Trying to get back to posting now that I am back from Michigan. I had a good time, except when on the last day I locked my grandsons keys in his car while the car was running. He had to get to college.. so he took his moms car, which his mom was not too happy about. I called AAA to unlock his car, which they did, but grandson had a meeting with his guidance counselor, and was freaking out. Oh well.. it all worked out OK. He did not wreck his moms car, we got his car unlocked, and he met on time with his guidance counselor.
But.. the day before I left I was in Urgent Care for 5 hrs with daughter. She was out running...on the ice... and fell. She broke her ankle, so needs surgery on thursday. They will put in plates and screws! We are trying to get her to come out and stay with us, but she said she sleeps better in her apartment. I as a mom would not worry as much if she was here, but, she is 46, and hubby thinks this is better, as she tends to stay up very late. So.. its one day at a time, and just try and go with the flow.
so tomorrow.. I'm going to try and get back to the gym, try and eat better, and stop my snacking. I was hoping I would have lost weight when at my DILs.. but she had so many pies and junk left there.. plus I was bored.. I think all I did was sit and watch tv and eat LOL! Oh.. and walked their dog 3 times a day. But, also so good to be home.

    Recap Sunday 12/8
    1) Church 9:00 / Christmas music program 4:00 (choir arrive 3:00) / reception after (with lite food)
    2) Judicious choices at reception ~ choices not bad, total guess for logging / log all food (best guess) / 64 oz water ~ busy day, a bit light at 56 / net calories zero :p who knows?
    3) Walk? Min. 5000 steps
    4) Other? ran through music at home, P.O. to mail donations, read, empty paper bin into recycle bin  ta-da!

JFT M 12/9 ~ Yay! Sun is finally out ☀️ plus temps mild
    1) Cook more pasta & leftover spaghetti for supper / log all food / limit sweets & snacks / net calories zero / 80 oz water
    2) Walk
    3) Dog vet check & bandage change 10:00 ~ went very well, some stitches removed but not all, maybe next week <3 / boil eggs / wash dishes / usual M garbage chores / call Mom / read / digital declutter / other?

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    67 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
      * moussaka America's Test Kitchen tv show ~ very tasty, nice size portions & filling, though complicated with four distinct layers & many prep steps ~ nice to have an alternate eggplant recipe
      * peach cobbler (BH&G) used qt fresh peaches grown in Ripon
      * ratatouille (loveandlemons.com) very good vegetarian dish, uses lots of late summer/early fall veggies
      * potato leek soup (AllRecipes.com) ~ very good alternate leek soup recipe, easy to make... chopping up so many potatoes was the worst part LOL
      * roasted daikon radishes (internet) ~ too long in oven, but seemed to have good flavor, will try again
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]

      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run

Good morning! I had a pretty sedentary day yesterday but made pretty healthy food choices and logged everything in MFP, so that was a win. My husband fell off a ladder getting Christmas decorations out of the attic in the garage on Saturday so is laid up on the couch elevating his ankle, and I spent most of the day hanging with him. Thank God it wasn't anything worse than his ankle. I didn't even know he was out there getting into the attic, so it could have been awhile before I even found him had it been worse. Scary how quickly things can happen.

@mytime6630 I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's injury! I would worry also...I don't care how old my kids are...I still always worry. Hugs to you and prayers for a successful surgery and speedy uneventful recovery. I'm glad you had a nice visit to Michigan! I love going to see family and I love getting away from home for a change of scenery but it's always so nice to get home!

It's sunny and in the 40's here today so I'm taking Maddie for a walk and then I have a ton to do since i've been seriously sitting on my keester for a week! I've been fighting a cold and have just been really tired for some reason so have been listening to my body and resting. Feeling a little better today.

Tomorrow we are going to Tim's aunt's funeral and then we go straight to oncology clinic for my treatment. I think I will come on here tonight to assess how I did today and enter tomorrow's goals since I'm sure I won't get to it tomorrow morning.

    Have a great day!

Recap M 12/9 ~ Yay! Sun is finally out ☀️ plus temps mild
    1) Cook more pasta & leftover spaghetti for supper ~ weighed pasta again, so keeping up with that / log all food / limit sweets & snacks ~ banana & several cookies from cookie walk but I tried one I absolutely did not like and I threw the rest of that one away, a huge win for me / net calories zero ~ red 200 with guess for cookies / 80 oz water
    2) Walk :sunglasses: 3.69 mi happy me, only 1.6 km to complete distance challenge
    3) Dog vet check & bandage change 10:00 ~ went very well, some stitches removed but not all, maybe next week <3 / boil eggs / wash dishes ~ nope no energy left / usual M garbage chores / call Mom <3 / read ~ no / digital declutter / other? hubby hauled 40# bag of birdseed into garage for me & I filled plastic containers, brought up bathroom supplies from basement, put other stuff in storage  ta-da!

JFT 12/10 T ~ cloudy again, temps cooler but not frigid
    1) Leftovers for supper / limit sweets & snacks / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz water
    2) Walk
    3) Prep gift & card for mail carrier (she loves our dog & always has treats) / print address labels for cards / wash dishes / sort thru 2025 calendars / read / digital declutter / finance tasks? / other?

    About me:

March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]

    August: 5 days x1wk, 4x2, 1x1 {hot/humid & scheduling conflicts}
    September: 5 days x1wk {including Annual Bridge Walk ~ double-crosser on The Mighty Mac}, 4x1, 3x2 {prep & colonoscopy so limited exercise}

        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July / Aug / Sept / Oct /
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run
      • Registered early (shoot, didn't get selected randomly for waiver of fee) on 12.29.23 for 6.8.24 Bellin 10K race ~ light rain most of race, steady rain last mile or so :star: chip time 1:42:35 ave. pace 16:31 (first half 16:50 second half 16:12) overall 3,136 out of 3,463 / females 1,560 out of 1,792 / F65-69yo 30 out of 48 ~ not as fast as I used to go, but still finished my 27th Bellin overall (their 48th year)

    Hello JFT friends!

Didn’t have time to hop on yesterday. We went to Tim’s aunts funeral, went to my oncology appointment and then my grandson called and asked if I would come to his basketball game, so of course we did that! Today is going to be spent getting stuff done around here. I have not done one single thing to get ready for Christmas…not one single thing..and we have between 28 and 35 people coming on Christmas Eve day. Probably should at least get a tree up. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Yesterday, my oncologist said I can start seeing a provider every 6 weeks instead of every 3 weeks because I’m handling the maintenance injections well. I’ll still have injections every 3 weeks, but I don’t have to see a doctor before the injections every single time. So that was positive news! It will cut down on the length of time spent there every 3 weeks now too. In and out quicker.

Well, better get busy. Today I’m starting my Christmas baking, getting some decorations out, printing off my address list and starting to write out Christmas cards. Tonight is Survivor, so that’ll be popcorn time! 🍿

    Have a great day!

    Just For Today, 12-11-2024
    • Make 24 hr plan & assess yesterday’s :blush:Done
    • Drink 64+ oz water. Drink at least two fills of aqua stainless steel bottle and two 8 oz cups of hot tea.
    • 30 minutes intentional activity. Close Activity Rings on watch. Goal = 6,000 steps.
    • Leave 2 bites from one meal. Stop at “enough”
    • Start Christmas stuff. Stop procrastinating! Just start...
    • Show our home some love...laundry, dust, desk
    • Run errands: A's bday card, ATM, grocery store
    • Journal every bite and close Food Diary at end of the day. Calcium 1260 mg
    • 5 Things Declutter
    • Self care 30 minutes. Foot massager x2 with Calm app in earbuds. Journal. Marcos. Podcast - at least 1 No BS Weightloss.
    • Evening Routine

This week, I will work on:
    • Christmas Baking List
    • Christmas decorating, start…
    • Christmas gift list
    • Start writing Christmas cards

    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.

      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July / Aug / Sept / Oct /
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run

I just located you again, so I decided to try posting one more time.

    So far today
Breakfast (protein power drink, banana, raspberries, blueberries and a cup of coffee), 289 cals
AM snack (2 Wasa crackers, margarine and 2 noon dippers), 153 cals
lunch (cheese sandwich with vegemite), 233 cals
Dinner (will be chicken leg and vegs, grapes for desert), 414 cals approximately, depending on actual weight of meat after I eat.
That's total of 1079 cals, so I still have almost 200 cals for snacks.
I will just have to see how I manage. My actual goal is 1,200 - 1,400 per day, but I try to stay at the low end. I find that having a range quiets the guilty pangs if I go over. Also, I have walked in the house for 15 mins twice today, (total number of steps 3,200 +). I may try again later on today, before my shower.
    That's it for me today.
Good luck to all of you,
    Kayne

Thank you for all the well wishes for Ash's mum ! I appreciate that!

@mytime6630 Sorry to hear your daughter. I must say, whilst I was sat in the hospital with my broken hand, I was so relieved it wasn't my foot! Can imagine that's alot harder to deal with!

Feel like everyone's getting injured at the minute 😂

As for the last week, I have actually been logging! Hadn't mentioned it earlier because I wanted to see if I could stick to it.
ALL YEAR I've felt I've not been in the right headspace. Couldn't focus on my goals etc. but that hand break has done me wonders..makes you appreciate what you can do and to look after yourself.
So I found my motivation again!

Ive also done myself up a spreadsheet so I can balance my deficit over a week. This seems to be helping me.
My first 3 days were well over on food and part of my spreadsheet is calories I need to claim back. That hit 600! That I'd over eaten by in the first 3 days.
But just 2 days later, I only need to get around 140 back now.
As long as it balances at the end of the week it should be good :)

I'm also not counting my exercise calories. If 90% of the work is diet, then this time the exercise I do is irrelevant to my calorie goals and I just see it as separate. It's a totally different goal in my eyes.

    Reduce calories to lose fat.

Exercise for heart health and muscle growth.

    Anyway
    It's going good so far!
And also did my first progress vid, only like a 5 second thing to show what I look like now and then will continue in my journey

      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe

Been a little down lately. Not sure why. Tim is also very distant. Usually only one of us is in a funk at a time, and we can pull the other up. I think both our parents are weighing on our minds. His mom is declining and has bouts of paranoia and delusions. My mom's mental capacity is just less and less. I'm getting closer to having to move her into an assisted living facility. I'm trying to hold off because she can only afford about 3 years. After that, I'm not sure what we do and she is only 72. I'm working on Medicaid, but not having a ton of luck.

Otherwise, life is good. Work is a tad boring. Long days and few people around. Yesterday and today I work 8:00am to 7:00pm, yawn... Mid day today, I have to leave and take mom to doc. Coming back is always the worst.

The puppy is now 6 months, 60 pound and a bit wild. He has conquered the baby gate we installed. He can push the button, slide the mechanism and pull it. Damn he's a smart pup. Another positive is now that he is officially 6 months we can begin his professional training.

Christmas shopping is done except for a white elephant gift, and new bones for the dogs (Elliott found the first ones I bought and opened them).

    JFT Friday
    - Work by 8:00
    - Work a bit
    - Home at lunch for pups, unless Tim goes
    - Left over pizza for lunch
    - Leave work at 1:15
    - Mom to doc
    - Back to work
    - Meetings
    - Home
    - Vacuum, Sweep & Swiffer
    - Maybe wrap some gifts.

Good morning! Happy Friday! Busy day doing Christmas stuff and attending grandkids’ sports. I’m so far behind. Energy is lagging and the below zero temps do NOT help. Still trying to figure out why I live in a northern state! 🥶

@kaynelvb welcome back! Good luck with your goals today!

@Bex953172 Good for you! You sound like you’re getting things moving in the right direction. How’s your hand feeling now?

@pridesabtch I’m sorry you’re going through so much with your mother and MIL. Tough situation, for sure. I have kind of an on and off history with my mother, and now that she’s widowed and we moved her back to our state and about a mile away from us, I have some of the worries you do, but not to your extent yet. Unsettling to say the least, especially since nothing I ever do is right…😬 I hope you both start to feel better soon!

    Have a great day everyone!

I forgot to finish Wednesday's meals. I know I went over the top of my goal by about 60 calories, but aside from an ice cream, I stayed away from the sweet stuff.

Yesterday was a bad day for us. My husband was having some major panic attacks, and it drove me up the wall. It usually does. So, although my calorie intake was good, below 1,200 (only just, though, 1,185) I only managed to walk for 15 minutes one time, in the afternoon. Not bad, but I had really hoped to continue with 2 - 15 minute walks per day, at least.

So far today, I have consumed about 625 calories, but I still have to eat dinner, and of course, some snacks, but not sugary ones. I am hoping to stay with yogurt, 50 calories sugar free, And sugar free jello, 10 calories. Maybe a couple of Wasa crackers with some margarine on them, 83 calories. But it is looking good for me. Plus, I did walk 2 x for 15 minutes each, for over 3,000 steps. So, I think today will be a success for me, also!

Let's all of us keep on working at it!
