This round includes DGD first birthday + two weekends + Thanksgiving + company in the house for both weekends. For me it’s a perfect storm. I will be looking for easy wins this round to somewhat offset our family tendency to celebrate with food. If I am smart I will look for some hard fought wins too.8

@capewrathultra I have a limited understanding of boxing, but I think "the towel" is thrown into the ring by the fighter's "corner" if they see no way for him to win. I am in your corner and will not be throwing in the towel for you.9 -

Less than 6 weeks left in his year...
Round 278 - I changed scales, which immediately bumped me up 1 lb. If I factor in that change, I probably did break even for the round and my brain needs to hear that!🙂 Round 279 with Thanksgiving in the middle. I will focus on all the other days and not worry about that one day. There are a few things that will increase my calories on that day > Homemade macaroni and Cheese and pecan pie. The jury is still out on whether I attempt my Mom's home made rolls.
I am considering rejoining a gym. I have my workout space in the basement that's adequate, but I miss the leg workouts on the machines and I'm finding that my intensity is waning. I looked into Planet Fitness (was a member pre-covid), then I looked at another exercise center (was a member there maybe 8 years ago) (with a women only weight room , with fitness classes and jacuzzi). To my delight, because I am considered a senior, the cost of the exercise center is the same for the PF multiple club membership!!! The exercise center is about 7 additional minutes away, but I think I'm good with that!!!
So here we go last week of November 2024... my motto(s) - All the things I need to read daily!!!

Hi! I’m Amanda, 5’2”, 39F in Virginia.

Set my goal to just maintain this round. A trip to MIL's, including Thanksgiving, in between two weekends. Whoof. I won't have a scale 11/25-11/30, and our last weigh-in of this round is the day after a day of road food. I feel like even maintaining is ambitious but I'm going to do the best I can under the circumstances!

@capewrathultra Yup, we’re all here. I think back to a time at WW when I felt discouraged by losing 0.2# week after week and the leader pointed out after 5 weeks that I had lost A POUND! It made me change the way we I look at it. And “ANY loss is a good thing”

Counting calories and logging is a lot of work, and I can't see doing it if you don't do everything else needed to succeed. I CAN do this. Just give me 10 (more) days...lol6 -
🎷 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 279 (my 209th). So grateful as always @Quiltingjaine for another round.
This round I’m going to join @Chapter_3 in in a BHAG of 1 pound a round to the end of the year. I need to shake myself up cuz only 3-5 days per round staying on the waggon is not sufficient to get me back to where I want to be. 4 pounds would really get me on my way; I want to stay strong, walk the walk as well as talk the talk! & make the round a successful one.
So, goals for this round;
• First and foremost, no feeding frenzies - (carried over from last few rounds)
• to weigh less at the end of the round than the start & a pound is my small BHAG for this round
• be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

1.6 pound gained this round, I deserved it ☹. Moving on, my problem is I can talk the talk, but struggle to walk the walk with will power. Hope you’ve all done better than me, I’ll just keep plodding on, see you all next round.

11/22 141.8 (trend 142.5) 9.03 miles walked, footpaths were quite dodgy in places with the ice, but just walked these sections gingerly:) Feeling happier in myself now that I’ve made this commitment, hoping to stick with it & keep this mind set, I know as the festive period gets closer it will become more difficult with all the various food-based meeting ups, so need to make the earlier rounds and not “festive gathering” days really count.

11/22 157 Weight was creeping up the last 5 days of last round. Went out to eat last night and the food was delicious. But, I’ve got to get a grip on things again and stop the creep. This is a dangerous time of year for me, and I know it! I need to have “Danger, Will Robinson!” blinking on an off somewhere in my kitchen. NSV: bagged up 10 pairs of pants that are way too big now! They are going OUT THE DOOR because I'm NOT going back!

11/22 169.8 I am loving all of the positivity at the onset of a new round. I’m with you. We can do this. We pick ourselves up and we keep going. There is no giving up.

DH made unexpected lunch plans at a local dive cafe that makes delicious calorie bomb meals. Their house salad has cheese, bacon and fried chicken. It’s a tough one to navigate.
I am actively controlling myself from whining about it since he rarely takes the lead making social plans and always goes along with the ones I make. But GGGRRRRR!!!!!
I do have a plan but the plan involves accepting I might get a little bump.
Oh and these lunch plans also destroy my day of house projects. I had really been looking forward to an uninterrupted day to finish everything I started this week.
Rant over, I’m gonna go lift weights with my girls and turn around this attitude!9 -

I joined this group in Rnd 245 on Dec 18 2023, when I realized I was eating my way through the holidays; I finally got on the scale and was hovering just under 150 lbs. It took about 4 months to reach my goal weight of 125. Sounds great, but I’ve done this before, which is why I’m still here.
It’s not just about losing, it’s about changing the habits of a lifetime that keep me stuck in self-defeating cycles with food.

11/22: DP and I celebrated my ability to walk by going out to "dunch". NJ diners are notorious for the size of the portions, which would make a meal for a family. I had souvlaki chicken and a Greek salad, a healthy option except it came with a pile of fried zucchini sticks with tzaziki. Doesn't sound good? They're pretty irresistible, even for DP who hates zucchini and has the taste buds of an 8 year old boy. It proves the point, anything breaded and fried becomes delicious... and lethal to losing!

Set my goal to just maintain this round. A trip to MIL's, including Thanksgiving, in between two weekends. Whoof. I won't have a scale 11/25-11/30, and our last weigh-in of this round is the day after a day of road food. I feel like even maintaining is ambitious but I'm going to do the best I can under the circumstances!

11/22 - 129.8!! 🏃🏻♀️📝 Yay, broke into the 120s by the skin of my teeth. Surprising since we went out for an unplanned Brazilian dinner. I chose a steak salad which is was a good choice (and verrrry delicious). I did have 1 beer, which was not a very good choice, but not the end of the world either. The accomplishment was that it lasted until I finished my dinner despite a very long wait for food, and I didn't feel inclined for another when we got home. I ran 6 miles yesterday, and have to walk the dogs and do a short run today. I would like to lift weights but I don't feel too optimistic about fitting it in between 3 meetings and the cardio and other work I have to do. Also want to get the oil changed on my van before we drive 500 miles next week and prep some kind of dinner, maybe chili? Happy Friday!!!

11/22 133.0 YAY TMI! Got lots of steps (for me) yesterday at Walmart but when I checked my Vivofit4 it was black. I’ve had it for 202 days. I’m not happy. But I have bounced down 0.5 so that’s nice. 😊
