to Michael's yesterday and got a few fall picks to make a wreath. I am actually looking forward to seeing the Christmas picks so I can make a new Christmas wreath, too.

Egg lady contacted me....will be getting my usual 2 dozen this afternoon. Only $4 a dozen for fresh eggs.

Hope you all have a good day!

    Good morning...

My spare room is almost done. There are still a couple shelves that need to be reorganized, but that's the easy part. I actually have room to walk around in there now. Now I have to try and keep it that way.

I decided it was time to use a couple gift cards I received and get myself a tablet...that's what I am using to post this. Much easier on the eyes and it has really good speakers....4 of them. And I can use it for phone calls since it's synched to my phone. I ordered a cover for it and it should be here today.

Also picked up my new glasses. I always say if it looks like you aren't wearing glasses, they are good glasses and these are.

I said I would feed a friend's cats and take in my brother's mail and paper. I am the one they all ask because I don't go away anywhere.....sigh...

Hope everyone has a good day!

Hey there Sandy πŸ‘‹πŸ» Tell me, OMG, the only thing that DH got was a new tie? Well, sometimes there just isn't anything that is appealing; other times, there can be ten things that jump out at you.

You are reminding me that I need to look into getting new eyeglasses. The ones I have are six years old; they are very delicate frames, and if they were to break, I would be stuck with contact lenses, which I prefer not to wear. I think I have an appointment in a month or two for a checkup....maybe then....

    HEY MAUREEN ‼️ ‼️
How are you doing? I am hoping that Hurricane Helene has spared you. You are farther west in NC than I am, and I'm hoping that all is OK with you.

🌴Maureen is in Charlotte. The worst damage was farther west in Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. So awful.

The past few days have been stressful, and I have been resorting to old habits to cope. Not good.

    Good evening,

Hope eveyone is doing okay from weather in the east. It is just hot here still, no water no flooding but a lot of kranky people.

The young man I have been giving dog food - he lives in his car with his large dog, said he got a job that starts soon. Wheels are turning for him.

Dragon update - reason to go to HR yesterday (she has that "lady who steals Toto" look on her face when she had to do that). She "went home" only to come back a couple hours later with someone else and a grocery bag (I was on my break but in the lobby). They left soon and about a half hour later someone who had a key was going through the shred bin near my Sup's office. I know walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, but we dont get stuff like that in my dept. We shall see and will keep you posted.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Good Afternoon!

I have been on the move today....fed the friend's cat, took in mail and paper at my brother's, came back, and started working on the bedroom. Found my fall duvet cover and curtains. Have to strip the bed and wash the sheets....I have new sheets in dark green. I got sidetracked because the fish tank needed a partial water change and that takes time but I got that done and another pot of water on to be distilled. Maybe it's a good thing I gave up on football today (the Eagles are losing) and got moving on home stuff. STILL haven't been able to decorate beyond setting up my kitchen table with my fall tablecloth and candle rings. Maybe tomorrow?

Tilliesmommy1, that's SO great that the young man got a job! Good luck to him!

Till tomorrow....have a good evening all!

    Good afternoon,

I have a number of steps to get in, and I am finding going into mixes from a decade brings back memories of songs I have not heard which is usually good.

Temps will still be high this week. Rolling eyes.

Sandy - I spent yesterday at the dollar store looking for Fall decor for work. Still to hot to tsf over, but the green sheets sound wonderful and a nice but not expensive way to bring the Fall colors into the house. Hmmmm Amazon time...!!!

Cottage cheese with blueberries and walnuts. It is upper 80s. Fall will find us.

Today was a disaster, I tracked about half of it, then tried to connect my fitbit to this account and I couldn't get a password reset, then I went for a walk and only managed about 5000 steps. I then came home and ate everything. I'm going to try and track everything so I have a more complete database of foods at least, so the day wasn't a total waste.

    Hello AnxietyFairy πŸ‘‹πŸ»
I hope that your fitbit gets ironed out. Our Technology can be so aggravating.
Please don't be hard on yourself. Acknowledge your achievements, and stay positive. Tracking half of the day is a step in the right direction! πŸ†

Sara - what intrigue is going on with The Monster!? Very interesting.
My sister in Redwood City says that this week is going to be brutal, heat wise. She doesn't have air conditioning in her house because of the terrible old wiring, so she keeps her head wet and sits with a fan blowing on her. Consistently, during these heat waves, the temps are 7 to 10 degrees over the predicted highs.

On Wednesday I start my drive north to NYC. I need to load the car with stuff that I don't want to go on a U-Haul truck in the future. I'm still clearing out that shoebox apartment.

    G'Mornin'!!

Tilliesmommy1, I can imagine how tough it is decorating for fall in 80⁰ weather. It IS cooler here, but this cloudy weather is such a downer, not to mention the dampness....I am trying to avoid running the a/c in dry mode. And we still have a couple more days of this before the sun comes back.

AnxietyFairy, I feel your pain. I derailed myself last night and was SO upset. I am diabetic and I take 2 different kinds of insulin....quick acting and slow acting. The former is for before meals and the latter before bed. You can probably guess which one I accidentally took last night....the second time I've done that. And it's potentially dangerous because I take twice as much of the bedtime insulin as I do the mealtime. Thankfully I realized it just as I finished injecting it. And I freaked out. And I had to EAT.....quick. So I grabbed a high carb Atkins bar, ate that and then I got out Triscuits and cheese and ate about 10 of those....and then waited, because you can't go to bed with the chance your sugar is too low (and I was already over my quota of carbs for the day). But I prevented it from going TOO low so that was good. But as a result, the scale was mean to me this morning. So put it behind you.....we will both have a better day! I used to use a Fitbit with MFP but my daughter got me a Galaxy watch a couple years ago and I really like it's tracking capabilities.

    Lana, are you moving?

Hope everyone has a great day!

    Good morning all~~

Sandy - I used to live and work in NYC. I retired to NC. I still have the apartment in NYC, and I've been taking years to clear it out and be done with it.

So sorry to hear about the insulin thing. Would it be possible for you to keep your nighttime stuff in your bedroom and your daytime stuff in a whole 'nuther room, so that you go to a different location to use the two different insulins?

I keep looking at all the TikTok videos of the damage in western NC. There are no words.

    Happy Tuesday!

Lana, you are lucky. To be able to afford to pay rent for a NY apartment and live in another state. I can barely pay the rent for the apartment I live in.

That's a great idea about the insulin, too.....why didn't I think of that?? And yes, I have seen the videos of NC. It's devastating, to be sure. πŸ˜”

Finally got out some of the fall/Halloween decorations yesterday. Dusted the living room and placed some things, but I am going to rearrange them. I found out the first year I moved here, they don't do Halloween....which is a disappointment. I sat on the front step of my apartment with a bowl of candy and watched as kids in costumes walked across the road to the housing developments to Trick or Treat. So I ended up with a bowl of candy for myself.

Two more days of gloomy weather...

    Till next time, keep smiling!

    Good morning all~~

Sandy - Glad to hear that your decorating is coming along. Sad about no kids for Halloween πŸŽƒ. Same here: only college kids and elderly professors in my neighborhood.

I absolutely cannot afford to have an apartment in NYC and an old money pit in NC. I could when I was married, and there were two incomes. Now I have racked up quite an amount of debt, and I must get rid of the NYC shoebox. I'm too old to be in NYC; it's an awful place for seniors.

I cannot wait to see a sunny day, whenever that might be.

    Howdy!

Lana, sorry to hear about the financial issues. And I understand.....NYC is not exactly senior friendly. I would only like it for the arts....theater, music, etc. I am fortunate though to live in NJ and have a partner who lived in NYC when he was younger. Last December he took me to see my boy Hugh Jackman in "The Music Man"....I was thrilled! Then we walked to Rockefeller center to see the tree and light show. Would love to go back sometime. Tomorrow is his birthday and we are going to a seafood restaurant to celebrate. Just don't want it to turn into a SEE-food event....LOL!

Decorating is finished, thank goodness! I have another pot of water in the distiller....I will be doing that for awhile in preparation for using my humidifier when the dry season arrives. And I mix it with my tap water for my aquarium.

Brother asked me to take care of mail and papers again starting tomorrow until Monday. No grass grows under their feet. While I am taking root, unfortunately....ha, ha,

People are already hoarding stuff like they did with Covid. I never did that. I ordered food in quite a bit so I wouldn't have to make too many trips to the store, but that's not an issue this time. I have quite a bit of food in the freezer and plenty of TP....LOL!

Ham, veggies and baked potato for dinner. Hope your evening is a pleasant one!

Hi, all. When I'm not posting here, I'm not logging. And if I'm not logging, I'm not losing--and am gaining. Sigh. I need to have a firm conversation with myself.

We missed two days of school due to power outages in Charlotte after Helene, and of course the awful news coming from our western neighbors. I was a little surprised that I seem to have been one of the few people to know it was going to be horrific; I witnessed the inland damage done in Virginia by Camille in 1969, including a massive mudslide that killed over 100. It breaks my heart, though, to know of the suffering. And fewer than 1% had flood insurance. What a nightmare in so many ways.

I've developed a 2nd blood clot after my knee replacement, but this time in the other leg. I've joined a gym and am taking off the half days my surgeon wanted--the district can figure out my leave; it's not my job to do that. I was too tired after working full time and wasn't keeping up with walking, elevating, icing, or exercises. Now I am. I'll build some stamina this way.

I will try to be back daily. It helps me commit.

    Good Afternoon!

Tilliesmommy1, I totally applaud you doing what you have to for your health. And you are right about not logging and not losing....that's why I was a serial starter. I can't do that anymore.

It upsets me that people couldn't afford flood insurance. There has to be some solution. I get that storms cost insurance companies, but that's why they are in business. Selling insurance to people who probably won't need it is all they want to do.

Saving my calories and carbs for the dinner out. Have a good evening!

    Good Evening

I have been in a funk all day. I do suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. Last night I even DREAMED I was depressed! How uplifting is that? Sometimes it's just SO hard to get past it. I don't know how long it will last this time...sometimes it lasts for over a week.

I spent part of the afternoon trying to navigate banking sites. I have a brother in Japan and he, along with my other brother, are purchasing partial baseball season tickets and they are due to be paid for. My brother in Japan usually transfers money to my checking account and I write a check to my other brother for that amount but I can no longer allow that much money to be transferred into my account because I have to send bank statements to the state to prove I am as poor as I claim to be. It's ridiculous but that's how it is. So I told my brother to transfer the money to another savings account I have that has nothing in it and I would transfer it to another checking account I have....again with nothing in it. So he transfers the money and I find out I can't transfer money from a savings account to an external checking account....I have to have a checking account with their bank. Ok....so I opened another checking account, which I will never again use, and transferred the money from the savings account to that. Then I try to transfer the money to the other checking account and it won't work!! I already had 2 online chats with the bank people and I didn't want to have another one. So then I figure, ok...let me go to the other bank and try to transfer the money to there from there. Well, it seems I can only transfer the money from the first bank's savings account!! So I had to transfer the money BACK to the savings account and THEN I could finally transfer the money to the checking account in the other bank. What a freaking hassle!!

You probably weren't able to follow all that but I had a need to type it all out. Not sure why.

I told my brother in Japan that he can from now on, send money to the first bank's new checking account and I can write my other brother a check. I was trying to save time and all I did was end up frustrated as hell. If this hadn't worked, I would have had to drive 2 towns over to the physical bank, withdraw the cash, and hand that to my brother. Maybe I should have just done that on Monday. But I was trying to save time and unneeded effort. Silly me! And all that certainly didn't help my anxiety any.

Cabana boys, Lana? I bet that was interesting. ;)

My partner wants to do something tomorrow....take a walk somewhere, get a little exercise. I hope I feel up to it.

    Have a nice day tomorrow!

    Good evening,

Why is it that natural disasters always hurt the most those so close to poverty.

Okay fun week ( ha ha I am being sarcastic). I am wondering if my current manager's leaving would prompt those who followed her to this dept would go with her? Hmmmm more turnovers......

I bought new sheets for Fall. Then I found out I am getting a bonus- tonight I spent 3/5 of it on a new chair that is made by a mattress company so I can get better sleep. Color matches the sheets I bought - it was meant to be.

Crock pot will be working this weekend to make low # ingredient/less salt meals.

I have a funeral tomorrow to attend at my church. This is someone who started coming when I did. I will not even look for calorie savings.

My 2000 extra steps a day continues. Dragon is in 3rd place claiming she will do more. Rolling eyes. I am even considering doing more steps like 2500 or 3000 but not yet body is talking loudly right now.

I will spend Tuesday doing 3 dr apts at 2 buildings in the same block -see steps here. Taking handwork and book.Napping is also possible its dull enough waiting.

Lana - glad you are getting ready to shut down your place in NYC - $$$$. Are your dr's local now.

Mckuls they have such a large HR dept everywhere it is your duty to keep them busy. I enjoyed you saying it was their job to figure it out.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.
