Hi! I’m Amanda, 5’2”, 39F in Virginia.

Set my goal to just maintain this round. A trip to MIL's, including Thanksgiving, in between two weekends. Whoof. I won't have a scale 11/25-11/30, and our last weigh-in of this round is the day after a day of road food. I feel like even maintaining is ambitious but I'm going to do the best I can under the circumstances!
NS GOALS:

11/22 - 129.8!! 🏃🏻♀️📝 Yay, broke into the 120s by the skin of my teeth. Surprising since we went out for an unplanned Brazilian dinner. I chose a steak salad which is was a good choice (and verrrry delicious). I did have 1 beer, which was not a very good choice, but not the end of the world either. The accomplishment was that it lasted until I finished my dinner despite a very long wait for food, and I didn't feel inclined for another when we got home. I ran 6 miles yesterday, and have to walk the dogs and do a short run today. I would like to lift weights but I don't feel too optimistic about fitting it in between 3 meetings and the cardio and other work I have to do. Also want to get the oil changed on my van before we drive 500 miles next week and prep some kind of dinner, maybe chili? Happy Friday!!!
11/23-130.0🏃🏻♀️📝 Not too bad as far as Fridays go. DH took over the weekend meals. He recently went to a conference in Malta and is now on a Mediterranean diet kick which is just fine with me! Last night was spaghetti and salad with toast and good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Tonight is salmon, and I’m sure, salad with olive oil and vinegar. I’m going to see Wicked today and haven’t strategized when and how to eat. Definitely going to have to squeeze lunch in before the 12:25 showing. Maybe I can share a “small” popcorn with DS.
11/24 - 129.6 📝 Wow, never have I ever weighed less on Sunday than Saturday, lol! We’ll see if there is a rebound tomorrow, the last day I’ll have a scale until the last day of the round. When I tracked late last night I ended up around maintenance calories. It’s always kind of a crapshoot though. Today is just getting ready for our big trip tomorrow and trying to not leave the house a total pig sty for the house sitter. Oh and I have to run 4 miles or so. Sunday Funday, the adult version!
11/25 - 130.6 🏃🏻♀️ I’d normally be pleased to be up less than a pound after the weekend but I have to change this trajectory going into a week at MIL’s. Not on track for that on the road today. Breakfast burrito containing fried chicken and bacon, fried chicken wrap and pretzel fries for lunch at Burger King, ugh. I need a salad shop with a playground please?! Dinner will be lasagna after we get there. Trying to drink as much water as I can without increasing bathroom stops. Hoping I can channel some recent success into not being completely off the rails all week!

11/27 - 🏃🏻♀️ DNW. Just checking in as a reminder to myself to think before I eat all the things. Family time has me very busy. My MIL is serving “Swedish dinner” tonight and Thanksgiving tomorrow. I don’t know how she does it; I would be so overwhelmed! My kids have 6 cousins here to play with which is the very best! Good to catch up with sibs-in-law as well. Lake effect snow is predicted Friday-Monday here and we’re leaving Saturday, so I’m a little anxious about that (but also excited to see snow since we hardly got any last winter in VA!)
11/28 - DNW 🏃🏻♀️ HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!! Grateful to this group and especially to @quiltingjaine for keeping the rounds going! Woke up to a little snow this morning. The boys got to build a snowman 🥰 I ran 8 miles and am ready to celebrate!
11/29 - DNW 🏃🏻♀️ No activity planned for today. Last day visiting family. We’re taking a whole bunch of kiddos to see Moana 2. I’m coming down with a cold that completely wrecked my sleep last night. Viruses always circulate at these family gatherings. It’s worth it but exhausting!

12/1 - 129.4! I was really surprised to see a loss this round. I did make good choices on the road yesterday and tried to moderate all week but didn’t meet my non-scale goals at alllll. Hoping this luck will continue into the next rounds! I wanted to respond to a bunch of people but my kids are on top of me. See everyone in Round 280!8 -

I was concerned about restarting during Thanksgiving Week, but finishing these first seven days much more aware of my body and its new limitations. "Eye-opening" is an understatement. Trying to move with these extra 25 pounds feels like being trapped in an marshmallow costume made of cardboard.

TO ALL - Yes, I failed to post the next round. I thought I had done it on Friday. I must have been affected by Thursday overload. 😁 It is actually the FIRST time I believe I didn’t feel stuffed after Thanksgiving! As @musicsax said, she messaged me this morning and she will post Round 280. Time zones around the world make it easy to have multiple starts - it happened a few years ago. I don’t remember who said what in round 276 but something in my brain clicked. I am getting back to my old routine of longer daily fasts - at least 18 hours which includes sleep time.

11/22 133.0 YAY TMI! Got lots of steps (for me) yesterday at Walmart but when I checked my Vivofit4 it was black. I’ve had it for 202 days. I’m not happy.

11/26 135.0 After the food selection at the potluck I’m surprised I didn’t go up. There were only 2 mains and about 20 desserts. Steak and sweet potato today and maybe a protein shake.

11/28 135.0 HAPPY THANKSGIVING USA I made 5 pies to take to DD’s house today will fix whipped cream, green beans and stuffing this morning.
11/29 135.5 I didn’t over eat yesterday but there were many carbs. I had a peach mimosa, one small dinner roll and 2 slivers of pie - 1 pecan and 1 berry. DD is recovering well from her surgery. She walks laps around the kitchen island and she even manages the stairs. Thank you for your prayers!

Less than 6 weeks left in his year...
Opening CommentsRound 278 - I changed scales, which immediately bumped me up 1 lb. If I factor in that change, I probably did break even for the round and my brain needs to hear that!🙂 Round 279 with Thanksgiving in the middle. I will focus on all the other days and not worry about that one day. There are a few things that will increase my calories on that day > Homemade macaroni and Cheese and pecan pie. The jury is still out on whether I attempt my Mom's home made rolls.
I am considering rejoining a gym. I have my workout space in the basement that's adequate, but I miss the leg workouts on the machines and I'm finding that my intensity is waning. I looked into Planet Fitness (was a member pre-covid), then I looked at another exercise center (was a member there maybe 8 years ago) (with a women only weight room , with fitness classes and jacuzzi). To my delight, because I am considered a senior, the cost of the exercise center is the same for the PF multiple club membership!!! The exercise center is about 7 additional minutes away, but I think I'm good with that!!!

11/30 DNW ~ I'm sure I'm not where I want to be.... Thanksgiving was great. I didn't overdo it but I still ate lots of foods that I don't eat on a regular basis, including homemade rolls and pecan pie! It was all good and worth it...now back to regular programming!

@Chapter_3 ~ I am in denial and refusing to face the scale for just that reason. I'm actually in a good mindset right now after the holidays and I want to keep it there. As you know, it's just temporary, probably just water retention from additional sodium. Hang in there!
@capewrathultra ~ I hope you change your mind and continue with us. Each round is a new opportunity, there will be ups and downs. And this time of year is particularly challenging. Hope to see you in round 280.

12/01 - 161.2 - Shocked to be down this morning as we were traveling yesterday and I did not eat well nor did I get enough water or steps. I'm aiming to get back on track today with meeting my macros, drinking enough water, and getting in my steps. Thanksgiving went well and then we went out of town Friday for a concert. Got back late last night. Meals are prepped for this week's dinners and breakfast (I made sweet potato "toast"). Hoping things will settle back in. Coach is aiming to get me on a workout program this week as my Christmas gift which is exciting. I'm sure I'll be doing my standard leg day tomorrow morning since she typically doesn't do check ins until mid-to-late morning and I'll be working.

11/25 - How have I missed so many days?! I swear I posted Saturday but maybe I just thought I did? Oh well. I'm rather shocked I'm not up more today as I had wine and a last-minute change in dinner. I was over my fat goal by 13g (3g with buffer) and under carbs by 19g (9 with buffer) but that's close enough for an unplanned change in meals. Gym today complete. It is closed Thursday for Thanksgiving so I really need to focus on getting there tomorrow, Wednesday, and Friday. Wednesday and Friday I'm off work so it'll be that much harder to get up and go but my health is a priority so I'll manage. Coach is keeping macros for one more week since we just changed last week but plans to up me a bit more next week. She also wants to gift me some workout programming as an early Christmas gift as a thank you for being a model client - she tells me what to do and I execute consistently. I'm not perfect, but I put in the effort and she recognizes that. I'm excited to see what she has in store (: I'll start that Monday
11/26 - I'll take it! I'm a tad sore from leg day yesterday but nothing so bad I'd expect an increase. I was within macros yesterday, though on the higher end. I absolutely did not want to get up this morning but I pushed through for back day and had a very solid workout. Today is my last day of work before vacation so I just need to get through! Food is planned out and pre-logged for today and I'm about 25g shy for carbs but that's easy enough to make up for. Feeling pretty good. I had forgotten until this morning that I have a concert out-of-town on Friday evening and overnight stay through Saturday to account for as well so I'll need to be really mindful. At least I can plan ahead now!

Main struggles:
1. sleeping less (have two puppies, a 6mo and a 10mo old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
2. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.

12/1 - 176.4 - started the day with 60mins of cardio, walking up an incline on the treadmill. The day has been pretty good so far. I finished my meals for the day early so I anticipate going over before the end of the night. When I meal prep, I usually try to make meals that are high in protein with reasonable calorie content. Holiday leftovers are way higher in calories so it’s throwing my days off. That’s ok though. First challenge in the books. Definitely improved my mindset since before starting the challenge. Much to work on there, but for that I am happy. I have been feeling like I needed a refresh, and to renew my motivation and outlook on my goals. Looking forward to future challenges!

11/30 -193.0- (Trend weight-191.7-) I’m very surprised by this jump. I thought yesterday went very well. Thanksgiving Feast today with all of the family. I got the last of the drywall dust mess that covered EVERYTHING on 3 floors of this house completely done by 11:00 last night. I ate well and burned a ton of calories so I’m confused. I gained 3.8 lbs this week. For the entire month of November I’ve gained 2.4 lbs. Not a good month. Oh, and here comes December! Tomorrow will not end with a good weight due to my Thanksgiving dinner today. I’m not sure if I should weigh anyway which would give me an unfair advantage during the next 10 days or wait one extra buffer day to report my weight. I’ll decide in the morning I guess.
12/01 -194.2- (Trend weight-192.0-) Well, here is the expected gain after our family Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I really didn’t feel like I ate very much as I got full pretty quickly. However, there are so many starches / carbs that I’m just not used to having all at once. Hopefully some of this will flush out. December will be tough because I have to travel so much, every time I need to shop for Christmas. Living in a very remote rural area is beautiful but very inconvenient at times, especially this time of year! We are expecting 4 more inches of snow today but I won’t complain. A town about 60 miles from me just got a record snowfall of 25” on Friday beating a record that had been held since 1942. Winter is officially here in my neck of the woods! See you next round.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

11/22- 160.4 (72.8 kg) Late night for me. Just got home from seeing Transiberian Orchestra. This is our 3rd or 4th time seeing it. We wait 2-3 years between shows. I forget how loud concerts can be and wish I brought earplugs. But I had a really good time, nonetheless. I'm curious how a Taco Bell quesadilla for dinner and 11pm snack of pudding will affect tomorrow's weigh in. I'm still within calorie goal though.
11/23- 159.5 (72.3 kg) Sometimes I swear the scale works in strange ways. I'm not going to sweat it. Today was a very lazy, totally sedentary day. Tomorrow I'm going to get my butt up and join my husband on the morning dog walk.
11/24- 159.4 (72.3 kg) We went on a mini driving adventure today after walking the dog. We both had gas station snacks for breakfast on the way, and even with a late lunch and a big bowl of zuppa Toscana for dinner, I'm feeling slightly hungry.

11/29- 158.7 (72 kg) I've had really poor sleep the past two nights and feel like I woke up at the wrong point in my sleep cycle today and yesterday. I'm hoping for a mentally relaxing weekend.
11/30- 158.4 (71.8 kg) Friends in town this afternoon and had lunch out and ordered in pizza for dinner. No calorie counts available, but by my best estimate I'm just under maintenance for the day. I'm happy with that. I also got my tree mostly decorated this morning, Christmas stockings up, and even put up my upstairs tree this year too.

11/22 157 Weight was creeping up the last 5 days of last round. Went out to eat last night and the food was delicious. But, I’ve got to get a grip on things again and stop the creep. This is a dangerous time of year for me, and I know it! “Danger, Will Robinson!”

11/25 155 My plan for the movie worked out good. Ate only high protein breakfast yesterday, a few nuts and bolts I had made in the afternoon, drank a protein shake right before getting in the car, and then I only ate a little popcorn at the movie. If you have NOT yet seen Wicked, it is absolutely amazing! Feels like you are at live theater, which I LOVE. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

11/27 155.8 That’s a little better because I found my self-control again yesterday even though I made pecan pies and blueberry cobbler by request. The sausage balls are in the fridge where they don't tempt me like they did cooling on the cookie racks. Just need to hold things in check during the next few days. Need to continue to get in my walks each day like I've been doing lately. That would be the one thing I would add to @judefit1 's refrigerator list: Move it like your life depends on it! (because my future quality of life does!)
11/28 156 Happy Thanksgiving! I enjoyed a few of the holiday treats yesterday, but maintained control and balanced out the calories throughout the day. Got in three different exercise sessions—morning workout which was cut a little short by company coming down, a good walk in the afternoon, then before bed yoga. It was a good day!
11/28 157.2 I started to not weigh this morning, but thought better of it. Thanksgiving was a wonderful day with family from here and afar, and a 1.2 lb gain is something I can manage. I have 3 days to get back to a loss for this round, so that will be the goal. I didn’t overeat yesterday, no stuffing of the face and tummy, just ate higher calorie and carb foods than usual. Will focus on protein, water, and activity today.
11/29 155.8 That’s better! Got in a walk and a rowing session yesterday with attention to protein and water. I’m not still dealing with company though like many of you— just leftovers. I managed to only eat one small serving of dessert and we had sent all of the Mac n cheese and corn home with DD. We have booked a trip to NYC in January to see Wicked on Broadway, so I have a warm but form-fitting dress planned which is providing a little extra motivation right now. :-)

12/1 156.2 Well, after yesterday’s higher than I wanted weigh in, I eeked out a tiny loss for the round. I’ve gotten more serious about exercise the last couple days and hope to continue that focus in the next round. I've not been working as hard on any of this the last couple months, and it shows in a VERY slow, almost stalled, weight loss result. Time to get back to work! Thanks, @UTMom81! "Tough love" (even self-imposed) works for me. It gets my juices flowing, and pushes me in the right direction. I've actually went in the wrong direction the whole month since returning to MFP. Again, not MFP's fault. A lot going on in my world, and I need to keep focused on my weight goals.
