Fell off the challenge bandwagon in round 256, managed to keep losing weight until June 12th when I hit 155.9 (70.7 kg). I fell off the weight loss wagon shortly after. Decided to start back up the day before Round 278 started.
SW RD 279: 160.3 (72.7 kg)
11/22- 160.4 (72.8 kg) Late night for me. Just got home from seeing Transiberian Orchestra. This is our 3rd or 4th time seeing it. We wait 2-3 years between shows. I forget how loud concerts can be and wish I brought earplugs. But I had a really good time, nonetheless. I'm curious how a Taco Bell quesadilla for dinner and 11pm snack of pudding will affect tomorrow's weigh in. I'm still within calorie goal though.
11/23- 159.5 (72.3 kg) Sometimes I swear the scale works in strange ways. I'm not going to sweat it. Today was a very lazy, totally sedentary day. Tomorrow I'm going to get my butt up and join my husband on the morning dog walk.
11/24- 159.4 (72.3 kg) We went on a mini driving adventure today after walking the dog. We both had gas station snacks for breakfast on the way, and even with a late lunch and a big bowl of zuppa Toscana for dinner, I'm feeling slightly hungry.
11/25- 159.8 (72.5 kg) One day down this week. Hoping to work less than a full day on Thanksgiving.
11/26-159.3 (72.3 kg) I cannot believe how fast this year is going by. Only a couple days from Thanksgiving and less than a month to Christmas! I'm going to decorate my tree this weekend.
11/27- 159.6 (72.4 kg) Tonight was the second ground beef and pasta dinner in a a row. A bit heavy but warm and filling on a cold evening. Happy Thanksgiving Eve.
11/28- 159.5 (72.3 kg) 5.5 hour day at work, home a little after 2 PM and able to go on a late afternoon walk by the river with husband and dog before a nontraditional dinner of New York strip and scalloped potatoes and watched GoldenEye (Bond movie semi-Thanksgiving tradition).
11/29- 158.7 (72 kg) I've had really poor sleep the past two nights and feel like I woke up at the wrong point in my sleep cycle today and yesterday. I'm hoping for a mentally relaxing weekend.

🎷 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 279 (my 209th). So grateful as always @Quiltingjaine for another round.
This round I’m going to join @Chapter_3 in in a BHAG of 1 pound a round to the end of the year, i.e. to weigh 138 or under. I need to shake myself up cuz only 3-5 days per round staying on the waggon is not sufficient to get me back to where I want to be. 4 pounds would really get me on my way; I want to stay strong, walk the walk as well as talk the talk! & make the round a successful one.
So, goals for this round;
• First and foremost, no feeding frenzies - (carried over from last few rounds)
• to weigh less at the end of the round than the start & a pound is my small BHAG for this round
• be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

SW RND 279 141.8
11/22 141.8 (trend 142.5) 9.03 miles walked, footpaths were quite dodgy in places with the ice, but just walked these sections gingerly:) Feeling happier in myself now that I’ve made this commitment, hoping to stick with it & keep this mind set, I know as the festive period gets closer it will become more difficult with all the various food-based meeting ups, so need to make the earlier rounds and not “festive gathering” days really count.
11/23 DNW – luckily yesterday the roads had cleared of snow & ice for us to tow the caravan out for a weekend away in Delamere Forest. Managed a 6 mile walk in the forest before darkness descended. Stayed within calorie limit.
11/24 DNW – 5.26 miles clocked up; intermittent rain scuppered our plans! We drove to Chester, plan was to walk the city walls visiting both the castle & the amphitheatre, but had to abandon quite quickly due to Storm Bert rain & wind. We ended up Christmas shopping; it proved to be quite productive, most of the DGC’s presents purchased. Heavy rain, standing water & wind might make todays journey home a bit of a challenge.
11/25 141 (trend 142.1) numbers looking better 😊, but must not get complacent. Again, no structured walking due to the weather.
11/26 141 (trend 142) – 10.71 miles walked.
11/27 141.6 (trend 141.9) – 8.87 miles walked, out pounding the pavements at 7.30 am before meeting up with DSs for lunch, stuck to an omelette & undressed salad. I’ve started drinking hot water in this cold weather and it really is not bad!!
11/28 140.6 (trend 141.8) I’m hoping that yesterday’s number was a natural fluctuation & not todays!! 7.52 miles walked.
11/29 141.8 (trend 141.8) – that is the high salt content of last night’s Indian meal; ate light the rest of the day. Picked DB up from the airport, here from Turkey for a few days, so quite a few social events imminent. No structured walking.
11/30 141 (trend 141.7) 9 miles walked, pushed lots of water.

11/30 170.4 I did think this would have dropped a little bit! My calories were good but I ate a very late dinner. Maybe not the best food choice because I waited too late in the day to eat. I’m going to prep a big salad early today so I that I stay on track once it’s dark.
Today we’ll go cut down our tree. I love, love, love decorating the house for Christmas. My weakness is eggnog and holiday spirit! I literally will be battling a ten pound egg nog weight gain for the next few weeks.
After staying under 170 for so much of the round I am motivated to give it my best today and finish this round strong.
Thankful for JGMTD’s!!!! If it was “just give me fourteen days I might say- drink the egg nog today, you have four more days to drop the gain”9 -

11/24 ⚖️ discouraging even though I’ve stayed on plan. I have a lot of stress (cortisol) & my body is retaining everything. P:E 1:1 P90g. Your posts are encouraging! Today I will 🚶♀️, decompress, take time to smell the roses & 🏋️♀️.
11/25 I started my walk yesterday & decided to turn around because of foot pain on pavement. It’s amazing how my foot is not as impacted on a clay tennis court vs hard surface. Thinking of taking the trail @ local park.
🏋️♀️45 min 💤8 P:E 1:1 Pg 120 under calories.
DGS is in for a morning basketball camp M through W this week. I am the chauffeur and looking forward to it!
11/26. 131.0 this feels right. I’m more relaxed. Systems finally functioned*** (will note below). Good day 💦yesterday. Only 🚶♀️5k but 🤸🏼🏋️♀️45 min. 1:1 Pg 90. 🎾 today & will finish shopping & begin prepping for Friday. (We host family Friday since everyone is scattered about Thursday!) Going with a Tapas /Spanish theme…. 14 adults /six children.
*** Discovery: I can honestly say that over this year + I have not gone off the rails… I’ve indulged a teeny bit here and there, but that’s about it… I feel like I have developed & worked to ingrain heathy eating & movement/mobility choices/patterns and possess a true North.
What I discovered since Friday is that my IBS is back. We experienced a very stressful family situation & my body retained everything & had a full total system shutdown. The shut down was not from something I ate. It wasn’t a bug! It wasn’t a virus! It was an emotional experience. I’m realizing that my 2 to 3 lb daily fluctuations could be purely emotional - manifesting in a physical shut down. I’ve been puffy for a week and retaining everything, but little difference in food.
Another difference that has taken place recently is my walking has simply disappeared since I hurt my foot… It’s 12 days now. Walking clearly helps my digestive system stay on track. It gives me time to think and breathe… Pray, and be with nature.
So I’m sharing my hypothesis:
Daily fluctuations may not have anything to do with food intake… it could simply be a hitch in bodily systems - caused by emotions, stress, lack of sleep, etc. So I have finally realized that the scale is not only a reflection of what I have eaten… It’s a reflection of my entire being.
Mind, body, soul are intimately connected. I hope sharing this may help someone. (Disclaimer – I am not an expert!!!)

11/29 DNW Yesterdays recap: 🏋️♀️30 min 🚶♀️7k. No tracking. I tasted a little bit of everything @ my son’s… No overindulging, but super high in carbs. I give myself a “B-” A simply wonderful visit!
Today’s our big day, hosting 20… I’ll check in tomorrow!
11/30 DNW “D-” only because I could have stopped with one dessert and one glass of wine. At least I didn’t have three of each. (Hence, a D- and not a flat out F) Family dynamics couldn’t have been better! (Was sweating it out there for a little while… blended families aren’t the easiest). My DS & his fiancé announced a baby on the way… after a four -year engagement there will finally be a wedding in a few weeks. (😀). 11/22 157 Weight was creeping up the last 5 days of last round. Went out to eat last night and the food was delicious. But, I’ve got to get a grip on things again and stop the creep. This is a dangerous time of year for me, and I know it! “Danger, Will Robinson!”
11/23 156.8 I did well yesterday and hoped for a bigger drop this morning. Patience, I guess.
11/24 156 That’s better. Going to see Wicked tonight at the theater, so dinner will be popcorn. Have to manage the rest of the day to allow for that, but I’m looking forward to the movie! Will focus on high protein the rest of the day. Will also be beginning the Thanksgiving baking today, so…wish me luck!
11/25 155 My plan for the movie worked out good. Ate only high protein breakfast yesterday, a few nuts and bolts I had made in the afternoon, drank a protein shake right before getting in the car, and then I only ate a little popcorn at the movie. If you have NOT yet seen Wicked, it is absolutely amazing! Feels like you are at live theater, which I LOVE. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
11/26 156.8 Made sausage balls. Need I say more? Lol
11/27 155.8 That’s a little better because I found my self-control again yesterday even though I made pecan pies and blueberry cobbler by request. The sausage balls are in the fridge where they don't tempt me like they did cooling on the cookie racks. Just need to hold things in check during the next few days. Need to continue to get in my walks each day like I've been doing lately. That would be the one thing I would add to @judefit1 's refrigerator list: Move it like your life depends on it! (because my future quality of life does!)
11/28 156 Happy Thanksgiving! I enjoyed a few of the holiday treats yesterday, but maintained control and balanced out the calories throughout the day. Got in three different exercise sessions—morning workout which was cut a little short by company coming down, a good walk in the afternoon, then before bed yoga. It was a good day!
11/28 157.2 I started to not weigh this morning, but thought better of it. Thanksgiving was a wonderful day with family from here and afar, and a 1.2 lb gain is something I can manage. I have 3 days to get back to a loss for this round, so that will be the goal. I didn’t overeat yesterday, no stuffing of the face and tummy, just ate higher calorie and carb foods than usual. Will focus on protein, water, and activity today.
11/29 155.8 That’s better! Got in a walk and a rowing session yesterday with attention to protein and water. I’m not still dealing with company though like many of you— just leftovers. I managed to only eat one small serving of dessert and we had sent all of the Mac n cheese and corn home with DD. We have booked a trip to NYC in January to see Wicked on Broadway, so I have a warm but form-fitting dress planned which is providing a little extra motivation right now. :-)

I joined this group in Rnd 245 on Dec 18 2023, when I realized I was eating my way through the holidays; I finally got on the scale and was hovering just under 150 lbs. It took about 4 months to reach my goal weight of 125. Sounds great, but I’ve done this before, which is why I’m still here.
It’s not just about losing, it’s about changing the habits of a lifetime that keep me stuck in self-defeating cycles with food.

11/30: I'll take it, but it's critical to stay on task for the next 3 weeks. I love the idea from @Chapter_3 and @musicsax of "a pound a round", so that's going in my next 3 rounds, which would bring me back to goal weight. This will be a real accomplishment as this is my absolute favorite food time of year- I usually start cookie baking next week and continue right up until the end... Can I do it and eat only one cookie per recipe?
@Chapter_3: Carolyn, congratulations on another baby coming into the family!! BTW, that's how my DD#1 finally did the wedding thing too, and it was wonderful:-)

My exercise, water and step count have all also dropped considerably. Goals this month are simply to lose as much as possible building momentum and getting back in the groove.
June Goals: Having gotten as low as 193 in both April and May, I'd like to drop below that in June. (FAIL)

MAY 1st SW: 197.3 | EW: 196.8
MAY Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat ❎❎❎
May 22: I had packed some shorts to change into after swim without trying them on. They were so tight last summer, I expected the fit to be better ~ but when I put them on ... wow. I was in front of the locker room mirrors and was like omg, that's you. How long has it been since you looked/felt like that? I was spinning around looking at myself for a good 2-3 minutes, y'all, lol ~ my New #1NSV
May 4: 10 of the 20 inches lost was off my belly! No pics, no proof, lol ~ I love/hate taking photos because they've become one of my best tools. You can't lie and you can't hide. Putting myself on blast 1) creates incentive to increase effort and 2) highlights new areas to focus on. Still a long way from my ultimate goals, but its nice to see muscle memory is real! At a size 15, I haven't been this small in more than 10 years.
APRIL 1st SW: 198.2 | EW: 197.8
Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat ❎❎❎
Lost less than a pound, 1.25 inches combined on arms and legs | regained 0.2% body fat and 1/2 inch back on my belly. Starting dietary 200-400 calorie deficit and Intermittent Fasting 18-24 hrs. Breaking fast differently, including more protein, and continuing to look for new ways to increase step count and add more strength in May.
Reaching onederland (March 13th) meant the end of 10+ years and up to 80 pounds!! gained and relost too many times to count. Yo-yoing is the main reason for so much body fat!!! Determined not to continue to self-sabotage ... I need a new target!! If I should lose an additional 8% body fat to reach the "standard" for my age, height and sex ~ and up to 15% more to reach excellent ~ that's @ least another 8-15 months of work before I can begin to relax and think maintenance.
January 1st - April 1st, I've lost 17 pounds and a total of 20.8 inches from 11 areas. 🥳 Thrilled to see my hard work reversing prediabetes and years of physical damage. Getting leaner and stronger and chair dancing proud of myself about it!! 57 and hormonal, it's taken longer than expected and a much rougher road than my youth.6 -

Hi, I'm Charissa, back for another round. I will keep coming back and I will get this thing right, sooner or later.
Thank you, QuiltingJaine, for keeping us focused in 2024!
Less than 6 weeks left in his year...
Opening CommentsRound 278 - I changed scales, which immediately bumped me up 1 lb. If I factor in that change, I probably did break even for the round and my brain needs to hear that!🙂 Round 279 with Thanksgiving in the middle. I will focus on all the other days and not worry about that one day. There are a few things that will increase my calories on that day > Homemade macaroni and Cheese and pecan pie. The jury is still out on whether I attempt my Mom's home made rolls.
I am considering rejoining a gym. I have my workout space in the basement that's adequate, but I miss the leg workouts on the machines and I'm finding that my intensity is waning. I looked into Planet Fitness (was a member pre-covid), then I looked at another exercise center (was a member there maybe 8 years ago) (with a women only weight room , with fitness classes and jacuzzi). To my delight, because I am considered a senior, the cost of the exercise center is the same for the PF multiple club membership!!! The exercise center is about 7 additional minutes away, but I think I'm good with that!!!

11/29 -192.4- (Trend weight-191.6-) Still working myself to death to prep the house on all 3 floors for our Thanksgiving tomorrow and the houseful of Grands. It’s amazing how far the drywall sand travels and how thick it can accumulate. I will also be starting some of my baking. I woke up starving so today will be challenging but tomorrow’s dinner will be worse, especially dessert (pies!)
11/30 -193.0- (Trend weight-191.7-) I’m very surprised by this jump. I thought yesterday went very well. Thanksgiving Feast today with all of the family. I got the last of the drywall dust mess that covered EVERYTHING on 3 floors of this house completely done by 11:00 last night. I ate well and burned a ton of calories so I’m confused. I gained 3.8 lbs this week. For the entire month of November I’ve gained 2.4 lbs. Not a good month. Oh, and here comes December! Tomorrow will not end with a good weight due to my Thanksgiving dinner today. I’m not sure if I should weigh anyway which would give me an unfair advantage during the next 10 days or wait one extra buffer day to report my weight. I’ll decide in the morning I guess.

36F 5’9Goals: don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.
Main struggles:
1. sleeping less (have two puppies, a 6mo and a 10mo old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
2. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.

11/30 - 177.1 - sheesh. Never feels good when the number goes up. I guess it only makes sense with the holiday. I got a leg workout in this morning. Ate dinner early. I did find myself putting more on my plate even though I have planned since yesterday how much I was going to have. Interesting how that happens. I think it was because there was only “a little” left in the left over container so clearly it had to go on my plate. 💆🏻♀️ as this was happening I was asking myself why are you doing this when you said you wouldn’t? Hm. Anyway, because of that I told myself I would adjust the remainder of the day. It’s time to get back out of the habit of just snacking for comfort. So far so good. The night is not over but I plan on drinking the rest of my water and if I do need a snack I have room for yogurt. I like the Chobani yogurts because of the protein and because they satisfy sugar craving if you’re looking for something sweet. The Chobani flips, or fruit on the bottom, or they have yogurt drinks with 20g of protein, always stay stocked in the fridge. And of course there’s always a nice hot cup of tea at night! Good hack to satisfy the need to snack for no reason. 💪🏽 let’s do this!

11/30- 158.4 (71.8 kg) Friends in town this afternoon and had lunch out and ordered in pizza for dinner. No calorie counts available, but by my best estimate I'm just under maintenance for the day. I'm happy with that. I also got my tree mostly decorated this morning, Christmas stockings up, and even put up my upstairs tree this year too.

So, goals for this round;

12/1 141.6 (trend 141.7) only walking was quite a stroll, visited a Narnia themed Wrest Park & wandered around the grounds. 1 pound lost this round which is in line with my BGHG & no binge this round at all, so that’s all goals met!! Yippee, let’s do that next round too.
👍👍This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE & I AM WHAT I EAT!!!!! 👍👍.

I resisted the call of the egg nog. It sat like a little devil on my shoulder, whispering in my ear tempting me. I did however eat off plan. I did not prep my dinner salad early. I waited until I was overly hungry to eat dinner so I said yes to pizza and wings.
Over all it was a good round. Today I will be putting on my Olaf from Frozen costume and entertaining children at my village’s winter festival. Always a good time, let’s hope I keep my tree stick gloves on, so I can’t sneak treats all afternoon!!!6 -

11/30 “D-” only because I could have stopped with one dessert and one glass of wine. (😀). Unexpected. Inexplicable. Flabbergasted. Huh?!
My system hasn’t worked in four days so let’s see how long this sticks. Yes, I have eaten “different” than I usually do and MORE - But not to actually warrant this reading - SIX lbs!?!?!????? This is actually SCARY. Taking long, deep breaths. Carolyn, you know your body is temperamental so be patient.
Certainly not the BHAG of -1 pound like I thought I had scored four days ago… WHATEVER this is, it will be gone in a few days/next round. Sheesh! (Actually, I am not quite in a TOTAL FREAK OUT mode right now - but almost).Almost. But certainly, beside myself. Flabbergasted.
Check: mind, body, spirit.

12/1: yeah, wrong direction and I ate pretty well yesterday. I think the real issue is I've been having a glass of wine with dinner at night. I'm 24 days from a full year and I want to be heading in the right direction, so...tomorrow.
Our big Thanksgiving is today’s annual "Pasta Bowl", which involves lasagna and a family wide football game including all from toddler to retiree. Most years in includes pasta trophies for the winning team (I may make them today) This year I'll be ref as I'm still on the IL. Go red team!
Here's last year's trophies:

Didn’t post yesterday because I got an early start in the woods looking for Bambi’s mom. (I didn’t find her.)
Even though I burned a lot of calories yesterday, this morning is testament to all the calories-in and almost nothing-out (TMI.) Last night was a little get together for DGD’s 1st birthday. I was not mindful. DW made lima beans which she hates and I LOVE. I rarely see them under my roof. I over indulged.

With guests in the house I have not weighed the past two days. The scale is in the guest bathroom so I avoid going in there undressed. Just as well. Let’s just say I will be happy by the end of this round to match my SW.
So, I am just checking in to see how you all are doing.
While I am here, I could mention something I may have discovered yesterday. I let my DW be the gate keeper for some of my food choices.
She says “how about a frozen pizza?” I say “heck yes!”
She says “who would eat a Klondike Bar?” I say “of course!”
She just wants to be a gracious host to our guests. I hobo along like I have no choice about what to let in through my gate! (gate = cake hole)
Step one: Don’t blame DW!

Wow, a harsh weekend, and now Thanksgiving is coming up. As usual I am in charge of the bird. Throwing it on the smoker again this year. It is an 18.5 pounder thawing in the fridge since yesterday. I hope it will thaw through by Thursday morning.

Getting ready for a house full tomorrow.
Some of you may have heard of a “God Box.” It is box in which you put notes to God. In effect, you are turning it over to Him, taking it out of your hands. So much so that you can just throw the contents of the box away, because it is taken care of.
Yesterday I emptied my God Box. I did something I have been wanting to do for a long while. It needed to happen before I die. (don’t be alarmed. My day of passing is scheduled, but not published by my creator yet) I burned about 30 of my personal journals. They are now ash.
I love to sit and think/write/sketch/process/pray and I have been filling Moleskine journals for years. (decades?) I have spent so much time with them, in a sense they are me… at frozen moments in time. So, why burn them?
1. They are not me. ( But I will keep writing more frozen moments)
2. They are for my eyes only. They might have been interesting to my family someday, but perhaps hurtful too. I wrote like no one would read it. I burned them with full blessing of Joan.
3. There have been some bumps on the life road that I needed to write about. I don’t even want to reread some of it.
4. Some of it would need interpretation, unavailable in my passing. My legacy should not be defined by something I wrote in 1994.
5. They took up a lot of space. 😊
I am thankful.

Lots of food in and nothing out. Not sure what stepping on the scale after that proves.

Round 279 ends with a whimper. But my family time with kiddos was fantastic. It was fun to see my two prickly kids actually get along this year. I think the magnet was how much DD LOVED my DS’s one-year-old daughter.
So many leftovers…

I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.7 -
This is just such a fun and varied group! I love having a tiny window into your lives to learn about things like: pasta trophies, the bike bus, invigilating companions, taking a walk with your horse, quilting bees, family drama, grand children and more than I can recall. We are all united in the battle against the bulge. Celebrating successes and trials unites us and makes us stronger. Looks like The Bulge won this round for many, me included, but not the war!!! I'm sticking it out and will get through Eating Season for the better just because of this group. We still have a month to go before January 1.

@jspecies11 I don't see that @quiltingjaine has not posted it yet.
I've messaged @quiltingjaine to see if she wants me to post the new round, if it's not up by this evening, I will do it anyway just in case she has an IT problem.4
