@pipcd34 I used to live in AK. It's very beautiful. I recommend back up dramamine for the cruise, and mosquito spray, they tend to swarm in the summer though they aren't as aggressive as they are here in TX. Have fun! Watch out for bears and make sure you put a little noise maker like bells on your backpack if you go hiking. It usually deters the bears. Oh and do not try to pet the moose. Lol!3

Had back Pt yesterday. They used some sort of ‘tool’ that felt like knuckles to rub out my back. The young gentleman I had focused mostly on the left of my back and not my right. It is supposed to be some sort of massage to loosen the back muscles. I prefer a deep tissue massage! He then used a tinge unit on my back for 20 minutes which felt pretty good actually. Today I feel like my back is bruised! Lol When I got home from that, I went for a 2 mile walk. Probably wasn’t a good idea. I plan on going for a walk after I get off of here.
I canceled my mental therapy I was scheduled for on Monday, but I think I probably should have gone after the last couple of weeks I’ve been through. I don’t see her now until the first week in December.
DH took me out to a ‘real’ sit down restaurant yesterday. The first time in years!! We went to an authentic Italian restaurant we have in town. I had a sort of chicken breast in a lemon/caper/artichoke sauce with a side of spinach spaghetti and Italian zucchini. It was awesome! The past couple of weeks have been rough on him too, so I think this was his way of apologizing. Men!! Lol

Barbie - I always think nothng is going on, I live such a quiet life. I deliberately keep everything super simple. However, there is always a lot going on in my mind.
John managed to find the sports ground and saw Edie straight away. She was very pleased that he made it. In her group there were 150 starting and she came 23rd. Not bad, considering she was ill over the weekend and had to have yesterday off school! She is not a natural runner, much preferring swimming and cycling, but she is very determined.
I had an email from the flower company I use, reminding me it is my DSIL's birthday soon. I would have forgotten! I had only recently sent her flowers for looking after my brother so well, so I chose a John Lewis/Waitrose gift card instead. Thank goodness I was reminded, as she truly deserves a present!
Our old year group has been emailing each other, as it's five years since our last reunion. I've had a couple of updates on people's lives. So, I'm just about to email one of the women who used to be a close friend in the 4th year. She is now living in a retirement village, because her husband has been having falls, and she has rheumatoid arthritis.
Then I will get dolled up a bit for French Circle. Quick bite to eat beforehand.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been on an Alaska cruise before with my husband a 2-3 years ago. It was beautiful.3 -
Add me to the list of people on a news fast. I still overhear a little, and I just have to shake my head. We are officially living in crazy town. I'm focusing on cooking, my family, and my health. Nothing I can do about the world. So I'll just tend to my little bit. "Cultivate my garden," as Candide says.

So... I showered, completed two loads of laundry including folded and put away, ate my late breakfast, put clean dishes away and loaded breakfast dishes, filled the dehydrator with another couple pounds of apples, and got a bit further on the current project. Talked to Corey at lunchtime, and we got dinner sorted out, so my day has pretty much gone to plan.
Back to my current project, I think.
Or a nap.
Decisions, decisions. 😹
Later, y'all,

PIP ~ What a sweet friend you have to have made you and Kirby that beautiful quilt.
Po ~ So glad you have a new visit with N coming up. Enjoy!
I am so sorry that many of you are upset about the news. You must remember that we all come here as individuals with different beliefs and opinions.
Carol in GA6 -
Happily, I am seeing no US news here. If I look at news, I focus on Tasmanian news. The rest of it doesn't really matter.

Well, it seems the big-shot for BK didn’t come so guess who was there today? This better be the end.
After work went to the Y. I had a pain in my heel and I used the treadmill which I think made it worse. I think I need to rest it. Vince asked me if I was going to bowling and I said “why not, it’s my foot, not my hand. And if I’m lucky, maybe the team we play (his) will take pity on me and let us win. Fat chance!
Afterwards went to Aldi since Vince needed milk
Yes, Heather, which glute exercise?
Penney – no, no car accident. No hospitalization for anything in the last year(s). I’m quite certain it’s arthritis. You can see the arthritis in my hands, but it doesn’t hurt. One time it was hurting a bit and I took an Aleve, the pain really diminished. Not that I take Aleve all the time, tho. I’ve lived with this discomfort for years so it’s really no biggie. How I wish we had a Costco near us! Alas, all we have is a Sam’s.
I’m like Flea regarding the news. Don’t go out of my way to watch it. Skim the headlines of the newspaper, depend on Vince for any highlights. Sometimes I’ll catch a snippet, but not often
Carol – Is there something in the news that I missed (I told you I don’t watch much.)?
Off to bowling. I WILL NOT let me hurting heel stop me from doing things.

That friend of mine has been a good one. We met when we got hired at Amazon back in 1999. She’s one of those friends that you may not talk to everyday or months can go by but when you get together (like we did when I flew up to see her) we pick up where we were, like time hasn’t gone by.

@linder4866 Joyce? Always happy to see you stop by.
Sue hooray for chair yoga. How long will the nieces stay to help their mom?
Vicki ((hugs)). IMHO rest is what you need to recover from the years they overworked you. ((hugs))
Pip what a great gift for Kirby to give you and your friend. He sure is a keeper. However, I’d be scared to have him messing with electricity. Those different plugs are for different sized circuits/amps/voltages etc, Please consider hiring a licensed electrician.
Rebecca not a dream, but shortly after Papa passed, I heard him speak to me twice: once to tell me to take care of Mama, and once in amazement at the people in Costco ;}
Barbie yes to that blanket. You almost inspire me to get my needles out.
Allie sad to hear sMyles gets rough and out of bounds. Praying she can learn to set some boundaries he’ll respect now. It will just get harder later. ((hugs))
Lisa that $15 rechargeable hand held mixer is a bargain. Wish we had an Aldi’s here. I just sometimes need a hand mixer for recipes that are too small for the stand mixer. AND I want a rechargeable immersion blender as I donated the one with the PITA cord. The flyer made me laugh out loud. Our town’s annual holiday bazaar is peppered with signs pointing the way to the “VENDERS” . Makes me crazy as the event is held at the high school. Aaugh! I could only see 3 or maybe 4 oopses on the flyer… hmm.
Michele really like your mushroom. Well done!
Mo you are righit, the drugs rob people of all humanity and leave them barely an entity that will do anything for the next fix. Please god, they find that baby.
Ginny praying for stable or clear scans. ((hugs))
Gratitudes:

Oh that's so cool and special! I would love to hear my Moms or Dads voice! My Dad laughed like a donkey. He'd shake then go hooooonk, then shake. It was laughter inducing!

Today made blueberry scones for husband. I am not fond of them. I am fond of toasted bagels (the berry kind) with cream cheese on them and jam. Its better than any sweet pastry thing. Tomorrow I will buy strawberries, cream cheese and plain bagels for my treat. No sandwiches but those everything seasoning bagels are good. With a slab of cream cheese anchored tomatoes!
My latest video call. Have I posted this? If I have, my mistake.

It was a nice thing.💖

I read the online Guardian newspaper several times a day, the BBC news website, and watch the news on the BBC at 1 pm. I consider myself a world citizen with a duty to keep informed and alert. I belong to two pressure groups. Intelligent debate is the basis of my writing life.
I'm glad I went to French Circle, but it was an English person giving the lecture, (in French), and he didn't tell me anything I didn't already know about the French Revolution. I suppose I already knew quite a lot. I prefer to hear a real French accent, but he spoke slowly enough and used a microphone, which was good for John. Sometimes you just have to make the effort. It's good for us to do things together.
Saga sent me the insurance certificates for both cruises, but one has my medical declaration on it, and one says 'no medical conditions'. John answered the questions for both cruises at the same time. Duh! So now I have to ring them and sort it out. Grrrr!

I am blessed to be able to hear my dad's voice when ever I want because a few years back, a reporter did an interview with mom and dad about their life/gardening/etc. It is so great to be able to both see and hear him again. The video of it is on YouTube4 -
Heather: I guess I aspire to be a citizen of the world because I listen to the Economist and read articles from the Economist. And I spent the day reading a book about governments. But I am a reader. I barely turn the tv on. And I would rather a magazine article that sums everything up rather than try to follow along with the tv news. I do like the BBC news.
And I can't stand panels. And I hate commercials! And I am annoyed by so called Breaking News!
I do miss my husband! There is no one to speak with! All conversation outside of the house is carefully considered to the best of my ability.
I hope to knit every evening now for the rest of the week!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

I bought Miles what is called a Tonie box ,it has little figures that you set on top and it tells stories and sings songs.. there are all sorts of tonie pieces, and you can get ones and record your own also.. Tracy wants me and her dad to read a few books on one for Miles..and I ordered 3 for him for Christmas.. think I might order him the Peter in the Wolf one..also.. my mom had the Leonard Bernstein recording of that ,and how I loved that..and Tracy remembered that from her childhood too6

After bowling we went to WalMart and got these inserts like Vince has for plantar fasciatis (? sp). He also had to get some gasoline stabilizer. I could swear we had some.

Allie, I saw those Tonie boxes in a commercial. I was thinking about getting one or two and sending it to my little niece(she is my second cousin). I may donate some to the Hospital for the kids. Thanks for sharing, Miles and Delia; they make me smile.
Pip, I love the quilt, and I thought that was a wonderful gift. Does that mean you have to share it with Kirby, too? BTW, you look so young for 65. I can see how that group was shocked by your age.
Machka, even though I am afraid of bees, I have a great deal of respect for them, and I will never kill one. What about wasps? I am fearful of them. We have the giant red wasp here in MS. I kill them if they are in my house.
I got my exercise in with step aerobics and sorted things with DS. I will move money around to get his ticket to come home on the 20th and pay to have his stuff stored in NY before he goes. I should have done my laundry like Lisa. I worked on earrings today and got some decluttering done in my closet. I will do the laundry tomorrow. I also worked on the kitchen cabinet. I have so much to do. An influencer gave me a travel backpack code, and I would order it. Then I saw the price. $169.00! I went to the backpack I wanted on Amazon, which was on sale for 25.00. It is TSA-approved and roomy. The other one was not cute at all. I need to get some trainers next. I watched some True Crime with Kendall Rae as well.
I am going to bed.
Later gators.

Heather - I hope you find the trousers that you’re looking for. I find clothes styles so difficult these days.
Mostly because of my size I think.
Machka - Can anything be done for the Tinnitus?
That sounds awful.
Rebecca - I love dreams like that too. I just wish they would last longer. I could use some of their wisdom right about now.
Allie - those grands sure are cute.
I have been burying my head and avoiding an issue that I know I have to take care of. I made a call last week to start taking care of it and today I spent almost all day working on gathering information for a meeting on Wednesday.
Michele - love your mushroom and Vince’s car.
Heather - Happy Anniversary!!!!
Carol - they are battery operated lights I found at Dollar Tree, only 10 lights per string so the batteries last a fair amount of time.
Machka - I knew the bees were responsible for a lot, but not as much as you wrote about. Thank you.
Lisa - I am very thankful we aren’t allowed to have news stories on FB in Canada. It sure made it less stressful for me. I too listen to music more than anything during the touch times.
I’ve been reading along for days and making random notes but then not posting them.
Been busy painting each evening. Tonight I have ceramics and tomorrow night I need to do some cleaning. I have a long weekend this weekend because I’m going to Kaitlyn’s to decorate for Christmas. I’m looking forward to it.

I'll happily pass on being a world citizen ... I don't have the time or energy to take on that level of stress.
I pour my time, energy, and intelligence into my career, the learning I do related to my career, and the learning I do in my personal areas of interest.
I also don't trust "the news" to get it right. I'm sure they do sometimes, possibly even most of the time (greater than 50%), but not all the time. Articles related to my area of work appear in "the news" fairly regularly, and they're usually missing something or have the wrong end of the stick. I read them, roll my eyes, have a little chuckle, and carry on with my work.
For a more well-rounded perspective, it's good to check the bias of your news choices. In your case, the Economist, which Rosemarie mentioned, might be a good addition. You might also try Leicester Mercury to balance things out and read things from different angles.

Generally, bees will leave you alone if you leave them alone ... and if you don't get between them and flowers.
Wasps are another story. A few wasp species can be pollinators too, but most aren't. They will drink the nectar of flowers, but they'll also often attack other insects (including bees), spiders and so on. And they'll attack us as well.

Just popping in to catch up.
I’m on a news diet. I keep myself informed, but refuse to watch every single news broadcast, as they are so repetitive. I have much more enjoyable and productive things to do with my time. DH and DYD discuss the news interminably, and I usually leave them to it.
This morning I have been doing laundry(putting it away) I’m a bit fussy about how that’s done 😂 DH loads machine and hangs it up, except for my jumpers, which I like to put onto hangers in our drying cupboard so that they can go straight into the wardrobe afterwards. I have managed to get him not to chuck them all in the laundry basket in a heap, most of the time 😂
DH is doing his online yoga class at the minute.
I’m cooking a gammon joint for DED’s birthday celebration on Sunday. We’re having a buffet type meal for family.
I have flower arranging after lunch so must go and prep my flowers.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.
🙋♀️ céad míle fáilte to the newbies.
