Morning everyone! Happy Friday! ☺️
Out with the guys tonight 🍻
First drinks of the year! Haven't drank since NYE.
We are in belt buckle #4 again but still muffin topping ever so slightly so could have done with this maybe two weeks later.
A blowout tonigjt will probably take 1/2 a week to get over too.
PS: @Laurz9191 amazing running!
PPS: ewe. You clearly got cooties9 -
Nice run @kgirlhart . I must be running in all the wrong places. I have never found money when running like you and @AlphaHowls . Anyone else find money or anything interesting when running?
@chris_in_cal I hope taking a couple of days off is all you need. It is amazing how fast time goes by.
@tarun_yadavA Enjoy tonight. You'll just have to mimic @SummerSkier (aka BetaHowls) and run 7 miles a day for a week or so to burn off those calories.5 -
01/02 2.85 miles
02/02 2.63 miles
03/02 2.62 miles
04/02 2.83 miles
05/02 2.62 miles
06/02 2.84 miles
07/02 2.63 miles
Total 19.02 / 60 miles
Nice run in the freezing sunlight again today.
@Laurz9191 - That is strange behaviour
I'm traveling to Galway tomorrow morning for the weekend. My sister & I are going to a yoga workshop type thing on Sunday morning. If I want to run tomorrow I will need to get up at 5am. We will see but hopefully, the weather is good at the moment so running in the dark wouldn't be that bad. @tarun_yadavA You might only be getting home by then!

Feb total 28.1/100 miles
YTD: 145 miles
2/1: 6.5 miles
2/2: 14 miles
2/4: 3.2 miles
2/7: 4.4 miles
Legs felt good this morning. I went to the neighborhood trail. This week is pretty warm and humid and I'm looking forward to a little cool off next week.
I went to Pilates. It was a hard class and I think my arms will be sore later.5 -
@tarun_yadavA I definitely have cooties
. Have fun on your night out.
@chris_in_cal Hope your leg feels better soon!
It looked pretty muddy out and I wanted to spare my second pair of new shoes a cleaning on their test run, so I opted for the treadmill. I wasn’t planning to run as far as I did but after warming up, my legs loosened up, and I felt so good I even did 10x 100 meter fartleks at the end. I, personally, was very happy with the run and with the shoes. I will, however, leave out what my Garmin had to say about my run, as it wasn’t very nice. I ran 11.11km.
74.9km for February.7 -
All treadmill for Feb:
01/02 - 7.02K / 4.36 miles
03/02 - 6.04K / 3.75 miles

07/02 - 10.70K / 6.65 miles
Total = 29.83K / 18.53 miles (Goal - 145K/ 90 miles)
@Laurz9191 Awesome run! & that's fairly odd behaviour from your buddy.....was he trying to block a gust of wind?4 -

Feb 5 – 5.10 miles
Feb 7 – 6.06 miles + 3.13 miles + 3.01 miles
Total – 35.59 miles
This morning I ran 6 miles, at lunch I ran 3 miles and got another 3 miles in after work. Training for Peyton’s Wild n Wacky 50k (I’m on a 2 person relay again this year). Tomorrow I'm going on a hike sponsored by a local state park. It's 10 miles, is marketed as "strenuous" and is off trail for a couple of those miles to a waterfall. With all the rain we've had this week, it should be flowing spectacularly.
That run-in with the other runner was too strange @Laurz9191. Boo Garmin!
Hope you are all better soon @John772016 and that your leg pain goes away quickly @chris_in_cal.
@kgirlhart running early in the morning really does pay off!
Have fun tonight @tarun_yadavA!
Hope you have fun in Galway @Mari33a! One of my favorite cities!
Good to see you back at it @daria0919. How is your training group doing?

Enjoy your weekend @Mari33a !
Great run and workout @martaindale ! I hope your arms aren't too sore.
Glad the new shoes felt good today @Laurz9191 . Sometimes Garmin can be so mean.
You're doing great @John772016 .
Great runs @Teresa502 ! Your race will be here before you know it. Enjoy your hike. I look forward to some cool pictures.

I got up early this morning so I could run before heading out for the day. I had planned to do a treadmill run, since it was supposed to storm last night. But, fortunately for us, one storm went north and the next south of us. The temp was 46F (7.8C). My hands were cold for about the first mile, then I was fine.
I had hoped to have a fairly fast run, but it just wasn't happening today. My legs didn't want to work and had a hard time breathing to begin with. Once I gave into the fact that I was going to be slow, it felt much better and I actually went faster. The split paces were 14:03, 13:43, and 11:15 min/mile. Overall avg pace was 13:34 min/mile. Avg HR was 124 with a max of 143 bpm.

Woke up at 4.30 so got up and got run done. The moon was really bright with the frosty weather we're getting. On bus now for 5 hour trip. I didn't want to drive myself as I'm coming back 2 moro again and any benefits for the yoga would be long long by 2 moro night.7 -
Morning all
Got in 5.5 at 10"25
Thanks everyone! I had a great time!
No @Mari33a no wee hours of the morning. Haha! Pretty civilized 5.30 - 9.30.
Had 6 pints of NeckOil. (That first NeckOil though... After so long (maybe 2M?)... Cos I was drinking crappy Costa Rican stuff.... Pure Whitney Houston "aaaaannndddd I-iiiiiiiii willllllll...." Going off in my mouth! Lol)
Did an experiment yesterday. Instead of eating out afterwards... I came home. I'm always struggling the next morning. So I thought I'll eat some junk (lighter junk I guess) when I got home.
Usually it'll be a Big Mac + Nuggies, or Doner Kebab and fries with all the chilli sauce and mayonnaise.... I'm struggling the next morning. Just heartburn and feeling heavy. Came home and had a veggie Dr Oetker freezer pizza. I mean a freezer pizza isn't particularly healthy - but at around 900 cals, it's probably a lot LOT less than what I woulda had.
And this morning I feel a lot better than some of my previous night outs!
Anyways...
@mari33a enjoy yoga in Galway10 -

COngratulations on finally thinking about the next morning... I still have times where I totally fail in this same regard so this is pot calling kettle for sure, but this means that in the future you can make a choice in your behavior (or behaviour?) which gives you a good result the next day.

Nice long walk @brnlow !
Glad you were able to get up early enough to get your run in @Mari33a . Maybe you can catch a nap on the bus. Enjoy the weekend!
Great run after a night out @tarun_yadavA . Sounds like you may be onto something with the food.

My first morning run on the TM - I'm so used to finding the time in the evenings after work but woke up early this Sat AM with nothing really on the agenda. Feels great to get moving early. Gonna have to try to do it more often but I really value my sleep during the week. Oh well, figure something out.

Still warm this morning but a teeny bit cooler than yesterday with a really lovely breeze, which made all the difference! I saw so many people out running this morning! I have been doing my long runs at the spring creek trail so haven't been out in my neighborhood on the weekend in a while. Maybe there has been an explosion in runners in my neighborhood or maybe these are the winter runners and it will go back to the same few people as it warms up. I guess time will tell.6 -
Ok update. It's day 5 today since I started getting sick. Have done absolutely 0 then. Have a viral chest infection then my left eye also somehow got infected. Finally saw a doc, got steroids and antibiotics and today is the first day I'm feeling human. Probably nothing for a few more days. Viruses have a habit of migrating to unintended places. Still coughing up a storm tho. Sigh my body tells me I need a break!9

Happy Sat everyone! today should hopefully be the last humid unseasonly warm morning for running for a few more weeks. Last year my avg per day running was about 4.3 miles, and I intended to increase that for this year. I managed 7.2 avg in Jan and to date in Feb 8.46!!!! YTD is 7.47
Ran another 10 miler around the neighborhood and my pace was a little slower but hopefully if we get better running teams next week I can get faster times. Like @martaindale mentioned the breeze was really nice - cool - and the cloud cover early helped keep me from dehydrating.
In the past I have always sort of been scared of the heavy mileage thinking that body parts would start falling off, but nothing ventured nothing gained right?
I also have been using a TDEE tracker as I would like to coast downward in weight but I also want to make sure I am fueling enough. Right now after almost 6 weeks which is what it takes to get an initial look it says I have a TDEE of 2425 which is funny because I was about 1850 when I started maintaining weight in 2017. I do not think that it is really that high but it encourages me to eat enough for workouts even though it does not per say do anything but use algorhythms of weight and cals in and your own body stats.
Here's a link to is if anyone is interested. You have to use a computer and download and then save as before you start using it. And the first few weeks it will probably give you higher TDEE #s than you expect as it learns your balance. But it does encourage you to not undereat while not pushing the "gotta go run 10 miles because I ate bla bla bla type of thing so I like it a lot.

1st Feb 5 km parkrun (6:47 min / km pace)
5th Feb 9.78 km steady state run (7:18/km pace)
8th Feb 8.25 km supersets (7:17/km pace)
February goal 60 km
23.03 km done, 36.97 to go
I decided I really don't like superset training from coach Amy, I ran as hard as I could but then really struggled to breathe and needed to walk a bit, only to have to do it all again so I ended up with an overall slow-ish pace
I am so behind posting my workouts I had a lot of messages to catch up, I read them all so all caught up now7 -
2/01: 1.81
2/03: 1.65
2/04: 2.44
2/07: 3.44
2/08: 2.00
11.34/30 miles for February thus far.5 -
@brnlow I'm like you. If I get my workout done early, I'm really happy, but sleeping in is usually my priority when I can.
Great run @martaindale . Sounds like you could start a neighborhood running club.
@WarmJellyfish Glad you are feeling a little better. Taking more time off is a good idea. I hope you get back to normal soon.
You are doing great @SummerSkier ! I thought your Jan mileage was amazing and look at you increasing that in Feb!
@John772016 Nice running. I hope you can get rid of that cold soon.
@Emilienewme Is that not liking it because it is so hard, or not liking it in that I think I'll change coaches? I've never tried that workout. It doesn't sound like any fun.
@daria0919 Glad to see that you are able to be consistent with walking.

I had to go to work today....mandatory CPR and first aid training. Why does sitting for 5 hours wear me out? I ran a couple of errands and, after I got home, just didn't have the time or energy for a run, so I did a short wun. It was really nice out though - 75F (23.9C) and a slight breeze.6 -
I had my half marathon this morning, which I went into with great trepidation. I’d woken yesterday with the first inkling of a cold - a rather sore throat and ended up going to bed really early last night cause I felt awful.
Fortunately, I woke feeling better, but not 100%. As you know, I’ve been injured with my back since September and then with my calf from October so I haven’t done a lot of running, certainly not my usual build up for a half marathon, so the aim of the day was simply to complete it. Ideally under 2.5 hours
This is my local half marathon, so while it has the joy of being only a couple of kilometres to the start line, it also makes for a very hilly event. So went in with the mindset to allow myself to walk the worst of the ups and just to listen to my body for the rest of it.
Start time was 7:30 and it was an overcast, if rather warm morning. I started slowly and felt good so kept going slowly. The day only got hotter and sunnier, and the hills got hillier, but I didn’t have to walk anywhere near as much as I expected and, better yet, my calf didn’t bother me at all nor did my back, which I’m delighted about.
At about the 16km mark I began to feel every single muscle of my legs, and the soles of my feet were starting to feel really hot. By then there was only a little uphill left - a rolling 4k followed by 2k very steep downhill to the finish. Running downhill was absolute agony on my exhausted quads, but I kept going and there was certainly an advantage to knowing the course well - I knew there was no surprises for me.
I ended up finishing in 1:21:54, which makes for an average pace of 6:34. I’m very happy about that but it’s a long way off my course PB of 1:53! Oh well, clearly some work to be done.
I sat around in the sun chatting for half an hour at the finish line and managed to get my legs sunburnt, even though it was only 10 o’clock in the morning, and then went home had a shower. My sore throat had returned with a vengeance by then and my body was aching in a way it hasn’t after a race for many years so I took a couple of paracetamol and went to bed for three hours!
I’m feeling good now so will do some rolling and stretching and see how I feel in the morning.8 -
Morning all
Got in 4.0M at 08'53.
Thought I'd test out speed for a full (shorter) run today.
Well done @ContraryMaryMary 🙌🏽
@SummerSkier @quilteryoyo Thanks ladies 😊😊
There was a little kitchen table chat prior to heading out with wife and 16yr old, "Dad, do you actually like McDonalds?" , "when was the last time you ate McDonalds sober?"
Fair points. Though I do like McDonalds. Though stone cold sober I find it hard to justify eating ~1500 calories on a Big Mac and Nuggets.
As for a Doner Kebab, with all the trimmings and loaded with fries - nope. Only when totally drunk!
So I do have a blueprint for damage limitation in the future.
Also. Got lucky, I guess... The bar I went to didn't do Buffalo wings. So was able to stay veggie! Lol.
Just picked at a few chips and jalapenos and guac8 -
February goal 60 km
1st Feb 5 km parkrun (6:47 min / km pace)
5th Feb 9.78 km steady state run (7:18/km pace)
8th Feb 8.25 km supersets (7:17/km pace)
9th Feb 4.52 km easy run (7:22/km pace) with another synchro mum. We actually ran a bit longer, we were so busy talking I forgot to start my watch until about 1km in, but it was nice running with a friend
27.55 km done, 32.45 to go
Walk to date: 28.12 km
@quilteryoyo I actually like coach Amy the best but superset training is new to me. It was asking me to warm up for 1.5mile, run very fast for 200m, then run fast for 600m, then run 1mile at goal race pace, recover a few minutes and repeat. I have asthma so this going very fast is hard for me but I guess the goal is to run faster so probably it's something I need to work on
