Oh Lisa! You crack me up. "Try not to turn on the stove!" 🤣
Things are good with my son today. He's spending time with hubby right now, which is good.

Did a yoga dvd today then walked to the BK here to see their new bldg, take pics to send to my store mgr. Now we’re going to Lowe’s/Home Depot to get the tile and vanity.
Rebecca food porn queen – yes, I’m seeing all of your posts. My grandmother used to put eggshells on her plants! That and coffee grounds
M – like I mentioned before, Vince is compromising by having to turn to his side a little to get the TP (he’d rather it be in front of him) while I’m compromising by letting it be recessed into the vanity. So the problem is solved. I can’t post a pic right now of the bathroom because I don’t have the right connection with me. But there is a 31” vanity (that’s the most we can use). 10” from the end of the vanity is the toilet. Another 10” from the end of that is the tub. While you are sitting on the toilet, reach your arm out. That’s how wide the bathroom is. That’s why I didn’t want to give up even 5” of floor space.
Ginny – Kohl’s gave me a credit card with a $4,000 credit limit in place of their Kohl’s card which I really preferred. Do you know that I had the credit limit reduced to $300 (I was concerned that if someone got hold of the card they could charge up to $4,000). That one action could negatively affect my credit score. Well, it’s high enough that it didn’t have a lot of an impact. I know that whatever you decide, it will be the right decision
Heather – you always make such beautiful cards
Allie – wasn’t Sean going to move in with you? Or was it Dan? How’s that going
klyia – lololo I hear ya about the tp roll/cat toy. When we first got the kittens, we had to put ours up on the towel rack (which is where the rug that goes in front of the tub is)
This morning exercised and then walked to the BK here. Came back and put a load of laundry in. Took it out and brought it to the condo so we could go to Lowe’s. I honestly thought we were going to purchase the tile but Vince wanted to take more measurements. He’s one of the “measure twice, cut once” people. It’s really not a bad thing
I was thinking that a wrap-around one piece tub went all the way to the ceiling. I couldn’t find one that did, then realized that they don’t. Even the tub tile here now doesn’t go to the ceiling. So it’s back to tile for the tub since we don’t want to have exposed drywall. The vanity has speckled top so I think we’ll go with white tile but a border of black
Did go out by the pool, but it’s quite windy and cool. But I did get my first pool session in!!!
Barbara – I misunderstood, it wasn’t that the contractor couldn’t install the one piece tub, it’s more that he’d prefer not to. But in the end we’re going to go with tile since he’s said that he’d tile up to the ceiling. He’d prefer not to install a one piece since it leaves about 2feet of exposed wall. Love that pic for Rebecca
Carol – I would say some sort of fraud. Good for you just ending it
Flea – glad to hear things worked out with your son

Carol-I am betting it is a scammer. Next time use the block caller function. They do some creative things.
Lynn-sorry for your loss-our pets are our family.
Rita-sorry Brownie is fading. I might be difficult for him to adjust to a new place.
Flea-I often think we figure out parenting once we are grand parents! There is no manual for it-we just do the best we can at the time.
Tracey-I also think walking is the right choice. I walked for hs and college Bachelor's degree. I skipped walking for Masters. Mom and. my husband wanted me to walk for PhD. At Ohio State we were in the football stadium. The PhD students were the only ones who actually went forward for diploma, had their name called and shook President's hand.
Kylia-my two cats have attacked the toilet paper for quite some time but they wasted plenty their youth.
Have had a fairly productive day. Don't think I will get taxes done tonight but will get papers together once I finish ironing and put sheets on bed. Got out for a 2 mile walk today and it was wonderful. My pace wasn't too bad-22'27/mile. Left foot didn't act up much but I figure slower is better than nothing.
Off to finish up stuff-busy day tomorrow,
Take care all,

Machka - Glad you and DH got out for a bit.
Ginny - I hope your doctor can help with your meds.
Heather - that was a surprise I’m sure. I love the candle holders and your daffodils.
Lisa - painting a bathroom isn’t the easiest job. It feels nice when it’s only muscles though doesn’t it?
Lanette - I bet your sign would go well too. Zzz
Flea - I think we all have days and weeks and sometimes months where we feel we are failing our children. I hope you and your son have it all settled now.
Rebecca - I don’t know why I didn’t think of fresh grounds. 😂
Maybe because I need something for my used ones.
Carol - I have had that same scam via text twice in recent months. I delete and report. These people should hack for the good, give people money, clear debt, give rebates, instead they just keep preying on the innocent.
Allie - that cold house is abusive to you and Delia. I don’t understand how she expects so much of you and does nothing to help you in return.
Evelyn - I literally laughed out loud at the dust bunnies growling. 😂😂
I wonder if that’s what keeps waking me up at night. Under my bed is terrible.
Rita - I hope Brownie finds peace soon. Sorry that it will cause you pain though.
I made some shirts for me today. In the past I haven’t really worn tshirts but a lot of the ladies at work do. I am so hot at work I needed some short sleeves and I had these here to do something with.
Rodg wants me to make him a shirt about Gen X. Not sure what I’ll do yet. It’s a next weekend thing now.

This weekend went by way too fast, doncha think?
I was able to chat with both sisters, so that was nice. My aunt passed away last week. She was 96 and a half. She was an amazing lady, and hopefully I will travel in March to her funeral in Redmond OR. I am planning on taking an Amtrak down to my sisters in Shedd, then her and I can drive over. Probably share a hotel before and sfter the actual funeral day. I will travel a couple days before sister and I travel, because Amtrak journeys usually do a number on my digestion. Its just a whole day of traveling, and though I get up periodically to stretch my legs walking is kind of dangerous with all the sudden lurches etc. It will be nice to see all my.cousins though.

And my walk today ...
Machka in Oz6 -
Count my house as one with the growing dust bunnies! Actually the cats are to blame. My husband used to vacuum on a very regular basis-at least every other day (he did not work outside the house then). I find myself just not looking at the floor much. I am improving on it but it really is never ending.
Tracey-cute t shirts. I prefer crew neck t-shirts to the v-neck.
Rebecca-sorry to hear of your aunt's passing but 96 1/2?! Such a long life! I have always wanted to take a train trip. I was thinking about the one that goes across Canada but I will wait and see how everything goes. I mainly want to head west, see the Rockies and some of the Pacific Northwest. I am looking at seniors tours.
Terri-I always love your cheery hellos to us.
Woke up around 3:30-feet and back were bothersome. Took some ibuprofen and got ice packs for feet and back and dozed on the couch for another couple of hours. May also be a bit of anxiousness over doctor visit. I may stop by the Casino on the way home for some mindless time based upon what doc says. Or I could come home and do taxes-or maybe both depending on length of visit.
Well need to stretch out back and legs before starting my day. Warmer and sunshine today-high near 50.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio8 -
Hey everyone, so lovely to meet you.
I'm Sarah, nearly 52 and due to significant back problems (for which i'm soon having spinal fusion surgery) I find it a real struggle to lose weight due to limited mobility.
I would love to have buddies for this journey to offer support and have support back.
Many thanks and I hope you are having a good a day as can10 -
Good Monday all!
Last week of February.....I at least feel it has been a productive month.
Ginny I hope you can get answers. Hugs!
Flea Even as adult children parents we have those days! You seem to have a good relationship with him. I bet it will be all good! Hugs for you as it is hard on the heart.
Rebecca Sorry to hear about your Aunt.
I have fought work computers most of the week. I had lots to do, but couldnt get "my home log in" computer to work. After two days/nights trying to get things to work, I switched my gotopc program to the main computer. Friday night I was up until 2 am catching up on invoices and estimates. I slept in recliner as to not wake up DH. Felt great to get done. Saturday got all called that were done and all estimates called. Got home and started by wiping off paw prints from one place which led to total dust, move furniture vacuumed, general clean up. After dinner, I sat down on bed to chat with DH.....next thing I know he woke me up and told me to go to bed. It was 7 pm! I was asleep at 715! Longest I have slept in long time. 9.5 hours! Yesterday I caught up with all of you, cooked breakfast, walked, played doorman for the kittens, helped DH with a couple of projects, washed work truck, did it's windows, and vacuumed it. Cooked dinner. Then started working on work computer with c drive error and unable to connect to internet (dns error). Cleared a bunch of memory stuffs and finally got it to repair c drive .....maybe....is defraging now. Also spoke with my brother and sister about mom. In spoiler Alzheimer's....Ever feel like the third wheel in a conversation...that was me yesterday. Our mother has been showing memory issues for years but it is getting worse. She moved away from all of us. She is a narsictic, recovering alcoholic. She wasnt really present alot during our childhood. Our baby sister has thought ahead and has care plans in place. There is a ladynear mom who has taken care of her for years. Our brother took care of our aunt. He also is caring for his 97 yo father in law and wife's aunt. My sister said i did my time taking care of them and caring for my DH. I believe the whole conversation has saddened me. If family genetics are such a strong thing, i only have about 15yrs before it becomes an issue. My grandmother was one of 8 girls. 7 died with Alzheimers. My aunt died last year with Alzheimer's. My mom has it at (signs started about mid 70s). That isn't that far off for me. I reckon I need to maintain healthy life style and get plans in place. 15-20 yrs isn't that far away......
It is suppose to be warmer again still. Was over calories yesterday.....was shocked at that especially when diary said in 5 weeks I would be 140 lbs! I was able to see where i could have made better choices.
I need to get walking. Cant type and walk.
Welcomes!
Hugs!
So much love!

Flea - I'm so glad I could bring a chortle to you! Made my day when you said that. I hesitated to share this, because you may remember what I've said about the uselessness of comparative pain, but your references to the passage you and your son are going through reminded me strongly of a conversation between me and mine.
Warning - drug references:It was one of those car conversations, you know, relaxed because you don't have to meet their eyes.
He'd been with us for about a year, since just before we married, and I asked him how things went the during that year he lived with his birth mom before he came back to us (he was 15 when he moved in with us). He couldn't handle living with her after her 5th suicide attempt, and asked to come, and of course we said yes.
And he said living with her was OK, but it really kinda bothered him when she took the money he made working at McDonalds part-time and used it to buy whatever her dealer was selling that day.
And then he said cheerfully that at least she did share it, and even taught him how to snort it, as it was usually blow. The rage rising in my chest slammed my throat shut, probably a good thing, and I just nodded and let him keep talking. Won't describe the rest.
She's dead now, departed more than ten years after that conversation (OD'd on her bipolar meds, ironically) and I still don't forgive her.
No, I do not think you're a bad parent, or anything even close to one, and no, I don't think you broke your son. They're resilient, the young ones. More than we give them credit for, I think.
Laundry's going - will start the dishwasher when my cup of coffee is empty, and jump in the shower. While I'm finishing my coffee, I need to break my latest script down to an outline, and will get a recording done after I get spiffed up a little. Got a couple of runners I need to cut a bit smaller and then serge the ends and get them down in both bathrooms. Just a few minutes work on them to customize them. In Monday morning Energizer Bunny mode... just squirreling all over the place with my animal metaphors.... bahahaha! 🐰👯♂️
Later, y'all,
Love,

Flea - so glad things are good with your son, I'm sure you're right. You two just needed time together.
Tracey - Ack, I got behind. You did so well in your class - walking for graduation seems very fitting, and you certainly earned the honor. Love those shirts, by the way.
Ginny - wishing you the best at your doctor's visit. Stopping by the Casino sounds like some well-deserved fun. Amtrak sounds like a good way to travel for some distance, my sis and her DH used to take it across country and really liked it. She was able to pack enough food for a lot of the trip.
Rebecca - condolences on your aunt's passing. 96 1/2 well-lived years! So glad you have Amtrak to travel down to Oregon. Love how you've been able to spend quality time with your sister(s) and grandchildren by venturing out more these past couple years.
T stopped by yesterday afternoon and we went to the feed store to get chicken feed. Honestly, I couldn't think of a better way to spend time on a Sunday afternoon. She was telling me about her FIL, 92, who was supposed to quit driving per his doctor, but his sons are lax about enforcing it except for her DH who doesn't have power of attorney. FIL was a powerful patriarch in this community, he's not used to anyone telling him "NO". Now he has advanced dementia and is a threat and still drives (sorta) short distances (so far.)
I have been following this "Answers about Alzheimer's" YouTube channel for a while, and she has an interesting video here on when seniors should stop driving. Really opened my eyes. I think I'm still a pretty good driver - reflexes fine, can turn my head, not on medications. But I know vision isn't what it used to be (no more night driving.) Going to town once a week very early to shop is plenty for me right now. But I realize if I had dementia, I might really protest losing this symbol of independence.
Here's the video. 12 minutes.
Make it a great week, ladies!

With the help of the support of this thread and a determination to improve my health, I learned how to eat that made the most of the fewest calories. Other women are dealing with mobility issues now and can give you helpful hints.

Kylia More and more is being learned about lifestyle and how it affects our genes. I am learning more and more how diet and life style affects our microbes in our gut and the profound influence it can have on our health. Unfortunately the SAD American diet is addictive and adds more misery onto those who suffer with illnesses that would improve and in some cases go into remission if treated with nutrition, exercise, sleep, faith, and purpose. I reading more and more cases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, parkinson , alzheimers, autism, Crohn's. ADHD, mental health, Chemical addiction improve and in some cases go into remission with lifestyle changes.
Bottom lines our genes do not have to be our destiny!6 -

Thank you for your condolances. She lived in Minnesota for most of her life, then over the last 10 years she's lived near her son in Oregon. My trip from Portland to Montana was pretty. Its was a couple years ago when my sister lived there. I woke up to snow which was so dramatic, just bought a coffee and watched the pretty scenery go by. I think your best bet is to get a sleeper car as my sleep was interrupted by stops, the sounds of the doors opening, etc.
I hope your doctors visit provides you some answers💖👍🏼. Big hugs!

Good morning all!
First - thank you all for the kind words about our Libby. She was such a huge part of our lives. Neither my hubby or I ever thought her loss would hit us this hard. 14 years was a long time and we are both struggling. We cleaned out the house this weekend of all her stuff - toys went to my son and his wife, as did her leftover food and joint supplements. Her crate came to work with us today to give to one of the guys here. So did her poofy bed. We had to rearrange furniture to make the space that was taken up by her crate less noticeable. One day at a time.
Getting back into my workout groove today - I have found some really fun walking workouts by Get Fit with Rick. I had been doing the Walk at Home workouts with Leslie Sansone, but was getting super bored. I need a little variation in my walks, and theirs seem very redundant.
I am going to purchase a smoker! We love to grill and since we do mostly lower carb eating, I want to be able to make some brisket and other things in the smoker. I love pork belly and have been roasting it in the oven, but have seen a lot of really great recipes for it using a smoker. Also want to try some smoked cream cheese.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day ~

Its been about 5 years that I realized that with Amtrak so inexpensive, that I could go down to my sisters or sons place most every June or so. Now wit both son and daughter in law working full-time, its a bit tricky, plus I need to stay at a hotel. Before when it was just son doing college, I could stay at their place and there wasn't any added expense of hotel. The last time I stayed and babysat they had Skin on a day crib next to them in their room, so I had an air mattress in Eli's room. That's not an option now that he's older etc. The good thing is that my sisters place is only 2 hours from sons. So if the kids want to see grandma they need to come down for a visit!
Do you remember me telling you guys a long time ago when we lived on the coast, about Prudence my neighbor? She was in her 90's couldn't get car insurance because she had had too many accidents. Once he said she turned a corner and her little dog in her lap, jumped out the window! It was a crazy situation, the dog was fine though! The courts finally had to get her to relinquish her license. She was a character. The was my first situation of how I didn't want to be. A confused,, with no family, bitter and angry elderly lady. The frustrating part is that her brother would drive up from CA periodically and she would act all everything was fine, I am just fine. So I had to set her down with a booklet I ordered from the senior center on services offered. I couldn't keep filling her prescription thing, writing out her checks to pay bills because she couldn't see, or walk her dog all the time. She got services to help her and she got on a waiting list for a couple facilities so hopefully she got in one of those.
We don't like to drive at night except when its Christmas and we're looking for lights.
