For the first time in months I weighed and logged my breakfast today. Also weighed myself! Not so good.
After 4 months my family moved back into their own house, and I'm now in complete control of my meals again. And no longer have any excuse for some comfort eating!

Realistically I'm not going to diet over the holidays, but I will be more aware of what I'm eating. I have very little holiday food in the house, and have made good use of the supermarkets cheap veg.

So today, I will be aware of what I eat and will make good choices.

@littleblackskirt Welcome back! Hope you overall enjoyed having family with you. As a person who lived on her own for 24 years before marrying, I loved having my home & schedule to myself, but also had lonely moments. It's a balancing act. Once the holidays are over is a good time to recommit to our health.

Recap 12/22 Sunday ~ deep freeze starting to lift, but no outside walks with neighborhood roads still snow-packed or icy spots... need to get back to treadmill, which I do not enjoy *sigh*
    1) Church 9:00
    2) Make cabbage/Ital. sausage/carrot dish for supper ~ yum / limit sweets & snacks ~ spumoni, string cheese, apple, peanuts... ack! / log all food / net calories zero ~ definitely red but daily w-i no worse / 80 oz. water ~ only 64 & my knees/legs were bothering me at night, a good reminder to drink the water :(
    3) Min. 5000 steps ~ > 6200  / other?
    4) Laundry / call Mom <3 / address final Christmas card / assemble stocking bags ~ no, but I prepped some of the stuff / read / digital declutter / maybe some decorating (not done earlier due to dog recovering in family room & my finger injury) ~ not much but some / rehearse Christmas Eve music / other? TA-DA!

JFT 12/23 M ~ Snowing again & I watched a man walking in the road past our house slip at least 2-3 times in that brief span. Yep, I need to start using the treadmill.
    1) Make white chicken chili for supper / limit sweets & snacks / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz. water
    2) Min. 5000 steps / other?
    3) Bake/frost stollen (eggs currently coming to room temp) / assemble stocking bags & pack for travel / some decorations? / rehearse Christmas Eve music / get out tote for overnight stay / sort through wrapping paper (donate to family?) / refill heated birdbath / wash dishes / read / digital declutter / Saints v Packers 7:15 / other?

Hey all! Hope everyone's set for Christmas.
    I'm nearly there.
Got my turkey out to defrost. That's like number one thing I did 😅

Still got a fair few presents to wrap but just about got the house tidy. Soon as I've had lunch (which is now) and done the kids lunch I'm gonna get started on wrapping up the last gifts!

Nothing like a bit of urgency to kickstart your butt! 😅

    ☃️🎁🎄MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎁☃️

Hope you all had a good one!
I completely stuffed my face 😂 pressed the "F it, it's Christmas" button 😂

We all had a good time, shared nice gifts AND all the kids were happy with what they got! Which is my biggest win, I always worry that they won't be happy with that they have got, which I know is just Mum-xiety!

    Anyway.
I think Im gonna watch the food as best I can for now but I think I'll just start proper on Xmas day.
I started off strong just before Christmas and i can do it again in the new year..start fresh!

Wish you all the best and a happy new year when it comes and hope to see alot of you in the new year!

Hello! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

I’m exhausted! Still recovering from all the preparation that goes into a few hours of celebration with the family all coming over. Crazy how hard we worked, but it was a very nice time with family. Tonight and tomorrow afternoon we are heading north for one of our grandson’s basketball tournament.

Feels good to hop on here and get back into a routine. Have a wonderful day everyone!

@more_freggies76 sounds like a fun trip! I’ll bet San Francisco is beautiful!

@littleblackskirt welcome back! It must be a mixture of lonely and awesome to have your home back! Nice to hear from you…I’ve been thinking about you.

@Bex953172 sounds like you had a very nice Christmas with the girls! Yay! 🎄🎁

    Just for today:
    • 24 H plan & assess
    • Stock refrigerator salad bar
    • 5 things declutter
    • Watch “2025 Declutter Challenge with Just Get It Done Quilts” video to prepare
    • Finish laundry
    • Put away stuff on desktop. Put desktop stuff back. Start taking down a few decorations, too cluttered…
    • 30 minutes intentional activity. 7,000 steps. Close activity rings.
    • Order contacts. Order glasses? Get PD for Rx.
    • 30 min in sewing room
    • 64 oz water
    • Calcium 1200 mg, Vit D3 2000
    • Show my home/family some love. 🥰
    • Pack brown bag for dinner so I don’t hit up the concession stand or fast food at BB tourney.
    • Bake banana bread for Joe’s trip home tomorrow.
    • Self-Care 30 minutes. Anything. Read, mani/pedi, journal, Calm app, reading chair, nap…

Start thinking of 2025 word of the year….heal, thrive, joy, peace, Serenity, wellness….

Recap 12/27 F ~ Temp around 40F and snow is melting. Roads are wet with melting & occasional rain. Very dreary day.
    1) Cook mushroom ravioli for supper / defrost chuck roast for tomorrow / prep veggies for pot roast / get out slow cooker / limit sweets & snacks ~ ACK! terrible with roasted peanuts & chocolate / log all food / net calories zero >:) not even close! / 80 oz. water ~ at least I drank my water :p
    2) Min. 5000 steps / other? :( such a lazy indoor day
    3) Find/write bday cards / write TY note / reply to J email <3 / read / digital declutter / other? took dog for ride & mailed cards & TY, replied to DJ re invite  TA-DA!

JFT 12/28 Sat. ~ another dreary damp day, temp around 40F & most snow now melted = sad me
    1) Already seared chuck roast & put in slow cooker along with all the veg for supper / cut out the snacks & sweets / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz. water
    2) Min. 5000 steps / other?
    3) Any task done is good...

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    67 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
      * moussaka America's Test Kitchen tv show ~ very tasty, nice size portions & filling, though complicated with four distinct layers & many prep steps ~ nice to have an alternate eggplant recipe
      * peach cobbler (BH&G) used qt fresh peaches grown in Ripon
      * ratatouille (loveandlemons.com) very good vegetarian dish, uses lots of late summer/early fall veggies
      * potato leek soup (AllRecipes.com) ~ very good alternate leek soup recipe, easy to make... chopping up so many potatoes was the worst part LOL
      * roasted daikon radishes (internet) ~ too long in oven, but seemed to have good flavor, will try again
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]
    February: 6 days x1wk, 5x1, 4x1, 2x1 [2 wks overnight trips to visit parents]
March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]
May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]
    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x2, 3x1 {a lot of very hot/humid days}
    August: 5 days x1wk, 4x2, 1x1 {hot/humid & scheduling conflicts}
    September: 5 days x1wk {including Annual Bridge Walk ~ double-crosser on The Mighty Mac}, 4x1, 3x2 {prep & colonoscopy so limited exercise}
    October: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin Women's 5K}, 5x1; 3x2 {bday day trip & dog/cyst between toes, overnight trip to parents & day trip to SB w/ PZ}
    November: 5 days x1wk, 4x2, 1x1 {finger laceration & Thanksgiving}
    December: 3 day x1wk, 2x1, 1x1 {weather, schedule}
    • Walk dog 3-4 miles, treadmill when necessary in winter, weights/my home version of circuit & other x-training
    • PT (physical therapy) exercises to strengthen arthritic knees & hip flexor
      Jan 4x; Feb 1x; Mar/Apr 0x; May 1x; June 4x; July 1x; Aug 1x; Sept 0x; Oct 0x; Nov {11/22 finger laceration} 1x; Dec 1x
      4) MapMyWalk app You Vs. the Year 1,024km challenge started on Jan. 1

      • Getting close to completion 9.30.24 only 200 km to go!

      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day

Good morning! I could’ve sworn I posted goals for yesterday. Good grief! At least I am getting a bit more reliable…. 😖😉

Yesterday, No BS Weightloss program had a 4-hour live event re: a Reset for Weightloss Success in 2025. I listened to it while I decluttered/organized my sewing room and the den in our basement. I like listening to the coaches, how they catches excuses vs reasons for not following through on plans or breaking unhealthy habits. Anyway, I got a ton of stuff done downstairs, although you wouldn’t know it by looking at it! Much more to do…. I am joining in on a Sewing Room Declutter Challenge that starts New Year’s Day hosted by Just Get It Done Quilts. It’s a series of videos on YouTube that breaks it down into doable chunks in 15-minute blocks of time. I have started it a few times in past years but never finished it. I’m determined to do it this year and I’m hoping the concepts carry over into other rooms in my house. I think I would feel less stressed in a less “busy” space. We’ll see….I’m pretty emotionally attached to a lot of my “clutter”… 😬 Ultimately, I’d like to be able to completely rearrange our basement so the den/sewing room areas would flow nicer. I’m looking for more zen…. One thing at a time! It’s a goal for 2025 though.

The sun is finally shining today in WI. What a difference that makes in my mood! It’s been damp, gray and gloomy for days now. Snow is all but gone, just a few patches in shady areas remain. I can see green grass out there. It’s unusual for January, but I love it. I like the changing seasons but not the freezing temps that go with it!

I’ve been eating horribly since Thanksgiving…I’m up about 5 lbs over the past few months. Time to buckle down. I have CT scans and labs coming up in January and the way I’ve been eating is not going to look good on my labs. So, time to get back up, brush off my knees and get busy.

Have a good day everyone! :flowerforyou:

January’s Healthy Habit Change: In January, I will sit less. While watching tv, I will get up and do something during commercials. I will give myself a star for each day I am successful.

    Just for today:
    • 24 H plan & assess. 😊
    • 64 oz water
    • 5 things declutter
    • Watch “2025 Declutter Challenge with Just Get It Done Quilts” video again to get into mindset
    • Fold & put away laundry. Floors.
    • Take down 5 Christmas decorations, too cluttered…
    • 30 minutes intentional activity. 7,000 steps. Close activity rings.
    • Weekly plan & assess. Weekly meal plan. Batch cook & freeze soup? Cook batch of taco seasoned lentils. Rice & beans recipe?
    • 30 min in sewing room
    • Make appt w/Karen for ins. Check on dental ins status. Order contacts. Order glasses? Get PD for Rx.
    • Calcium 1200 mg, Vit D3 2000
    • Post one item in T’s Etsy store
    • Marco to Campers. Marco to Eva. Call dad.
    • Journal. Readings.
    • Self-Care 30 minutes. Anything. Read, mani/pedi, journal, Calm app, reading chair, nap…

Start thinking of 2025 word of the year….heal, thrive, joy, peace, Serenity, wellness….

After MIA again... today I weighed myself. How can I be UP close to 6 pounds this week!! Yikes! ! Well.. I know why... its chex party mix, M&M candies, eating the cookies that a friend gave us, ham, lasagna, garlic bread.. etc etc. So why am I surprised that my weight is up.
I am at my highest. So Ive got to get this under control. I know how... now I just have to stick with it. And remind myself of the 80/20 rule.. I don't have to be perfect.
So, even though its not January 1st.. I am starting today to get back to logging my food intake. I already went to the gym... this is a habit I love. But this morning I ran into many new friends joining the gym.. and they ask me, "how long have you been coming?" Well.. a long time, but I sure don't look it.
So for 2025.. I want to look it. I want to look healthy.. not be carrying around 30 extra pounds!.

So I will be starting a new thread for 2025 again (ha.. I think this is going on 10 years we've been doing this thread !!). But.. it does help me to have such wonderful online friends.. someone to be accountable to, but more importantly, the friendship many of us have.. yet always so happy to see new people join!

So my goals for today are
    1. eat as healthy as I can. The junk food is gone. Watch macros.. lower carbs and lower sugars
    2. put away outside xmas lites. Today its 50 degrees... in a few days we get down to the 30s!
    3. help hubby... we totally reorganized his "man cave" listening room. It looks so nice! Today the aquarium stand gets delivered.. so it will be nice listening to music while watching and listening to the aquarium.

Our daughter is still with us.. she had 2 more weeks of no weight on her leg. I have to say I sleep easier knowing she is with us.. and it is going well.

So guys.. watch for a new thread on the 1st for 2025!!

@PackerFanInGB -- OH.. I have to join that challenge! MY sewing room is a mess... and I know I need to declutter it!!
I thought about joining the NOBS weight loss.. but going to try it on my own again. I know what to do... hoping 2025 I can actually lose the weight and get healthier! You are doing great!!I love your january challenge!

@littleblackskirt - welcome back! I'm sure its nice to have your house back, but probably little sad to. Our daughter has been with us now almost 3 weeks.. I know when she does go back to her apartment... the worry mom will return. But we are so happy to see you back!

@Bex953172 -- your christmas sounds wonderful! Little ones make the holidays so special!

YAY! I was hoping you would start a 2025 thread! I have been with you since the beginning and although I go MIA from time to time (depending on what’s going on in life), I always make my way back to my JFT friends…. ❤️🥰

I too am glad you are starting a new thread for 2025. I need a fresh start, these last to years I have seen steady weight gain as well as diminished health. Need to let the past be the past and get my tush in gear with diet and exercise. I may actually start with a renewed commitment to fitness. When I'm exercising, I naturally tend to eat better.

Here is to old friends and new successes in 2025.
