    It’s not working. 😕. I found Challenges and did follow but can’t seem to follow her or her challenge. Sorry. Just not very tech savvy.

    Thank you. I want to improve my health and feel better. I want to live my life enjoying it instead of wondering if I can go somewhere and fit in a seat or if I can walk that far. I want to feel confident again and not wonder what people might be thinking about me. In the past, when I told family about trying to lose weight, it doesn’t go well. So this time I will not say anything but instead be turning to this community for accountability, encouragement and support, from people who understand. Thank you for allowing me to be part of the group. I look forward to being successful and celebrating everyone else’s successes as well. 🙂

    Smart move Linda. Keep your weight loss goals to yourself. Family means well, but sometimes they can be insensitive and judgmental, which can ruin your motivation.

    You will be losing weight now. When they notice your weight loss, just say “thank you” and nothing more. Don’t tell them how you did it, even if they ask. Watch ‘em squirm. 😉

    Thank you for the advice. I agree. I do plan on keeping it to myself. Thank you for the encouragement. I have done well the last two days and am looking forward to being successful. It’s one day at a time and sometimes one hour at a time. I look forward to becoming the best version of me. 🙂

    This is what 5 pounds of fat looks like:

    Been lurking a few days.
    When I started I never dreamed I could lose 100 pounds. But I'm now 90+ pounds down with just a few to go. I've lost the push(energy, burning desire, impetus, don't know what to call it) to lose the last little bit.
    That picture sure has my attention! I've still got that much fat sitting on my waist!?! I need to lose that!

    Can we make a deal? If one of you loses it by Jan 1, I'll lose 5 lbs by Jan 31.
    I think I can, I think I can!

    I am very impressed that you have lost 90+ pounds. That is such an inspiration to me - knowing it can be done. Not sure what would rekindle your motivation but maybe promising to buy yourself something you want when you reach that last bit? Just a thought. Since you've done so well so far, I totally believe you can lose another 5 pounds. You've got this! One day at a time. One hour at a time.

    90 lbs gone. Good job! I'm jealous. Sure, we can make a deal. Linda, and Lisa-Lisa will lose 5 by Jan 1. They're on fire. 🔥

    Making out a grocery list for tomorrow. Just put carrots, celery, apples (some of my favorite low calorie snacks) on my list to get a little head start. What I lose in Dec counts, too, right?

    Plain old calorie counting. Close diligence on balanced macros for each meal and snack.

    I have been using MyFitnessPal for a week. I have lost 4.2 lbs. I know most of that is probably mostly water weight but I will take it. My goal for each day is 1,500 calories. This is a big change for me as I used to eat whatever I wanted without even thinking about it. I would like to cut back to 1,200 calories but am just trying to get used to 1,500 for now. My biggest challenges are making sure I plan meals and snacks in advance. I was also used to getting fast food a lot. Now I am making a point to make food at home. I am look up foods at various fast foods to see which are the best choices, just in case. I thinking planning overall will be my best tool.

    I also purchased a journal to write how I'm feeling and how I'm eating to help me know where my struggles are so I can try to correct them.

    Me too, Corina. Plain old calorie counting. I don’t know what macros are, so I don’t count those. I don’t drink milk and try to avoid animal products. I snack on Skinny pop. 😋

    Macros-- I tend to eat one thing. Like right now, I have a big package of sweet broccoli in the fridge. Years ago I would have eaten only raw broccoli all day long today. Then maybe ice cream only all day tomorrow because my body is demanding calories. I finally figured out it's better to have a more balanced diet every day-- for energy, for weight, for strength, for my soul as well as my body. But I still have to work at it.

    Got my annual check up blood test results today. All good.

    @Movingalong75
    1600 calories a day was easy for me. I planned the basics ahead and still had comfortable wiggle room.
    Now to lose 1/2 pound a week, I would need to eat under 1200. ZERO wiggle room. Even unsweetened tea has a few calories, and I drink it all day every day. I have to include those calories in my basic daily plan. I'm trying to exercise just a little more to burn a few calories--park farther away, etc.

    @LisaLisa1230
    Christmas is the perfect time to pick out $10,000 worth of imaginary gifts you will buy with your imaginary prize. Put the list in your Xmas decorations, pull them out next year and see which ones are still important, have a good laugh at some that aren't.

    @dodieneatfreakwannabe
    I gained weight originally because of lots of family problems. I lost my mom and sister 💔 close together.
    My dad had a really hard time dealing with it too, which added to my stress. But we eventually moved on.
    The weight you are today doesn't matter. The weight you are a week from today does. Your choice.

    I am doing okay on 1,500 calories a day but will try to lower it a bit each week until I get to 1,200 calories. I am also trying to cut my food into smaller pieces so it not only looks like more, but will take me longer to eat so I have more of a chance of feeling full. (I used to eat my food very quickly and never gave my body a chance to even feel full.) Yes, little things (like drinking tea throughout the day) can make a difference. Being more aware and looking things up in MyFitnessPal before I eat or drink something is very helpful to know if I can eat it or should skip it.

    With Christmas in a few days, any suggestions to get through it without going off track? Advice? Tips?

    With Christmas in a few days, any suggestions to get through it without going off track? Advice? Tips?

    Plan A: On my fitness Pal, list your menu everyday throughout the holidays, until Jan 1. Decide what you're going to eat on those days and stick to it.

    Plans B: Indulge throughout the Holiday week. Enjoy yourself. Eat exactly what you want. Then, get back on track.

    I'm choosing plan B. 🥧 🍷 🤓

    And I'm choosing plan C.

    Eating sensibly for my goal "diet" calories. Indulging a few holiday treats, going over "deficit" calories but staying under "tdee" calories. No gain, no loss. A few days to celebrate.

    I've been doing that for years, but it's going to be just a little harder/easier this year. Harder because at this stage, I'm only cutting about 250 calories a day. That's not much for treats. On the other hand, I've been doing it for years, so I should handle it like a pro.

    I purposely set a Dr. Appointment for January 2 as extra incentive to get right back on track the day after Christmas.

    We will see.

    Thanks for the advice and suggestions from both of you.

    only went off track a little on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day I went a lot over (Mother in law served spaghetti and lasagna instead of turkey.

    I decided it will be okay since I am back on track today. I guess it’s more about the big picture, right?
