Feb total 43.5/100 miles
YTD: 160.4 miles
2/1: 6.5 miles
2/2: 14 miles
2/4: 3.2 miles
2/7: 4.4 miles
2/8: 6.4 miles
2/10: 4.6 miles
2/12: 4.4 miles
Did a fartlek run before work. It rained last night so the sidewalks were a bit slippery, which helped keep my speed in check. Garmin has no idea what to do with me right now. A few days ago it said I was in recovery following the HM and today it went to overreaching. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I went to Pilates yesterday. It was a tough class and my arms are a little sore, but I feel like I'm starting to build the habit. Also went for a walk this evening with my husband. I've been trying to get him up and moving and going on a walk with him seems to be the easiest way to do that.6 -
I always wonder as we get older if the diagnosis we get are lazier from the Drs... sort of like 'why bother'
I would wonder about a COPD diagnosis personally because chronic coughing after an illness can be common for weeks.
Had to wait a long time this morning for the thunderstorms and hard rain to ease up before getting out for a run but decided to prioritize ME and just go in to work later. Probably bad optic at work but I did quite a bit remotely before hand so no quilt here. Ended up with a 7 today and a 1 miler at lunch - been running 2 per more often with the colder weather as it saves some time vs walking and not worried about melting down and needing a shower.
At 97.39 for the month out of 100 goal. Should make it I think.7 -
@WarmJellyfish I'm so sorry to hear that you have COPD. You've been here only a short time but you seem like the type that will adapt and adjust goals to fit your new normal.5
-
@quilteryoyo hopefully, trying the puffer out now to see if it makes any difference
@brnlow i hear you on the asthma, hopefully its something that can be managed for you. Just don't move to my part of the world where its super cold lol
@John772016 hopefully things will improve with the coming seasons
@summerskier This came from a xray which showed a lot of lower lobe opaque stuff including a hyperinflated lung and flattened diaphragm. I've had other niggly other things before I got the coughing. Like feeling sleepy during a run, tired a lot of the time, sometimes running like a punch drunk. I tried to eliminate all the usual suspects and came up empty. I started to severely struggle at altitude. Thought it was my Thalessemia and low HB levels, got me a pulse oximeter and on some climbs I was down to 60% blood O2 levels. I did have a constant mucus problem before and got me a lung expansion breathing device. But this makes it all click together.
@martaindale lol I can be more stubborn than a mule, hence why I like ultras.7 -

Two more runs to add and both very similar. It was a case of keep the head down and get them done. It's because the weather is really cold with a scourging wind which is very typical for this time of year here. My husband who loves to talk about the weather being a farmer, says it will stay like this until we rain to take it away.
@WarmJellyfish - I sorry to hear about your COPD diagnosis.6 -
@kgirlhart You are doing great, esp. with a hectic work schedule.
@martaindale Sounds like your recovery is going great. Maybe Garmin is like Goldilocks and today will be perfect.Glad you are getting your husband out for some walks.
@SummerSkier Barring a disaster, I think you've got this month's goal in the bag.I love that you can prioritize yourself.
You're doing great @Mari33a . I just love old farmer sayings. (Not old farmers, but old sayings by farmers. LOL)3 -
@WarmJellyfish Sorry about your diagnosis. Good thing you got it checked out. Hope you are feeling a better soon!
I got dressed for the outdoors this morning, planning to drag myself out for a ca. 30km run. I just sat in the car not wanting to get out into the falling snow and freeze. I knew I would feel better once I started running, but I didn’t want to be out in the snow that long after getting snowed on yesterday.
I decided to regroup, go home, and get some work done first. I only have time for a long run today, so I figured all was not yet lost and I could try on the treadmill at the gym. I did dawdle a bit, so I only had time for 25km. But seriously I spent a reaaaaaly long time on the treadmill. I kept alternating every 30 minutes between music and audiobook and that made it interesting enough. I made a sachet of Maurten and ate some salt tabs every now and then to keep hydrated. I can’t say it was fun exactly but I was proud to turn the day back around in my favor.
150.9/301km for February.

I'm scheduled for a short run. It's gently sprinkling and 60°F (15.5°C) and I don't want to do it.
With @Laurz9191 and others here, I wonder what ya'll would do?
Yes, I am going to brave the elements.6 -

I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning so pushed it to after work. It worked out better because I had time to do a longer run than I would have had this morning. It was a good run and the weather was nice this afternoon.6 -

It was cold this morning. 🥶 20°F feels like 8°F. I hate cold weather. But I got out there and ran 3.25 miles. I'd like to say it was a good run once I got going, but honestly, I was just glad to come back inside. I was glad I ran and it wasn't a bad run, but I am ready for winter to be over.

Seems that gods are still trying to thwart my running. I went for a skin check at the beginning of the week and my dermatologist didn’t like the look of one of the moles on my back. He said it’s nothing to worry about but he wanted to take it off anyway. So now I have a couple of stitches and I’m not allowed to run for two weeks. I questioned him about that and he said, please don’t run for at least two or three days, so we’ll see how we go! Unfortunately I can’t do yoga or Pilates either, or gardening 😫7
-
@kgirlhart I feel you!!!
@ContraryMaryMary At least you talked him down from several weeks to several days. I hope you can get back out again in no time!
@chris_in_cal Agree with the others, don’t think, just go! That’s what I always tell myself and most of the time it works!
But seriously, I went on a run this morning and it was beautiful but also quite harsh. The weather is about the same as yesterday and there was quite an icy wind going on. It was nice to be out, but equally nice to be done. I guess I would need different gear to be a more serious snow runner. My ears and face never really stayed warm, so I was glad I opted for the treadmill yesterday. I ran 11.1km.
162/301km for February.9 -
Morning all
Got in 5.5 at 10'22.
Happy friday9 -
@ContraryMaryMary oh no! That sucks. Just as you'd turned a corner and run a Half and everything 😔3
-
way to go Chris. I will admit to sometimes having trouble getting out the door as well but usually if I can get past the first 1/4 mile and then mile 3 my body and brain decide to cooperate. Like Kgirl yesterday was miserable. It was 30 something feels like teens with a really ugly north gale. Even tho it has been colder I chose a mask and to dress strongly. Today is cold but not freezing and the wind has calmed so should be better.
Up to 101 out of 100 and 325 for the year.6 -
Doing great @martaindale .
You are hardier than I @kgirlhart .
@ContraryMaryMary Glad he changed his mind on the time for running after questioned. Sorry about the delay, but hope he was right and it is nothing to worry about. They are usually pretty good about knowing these things from just looking.
@Laurz9191 Nice job getting out in the cold for your run.
Another great run @tarun_yadavA .
I knew you could do it @SummerSkierAmazing mileage.

Me, and I believe many others here recommend investigating a yoga practice. It does wonders for a wandering mind.

It would be game on if I wasn't coughing into people's faces all the time....1 -

Hoping all will be well @ContraryMaryMary & I'm sure it will be!
I need to get yearly checks (my Dad passed away from skin cancer) & I seem to have biopsies each time (each time I was told they didn't think it was anything to worry about, and they were always right, always negative).
My Dr went from 'nothing for a couple weeks'.... to 'a day or two'.... to 'keep it covered and try not to rip the stitches'.....pretty sure he was a runner,5 -

I'd hoped to run again from Wednesday. Unfortunately I got sick: I inhaled saliva and now have a really bad windpipe inflammation. I can't go out without coughing like crazy, despite steroids. So that will take a while.8
-
@ContraryMaryMary here’s hoping all goes well with the results. Sorry about the benching, but sounds like it really is only for a short while. I’m glad dermatologists err on the side of caution. Several of us here have had to deal with suspicious moles needing to be removed and biopsied. Mostly all have been negative. My husband’s was cancer though, and he’s had two rounds of chemo chemical peels done. He goes back in 3 months.
@yirara and @WarmJellyfish sorry to hear you both are still under the weather. Here’s hoping improvements come soon.
Ever since shoveling snow for a couple of days earlier this week my ankle/foot pain has returned. I do blame myself and the fact that I didn’t wear the arch insert while out there. Didn’t want to get it wet. My feet/ankles were twisting and turning on the uneven snowy terrain. Tomorrow’s a 3 mile walk with the training team, so I’ve been resting the ankle. Will plan on the 3 and see how ankle does walking on it with my insert.8 -
I'm sure you'll figure out something @WarmJellyfish !
I hope you quit coughing soon.
Hope you got a good report today @chris_in_cal .
Glad you're feeling some better @John772016 .
Oh no @yirara ! I hope you get better soon too!
@daria0919 Sorry snow shoveling hurt your ankle again. I hope the walk goes well tomorrow.
