MY 100 POUND JOURNEY

Hi. I’m Sister Eleanor.
I’m 58 years old and I weigh 242 pounds. I am now dealing with weight-related back pain. (At least I think it’s weight-related.) I have been relatively healthy in my life except for morbid obesity. This started 2 days ago.
My goal is 150, so it’s almost 100 pounds. It’s 92 pounds. I hope I can still be in the group.
I see the doctor tomorrow and hopefully I will get some PT or something.
Thank you so much … all of you. I hope I can be of support to you!
Also, can someone please tell me how to respond to another person’s comments?1 -

Weight is not quite moving in the right direction. Still commuting 3 hrs each day, missed out on a new job so narrowly. Doing 1.5 to 2 people's jobs currently since supervisor left, including 4 hrs of teaching straight on 2 days of the week where I try to fuel with protein as best as I can.1 -

Hi everyone! I’m Anna, I am 65, retired and live in NJ. I’ve tried many times to lose weight but just recently I realized that what I actually do is plan, prep, watch you tube videos, join both free and need to pay courses but I don’t DO a lot of taking action. This past year I’ve worked on my thoughts and that has helped a lot. I’m now ready to DO the work. One of the things that I’m changing is I’m not having a long lists of to dos because when I mess up, I quit until tomorrow, Monday, the first of the month or 1/1 whatever year. So my plan is to firm up my basics which are plan my food before I start to eat for the day and assess either that night or the next morning, 6+ hrs of sleep, -64 water, eat only when hungry which means wait until I am & stop when I’m no longer hungry-not stuffed, full or satisfied but no longer hungry. It’s only a few bites difference but it’s made a big difference for me. These basics had helped me lose 42 pounds but I slowly stopped doing them here n there n my weight came back on. So that is when I started working on my negative self talk and my thoughts. Now I’m ready to resume my journey. I still have a to do list but it has less things on it and I’ve added options.
So my add on options for this month are starting making a movement goal. I’ve set my baseline at 10 mins which I would have judged as not enough before but now I know that it is. I feel great when I keep my word to myself and I want to do more but have no pressure to continue. I also didn’t set a 5 or 7 day span. I picked 1-3-again giving me more chances to succeed. I’ve also have been doing daily journaling but if all I do is the two entries that I’ve done for Nov-I’m celebrating. I’ve discovered being kind to myself works so much better than tearing myself down. I look forward to not only losing 100 pounds but walking alongside each of you as we continue on our journeys. Don’t worry everyone. Weight loss is naturally a little slower in the winter time. You may even gain 5 or 10 pounds, but don’t give up. Keep working towards your goal.
Often the term "winter weight gain" is thrown out as a joking myth or quasi-excuse, but it's more real than we think. According to new research, natural evolution and lack of sunlight can heavily influence us to pack on the pounds when it gets colder
As the days get colder and darker, we may store more fat as insulation, potentially because it was more difficult for our ancestors to find food during the winter.
The lack of sunlight, which we would experience during the winter months, can increase the cells' ability to store fat and make us more susceptible to weight gain.
The study, from the University Of Alberta, uncovered that our bodies' fat cells may have a positive reaction to sunlight. The findings, discovered by accident, suggest that fat cells which reside closest to the skin, when exposed to blue light (which the sun produces), actually begin to shrink, thus storing less fat. Researchers have inverted this finding to suggest that lack of sunlight, which we would experience during the winter months, can increase the cells' ability to store fat and make us more susceptible to weight gain

Hi, all. I just found this challenge today 11/15/24. I'm currently between 305-309 pounds depending on the day. It's just awful. I read what Anna said (above) and that sounds a lot like my story. At my heaviest I was 356 if you can believe that. I lost down to 286 then there was a lot of family issues followed by the death of my father. I just quit trying a couple of years ago. It had crept back up to the 320 range. I am just sick of it, and like Anna said, all the prep in the world doesn't do any good if I over complicate everything and never actually do it. Doing is the issue. Knowledge is not the problem.1

What are add on options?
Dodie, I think the "options" Anna added to her "to do list" were to move more, and exercise (exactly what I need to do). Correct me if I'm wrong, Anna. 🚶🏻♀️ 🏃🏽♀️ 🚴♀️
