I’m looking forward to joining this challenge. I’m a 46-year-old woman in California, and while some of my weight has crept on gradually over the years, the bulk of it happened during Covid. My gym shut down, my routines crumbled, and somewhere between coping with a tough case of Covid and family stresses, I lost my footing and gained about 70 lbs. I had a long bout of illness and lingering health issues that are finally starting to clear.

This past year I’ve started to emerge, one small step at a time. I'd like to find my way back to a healthy weight and reclaim my physical strength.

Right now I'm focused on tiny decisions. This week, I swapped hot chocolate for a lower-sugar blend, ate an early dinner so I could skip movie popcorn 👀, and (this one took serious courage) threw the leftovers of my birthday cake into the garbage disposal.

I want to focus on the small changes I'm making so I have courage to make the bigger ones too.

I think these little choices matter. They're teaching me to trust myself again, and I want to rebuild that trust in my decision making and my physical well being. I’d love to start 2025 with the belief that weight loss doesn’t have to be an epic battle. Maybe instead it can be an adventure, full of curiosity and self discovery.

Happy to be here with you all!

    Happy Holidays!

    Dailey

Welcome, @kristawatkins52 & @eyesopennow and @WhySoProblematic! I'm so glad you've chosen to share this journey with us! This is a judgement free, supportive group open to everyone, and the only rule is to be kind - that's it! My weigh-ins will be on Wednesdays beginning January 1st, but you can choose any weigh-in date that works for you. (I tried doing a daily weigh-in challenge, but the fluctuations were making me CRAZY!🤪) The ideal objective is to lose at least 10 lbs. by Spring, 2025. Since we will have 11 weeks, this is a very realistic goal. Let's DO this! 😀

I typed up a welcome yesterday but must have been interrupted before I had a chance to save it. I'm also trying to get my BMI to 25 or below. Since I'm also 5'3, like @WhySoProblematic, I would like to achieve the top level of my healthy weight range by Spring. I will set another goal for the Summer to hopefully get down to about 132-134 by my 67th birthday in August. At my age, I don't think it would be healthy for me to try to achieve and maintain a lower weight than that, but I'm just going to focus on a 10-15 lbs. loss by the last day of Winter/first day of Spring!

Check THIS out! I read online that Women in their 50s and 60s should strive for a BMI of between 25 and 30! This is based on findings here: https://newhealthadvisor.org/weight-chart-for-women-over-50.html where it has a chart showing recommended weights at 5 feet, 3 inches, 125 to 158 from ages 50-59 and 134 to 169 for ages 60-69. It's trying to say I'm fine where I am right now, but I'm sure I'd feel a LOT better at 140; so I'm going by that as a top range figure.

For now, I'm just trying to get back to the bottom of my current weight "decade" (150) by New Year's Day, the kickoff date for our challenge. I think I can do it, even though I had a celebration dinner with some former coworkers last evening and gained ~3.5 lbs. overnight! (I didn't have any alcohol, but I sure did eat a LOT of food!)

Enjoy the festive days ahead! I wish you health, comfort and happy times with loved ones as we wind down the year!

    💖Carole

    Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄

Welcome, @gleah1! I really need to get back on track as well! All of this partying over the past couple of weeks is really not helping, but I'm planning to be extra careful in this week leading up to our challenge kickoff.

[Unfortunately, I had four slices of pizza at around 11pm; so the scale was not "kind" this morning, but I'll give it a few days and hopefully it will right itself by January 1st.] I doubt I will make my goat of 150 by the New Year, but if I get down to 155 by then, I'll be happy.

We will ring in the New Year with a fresh start. I'm really looking forward to this challenge and sharing the journey with all of you, right into the first day of Spring!

Enjoy the festive days ahead and special times with your loved ones!

    💖 Carole

Hello. I’d love to join this group. I am needing to get in shape and lose about 10 pounds by March 13 so I can have more stamina and health when I take a bucket list trip to London-Paris next Spring. I’m having a big milestone birthday in January. Feeling motivated.

I joined MyFitnessPal several years ago, I have tried weight watchers, etc, never to lose the weight. This last year I was given a tool to help me and I have lost 80lbs. I haven’t tracked food or activities in a while, so I am setting up some tools to try to keep getting healthier . I am using MyFitnessPal to track food and activities once again. I have been looking for a challenge that I could do with my busy schedule and this is the one! Checking in and being accountable each Wednesday will help me think mid week about my goals, meals etc to stay on track.

Looking forward to doing this challenge with the group! See you on the first!

    Hi everyone,

I hope you had a great day. My holiday weight gain looks like a little over 5 lbs. A total gain over the last couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get down to 155 or less by the challenge kickoff date. This morning the scale.said 157.6, but some of that might be temporary water weight gain due to high sodium meals. I ate pizza after 11pm last night (4 slices!) so that could be part of it too. Oh well. Back on Track!

    One week to go!

Welcome @garciakayc!🌹I'm having insomnia right now due to a second bout with COVID, but I wanted to let you know I read and appreciated your post.

I am steadily improving. I will check the board every day until the official start date. You can pick whatever start date works best for you and can choose whatever with in day you prefer.

Best wishes for the rest of the weekend!

Hi everyone! I am a 31-year-old from Maine, and I'd love to join in on this challenge!!

I have had what feels like a never ending health/weight loss journey! Long story short - in 2019, my colleagues and I joined a workout program at our work gym, and in that year I had lost 60+ pounds. I was in the best shape of my life. Then, when COVID hit, we all became work-from-home, so the gym wasn't an option anymore. But, I honestly became even healthier because I had stopped eating take out. I had lost over 80lbs in total. Once everything opened back up though, my diet went back to lots of eating out and gatherings.

My workouts stayed consistent via home-workouts until we brought a puppy home in May of this year - then THAT fell off to the wayside too! They just became so inconsistent. So I NEED to get back on track, for me!! Especially now that puppy is not a baby anymore  But unfortunately, my inconsistencies have put me back at about a 55lb gain (still 25lbs below my starting weight, thankfully).

I have started back up, focusing on high protein and low calories. I changed my goals to lose 1lb a week instead of 1.5 in order to help stay more consistent and feel less restricted. I have lost about 3lbs so far and would LOVE to join this challenge. I think its right in line with my goals! Feels so good to be focusing on me again!

Can't wait to be on this journey with you all!

Welcome to all of our new members! I'm so happy that all of you are joining us! Looking forward to our kickoff date. I'm planning to be extra careful this week so I can (hopefully) start 2025 a few pounds lighter. I have already taken off one pound of my regained holiday weight. I need to track faithfully and to consistently incorporate more daily activity, beginning right now!

    Have a great day!

I'd like to join. 2024 was my breast cancer year. I'm now done active treatment and my goal is to work on weight loss and symptom minimizing of my maintenance medication.

Chemo did not make me lose or gain weight. Weight gain is apparently common on my maintenance medication. I saw a dietitian who wants me to adjust my diet to primarily anti inflammatory eating and I should be getting 150 minutes of intentionally active minutes a week. My stamina needs rebuilding from this year. January I will be limited to walking due to post surgery restrictions.

I'm 47, 5'3, and hover 198-201 lbs. First weigh in will be next week.

I'll join. I started back on my journey and lost 25 pounds since May 1st. But, I lost my weekly coach right after Thanksgiving in the heart of eating season. Needles to say, it's been a struggle, and a few pounds crept back. I'm back in it to win it. I want to lose 10 more pounds by Spring Break, so your challenge is exactly what I need. I hope I can help others as well.

My ultimate goal is 118 by my 50th bday in August. I'm 5'2"

Carole, I will continue in this new challenge and finish Fresh sStart Wednesday. Thanks for organizing this motivational group. You are the best 👌. I believe you will hit your spring goal. I will do my best to hit mine. I will be in Mexico for thus challenge so I hoping the extra walking will benefit me. I will do my introduction on another post.

I'm Cori. I thought I had introduced myself, but I got my threads mixed. Please be patient with me. I'm definitely electronics challenged.
I only want to lose a few more pounds. I started 2024 with a goal of 10 more pounds = 24.99 bmi. Life happens. Now I'd like to lose a little more to be a solid size 10 pants.
I've lost weight. I know it's doable. Now I just have to do it!
    Let's go, Ladies & Gents!
