What day is today? I lose track these days.
Today was a work day. I know I was working throughout the weekend, but that was my long weekend off. I am busy enough for 2 people at work these days. So today was work, work, work, work, work. I finally logged off at about 9 pm when the site I was trying to access was having issues. I took it as a sign that I should log off.
Also did a few things around the house and made dinner.
Although, it did just dawn on me that it's almost midnight and yet I should do the grocery shopping!! I was meaning to do that earlier.
I did have a relaxing 20 minutes or so on the deck with my husband ... I coaxed him out into the sun and fresh air, then sat and chatted with him while we looked over our view.
I also went for a decent sort of walk.
My poor husband is a bit bored. He's not used to just sitting and feels he should be doing something.
I've made some discoveries recently.
I've been having a lot of right hip pain, so I decided to get a memory foam mattress topper. That helped somewhat.
But a few days later, I developed a very stiff neck. Initially, I thought it was because I had increased my walking and cycling. But then I noticed that my head was not comfortable in bed.
I've always liked a fairly high, firm pillow, but decided to try something lower. For some reason the memory foam mattress topper seemed to make my usual pillow too high.
The lower pillow did help, and the stiff neck improved somewhat, but last night I tried a smaller, even lower pillow and today, my stiff neck is almost gone!!
Meanwhile, as I sit in my chair in the living room, I have been propping a cushion behind my right hip thinking it might help the pain. But it didn't seem to make much difference. One evening recently, I shifted the cushion over behind my left hip, leaving a bit of a gap behind me for my right hip ... and my right hip pain improved!
Little things make quite a difference.

Mo the donations are collected throughout the year, I always used to get them all by riding day in September but I think the deadline is in November, to be safe I would say by October .
But to try to catch up to first place 🥇I’m not going to walk the kids with Kirby for the next two or three days, I’m just going to get on the bike.so I can finish exercising earlier. Coming home from a 5 mile walk THEN getting on the bike for a good distance makes for a long day.

Thought for today:
I don’t play soccer because I enjoy the sport.
I’m just doing it for kicks!

Been meaning to show you all what I found on the beach the other day. A pyramid made with balls of equal size and shape. An alien visit?

Vince wanted to leave Jess’ early today because he says that he needs to pack for FL. I have almost everything done. Hmmm….Maybe it would have helped if he had done things in advance and not just watched TV...do ya think? Well, it’s his problem if he isn’t packed. Really, I don’t have to pack any clothes...have everything down there. When we got home today he said “I have to clean the litterbox we used to go up there since we’ll take the large one down to FL”. I asked him “why don’t you just put that litter into the big litterbox so when you clean the big one you’ll also clean the smaller one?” “No, I need to scoop out the small one then I’ll put the litter in the big one”. Why do twice the work????? whatever….
Update: Vince rushed us home on Sun. saying that he had to pack. Then what happens when he gets home? He’s watching CSI. I don’t understand him. He doesn’t want to go to ceramics for long. Was only there 1-1/2 hr today. Come home and what’s he doing? Watching TV
Michele NC
Your dh reminds me so much of mine in both those areas- obsessed with cleaning the litter boxes, for mine, especially the one in the new catio where we put the two feral/stray cats. He not only does the litter box but wipes everything down and vacuums any litter that is on the floor. He does the same for all the litter boxes inside. The way he has it set up, the cats have pretty much taken over my bathroom- both bathrooms are small but they have over half of it with boxes and supplies for them..
He is the same way about tv. Tv is always on. He told me he had things to get done, I walked in and yep, there he is, in his recliner , watching tv with a few cats on his lap. Minutes later, he is asleep.
Never got my nap yesterday, drank a V8 Energy before going to zumba. It worked, got through the whole class BUT was very restless all night. Kept waking up. I did end up with over 16,000 steps/ 7.3 miles yesterday.
Only exercise today is walking MIL's dog. I will walk him a bit longer both times than I did yesterday.
Only 43 right now but it will be ok, better than 31.
Dinner last night was a bowl of oatmeal. Dh couldn't eat anything else yet and that was quick and filling after class.

John didn't feel too good this morning, but improved as the day progressed. He did walk to the school. I caught the usual two buses, and managed to visit four charity shops at the change over point. One had chalk paint and finishing wax, plus brushes. It's all far too expensive for the two bedside cupboards I'm thinking of redoing. Last time we just used emulsion. They could be thrown away, but might be worth a quick coat when it warms up.
Has anyone else used chalk paint? I've looked at a tutorial.
Bea wanted to play in the brand new playground in the park. It only opened at the weekend. Must have cost the council a fortune! There were long queues for the prime attraction, the zip wires. She eventually got two goes. She did a few other things, and then I got too cold to wait any longer, and John was turning white.
At their house they showed us their new passion; skipping. Bea was amazing doing crossovers, forwards and backwards.
The parents went off to the Parents Evening, to get excellent reports.
This morning I tracked G on my Flightracker app to Madeira. She is now safely ensconced in a lovely hotel, with a view of the sea from the rooftop bar. Warm and sunny! She has been a bit down recently, because her autoimmune disease seems to be coming back, so I hope this will revive her.
John is cooking our meal for Valentines Day. Moussaka, my favourite. My homemade lemon ice cream is for dessert, with ginger biscuits, and I said I would provide a starter. I found John's favourite in Waitrose, on the way to pick up Bea. Potted brown shrimps. One tiny pot each. I also bought cress. I have some crackers. So, a very British starter. And no work!
Tomorrow is French Circle. I am determined to go this time, so we will get an Uber. The lecture, in French, is about a lake in the Jura region of France. We stayed near there the first summer after we met.
This evening, I passed my 150 days streak on Duolingo Spanish! Edie and I conversed in Spanish for a bit. She is going with her school to Madrid in May, and they are going to attend a school there for one of the days. She is so looking forward to it. Her reading is better than her conversation, but her accent is excellent. (She and Bea go to a bilingual school, but it's mainly in English)
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx9 -

I got a whole frozen duck when I helped at the food program on Saturday.
My question is, has anyone cooked one? Any tips to make it tasty and not tough.
DH loves the Chinese roast duck so would like to make something tasty for him
There are so many recipes online but want a good one so I don't ruin it.

I’ve been reading along, but for some reason had trouble getting caught up and actually commenting.
Rodger’s mom got home from the hospital on Friday. We talked to her on Saturday. She said that she was feeling ok, that she had a “little spell” shortly after she got home and while watching tv Saturday morning her heart was racing. I asked her if she’s thinking too much and she laughed a nervous laugh and said that she probably is. I think that she may be having anxiety attacks. I’m sure she’s worried about a lot. I’m sorry I can’t just go kidnap her and take care of her. She deserves a break from all of the users in her life down there.
I’ve had a little niggling headache since last Wednesday I hope it goes away soon.
My plantar fasciitis is driving me insane. My right foot suffered with it last year and this year it’s my left. I’m sitting here with my Dr. Ho on my calves, ice on my heel and I’ve been doing stretches, wearing my night splint and the roller bar. I don’t think there is anything else I can do.
I had a two hour chat with my brother on Sunday. I don’t know why we don’t talk more often we surely enjoy our chats. Yesterday was his 54th birthday.
Machka - I’m stealing a couple of your “stay at home” images to post on my wall. I know so people that need to hear it.
I had to go with a flatter pillow with a mattress topper top. After a year or so I needed to get rid of the topper because it was causing more pain than it was helping hip pain.
I have a little pillow I put behind me in my lumbar area to aid my hip. One of my therapists told me it’s the most important thing to do for hip pain. That and not sitting for longer than 20 minutes or so at a time. Something I need to start doing at work is taking standing breaks.

Tracy - only thing I did when mine got so bad was go to the podiatrist and get a cortisone shot in the heel..it did help.2

Hey, kiddos,
Up stupid early this morning. When I woke, my brain started spinning out on the design I'm working on, on what it's going to take to buy the next door crack house so as to avoid having a continued set of quite sketchy neighbors move in, and on the possibility of traveling upstate in mid-March to go to a fiber arts convention in Eureka Springs - two-hour drive through gorgeous country to a little quaint country town in the mountains.
It might be a possibility, maybe; it just has to do with whether my gut's working well on the Saturday, and whether Corey would be willing to actually get out of bed at a reasonable hour (like 8 a.m.) and be my personal Uber... and I know he won't want me to drive two hours away without him, so he's kind of key, and then I circled right back to the bag that I'm working on and how to solve the strap issue and then my mind skittered on to my next video, which believe it or not is planned to be about how not to let worry wreck your life.
Just joshing, really, not worried about any of those, that's just a peek into my head when it has time to think about things. If you were wondering why I make things when I don't actually HAVE to make things for the money, now you know. Because my brain is exhausting when I don't keep it reasonably focused on something, and sometimes even when I do.
I've always been pretty sure I was neurodivergent, I don't need a doc to tell me, but I like my brain, don't want to fuzz it any further with medication. Ha! Another squirrel, as Allie said the other day. They're running all over at the moment.
And all of them serve as a distraction from the referral I received yesterday to go back to the surgeon who replaced my knee and try to get some kind of resolution from him. That actually IS a worry. I'll call them during business hours today and get an appointment.
Corey will be up soon and rustling around. Time to get that load of laundry in the dryer and get some work done on... well, whatever I want to! 😉 Or stuff I don't want to do, like floors. 😑😶 Whee!
Love y'all,

I've been working all day. What a surprise! It's 9:30 pm, and I shut down my work laptop about half an hour ago. I'm really hoping to have my evenings back soon. How am I supposed to unpack when I'm working half the evening?
I've also washed my bedding and dried it on the line outside. It was a good drying day today - hot and windy.
Unfortunately, that also means it was a good fire spreading day.
There are fires all over our island now, but especially in the west. 45,000 hectares have burned. That's 174 square miles.
I did get a walk in ... and weeded a little bit of the garden.

Machka - Sounds like you need the rain that we're getting here, hope the fires are nowhere near you...
6 -
@LisaInArkansas ... we definitely need rain. Except where we're watering (limited quantities), our yard is a dry, grasshopper-infested desert.
Mind you, Rhody is enjoying the grasshoppers!
We had heaps of rain in December ... way over the average. But since about Christmas, we haven't had much of anything. They are saying we are supposed to have a decent rain on the weekend, but if it is like the other predictions in the past couple months, it will be cloudy and extremely humid, and will mist for about an hour.
I'm in the Hobart area (capital city of Tasmania) ... the worst fires are on the west side of the island so they're not affecting us directly but we are getting a bit of smoke.
There are some fires closer to us but they aren't big. However, tomorrow is supposed to be another hot and windy day, so we'll see.

Good morning ladies!
It's a balmy 16F here right now.The woodstove is blazing and I'm getting rid of some old worm infested firewood.
It was nearly that cold yesterday and it didn't seem to phase the hens at all. Thankfully once the sun rises over the trees they get plenty of sunshine in their area that warms things up quickly.
Rita - did you ever find out which aliens put together those little pyramids? Are the little balls solid rock or formed concrete, could you tell? I'm still amazed at the pyramids in Egypt and wondering who engineered them and amazed at the effort it must have taken to transport and place all of those huge stones.
Tracey - so sorry your feet and back are being troublesome. I don't know if it's the cold weather that tightens everything up or the fact that we can't be active outside and do a lot of things to keep us toned better. Maybe a bit of both?
Heather - sounds like a wonderful Valentine's Day coming up for you. Glad you and John were able to spend time with the grands. That new playground will be a lot of fun for everyone in the area.
Debbie - have your mom's hens starting laying more? Seems like all of my chicken lady friends around here are suddenly seeing an uptick in eggs. With Thelma now laying and Fairy due to start soon as judging by her behavior, I soon won't have to buy eggs. I paid $9 a dozen at Safeway last weekend for "mobile pasture raised."
Even cage-free are expensive. I think I read a while back that only "cage free" eggs can be sold in WA State. I could be wrong. At least those girls aren't all cooped up and can mill around with each other. My girls are probably getting a total of an hour free ranging these days, but are anxious to get back in their run. At least they can eat some grass and scratch around a little.
Debbie also - I haven't eaten duck, I recall going out to lunch with a boss many years ago- he had duck breast and raved about it. He went duck hunting quite a bit and with wild duck I think they just eat the breast anyhow but it can have an off taste if the ducks in the wild ate a lot of fish. I won't tell you how they tenderize the meat..... The duck you got was probably commercially raised and would be good I would think. Duck eggs seem to be a big thing in some areas, haven't tried those either.
Lisa - I can hear the gears turning about buying that little house. That fiber arts convention sounds fabulous, hope you can make it.
Stained toilets - Collette came yesterday and we discussed the mineral stains/ring/streaks in the older toilet in the master bathroom. I told her I wanted to try a pumice stick I saw advertised. She said she'd tried them, wasn't impressed. She and I have both scrubbed with Bon Ami cleaners, bleached, you name it. I did get some benefit from using CLR a while back along with Bon Ami. She said just give up, she sees a lot of older toilets like that, including her own, lol.
Make it a super day, ladies. Those of you east and southeast of me, don't put your winter coats away yet.

Never found out who made the pyramids. The ‘balls’ are made of sand from the beach. That makes it even more weird because all the ‘balls’ were uniform is size, shape, and color! Whoever or whatever made the pyramids did an excellent job!

DH has to go to eye doctor today for a re-check. The glasses he got last month are not ‘right’ according to him. He’s been to the glasses person a couple times who told him to get the prescription verified by the doctor. IDK, I’ve never had issue with glasses like he does!? Other than that, not much. Talked to my oldest daughter yesterday who doesn’t know what is going on with my DMD. We came to the conclusion that it is part of her grieving. She is taking her anger out on me. I will just have to be patient. I’m seeing my therapist the last week of February.
Thought for the day:
Why should you never take paper to the gym?
It gets ripped too easily!

Catching up from Sunday, no declutter progress Monday but did drag my lazy butt to BB&B and line dancing. Tuesday’s success was finishing and filing our taxes. Today’s challenges: BB&B, line dancing and the house of pain for ?final? step in implants. Not sure I want to proceed, have a deep ache in the corner of that jaw, hope they can xray and find nothing to worry about.
Heather three cheers for the three musketeers, hip, hip hooray!
Cindy from EC of FLyour Christmas cactus and lush back yard!
Rebecca no rX for Eli’s pneumonia? SMH!
Lanette sorry I missed the check in, but you can probably guess why. The bloompfing up trend continues
Ginny the people here who are getting “colds” are getting “4-week coughs.” I may go back to masking in Freddie’s.
Mo good luck on your search for a CPA. Recommendations from trusted friends, coworkers, pew buddies are best, imho. Wish I could find one… we had a good one in Idaho.
Machka the “go big or go home” meme made me smile. Remembered the one time Mama threatened “finish your supper or go to bed without.” I was in bed before she could change her mind. Funny how as a child I really didn’t like to eat [sigh]
Lanette I’ve tried pumice stones on toilets and imho it’s a bad deal. If it even removes the stain, it does it by scratching the porcelain, making it more likely to stain again. Foo!
Whoops! The pooches are telling me it’s way past tummy time, c’mon mom, we’re starving!
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Cleaning out some file cabinet of DH. Two big boxes all related to a big genealogy search he did on a distant relative. His research was used to help write a book. It is mostly info on his mother's side. I am going to ask some of his relatives have any interest in these files. I knew he did a lot of work on it and now I see the evidence. Hopefully his relatives will want some of it.6
