I wish I liked swimming, but I've never been into it. I like to 'swim' if I'm on vacation and someone is bringing me drinks lol.
@trooworld I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.
@theslightedgeforever I can chew meat but I will say the older I get the less I want to eat meat. I'm not sure why. I force myself to, but it's a challenge.
@fabgeekmom ya protein is the way to go. And I try to eat alot of veggies.
I had supe relaxing weekend, which I really needed. I had 2 beers Saturday night, but then I stopped tracking, although all I ate after was ice cream but I didn't weigh it. I need to start sticking with my plan even after 2 drinks.
Abd then yesterday I had sushi for lunch, with tempura, so I was on track with calories according to my estimate but my weight is up probably bc of the salt.
Sun is out today which is nice.0 -
Did someone say they were reading the Scythe books? I need a new book to read.0
-
@trooworld I’m glad that you are feeling better. It’s respectful to wear a mask. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t so everyone gets sick. I hope you enjoy your meals. @its_cleo I’m sure the salt caused the weight gain. Weigh in a few days and hopefully weight will be down. Hi, all. The weather is warmer here and hopefully extreme cold weather is gone. I went swimming today. Dinner is burgers and fries. No recipe tonight and the 2 men in my home appreciate a burger meal.0

@its_cleo That sounds like a good way to 'swim'! I'm glad you got to relax this weekend. Tracking can get loosy-goosy after drinking. I love sushi. Yes, the salt in it and the carbs can falsely inflate your weight. Enjoy the sun! I read the Scythe books and loved them. But I think @theslightedgeforever is the one mentioning they are reading them.
@fabgeekmom Thank you. Exactly! Thank you. I'm glad the weather is better for you. Is it warm enough to walk outside? Good job with the swim. My husband's favorite meal is a cheeseburger.
Hi all. I still feel like I am getting a cold/flu but the Zicam is fighting it off. I felt well enough to last all day at work yesterday. I took a nap in my car on my lunch. I ate some of the spicy carrot soup for dinner, it was good and the spice level went down a tiny bit overnight. Today, I have to go to the dentist to get a deep cleaning on all 4 quadrants. I anticipate a lot of discomfort. I may get nitrous oxide to deal with it.
Water yesterday: 70 oz

@trooworld good luck at the dentist. I hate going to the dentist. Also I hope you feel better from the cold/flu.
@fabgeekmom burgers are my favourite, too.
Ack only tracked partway through the day yesterday, but my weight is down a bit.0 -
@trooworld I don’t think anyone likes going to the dentist! I hope all was well. I’m glad you were able to work all day. Yes, the weather has improved so I was able to go for a walk. It was a little brisk but manageable. @its_cleo That’s good that your weight was down. Hi, all. Dinner was good last night and we have a burger for lunch today. I’m eating mine on my high fiber low carb bread. Plus I have some black bean soup I made yesterday. I bought some fat free Greek yogurt to put on top and increase the protein. Tonight I am cooking 2 small turkey breasts in a cooking bag. I’m also making collards in the instant pot plus I have boxed stuffing mix and jarred gravy for those who like it. The plan is to eat leftovers for dinner tomorrow and sandwiches the next few days.0

@its_cleo Thank you! I generally hate going to the dentist, too, but I really like the dental office so it makes it easier. Thanks! I do. Congrats on the loss!
@fabgeekmom True! Thank you. I'm glad I lasted all day as well. I'm glad you were able to go for a walk. That's a good idea to add the Greek yogurt to the soup. Yummy sounding dinner.
Hi all. I am feeling better from the cold/flu coming on, I will continue to take Zicam to fight it off. Yesterday's dental appointment was interesting: I decided to get the laughing gas (nitrous oxide) and so they gave it to me. I didn't feel like it was on/taking effect, so I told them that and they turned it up a bit. It wasn't long before I was high as a kite lol. I felt like I was very drunk. On the plus side, I didn't feel the dental work they were doing. So that was good. BUT...when they were done, they shut off the laughing gas and gave me plain oxygen for about 5 minutes. I still felt wonky after that so I paid and went and sat in my car for about 15-20 minutes. I felt nauseous until I made myself a cup of ginger tea when I was at home. It was awful. I think I just got too much of the laughing gas. The nausea is a common side effect of laughing gas. Today at work, we are going to go to lunch at a fish house for some team members' retirement party. I got permission from the dietician to eat something solid. This will be the first time I attempt to eat something solid since pre-surgery. I am going to get grilled salmon + sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes...this is what the dietician and I came up with as a good option. I won't be able to eat much of it but I can take the rest home and eat it for a couple of days.
Water yesterday: 43.2 oz

@trooworld I hope you enjoy your meal!
@fabgeekmom glad you got out for a walk. I try to go every day. Yesterday I saw a beaver munching on some branches. (I live on the shore of a big lake). See beavers quite a lot, and mink. The mink are cute.
Well after trying to track for one month, today was my last Jan weigh in. I am down about a pound. So that is ok, I wish it was more, but I feel like I'm slowly getting better habits.
I have a doc appt today, hoping to get the results of my MRI. Hopefully it's nothing and they just say physio and rest or something, but I did already try that.0 -
@trooworld I hope you enjoy your meal. @its_cleo I hope you get good news when you see your doctor. Good job on the weight loss. Hi, all. Dinner was good last night. Tonight we’ll warm up leftovers. I saved the broth from the turkey will skim off the fat and save it for soup or a recipe. Today is a swim day.0

@its_cleo Yaaay on a lower weight. Mine had been up a bit and now it's coming back down. I always have a delayed reaction to overeating. It won't hit the scale til 2-3 days later I find. My son and I are reading the Scythe books. We are on #3. We've both really enjoyed this series. You enjoy swimming like I enjoy swimming. I like to lay beside the pool or on a float and have a book and something to drink. How neat to see beavers and wildlife.
@fabgeekmom Agree on the mask issue. If someone is sick and needs to go out, please wear a mask so you don't infect the rest of us. I had to go to the dr today for routine visit and hubby told me to wear a mask just to protect myself. Lots of viruses seem to be going around. I forgot. Hm, never thought about putting some yogurt on top of black bean soup. I really don't like the taste.
@trooworld How exciting to eat solid food. My dad's favorite meal was a cheeseburger. My last dental cleaning hurt in a few places. I was gripping the chair. Dh said he could tell I was in pain because of all my tensing up.
I've been playing with ChatGPT regarding this journey. It gave me a good 4 week program for exercise plus a good treadmill program. It was like talking to a coach. I started out the conversation with "how do I become a gym rat". Then as it asked me personal questions and went back and forth it came up with a good plan. We started off with a reasonable expectation to lose 6% of my body fat in 6 months to one year with consistently following the plan. That will get me back into a healthy range.
Today I went to the gym and did 25 min treadmill and 21 min body weight exercises.0 -
@its_cleo Thank you! How cool to live on the shore of a lake and see wildlife. I sometimes see coyotes (I live on the edge of a canyon) but I mostly see people's cats roaming lol. Working on your habits is the most important thing but congrats on losing in Jan! I hope everything went well at the doc.
@fabgeekmom Thank you! Good idea to save the broth.
@theslightedgeforever Yes, I was very excited! That's my husband's favorite meal lol. Oh gosh, that's the worst when you feel the pain. I'm glad I didn't feel anything. They gave me 8 shots of novocaine plus the laughing gas. I played with ChatGPT for weight loss/health stuff and it was very helpful. I'm glad it gave you something helpful. Great job with the gym woot woot!
Hi all. Well, lunch went great except I accidentally drank from a straw for part of my water intake. I stopped immediately when I realized what I was doing. I ordered grilled salmon with as little oil or butter as possible, mashed potatoes, and steamed spinach. I ate all of the salmon (it was about a 4 oz piece) and a little of the potatoes and spinach. I took the leftovers home and had them for dinner. I had no ill effects from eating.
Water yesterday: 56.5 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
@fabgeekmom you always sound like you have good meals!
@theslightedgeforever yeah I went ahead and requested one of the Scythe books from the library. Will have it in a few days. That's interesting you tried ChatGPT for weight loss, fitness, etc. I really dont like the way they are forcing it, like embedded in everything. I've tried it a little bit but not much. --sounds like a great gym day, I'm jealous lol.
@trooworld that's great the meal went ok!
So the doc- bah. So I have glute tendonitis (honestly I feel like my whole body is riddled with tendonitis- they say exercise is good but I always exercised A LOT and I always get tendonitis).
And as expected I have some tears in the soft tissue of my right hip. The tears are mild, but they won't heal by themselves. It's called a labral tear. So I'm getting a referral to an orthopedic surgeon for a consult. WHo knows how long that will take.
So I'm trying to figure out what exercises I can do. Maybe I will use ChatGPT to see what to do about glute tendonitis. That at least should heal with time. I think it was caused by over exercising- I used to do about 500 stairs a week. Like up and down. And then I was biking around 40 km, and walking around 10 km in a week. I suspect all this also caused the tears possibly, just overdoing it over time.0 -
@trooworld That’s great that you were able to eat the salmon and you have leftovers for another meal. @its_cleo That’s too bad about the tear. I know what you mean about over exercising causing. I, too, learned the hard way when many years ago I had to have a shoulder replacement. Hi, all. It was a little colder today so I worked out on the bike. DS was off today and went to the grocery store with me. We are having America’s Test Kitchen slow cooker navy bean soup for dinner.0
-
@its_cleo Yes, I was very happy! I'm sorry about the tendonitis...I had tendonitis in my arm a while back and it was a pain. I'm glad you will get further help. Yes, give ChatGPT a try, it helped me. Good luck!
@fabgeekmom Yes, I am glad too! I hope the soup came out well.
@cbabie Are you okay? Haven't heard from you in a while.
Hi all. I am doing well. I lost 3.4 lbs this week, a total of 10 lbs in January. I'm pretty happy about that. I cannot see much of a change yet, I can see a little in my face. Last night, I made myself some shrimp sauteed in some spices and a little bit of olive oil + some sauteed spinach. It was really good. I'm glad to be off pureed foods.

@trooworld Yay to solid food and weight loss! Are you taking pictures of yourself? Hi, all. Today was a swim day and a trip to Sam’s Club. I bought flank steak to make ropa veija tomorrow. Since we’re having beef tomorrow we’re having pork with a Dijon mustard and maple syrup sauce.0
-
@trooworld yay for real food.
@fabgeekmom those meals sound great. I always run out of food ideas.
I had pizza yesterday, so definitely over cals but it was a long week so I splurged. I have a long weekend now, it will be a quiet weekend, but I will do some yoga and a bit of walking. I have Monday off which is nice.
I do jigsaw puzzles so I have one here to hopefully finish up this weekend.0 -
@fabgeekmom I haven't been but I know I should. I know the value of those pictures. Good job with the swim! I love ropa vieja. I hope you enjoy it.
@its_cleo Indeed! Pizza...yum! I am making a cottage cheese crust pizza tonight for dinner. It sounds weird but I'll give it a shot. It looks like real pizza. I am using turkey pepperoni and light cheese. Enjoy your long weekend!
Hi all. This morning, I am meeting a friend at water aerobics. She said she is going to ask the temp of the water and if it's too cold, she's not going in lol. If the water is too cold, we are going back to the place she's dogsitting at. It has a hot tub, so we'll go in the hot tub for a while. That's the only solid plan I have today. I will likely go for coffee with my husband and get some groceries at some point.
Water yesterday: 40 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
@its_cleo Pizza is always good! Enjoy the 3 day weekend. @trooworld The cottage cheese doesn’t too weird. I hope you enjoy it. I can understand not wanting to get in the pool if it’s too cold, especially if your entire body is not in the water. I hope you enjoy the pool or hot tub. Hi, all. It’s a bit cooler and windy today so I stayed inside and rode the bike. I chopped up the vegetables for the Ropa Vieja so all I have to do is assemble everything in the instant pot.0
