Vicki - love your tree! :D It looks like something out of a magazine.
Please keep an eye on that rash. If you start developing itchy blisters it could be bullous pemphigoid, which my friend G had. The treatment is steroids. Please ask your doctor to refer you to a specialist. She had to push like crazy.

Max had a cold last evening and was off school. I asked him not to come too near us. He did sneeze once, but he was probably 12 feet away. Then it turns out that John has a cold anyway. ;) I know you can't avoid them this time of year, but I want to be fit for my RSV jab on Monday.
We are babysitting for a few hours tomorrow night, so I can't see us escaping.
Annoying, because I'm feeling so much better at the moment. I'm cautiously optimistic about my knee. I'm doing all the exercises. o:) Often in the middle of the night! Walking yesterday was uncomfortable, but I made the distance. Still can't walk upstairs with both legs, but I feel it's not far away.
That will be a day of rejoicing! :p

I've just made soup for this evening's early meal before French Circle. We have to leave the house in an Uber at just after 6 pm. John takes forever to eat! I have made a beautiful roasted tomato and red pepper soup, which we will have with a toasted wholegrain sesame bagel. Not bad for early morning cooking. The house smells wonderful! We will have an apple and cheese when we get home, soon after 8 pm.
The talk tonight (in French) is Monet in London. I really don't feel like going, (hate going out in the evening) but it's the last one before the end of January, and the subject interests me. My French is getting rusty, because I'm doing so much Spanish at the moment, so it will be good to have a refresh.

Edie is coming over again on Sunday, to finish her painting for her parents' present. Bea has a playdate.

    Waitrose delivery after lunch.
The fence man should be coming to estimate.

I've ordered a big sequinned bow as a tree topper, when John puts the tree up. It's silver on one side and gold on the other. Bows are in this year. Apparently. :-)

My French cups and saucers should be arriving any day now. I've had a message to say they are in the post.
Edie will enjoy drinking hot chocolate out of them with me!

Allie - how are you feeling at this lower weight? Do you notice things you can do more easily now? It must have made a huge difference!

The fence guys came just before lunch. They are very impressive. They said they could probably save the panels etc and just put in concrete posts to support the wooden ones. Cheaper. They will hook it up to the house as well. Unfortunately, they are mega busy after the storm, so it could be a while.
Next door haven't been there for a while, so they couldn't get over to prop it up. John spoke to our neighbour on the other side, and she said that the woman's mother had died. They were intermittent carers for the mother for many years, only coming back to the house here for respite. They had exhausted themselves and spent a fortune on keeping her out of a home. She was in a wheelchair and pretty out of it. So I guess for them it's mixed feelings.
The potential bad news for us, is that they may decide to sell their very outdated house. If they do, it will almost certainly be gutted by new owners, which will be a year of crashing and banging for us. :#:#:#
Even if they stay, they may do work on it. :'(
The neighbour on the other side has said she will ring them to say we need access.

Waitrose came nice and promptly, so I've had a good nap. Now to have a cup of tea and put my face on.

Rebecca - I have never had white teeth, they have always been a yellow tinge. So is most of my family on Dad’s side.

Pip - that’s a good idea, do you have a sofa to sit on if needed?

Michele - our Grands have Christmas on different dates quite often, a lot of families with shift workers have to do that.
My dad was an electrician, breakers in restaurants and businesses are a much bigger deal than household breakers. I remember when he was sick a breaker went at a local nursing home. He said it would probably be a 2 week fix because the breaker needed to be ordered in, cost 10’s of thousand of dollars and everything needed to be inspected not just that one breaker before they could reopen, it ended up being closer to 3 weeks.

Vicki - I hope you get some medical answers soon.

Rebecca - I’m not surprised it cost her that much for baking. Everything has gotten so expensive, Lauryn usually makes flannel pj pants for her family, she bought them this year because it was cheaper than the material. It’s a shame, she enjoyed doing it.

Debbie - it all sounds delicious, I used to make some jellies for my grandfather. We’re fortunate here if we find a pound of butter for less than 6.00. Eggs are also really expensive now.

I spent the evening making another card.
2 more to go, I missed someone on my list so had to add one. 🙄

The fact that we went to Costco for chocolate chips seemed overkill. I lugged three huge bags about the store! I have never seen chocolate chips in such huge bags, each was on sale for $13. My sister has so much in her kitchen it overwhelms me.

    Those cards are so beautiful!

Books in my town and now in the park, we have mini-libraries. It is take a book, leave a book. We have a nice library here but these little ones are all over town. Since we put the one in the park, that is where I put my books and I keep it neat, looking at what’s available in the process. Someone put a bunch of DVD movies in it and they are all gone, including a few my DH took. It’s a nice option for tourists or campers to use without getting a library card. Many times, people leave books with me to get rid of or simply leave books on their picnic table. This is a great option for here. There is one of these mini-libraries by the Chamber of Commerce for example.

Went for bloodwork yesterday morning then breakfast, and groceries. Home by lunch but got busy with people. I now think I have a UTI. I go to doctor next Tuesday for bloodwork review and will try to make it to then so I don’t have to pay for another doctor visit., I am really sick of all these doctors!

Well done Lisa. Selling is the hardest part. They look great.

It turned out that the speaker this evening was the actual senior curator at the Courtauld, who organised the current sellout exhibition of Monet in London. :o She was excellent and I understood every word. She had a lot of slides, which helps.
So glad we dragged ourselves out of the house.

    Good morning from Padre Island!

I lost track here and couldn’t find my last post, so I hope I don’t repeat.

Everyone sounds SO ready for Christmas! Since I got this new manager job I’ve been dog paddling through the days, just keeping my head above water and everything else has gone by the wayside. I’m basically on call 24/7/365 but took the job to accomplish a financial goal we’ve set ourselves.

That said, I have a steadily growing pile of packages from Black Friday through Cyber Monday for gifts. I absolutely refuse to go out in the world shopping and even use the shopping service for groceries (!)

I also laid in a stash of gift bags and goodies to make bags for my 25 employees (thank you Amazon) and hope to put them all together to hand out next week.

I’m working on “improving and streamlining” one meal a day. I chose lunch. I made a pot of Cuban style black beans and bring 1cup plus an apple to work each day. Up until now, I have never eaten before dinner or taken breaks so the struggle is to let go of work and sit and eat for fifteen minutes. As it is, this week I ate at my computer while
working, but it’s a start to a new habit. Next I’m making Cajun Red Beans to try.

Cards will be my replies to my pen pals across the globe. I’m part of a fountain pen group and have been corresponding in that manner for ten years now. Just hoping I find the time—so many of my favorite pastimes are stalled with this new job.

Thank you for the welcomes, I’ll try to keep up better this week!

Hello there from Whidbey Island. Your island is definitely more longer and skinnier than my island! Whidbey is 37 miles long and 10 miles wide. Yours is 100+ miles long and 1 mile wide, really interesting!
I also write to about 15 pen pals all over. I like the pace of a letter. If you wish to add another pen pal it would be interesting to write to you. Just send me a Message on here.
I try to eat one meal a day, but its usually 2. We are retired so there's that!

Oh remember a couple months back when I was worrying over my eldest son that had his household goods shipped to Iwakuni Japan, with no place to put anything because the place was furnished? He had been out on deployment, putting extension after extension on his load, so he wouldn't get overage fees tacked on. He got back and was able to get a storage unit! Yay! One less thing to worry about!

Love the Ho Ho Ho, Tracey That would have pride of place on my mantlepiece! :D

Well, I had an interesting treasure hunt in my freezer. :o I was looking to see if I had a half tin of chickpeas frozen in there for my Lamb Tagine. It only takes half a tin, so I freeze the other half. The big middle drawer, where I suspected it was, was soooooo heavy to get out (John has a dodgy back) but I heaved it onto the counter and excavated. Soooo maany frozen peas! Five pots of homemade pesto, and one shop bought, a bag of cooked lamb from a roast, (!), lots of mini chorizo, more butter than I thought, and various sundry veggies and bits and pieces. I rearranged it and took the pesto to other freezers, during which I discovered I'd left yesterday's fish out in the utility room. Fortunately the utility room is as cold as a fridge, so I salvaged the fish!
I will set about using some of this stuff, and, yes, I did find the chickpeas! :p
I hope my back recovers! Also broke a fingernail. :|

I will cook most of the tagine at lunchtime, minus the sweet potato, which only needs 5 minutes in the IP. We need to eat it in the gap between my Zoom and my son collecting us to babysit.

Still waiting for my coffee cups.
