Hi,
I am a 23 year old female. I currently weigh 118lbs and am 5' 4.5 or 164 cm. I want to look more lean and strong but I am not sure how to lose weight or if I should just try to gain muscle. I will attach some pictures of me now. I go to the gym a few times a week but don't eat super healthy. Help!

I think you may want to reassess your goals. You don't really have any fat to lose. I would look at strength training. But you're not really going to get "leaner" because you're already quite lean. But nobody else can tell you what to with your body, so do as you wish.1

Hi, I think you look super lean. If you wish you a go for strength training build more muscle. You look sexy and fit and hope to continue the same. You can be motivation factor for many.0

She could get leaner if she wants to look like a fitness competitor, six pack and all. But I don't recommend it. Those competitors never stay at that degree of leanness year-round, and she shouldn't try. She risks messing with your hormones, skin, hair falling out. She has a terrific year-round level of leanness and as I said in your other thread, for any improvement improve, focus on adding muscle. Please don't lose any more weight!2 -

Your not skinny fat, so that's an advantage for sure. I think diet and training regiment could get you there fairly easy. Maybe ask the same question in "Fitness and Exercise".
EDIT: I see you already did that, lol. yeah, good for you.0 -

Really? My biggest complaint is that I would describe myself as skinny fat haha. Thx

Happy Monday!
Looking at your pictures, you're already in a place where your weight is ideal.
So really your next level would be to start adding muscle.
As far as a skinny fat comment, I wouldn't say that in your case. It just looks like you have a pretty solid metabolism and/or you move around a lot to be able to mitigate eating "poorly" (whatever that means to you)
If you'd like, set your diary to friends only and I can take a look at it to see if there is something in that that could help ya out!0 -

By poorly I mean not having a consistent eating schedule, lacking fiber and veggies, too much added sugar. But it could be worse haha0 -

Haha, thank you so much!! :-D0 -
I’ll try not to reiterate what others are saying but strength training and eating cleaner with a focus on protein might get the look you're aiming for. I’d keep the calories the same, just adjust the macros. What’s funny is that I’m the same height and weight but different body comp. Interesting how genetics play into how you build muscle and where you store fat. Good luck on your health journey!0

For sure, so much of someone's build is from genetics. I feel like I store fat disproportionately in my midsection and legs and not much in my arms haha0
