Good morning all - just getting us started....
BBL

Good Morning!
No panic attack last night....and I didn't wake up once to use the bathroom. That is a good night's sleep for me.
Doggie is all clipped and clean....ready for Christmas. Now all that's left is gift wrapping, which is intense since I have a huge pile of gifts for the grandkids (didn't have to pay a penny for them, though....the ex foot the bill). Even the trash and recycling was put out. How efficient of me. 😁
Got a text from the SIL....needs desserts and veggies for Christmas dinner. So that is where the banana cake is going ...its in the freezer for now. And I will make mashed potatoes.
The maintenance guys were emptying out the apartment below me yesterday. The previous tenants left almost everything behind. Some nice furniture. I didn't envy those guys having to carry everything out of there, though. I figure the apartment won't be ready to rent until after the New Year, which is just fine with me.
I saw a pair of sneakers in DSW when I was out with my daughter about a week ago that I loved, but didn't get them because....well....cost. I decided yesterday to go back (since DSW is next to the groomers) and get them. They feel great and will be perfect for walking.
Weight is holding steady....that's not a bad thing at this time of year.
Till next time....

Good evening,
Sandy I hope your day got better. Panic attacks are exhausting.
Have ordered the goods to make a pot roast Saturday with the idea that enough can be frozen so that I can have some Christmas day.
Someone found a cat pouch like the one I am making online and it was $25. Gives me an idea about bartering or selling at church for charity.
The last 2 days I have gone to bed later than usual - computer stuff. As of now it is at least mostly fixed. No more neighbor in my apt that is final.
Tomorrow is Friday and it has been a long week.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

Good morning all~
Sandy - I'm glad that you got your sneakers. It's a purchase for your health!!
Sara - Yum! Pot roast sounds wonderful. You've got me thinking.....I should dust off that recipe and make one too!
Waves to all who stop by later on 🌴

Happy FriYAY!
@Tilliesmommy1 , thanks! I think the panic attacks have subsided for the moment, thank goodness....I slept well! And I got a lot of meal milage out of my last pot roast...they are great! Glad you got your computer almost back to normal, too.
Lana, thanks! I am glad I went back and got them, too....my old sneakers are OLD and they needed replacing.
Off to the Dollar Tree today for holiday wrap and bags and to the UPS store to do an Amazon return.
TTFN...and have a great day!

Good Morning!
Just finishing up my last assignment for my current class then will be officially halfway through the program. It’s been a challenging term. I’ve received 2 B’s this term. First time of the program so I’m a bit frustrated. I just hope I get an A- or A for the course.
Sandy- I hear you on the panic attacks they are not fun. Glad you got your sneakers! A good pair of shoes is a make it or break it for getting in exercise and comfort.
Sara - mmm pot roast I may find a recipe to make one. A few of my friends are making pot roast for Christmas dinner. It’s the perfect season for it. And that post does give you an idea for pricing yours. Don’t want to be undersold.
Lana - good morning! I think I’m going to make one too.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Going to get this paper done so I can relax!
Missy3 -
Good Morning, Crew!
Thanks, Missy! And I hope you get your A's, too. I remember those days. 😁
I got all my shopping done. I got up and went out to the shopping plaza as they opened and finished up before the crowds and traffic poured in, which are huge triggers for me. Then stopped at Aldi and got the potatoes for Christmas dinner at my brother's. I got all but 3 gifts for the grandkids wrapped so will finish that up today. Then I can relax a little.
We got some snow! I hope it lasts so we have a white Christmas...we rarely have those anymore. But I forgot about the temps dropping and the snow froze on my car. Couldn't find my ice scraper so I got some off with a broom then started the car, got the heat going and melted some of it off that way.
Just had a big tossed salad for brunch. That will do me till dinner.
Hope your Saturday is a restful one!
Sandy

Hello everybody~
Missy - so glad to hear that you are half way through the program. You've been working hard. Enjoy the time off. When do your studies resume?
Sandy - very smart of you to get out there early ahead of the crowds.

Lana, you moved? Where?
Hi to all—I’m really working on adopting some lifestyle changes over the next few months. Being unable to exercise has made it clear I haven’t really altered my eating habits. I can eat lower cal for a while, but not stuff I want as part of the rest of my life. So there’s that.
I’m really thinking ahead to retirement in 4.5 years and putting in place things that will help over my remaining years. I’m 65 to anyone who doesn’t know. Anyway, flexibility and strength-training, as well as walking/hiking/jogging when both knees have been replaced.
And yeah, getting my home in order. I need to be ready if my daughter and her son (1 tomorrow) need to move in.
So, 1 piece at a time. Back to walking today after a 2 week break. That’s the easy part!

Good afternoon,
Before I start gabbing, I want to thank you all for helping me stay the same weight this year. It is also important to not GAIN weight and I have held my own. That is a victory I will take.
Sandy, Here in CA we dont get heavy frost, but I used a video rental card as my ice scraper (chosen because they irritated me). This was decades ago.
Frozen bread dough --okay its pizza dough on counter top. Not quite sure what it will become yet.
In case I get bear/hibernating - thinking of you all at Christmas and wishing you a healthy /happy time.
Missy - Yay! Halfway done is huge. Pat yourself on the back.
Lana - get out and enjoy the season - sing Christmas carols loudly around your neighborhood. I forget words so I make them up - I am old enough I can take the 5th and plead dementia!
Off to watch soccer and crochet.
Wishing all a good day. Stay safe and sane out there.3 -
Good morning all~~
Maureen - I finally got the furniture moved out of my NYC apartment and into the Chapel Hill house.
Good for you for getting things in order.
Sara - Good for you on maintaining! I know that that is a very wonderful thing.
Not sure about caroling in my neighborhood, but I have been playing the holiday music (jazz versions are my favorite) 🎄
💦 Time to jump into the shower to do my grocery shopping early.

Happy Day After Christmas Second Day of Chanukah!
The scale definitely reflected the last 2 days. Not concerned. The next couple days will be much less intense.
My back has been spasming the last few days....made things difficult. My ex gave me an extra $100 for my troubles....$300 in all. The money was ALMOST worth the pain, but I doubt I will be repeating next year.
Hope everyone had a great day and that it continues!

Good morning 🌧️
Today is the first of 3 days of gloomy weather. Boo hoo.... I must do everything I can to keep my mood up,.
Sandy - how is your back today?

Good Morning, Everybody!
Lana, thanks for asking. Its a little better. I stayed off my feet most of the day with the heating pad, which helped. Just occasional mild spasms now. Another day of rest and things should be almost back to normal.
The water company came around and flushed the hydrants. It not only made a mess, they had to cut tree branches to get their trucks to the line and guess where they threw them? Right in front of MY apartment, of course. Not to mention we had no water for half the day. I hope someone gets rid of those branches.
I know....I'm venting. I'm allowed....LOL!
Bought a Mega Millions ticket for tonight. And odds are that's the only time I will mention it. But ya never know. 😁
I am crocheting a double ended pot holder for my son for his birthday. He was using mine on Christmas Eve and said he would love to have one. His birthday is New Year's day.
Till tomorrow...

Oh, no, Sandy, back trouble? Boo! What happened? I use a muscle relaxant but haven’t had trouble since 2021. Dang, I just jinxed myself.
Lana, I have unpacked boxes from my move in 2021 and again in 2023. Shall we have an informal competition to see who unpacks soonest? I can use the motivation and I promise I won’t be overly competitive. I promise it’s not a hustle! Winner gets bragging rights for 24 hours.
Gloomy here in Charlotte, but the dogs and I had a lovely early morning stroll—see pic. That’s my daughter and grandson over Xmas; his 1st birthday was the 23rd. I didn’t get to see them though.
I’m trying to get my weight loss med fapproved by insurer. What an effing racket. It’s prescribed and they say doc didn’t send enough info but they don’t say what he needs to send other than BMI which he did on 11/21. Ugh.
Ok, gotta move on from that frustration. It will happen.

Good evening,
I have been crocheting cat pouches, but I also see another use for them - laptop cases.
Glad it is Friday. Very tired. Jaw hurts from sinus infection and muscles not happy with new crown put in.
Has been very windy and no trees down around me. Lucky.
Tomorrow is another bread roll day and a couple of errands. Purchased something that is supposed to seal my food and keep it fresher longer in freezer. Honey Garlic Chicken is the first experiment but will make that Sunday.
Off to watch dvd of "are you being served?".
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.0 -
Sara, do the cats crawl into the pouches? Or are they put in, like when someone needs to give kitty a pill? I’m sorry you’re uncomfortable and hope you feel better soon.
No walk yet today; maybe not at all. Feeling a bit tired. I might be falling asleep before I put on my CPAP mask.
Dreary here, so I’m thinking of walking inside—mall, maybe—if I get a nap and feel up to it later. Enjoying another mystery courtesy of my Dad’s Kindle library. Makes me miss him so much though.
TTFN.

Good morning everyone~
I'm feeling crappy today.
My mother died a whole ten years ago, but wow do I still miss her. So often I want to pick up the phone and call her.
Pretty photos Maureen.
Sandy, double potholders are the best!
Sara - I loved Are You Being Served.
Lana

Good Afternoon!
Lana, so sorry. I don't think you ever stop missing a loved one. I was feeling that way earlier. My late partner died 10 years ago on the 21st. I still get Facebook posts from his daughter every year.
@Tilliesmommy1 , Are You Being Served? was one of my favorites. Brit coms are the best!
Maureen , I have 2 degenerative discs in my back....one upper and one lower. Oddly enough, it's the upper one that is the one that causes me the most grief. I can't stand in one spot for more than a few minutes, which I had to do when cooking and baking. It takes awhile to pass, because the muscle gets sore from the spasms and have to heal. Oh....and that's a great pic of your daughter and grandson!
I can't remember if I mentioned it previously, but I post in a weekly challenge for weight loss. Considering the season, I didn't do too badly this holiday.
Hope you all have a relaxing Saturday!

Good Day, All!
Forgot to post yesterday....a bit depressed. Post Christmas blues? Perhaps. Things to do but little motivation to do them. MUST clean my little aquarium today....that will help. And change the water in the flower vase....I got some flowers for Christmas and I want them to last. And the cuttings from my umbrella plant are sprouting roots so I can give one to my daughter soon.
My son and his family headed back to Boston this morning. Something was different about this visit....there was little celebration. Mostly everyone staring into their phones or tablets. It made me a little sad. But that's not to say it was all sad. I told my son it will be easier traveling when the kids are much older and there is not so much to transport. The kids seemed to like their presents, too. Especially the weighted lap cat I got for my autistic step-grandaughter...she took it everywhere.
Haven't been eating very well, but it doesn't seem to be affecting my weight much.
Hope everybody is doing well!

Oh, Sandy - first of all I do hope that you mustered the gumption to make things all fresh and nice for your aquarium....
I can imagine the holiday blues.
I'll have to look up what is an umbrella plant~
Holidays are hard, but we can do hard things!
Maybe write a diary letter to yourself about what went well in your view and what did not and then consider how if at all you can do things differently FOR YOURSELF to make the holiday feel more rewarding. Then.....somehow put a reminder for yourself to review next September, in order to handle things in a way to make you feel good!
It could helpful to be expanding beyond your family---doing volunteering/donating to non-family.
I did a small amount of offering my car for rides to take people in my community with disabilities to get to the train station and airport for their holiday travels, and I've been on a little schedule to pick them up too.
It helps my sense of worth and my mood.

Lana, what a lovely way to volunteer. Good for you. I’m still working full time and haven’t volunteered in a while. You remind me I should get back to it. And hugs; I want to hear my mother’s voice too. And Dad’s. It’s only been 3.5 and 5 years, respectively, and I do wonder how it will feel in several or many more years.
I’m taking my sons to dinner for a little New Year's Eve celebration, and looking forward to it bc I so rarely eat out.
At the same time, I am a bit down to see another year of obesity has passed for me. I really wish to be slender and strong and healthy again. But as my mom would say, if wishes were horses . . .
Sis and I are talking about planning an overseas trip for the summer and that is giving me something to look forward to. Also, having my 2nd knee replaced and GETTING BACK TO RUNNING. My goodness, it makes me so frustrated not to be able to! It’s been such a constant in my life for so long.
I hope to be more positive tomorrow—for my own sake! TTFN.
Maureen1 -
G'afternoon everyone!
Maureen, an overseas trip....how exciting! I envy you! Enjoy your dinner out!
Lana, I was able to clean the aquarium....I feel very accomplished. 😁
The snails are happy, I am sure. I want to get a couple fish for the tank, soon. And I did remember to changed the flower water.
Got to CVS and picked up my CGM's....I have been. without one for 3 days so I have been estimating my insulin doses, which isn't easy. Also got to Aldi and got eggs....under $4 for a dozen so I can't complain. I was missing having eggs.
Another relatively mild day, but the cold is coming back.
Till tomorrow....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
