Boy 30 minutes of strength training this week might be harder than I thought. I just did:
33 Squats, 100 Arm curls, 30 shoulder presses, 20 front dumbbell raises and 20 side dumbbell raises... Total time in minutes??? 12 yeah 12 stinking minutes! My legs hurt, and It is killing my arms to type this! Then again I haven't done strength training in a month. I used to do the arms daily. I have 5 pound weights, well my home and food scale weighed them as 4.8. whatever.
Strength TIP: If you don't have weights at home, try cans! Stick them on the scale just to see the weight of them. Try a empty milk jug or laundry soap. Fill it up with water some and put it on the scale to get the poundage you are interested in. or a water bottle filled with beans or even dirt! No need to spend tons of money on weights, if you don't have to!0 -

208 (I'm already on the spreadsheet, just letting new people know I am here!)
I like your weekly challenges. I like feeling like I can accomplish something this day or this week instead of waiting til the month is over to feel like I did it.0 -
I'm in St. Louis. Walked/ran before our day got started. Early morning weekends will be rough!0

Going through a naughty leg and 30DS deal I hope to be sorted in a couple of days
OKIES so here is what I intend to do workout wise
Mon-Friday
Early Morning- 15min Zumba
8am onwards- 50min walk (4km pushing pram with twins) +stretches when I get home
Evening- 30DS + extra stretching (If i need rest days I will spend this time doing light bike riding, resistance band and exercise ball)
So far I have been so good water wise and truly I always was until about two weeks ago. So I hope I can keep this up
Getting out of comfort zone. I HATE people watching me exercise but yesterday, I let hubby watch me do 30DS and when i take it back up we will be doing it together. He may be working away so I am thinking we will have to do it and just ring to check up on each other
And finally I have decided to give up two vices. I am going water and milk only! No more soft drink, flavoured milk, caffeine (ok so first two days I am cutting it to one cup of tea ect a day), juice ect and next no more sugary foods i expect there to be tears by the end of tomorrow as this caffeine and sugar addicted girl goes crazy. especially because i have church tomorrow....lots of cake, tea and cordial around!0 -
Ninja: Thanks! I was going for easy for first week, to get us all into some good habits, then maybe kicking it up a notch.
SO..... If anyone has any ideas for next week, let me know!
LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MEASURE, SO I CAN CLEAN UP THE LIST. SOME OF YOU ALREADY TOLD ME, BUT IF YOU NAME IS ON THERE AND YOU KNOW YOU AREN'T GOING TO MEASURE LET ME KNOW... either here or via private message. Thanks!0 -

Awesome! Do you have 2 sets of the 30 day shred? I have twins as well, but mine turned 13 this past week... I hate people watching me as well. I HATE those mirrors in the gym, I hate to even look at me doing it! ewe! and as for the drinking thing... think of it like this... good for your body, water. AND saving money! Not purchasing that pop! LOL0 -

Wonderful! Keep track of the minutes so you can post your hour for the week! I am a morning person. If I sleep past 7am, to me, it feels like 1/2 the day is gone! I get up at 4:30 to get ready for work, so my clock is set. lol0 -
I am REALLY looking forward to this challenge! Great motivation, which really is what I need! Thanks!0

Eating out is mine as well. The gals at work ALWAYS convince me to... peer pressure. What I now do is bring no debit card, no case with me. ha ha no money, so I have to eat what I brought! Take that!
What do they say to you? Maybe we all can come up with some good comebacks to get them to knock it off!0 -
Great job Jenn!
Hope you can move tomorrow!!
Stretch, stretch, stretch!

i usually eat out for dinner because i get lazy... and my boyfriends has been letting me give in a lot!
they say things like:
thats all your eating?
you always eat vegetables
you always eat the same kind of stuff
its mostly from one person. one time last year i was walking in the hall with my salad and dressing and she said something like "salad again?" and i was kinda rude back to her with something like "ya so whats wrong with being healthy?" and she didnt really have a response... so maybe she will stop. my close friend at work has the same problem with her and suggested she might be jealous because she looks 7 months pregnant and her son is 2 years old now. people always ask her when she is due and stuff, i feel bad. but if she wants help, all she has to do is ask.0 -
October 1st!
Okay, here are my stats:
Starting Weight: 276.0
Neck: 15'
waist: 39'
Hips: 50'
Bust: 47'
At least I'm still an hourglass, sorta. Um. Yay?0 -
My SW is 158lbs, for the month of October i will be doing the Zumba DVD's , not drinking any alcohol, taking my multi-vitamins everyday and will include more veggies in my meals.0

Ok, so I actually re-weighed myself this morning and also took some measurements. My actual starting weight for this challenge is 215lbs. I know that seems like a dramatic drop from just yesterday (when I said it was 220) but when i weighed myself yesterday I was already dressed and had already eaten breakfast..plus Thursday started my "my time of the month". Sorry if that's tmi but as I'm sure the rest of you ladies know, it can have an effect on out weight lol
Officially as of this morning with no food in the stomach and no clothes on (every little thing counts lol) my stats are:
weight: 215lbs
neck: 14.5in
waist: 40in
hips: 45.5 in
So I'm down 5lbs since I really got serious with this two weeks ago. I'm also down a half inch in my neck and an inch both in my waist and hips0 -
SW is 212.5
GW for Oct is 2020 -
Happy Saturday to everyone from Payne Springs, TX!
I think starting this Challenge on a weekend, for me, is coming out of my comfort zone! lol I'm a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and I work every weekend @ night, at a local hospital! (Fri-Sun) So working 12 hrs shifts, and trying to juggle a healthy lifestyle is sometimes a challenge in itself. My calorie day goes from midnight to midnight even on wkends, so its a bit tricky sometimes manipulating my eating schedule, but i manage!!
I'm happy to report that since midnight i haven't had any Diet Mt Dew or softdrinks at all.....which was hard last night(being it was a busy night)! I stayed away from chocolate, even after being offered it MANY TIMES! lol And this morning after getting off work, i met my sister at the local walking track and did a mile(in 16 mins). Tonight i am striving to take the stairs all night...last night i took them half the night.
Good luck to everyone!! I have all the faith in the world in each of you!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!0 -
WTG Jen!!! You rock!!
I feel for ya, trying to take the stairs half the night @ work last night was rough!! My sister is around 350 lbs so i am trying to help her lose weight, and in doing that keeping myself motivated to lose more!! Anyway, I introduced her to the "KETTLEBELL" this week. Needless to say with all the squating involved, going down the stairs was fine, going up??? My thighs were screaming! LOL0 -

Brandy: I'm a surgical technologist, so I know crazy work schedules! LOL Good for you about the pop! Very hard to do I know. Mt Dew was my favorite as well, and our patients bring things in now and again. I don't know how you do midnights! I have to drink 5 hour energy's. LOL They don't give me any jitters, or racing heart! LOVE them! I want to know what the heck do I do with that stinking kettlebell! They have a ton at the gym, but I don't touch them for fear of not knowing anything and looking like a total *kitten*. lol
I got all 8 glasses in today, thank god I was home almost all day, the bathroom and I are great friends! LOL
How did you all do????0 -
@Nicole, I'm a former Diet-Cokeaholic. I treat myself every so often with a cold one and have developed an affair with water and Hawaiian Punch sugar free on the go powder drink mixes. I feel your pain and it gets better once you brainwash yourself you gotta quit overindulging in soda.
@Jenn, I finished all my water, did some strength training today ala tree pruning with 3 lb loppers over my head for an hour. Arms are sore. Got my run into day too.
Tomorrow I'm loading up the bikes and hitting a bike trail with the family. Have a good night everyone, going to watch that 'vampire and werewolf' saga with the teen.0 -
Awesome Kelly, Enjoy your movie!0

2kellyb63 - I too had an addiction to Diet Coke. I had to eliminate soda altogether to get over it. Although, I admit, I did have a Diet Coke last Wednesday (it was after Zumba and I was waiting for a pizza at the local bar - sounds terrible doesn't it). An aside - the pizza was delicious.
I am approaching 55 and my vanity hormones have kicked in. I refuse to get old or out of shape; I will not have high cholesterol, or walk with a no spring to my step. Seriously, I realize, I can only control so much. This past winter my weight bloomed and I decided to do something about it. I found MFP accidentally while looking for a calorie counter for my phone. What a happy accident! I am currently at my goal weight and want to stay there.
My diary is open to my friends; so friend me and you can peek all you want. Today was an under calorie, over water day. I did arm strengthening exercises and Hip Hop Abs as well as 30 minutes on the elliptical. I also bought a new lawn tractor, went to work, ate spaghetti and drank some wine. Overall a good day.0 -
***NEW IDEA***
IF I CAN FIGURE OUT A WAY TO MAKE THE SPREAD SHEET OPEN TO EVERYONE, SO YOU ALL CAN ADD YOUR STATS, WILL YOU/DO YOU WANT TO DO IT???
Someone else on here has it open and they are going to message me on how to do it. If you want me to continue to do it it is not a big deal, I can. I just saw it somewhere else, and I thought I'd throw it out there. I know the best part of challenges is to focus on the work not record stats.
GIVE ME SOME IDEAS FOLKS!!!
by the way from what I have seen so far, there is going to be some serious losses if everyone keeps going strong!0 -

OK try to see if you can type something on the spreadsheet! Let's see if I did it!
For those of you who want me to handle it just message me weight!

I tried typing on the spread sheet and IT WORKED. Would you want to consider putting the names in alphabetical order (I am sure Excel could sort them for you), or is there a method to how they are listed?
Thanks again for all your hard work.0
