@PackerFanInGB Yes hand is much better.
I use it as I normally would now, little finger doesn't always wanna do what I want though. It no longer flexes upwards. That will take time and work!

I went swimming the other day and my little finger just had zero strength LOL so I'm gonna take an extra bobble next time and just strap it to my 4th finger so feels more stable lol.

Happy Saturday! 10 more days until we have 30 family members come for Christmas celebration. Oh my! I’d best get my *kitten* in gear! Hope everyone is well! At least it’s above 0° today in Wisconsin…

    • Make 24 hr plan & assess yesterday’s :blush:Done
    • Drink 64+ oz water. Drink at least two fills of aqua stainless steel bottle and two 8 oz cups of hot tea. 😊

    • Leave 2 bites from one meal. Stop at “enough” 😊
    • Start Christmas stuff. Stop procrastinating! Just start.... Start by finding cards, print address list, start bringing up boxes. Get a tree, or should we use artificial this year? Look up tree farms’ prices. Pack up stuff to make room for Christmas globes, etc. 😊 Got tree and put it up. Decorate it Saturday. Found Christmas cards.
    • Show our home some love...laundry, dust, desk. 🥸 ummmmm….SATURDAY?
    • Start Christmas baking. Maybe start with breads? Russian tea cakes? 🥸 ummmmm….SATURDAY?
    • Journal every bite and close Food Diary at end of the day. Calcium 1260 mg 😊
    • H’s wrestling match and/or M’s basketball game? 🥸 Just didn’t feel great so stayed in.
    • 5 Things Declutter 🥸
    • Self care 30 minutes. Foot massager x2 with Calm app in earbuds. Journal. Marcos. Podcast - at least 1 No BS Weightloss. Read. 😊
    • Evening Routine. 😊

I need to get better focused on my health.. weight just keeps creeping up, but its because of emotional eating. So I need to be more focused on that.
Daughter is here.. her surgery went well, but worse than we expected. She has 2 plates in, and 10 screws, basically fusing the bones together. She also has torn ligaments. So she cannot put any weight on her leg for minimum of 6 weeks.
We bought her a walker.. which she cant use yet, and also a wheelchair and commode. But she really hasnt gotten out of bed since surgery. Shes in a lot of pain.. and thank God for the pain pills, which also help her sleep. But she cries a lot. Anyone that already has depression.. this just put it over the top. She tries to hide her crying from me.. but I can see the tears down her face. And what do I do.. go grab something to eat. Does that help.. absolutely not. So I need to be more aware of what I mindlessly shove in my mouth.. so I don't have to feel the depression and sadness I also feel. Our son is also having surgery on Dec 23rd.. and I am so worried about his procedure. They are doing tongue reduction to help him with breathing problems and sleep. That surgery sounds very painful also. But... there is nothing I can do.. other than take care of myself.
    So today, saturday
    1. log all my food. Be aware of what I eat.
    2. work on scrap xmas quilt.. mindless work to keep my mind busy
    3. do laundry
    4. plan meals for the week.. planning will help me to stay better focused
    5. concentrate on protein, low carbs, low sugar
    6. mail quilt to friend
    7. go to store-- pick up sliced deli meats, chuck roast for crockpot tomorrow.

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    67 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
      * moussaka America's Test Kitchen tv show ~ very tasty, nice size portions & filling, though complicated with four distinct layers & many prep steps ~ nice to have an alternate eggplant recipe
      * peach cobbler (BH&G) used qt fresh peaches grown in Ripon
      * ratatouille (loveandlemons.com) very good vegetarian dish, uses lots of late summer/early fall veggies
      * potato leek soup (AllRecipes.com) ~ very good alternate leek soup recipe, easy to make... chopping up so many potatoes was the worst part LOL
      * roasted daikon radishes (internet) ~ too long in oven, but seemed to have good flavor, will try again
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]

Finally starting to feel a little more Christmas-y. Hubby made a list of 17 folks/families for our annual cookie/fudge distribution. Did some baking over the weekend. There are Chocolate Chip Cookies, reduced sugar CC Cookies, My Grandma's Russian Tea Balls, Great Grandma's Sugar cookies (dough is in the fridge), Mamaw's Peanut Butter Blossoms, reduced sugar PB cookies, Big ole batch of Peanut Butter Fudge/Candy, Aunt Shirley's orange cookies and cutting of the sugar cookies are on the agenda for tonight. We will also need to make more Russian Tea Balls, as the double recipe only yielded 4 dozen. With 17 sets that's only 3 a piece. I like to put a minimum of 6 per container of each type.

V is home for the holidays, and Sierra is due in on Sunday. Really need to clean the house a bit.

On the weight front, I've not been weighing, but my clothes are fitting a tad better these days.

    JFT Monday
    - Work by 8:00 :( 8:15
    - 90 Proficiency review for new engineer
    - Work on Title V air testing for permits
    - Lunch
    - More meetings
    - Sugar Cookies
    - Other cookies once Tim gets home from gym/grocery
    - Torture family with Christmas movies.
    - Shower
    - Bed

@clicketykeys (((Hugs))) to you. Hang in there!

@pridesabtch Sounds like you and Tim are feeling a bit better, so glad. Wow, that's a lot of cookies! Brings back memories of my Grandma S making dozens and dozens of cookies for Christmas. She would pack 5 gallon ice cream pails full for each family, at least two buckets each (5 families). Sometimes I helped decorate, always fun.

Oh Joan, I’m so sorry. Depression is hard enough to deal with but adding pain and stress of a surgery on top of it, that’s a lot to handle. Your poor daughter has had such a rough go of it. And that’s really hard on a mama who just wants to take all the hurt away. It’s a helpless feeling, for sure. But you’re right. Emotional eating feels good in the moment but doesn’t help anything in the long run. We can’t be here to help our loved ones if we don’t take care of ourselves. I’m praying for you and your family and I’m sending you hugs and love from Wisconsin, friend. I hope she starts feeling better really soon! 💞❤️‍🩹🫂🙏

Good morning! Happy Monday! Got some baking and decorating done this weekend, so I’m feeling better about that. Today will be more baking, decorating the tree (finally) and running the grandkids to and from practices today. Our Christmas tree has been in the stand in the living room since Friday, but it was frozen so we have been waiting for the branches to fall before putting lights and decorations on it.

I gained 0.6 lbs this week. I usually have a feeling ahead of time if the number will be up or not but this time I didn’t expect it. That tells me I’m overeating and not making good choices in what I eat. So, this week I will focus on getting my water in, leveling up my food choices (less sugar, less processed foods) and eating for hunger instead of entertainment. I have plenty to do to keep myself entertained…I don’t need to eat mindlessly.

Hugs & prayers who need them, and love to all! 💞🥰

    Just For Today, Monday 12/16/24
    • Make 24 hr plan & assess yesterday’s :blush:Done
    • Drink 64+ oz water. Drink at least two fills of aqua stainless steel bottle and two 8 oz cups of hot tea.
    • 30 minutes intentional activity. Close Activity Rings on watch. Goal = 6,000 steps. Get outside and “touch a tree”! Grounding in nature is so good for you. It’s in the 40°s…enjoy it.
    • Leave 2 bites from one meal. Stop at “enough”
    • DECORATE CHRISTMAS TREE TODAY!
    • Write out at least 10 Christmas cards.
    • Show our home some love..., desk, back room.
    • Christmas baking. Today is: Lemon poppyseed bread, sugar cookies, Russian tea cakes
    • Journal every bite and close Food Diary at end of the day. Calcium 1200 mg, Vit D3 1000
    • Errands: Sav-Half for cards M/H/T, C, S/E, K/K/M, A/A), also for T and B/S, mom, dad & Pam. Bank for cash. Post Office for stamps.
    • Drop off T, pick up H, pick up T tonight from practices.
    • 5 Things Declutter
    • Self care 30 minutes. Foot massager x2 with Calm app in earbuds. Journal. Marcos. Podcast - at least 1 No BS Weightloss. Read.
    • Evening Routine

This week, I will work on:
    • Christmas Baking
    • Christmas tree
    • Christmas cards for littles
    • Start writing Christmas cards

@TerriRichardson112 Nice to see you! Good job on your Weightloss. I agree with @cschmitz110515…you really are an inspiration!

@pridesabtch that’s a LOT of baking! I’m baking for 30 people who will be here on Christmas Eve and that feels like a lot to me.

@clicketykeys I hope you can take a breath over the holidays. You always have so much on your plate. 🫂

Eugh I've had one hell of a weekend.
Has anyone else noticed that any time I make a post that I'm "back on track" literally something knocks me off course again. I can almost guarantee that by day 4 something's gone wrong.

And 8 times out of 10 it's my period 😂 but THIS time my period was 2 weeks late!! And still it F*©ks me!

    Anyway.
My spreadsheet didn't add up somewhere. Still haven't figured out which maths bit I did wrong but rather than stressing about it I've just decided to leave last week behind me and start this week's column on my sheet. I had a couple of days of no logging but the difference was I ALLOWED myself to have it. Why fight my hormones? Let 'em rage and I'll sort myself when I'm able to! Ash said out of all the girls/ex's he's known, I've had the worst periods. Or rather, I don't handle them very well 😂 I find them so emotionally debilitating
So now I'm ready to start again.

I figured if I'm in this for the long haul this time, then what's 2 days at the very beginning going to change in the grand scheme of things!

But .. you are right! Don't let a couple of days throw things off.. in the long run, we are all going to have days when we just can't stay on track. Remember the 80/20 rule... 80% on track, 20% off track! You are doing great!!

Got out for a nice walk last nite.. and this morning got to the gym.
Today was a much better day. Daughters pain is better.. she seems in better spirits, even though she thinks by January she will be out running again, and able to go back to work (she only works maybe 4-6 hrs a week anyhow, but working and running are her life).
But... tonite she picked up some needlework and wanted to learn.. first time she has shown any interest in anything. So.. there is hope.
And you know.. sometimes when things seem the gloomiest, I think things are meant for reasons. She has been super depressed the past 4 months.. doctor has been messing with her meds. I think her being out here, even though the circumstances with a broken ankle are not good.. she is here during the holidays. I can sleep at nite because I know she is here.. I see if she is crying.. I see how she is doing. And as a mom, that is comforting.
So, tomorrow, I will again, attempt to make healthy choices, to keep myself as healthy as I can. My family needs me to be strong.
    JFT, Tues, 12/17
    1. go to gym
    2. concentrate on healthy foods.. no junk
    3. concentrate on water
    4. go for a walk
    5. stay calm and positive

I went to the grocery which was CRAZY. Didn't get the sugar cookies done, but made orange cookies and another batch of pecan balls.

Need to get the sugar cookies tonight so we can deliver soon. Sugar cookies are my least favorite to make. They take forever. When the kids helped it was fun, but solo it's just tedious.

Recap 12/16 M ~ rainy dreary day, no walk
    1) Not sure of meals today ~ mostly leftovers / limit sweets & snacks ~ last cookie from cookie walk (wow, I made those last LOL), few pretzels & pumpkin seeds / log all food / 80 oz water ~ 64 / net calories zero ~ around 500 in the red but felt like I needed that, plus daily w-i still on track
    2) Min. 5000 steps :p just!
    3) Dog to vet 11:00 & maybe last stitches can finally come out? YAY <3 / mail SW gift / choir rehearsal 6:30 / read / digital declutter / other? paid property tax online, balanced bank accts, updated budget s/s, lots of other declutter as well in family room & happy me  TA-DA!

    JFT 12/17 T
    1) Figure out supper / limit sweets & snacks / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz water
    2) Walk if time? Min. 5000 steps
    3) Help at funeral luncheon 10-1 / change bedding / call Mom / read / digital declutter / other?

Yesterday was 4 weeks since dog's toe amputation, and she got the last of her stitches taken out. Yay! She keeps the cone for 3 days to keep her from licking or otherwise messing with her toes. Back to going up the stairs to our bedroom & can jump on furniture, just not jump off (hubby is watchful to help her down). Vet says to ease her into walking for several weeks, after that we can resume our regular walks. Yippee! Then I'll hope the winter weather will cooperate, but that's for later. I'll share a photo soon.

    About me:

March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]
May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]
    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x2, 3x1 {a lot of very hot/humid days}
    August: 5 days x1wk, 4x2, 1x1 {hot/humid & scheduling conflicts}
    September: 5 days x1wk {including Annual Bridge Walk ~ double-crosser on The Mighty Mac}, 4x1, 3x2 {prep & colonoscopy so limited exercise}
    October: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin Women's 5K}, 5x1; 3x2 {bday day trip & dog/cyst between toes, overnight trip to parents & day trip to SB w/ PZ}

      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day
      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July / Aug / Sept / Oct / Nov / Dec
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run

Good morning! Got some baking done yesterday and a few areas decluttered. Boy, when we put these decorations away, I really need to do a thorough declutter of this whole house! It's ridiculous the amount of stuff I've saved and shoved in a drawer or closet "just in case". Today is more baking and husband is putting lights on the tree right now so I"m sure we will decorate the tree today also. Christmas cards need to go in the mail today too. Why am I such a procrastinator???? OMG!

@mytime6630 I'm glad your daughter is with you and how awesome is it that she showed interest in needlepoint?! When I am depressed, I have no interest in anything except eating and watching tv...and barking at people who annoy me (which is pretty much everyone if I'm crabby). I think God is looking out for her and bringing you peace, although it's unfortunate it's with an injury.

@Bex953172 Hugs my friend. I tend to go backwards everytime I think I'm getting somewhere also. It's frustrating. You're doing great. It's just a few days out of a lifetime of lifestyle changes. You've got this! You never give up and that's what matters. Healthy habits are so important.

@pridesabtch I feel the same way about sugar cookies (cut-outs)! Loved them with the kiddos...hate making them myself.

Hugs & prayers who need them, and love to all! 💞🥰
