Merry Christmas Everyone!
Man, I miss you all. That cake looks delicious, Heather. Maybe one day, I will replace the kitchen aide mixer my daughter and ex-boyfriend stole before I use it and return it to baking.
Allie, watch out for Tracey. She just had Delia, and I know I would be in postpartum blues and worse for dealing with the abusive behavior that Kyle is presenting. Sometimes, I wish you had a huge house to keep your loved ones safe. Kyle is the Grinch who stole Christmas. It must be stressful for the children, too.
Lisa's reaction to Corey in his apron is priceless. I am so glad you had the doctor work on you and determine what was wrong. I hope next year is better.
Happy 69th birthday, Rita! Sending you hugs as well.
Annie, get all the help you can get. Trust me, caring for a loved one with dementia and all of the mood swings is exhausting. I hope you get help with your stomach issues.
Pip, could you talk to your niece and nephew about their insensitivity toward your fundraiser for MS?
Kylia, you sound ready for Christmas. Enjoy the parade and send pictures. Next year, we will send each other Christmas cards.
Debbie, your MIL is a mess. I appreciate it after hearing about yours. I hope you two have a wonderful Christmas from your brief but much-needed respite. Your DH should stay home with you and let the professionals work with MIL.
I am so bummed that I am running late to get everything done. That is the problem with Christmas Vacay. I will one day get Christmas done right. I hope it is before the grandkids start cranking out. My dog has had fun. She has been hanging out with DS, which allowed me to change sheets. I went to bed early, and now I am up early. I wrote to my doctors about my concerns. I told them that I needed bilateral orthotics because my hip was starting to hurt. My shoulder and the back of my neck are hurting, too. I started using the Lidocaine patches. I need some of the energy my patient, who is 12 months old, has. I put her to bed. Put your tube on, and she was having a great night playing. I turned the lights down and checked on her, and she was having a great time with her blanket and sat probe. At least she was happy. I fell in love with her. My DH was emotional on vacation. He got mad at my friend for requesting more bread. He yelled that we ruined his Disney trip cause we went shopping after the parade. My friend told him that if he didn't like that we shopped, he could stay home and let us have a "Girls' trip." He said I could not do anything without him until I moved to Chicago. She told him that he was controlling. He didn't like that statement. So, he will not be invited to travel with us to New York in December 2025. All he did was pout outside on the patio. He told me he was cold the entire time. We went swimming and went to the hot tub. DH stayed at the condo. My friend treated me to the best pedicure and manicure. We had the girl cracking up about our stories in the past. She said we need to do a Podcast. It was great seeing my friend; I miss her already. I am happy to see DH, but we need to see a therapist to get through
our temporary separation. I need a vacation from my vacation. I love seeing DS for someone so slim; he loves to eat. I am not used to stocking my fridge to the hilt. It is Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas,
everyone.
XO,
Mo in a house with two opinionated men in Mississippi
PS: I will post pics of vacay soon. Love you all!

Hey kids, hope it is/was a lovely Christmas Eve for everyone, and all the relatives cool their jets,
Looking at the weather all across the US, and for many of us, it will be a wet Christmas, as Lanette said. Our rain is supposed to be on and off again and then heavy rain again the day after. This system is stretching all the way over to Allie, Jennifer and Annie in New England, all the way down to Michele down in NC, and probably others in between whom I've forgotten their location.
Corey will be off, most likely by noon today, and then until Sunday. Hope he just takes the time and does nothing, but he may well get bored by the weekend and ready to do something.
Egg does not like the rain outside in the slightest, and will be a cling-on all day, most likely. That's OK, just laundry to do, and it can and will be done in fits and starts. I'm up too early, but naps on rainy days are the best ones of all.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR7 -
Christmas Eve
Bicycle ride
Testing the left hand. Could use more padding.
Damaged 2nd CMC joint in my hand on December 2. That's approximately where the base of the thumb attaches to the hand and affects several hand bones that come together in the same general area.
Not good for things like braking.
Garden
Planted 2 more plants.
Laid down sand around my seaside daisies. They like sand.
Dug out more grass - starting to clear the area for my proteas.
Watched the Santa Claus.
Now watching Groundhog Day, which Australian TV insists on playing every Christmas for some weird reason.

Our Gravely truck ready for parade! Oldest grandaughter really wanted to be in it but got held up at work. She did watch at the road block. A friend will be sending me more pictures. Tractors, combines, firetruck, police cars, ATVs, golf carts, scooters, and utility trucks. Was a fun time gathering with friends as well. I did overindulge in eggnog-oops. Only had to drive little utility truck about 1/2 mile back home. In bed early!
Debbie, Annie, and Allie I feel like many of the women here are giving sound guidance for the situations you are in at this moment. The only things I can add are to remember that you must take care of yourselves and seek assistance as you can. Such trying times, so I am sending extra prayers and hugs.
Mo Glad you were able to have a good time with GF. Sorry DH was being a sourpuss. I reckon his expectations were different than yours. Years ago when we went to Disney for the grandkids first time, there were both our girls, their spouses, four grandchildren, my ex and his wife, and to add to the mix a single mom friend of DED and her son. 14 people~! I told my girls ahead of time that you can't corral 14 people for everything. I expected everyone to meet up for the fast pass rides and other than that and a couple other planned things, everyone was on their own. My expectations were stated. When DH and I got tired of them all trying to figure out what they were going to do next, we told them where we were going and just left. Our DYD was sooo mad at us for leaving the group. I reminded her that night what I had said. She finally got it and the rest of the trip was wonderful. We would split off in smaller groups, then fast pass, then switch up groups. I did say however that if I ever found myself wanting to go to Disney again, I am only going with a couple of friends! My DH and I also told friends that went on vacation with us the same thing. They are adults so go do what you want, we will meet at cabin in the evenings. She was a planner- think excel spread sheets on what, when, money, and tips. DH and I tend to decide what we want to do that morning. It is vacation! I imagine your DH just wanted to spend time with you. May he get that this Christmas!
What is it with laptops and phones and cats? Someone calls me and the kittens are all over the phone even though prior to that they wanted nothing to do with me. Oh yeah, I forgot they are toddlers! I open my laptop and it is the sign to come get in my lap or walk the keyboard! LOL!!!
Three hours of work today, wrap presents, massage this afternoon, then no plans that I know of until tomorrow morning. We are going to DYD at 9 am. Then DED in Kentucky around noon. Then home to quiet house. You should have seen DYD and grandkids faces when I said I wasn't doing the saran wrap ball this year! You would have thought I told them their pet had died. I did say I had something else in mind. My heart wasn't into trying to do the ball. It is time consuming which I am short on. I am putting all the goodies in a large burlap bag. The player has to reach in and pull out with oven glove their wins while the next player is trying to roll doubles to get their turn. Similar to saran wrap ball but less work! I will let you know how it goes. If it goes well we will do again. If not then back to saran wrap ball next year.
Many (((HUGS))) for all as this holiday season is so hard for so many.
Find the joy in each day!
Spend a moment to yourself enjoying the sights, smells, and sounds of this season!
Love,
Kylia in Ohio where we to are experiencing rain

Oh wow! Talk about knackered!
I did snap at John when I was getting all the food and presents assembled when my son arrived to pick up the kids. I think he understood I was just past it by that stage.
But we had a really super time. The kids really appreciated the effort we went to. The Christmas Quiz went down very well; the kids take it soooo seriously, when it's meant to be a bit of lighthearted fun, but they did enjoy it.
After that, it was the full chaos of the three course Pancake Orgy. Plus a bonus pancake each. I made 20 pancakes! It was all much appreciated.
Then we did some painting, mainly to finish Edie's one that she is giving to her parents, but she ended up hating it and left it behind. I made a Christmas card for next year that I will get printed. It's the second version of the same idea, and much better than my first effort. I will take a photo in better light.
So all good, but I was exhausted! Just had an hour's nap, and ready to rejoin John downstairs. I have to blanch the broccoli for dinner, which is salmon and peas and broccoli, cream cheese, tagliatelle. Yum. I can see a Bailey's in my future.
My son wants to meet up tomorrow at 10.15 on the beach. I want to wash my hair, but we should manage it. It's walkable for me, and my son will give me a lift to his house.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

To the ladies dealing with hard issues, I am thinking about you! Know your cared about by me! I just want to gather y'all in a big hug, and make you soup, or one of my boozy egg nog coffee drinks.
Yesterday afternoon I got a box from a childhood friend of mine that lives in Tennessee. In it was a container of homemade chocolate covered toffee, and another container of homemade rum balls.💖🤗. So sweet of her! I had just made a pan of Christmas crack but I like hers better. I was going to make some snowball cookies but I still have 4 store bought Christmas cookies left so that's fine. I did make some no sugar 2 ingredient mousse' that turned out lovely for husband.
2 cups of heavy cream
12 oz of Lilly's no sugar chocolate chips
(I had a mixture of milk and dark chocolate)
Put a metal bowl and beaters in the freezer for at least 15 minutes
Take 1/2 cup of cream and add to chocolate chips
Mix and microwave 2 minutes on 50% power
When its smooth set aside to cool.
Then whip the 1 and 1/2 cups of heavy cream 5 min peaks need to form
Add chocolate mixture and whip until combined.
(I filled a bag with the whole mixture and piped into containers with lids)
It makes 5 good sized portions.

If your dh will listen to you, encourage him to lean on the hospital social worker. Be honest with them about what it is like trying to care for her. After my mom fell, and couldn't move, the doctors were threatening to send her home; we went to the social worker and told him how it was and that she could not return home. He took care of everything, and found the place. We couldn't have managed it without him.
She is not going to get where she wants to be. And, even though it sounds mean, once she is safely in a facility, neither one of you have to go see her again, or at least maybe once a week for an hour. That's more than some people get, and they are basically good people, not abusive.

Hoping this turns out well for everyone.
It will be great when we get her settled in the rehab/care facility and he realizes that he really can stop going over at 10 and 4. He has done it so long, hard to stop.
He did sleep in past 9:30(his alarm has gone off at 8:30 at the very latest every day for almost 3 yrs)
We are going to go check on the dog, I will walk him. How long depends on how much it is raining.
She is finally getting transferred today. Supposed to be getting moved around now- he will wait at least a few hours to let them get her settled.
She was so pissed at him yesterday when he went to visit- Blaming him for her being there, won't admit that she is the one that demanded we take her to the hospital.
The nurses told him that the rehab/care facility is where she needs to go. The "home" the social worker wants to send her is a private place with no medical care, just 24/7 care. Not what she needs right now.
He hates being pressured. Just ready for a nice long break.
May be time to start planning a cruise. Last vacation was at the very beginning of Covid-

Fyi, next year I wish all of you to be on my Christmas card list, not just some! If you want to exchange addresses, please send me a private message. To those that have sent me cards this year, I appreciate you! 👍🏼🙏💖

Debbie,
It could take him a long time to wind down. He's been wound up for a very long time. Especially if she could still go back home after rehab, he may feel like he can't let his guard down too much.
Take care of yourself. This is could be a rough Christmas.

Debbie - glad MIL is going to rehab and not back home. Hopefully once your DH is able to get some sleep and think more clearly, he'll be able to let go of some of the the anxiety and "duty" burden that weighs him down. Beth and Flea shared a lot of wisdom and insight here. Good that MIL is in a rehab place close by. I'm not too sure about the social workers in your area, maybe they are approaching burn-out too.
Santa and the reindeer will need to wear raincoats tonight. We have at least a week of warmish rainy weather coming up.
Happy Christmas Eve!
Lanette
SW WA State where I'm up super early - still got 6 hours of sleep in.
you have pegged it exactly right- it is a "duty" and he really needs to figure out how to let it all go.
While we were driving over for me to walk her dog, he informed me that he won't be home when I get back tomorrow because he will be going to see his mom then spending time with her dog before getting some sleep over there then going to work.
He would rather spend time with the dog over there than with myself and our son. That just sits wrong with me- His choice.
He just asks that I stay here long enough to feed our cats and then be back in time for me to feed them tomorrow and he will take care of them in the morning.

thank you!!!! You really understand him. I really don't think she will or should go back home but if she does, he has agreed to hire help again. And this time, she will have to accept the help and let him have a little time to himself.

Merry Christmas Ladies-
I hope you all have a nice, peaceful Christmas.
I am thankful for every one of you.
Got dinner ready for dh and son/his girlfriend- salmon and rice are cooked- they can eat when and where they want
Got the veggies(potatoes, celery and onions ) all prepped and cooked to put in the oyster stew for dinner at mom's to go with salmon and salad for mom, younger sister and I. Prepping here helps because I like and know where everything is-favorite pans/utensils. And gives me a bit more time.
Need to bake a pie for tomorrow after we have dinner. Not sure what kind but it will be ok.
The rains have stopped so it will be a clear drive up to mom's. I will go before dark. Same thing coming home tomorrow afternoon
I will check in tomorrow night.1 -
