    Starting week 11 with a bang.

    I was looking at my data over the past 10 weeks and have noticed that my calories IN are lowest on Monday's and Tuesday's and highest on Friday's and Saturday's. So, I know where I need to dial things in and plan to ensure I keep my 1600 average IN over the course of the week.

    Thoughts at the start of this round:

    Approximately this time last year (Challenge #15) I began to slowly gain weight throughout the rest of my winter and well into my Spring. I am still battling some of those pounds as we start this new challenge. This is a new opportunity to prove to myself and my family that I AM serious about getting healthier. I know I have bad eating disorders that bring about horrible eating habits. I also battle cravings because I havenโ€™t gotten away from sugar or chocolate long enough to stop the cravings. I have such a long way to go and only a sketchy road to get there but Iโ€™ll never give up on myself or lose faith in my strength or my resolve. Iโ€™ll admit that Iโ€™m not super confident that I will ever be in the 140โ€™s again (my ultimate goal), but I AM 100% confident that I will shed these 190โ€™s like a bad dream and NEVER weigh this much again. I donโ€™t know when this will happen exactly. But I do know that it will. Thanks for sharing my journey and letting me travel with you on yours.

Snow is expected tonight and tomorrow here in Michigan but I hope it will miss my area. SOS appointment today to renew license becoming Real ID compliant. Time to renew tabs before May birthday anyway. Keep your fingers crossed for me that Iโ€™ll pass the required eye exam with my eye issues including (but not limited to) that hole in the back of my right eye. Seriously worried.

    Hi everyone.
    I am Dawn, 64 years old, I live in SE BC Canada
    I'm not sure how many rounds of this 100 that I have done, but quite a few. I first joined this thread at 198 pounds.
    I was sitting at 130 pounds in 2021, working very hard to get into the 120s (ugw 110-118)
    The weight that I am currently at is very hard on the joints in my knees, ankle, and feet.

    ๐ŸŽฏ Not in the right frame of mind to lose weight. Reminder to self โ€ฆ last year for our April cruise I was wearing size 18 jeans. My go to clothing for cruises had to be updated! This year I took in my favorite pants at the waist and bought size 16 jeans/pants for our cruise! I also fit in a little black dress that has been sitting in my closet for years and bought a new purple dress for the dressier nights on the cruise.

He has a habit of wanting bread for breakfast, sandwiches or fast food for lunch and bread & pasta for dinner. So we are going to tackle this together โ€ฆ I said you can have all the bread you want but Iโ€™m going back to my habits last summer and try to lose another 15 lbs.

I also want to prep my veggie garden soil before my 3 yr old granddaughter comes over tomorrow.ย  Grocery shopping, sitting down to watercolor paint and read my book club book โ€ฆ this month it is science fiction 'Starter Villain' by John Scalzi. I didnโ€™t get to paint until 6:30-8:30pm but I completed my entire list of to dos! AF
    3/13: 210.8 - YYesterday bike 30 and PT.ย  Turned and amended the soil in the veggie garden.ย  Bought some premade salads when grocery shopping to help with lunch when I donโ€™t feel like making one.ย  Today I biked 30 min before my busy day kicked in! Met my DIL and my sister for lunch. Picked up granddaughter age 3 to stay over for the night.ย  We went plant shopping โ€ฆ lots of different cherry tomatoes. Granddaughter and I planted all the herbs, tomatoes and flowers in my veggie bed, watered them with her can then turned on the sprinklers and she played in the sprinklers! DH bought wine so not AF but I did limit mine to 1 glass. No longer AF.
    3/14: 210.6 - Taking care of granddaughter today, made lunch already so I can spend time with her โ€ฆ crawfish รฉtouffรฉe! DIL and her mom (visiting from out of town) are coming for lunch then we plan to go shopping in a historic district. Houston Rodeo tonight.ย  With all the walking at the rodeo I might count that as my exercise. Not sure what this evening out with friends will look like with food and drink โ€ฆ but Iโ€™ll definitely buy at least a water bottle.ย 
    3/15: 211.6 - Yesterday took a long walk with my 3 yr old granddaughter to play at the park but it did not cover the calories in crawfish รฉtouffรฉe for lunch and then fried fish shrimp French fries as the rodeo last night. Back to more normal routines today!

    4/16: 209.3 - YES!!! I maintained under 210 while on vacation! Expecting a bump and bloat on the scale from the long plane ride in addition to just getting home from vacation indulgence and lots of desserts. BUT I walked a ton and didnโ€™t really snack much at all. Then there was all the interesting and challenging food LOL! Loved the experience and tried almost everything but letโ€™s just say that sometimes I did better than others. 3 of the excursions included โ€œauthentic Japanese cuisineโ€ which those meals were more more challenging. When DH and I struck out on our own we found food we enjoyed. Iโ€™ll post some pics.

    Vegetarian Japanese Meal near Buddhist retreat. All the items were gathered in the nearby woods / region. What looks like asparagus in the top left is actually bamboo. And the green in the middle square bowl that looks like celery tasted like green beans.

    Their idea of pickles is very different that the US in the south! Usually pickled radishes.

    Udon with beef, wakame seaweed, burdock root tempura and soft-boiled egg. The egg when stirred into the soup made it very rich. This too was yummy.

    I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, so to speak. My 7 day trend weight is 147.9. I'll be pleased if I can maintain the last two days of reduction, but I'm not counting on it. Based on my data, Monday and Tuesday are my 'best' eating days.

    Yesterday was an active rest day on my exercise program. I took the 'active' part seriously: Did 15 minutes of low impact cardio, yoga, went for two walks, vacuumed the house, mopped the main floor and cleaned all the bathrooms. Got over 20K steps.

    @Lilylady3k Love the pictures! thank you for sharing them. There is a reason why Japan has less obesity than the west. They eat a wide variety of foods in small portion sizes. Glad you returned home safely and had a wonderful trip.

    I recently watched this video from Coach Viva regarding cravings. It might help you identify a strategy that works for you. Interestingly, I've used the strategy she describes for years. Often cravings are confused with thirst. Cravings also pass in about 15 minutes.

    Thoughts at the start of this round:

    Approximately this time last year (Challenge #15) I began to slowly gain weight throughout the rest of my winter and well into my Spring. I am still battling some of those pounds as we start this new challenge. This is a new opportunity to prove to myself and my family that I AM serious about getting healthier. I know I have bad eating disorders that bring about horrible eating habits. I also battle cravings because I havenโ€™t gotten away from sugar or chocolate long enough to stop the cravings. I have such a long way to go and only a sketchy road to get there but Iโ€™ll never give up on myself or lose faith in my strength or my resolve. Iโ€™ll admit that Iโ€™m not super confident that I will ever be in the 140โ€™s again (my ultimate goal), but I AM 100% confident that I will shed these 190โ€™s like a bad dream and NEVER weigh this much again. I donโ€™t know when this will happen exactly. But I do know that it will. Thanks for sharing my journey and letting me travel with you on yours.

Will get in any necessary shopping while away too since the prices and offerings in a city are much better than our one rural grocery store at home. I have my horror stories about the dentist that I wonโ€™t elaborate on. Without going into details, letโ€™s just say that Dr. prescribes me a โ€œchill pillโ€ specifically for the dentist visits. The script is for like 6 pills in the bottom of the bottle and renewd once per year. I usually take it, even for a cleaning. Dental trauma is very hard to overcome especially if it goes all the way back to childhood, and then some! Happy hump day everyone!

    Wow, fabulous photos, than you for that!

    Looks like it was a great trip. The food is interesting indeed, lots of it, but in very small portions and likely very low in calorie.

    Congrats on keeping it under 210 even though traveling.

    I echo the comment that Asian eating is likely much healthier than North American eating habits. Keeping some of that for your repertoire?

    @dawnbgethealthy - It's a good thing that work friends taught me to eat with chopsticks back in the 90s!!! Many times forks were not an option. I laughed one time when the restaurant brought me chopsticks and not DH โ€ฆ I said I must have chosen well.

    Some of the ideas like small portions were great however, I'm really not a "raw" seafood kind of gal though I did taste almost everything that was put in front of me. There were so many strange to me seasonings!

    DH and I started taking the kids when they were young to eat sushi but I never indulged in the straight raw fish like DH and the kids. Turns out I like the tuna sashimi but not the squid (too chewy). So I've expanded my world a little.

    Also I would like most things hot not cold! Eating with the large group excursion meant many of the dishes were premade like tempera (fried and battered) which I would like fresh. And the soba noodles I would have liked but they were served cold too. Even some of the yummy veggies like spinach and the bamboo would have been better if warm.

    But I don't think I'll be seeking out many of the dishes again with the exception of things cooked, ramen / udon (which are basically pasta LOL). And we might start tossing sushi back into our monthly routine again.

    It was quite an experience!

    You would have loved the walk in the woods to the 5 story Pagoda of Mt. Haguro. Pictures below of some of the walk. DH was sick that day and couldn't join us. BUT I made it โ€ฆ my knees held up.

    2000+ more steps that we did not take โ€ฆ the group turned around and after returning the way we came up the 240 steps a bus took us up the mountain to the temple.

This year I took in my favorite pants at the waist and bought size 16 jeans/pants for our cruise! I also fit in a little black dress that has been sitting in my closet for years and bought a new purple dress for the dressier nights on the cruise.

    3/13: 210.8 - YYesterday bike 30 and PT.ย  Turned and amended the soil in the veggie garden.ย  Bought some premade salads when grocery shopping to help with lunch when I donโ€™t feel like making one.ย  Today I biked 30 min before my busy day kicked in! Met my DIL and my sister for lunch. Picked up granddaughter age 3 to stay over for the night.ย  We went plant shopping โ€ฆ lots of different cherry tomatoes. Granddaughter and I planted all the herbs, tomatoes and flowers in my veggie bed, watered them with her can then turned on the sprinklers and she played in the sprinklers! DH bought wine so not AF but I did limit mine to 1 glass. No longer AF.
    3/14: 210.6 - Taking care of granddaughter today, made lunch already so I can spend time with her โ€ฆ crawfish รฉtouffรฉe! DIL and her mom (visiting from out of town) are coming for lunch then we plan to go shopping in a historic district. Houston Rodeo tonight.ย  With all the walking at the rodeo I might count that as my exercise. Not sure what this evening out with friends will look like with food and drink โ€ฆ but Iโ€™ll definitely buy at least a water bottle.ย 
    3/15: 211.6 - Yesterday took a long walk with my 3 yr old granddaughter to play at the park but it did not cover the calories in crawfish รฉtouffรฉe for lunch and then fried fish shrimp French fries as the rodeo last night. Back to more normal routines today!

    4/16: 209.3 - Expecting a bump and bloat on the scale from the long plane ride in addition to just getting home from vacation indulgence. BUT I walked a ton and didnโ€™t really snack much at all. Then there was all the interesting and challenging food LOL! Loved the experience and tried almost everything but letโ€™s just say that sometimes I did better than others. 3 of the excursions included โ€œauthentic Japanese cuisineโ€ which those meals were more more challenging. When DH and I struck out on our own we found food we enjoyed. Iโ€™ll post some pics.

    4/17: 209.1 - Hopefully my internal clock is reset โ€ฆ woke at a normal time after adjusting from the 14 hr time difference between Tokyo and Houston.

    Down 3.6 lbs for the challenge which is amazing given I went on a 3 week vacation! Hopefully I can continue to make progress this round since my 4th granddaughter is due May 14 when this challenge ends.

    My 7 day trend weight is 147.5. If I stay on this trend, then I'll meet my weekly goal weight. Yesterday, used my evening snack strategies, in the end, I enjoyed three Maple Cookies. It upped by calories in for the day, still had a small deficit.

    OH!!!! What an amazing trek to the 5 level Pagoda! Even snow on the trail! Those photos โ€ฆ heaven on earth. I am so happy that you are sharing this, it pulls us out of our every day and gives perspective to life.

    What would traditionally be done on each of the 5 levels. Buddhist?

    You have been on some very good trips. Would you say that this one was the most different and interesting? The food sure was. Honestly, I don't think that I would have eaten anything but the noodles lol. Having said that, tiny portions of many things (like a tasting menu) does really appeal to me.

    I am so very glad that you and DH got to experience this.

I don't mind a jump on the scale if I have eaten something that caused it, but extremely disheartened when it happens when I have been super "good". Ribs (feast) usually give me a 3lb gain, and I am okay with that. As some of you know I went from eating them once per week (200 pounds) to once per month, to once per 3 months. I haven't had them yet during this 100โ€ฆyet. Only 26 days left in this 100.

    Thoughts at the start of this round:

    Approximately this time last year (Challenge #15) I began to slowly gain weight throughout the rest of my winter and well into my Spring. I am still battling some of those pounds as we start this new challenge. This is a new opportunity to prove to myself and my family that I AM serious about getting healthier. I know I have bad eating disorders that bring about horrible eating habits. I also battle cravings because I havenโ€™t gotten away from sugar or chocolate long enough to stop the cravings. I have such a long way to go and only a sketchy road to get there but Iโ€™ll never give up on myself or lose faith in my strength or my resolve. Iโ€™ll admit that Iโ€™m not super confident that I will ever be in the 140โ€™s again (my ultimate goal), but I AM 100% confident that I will shed these 190โ€™s like a bad dream and NEVER weigh this much again. I donโ€™t know when this will happen exactly. But I do know that it will. Thanks for sharing my journey and letting me travel with you on yours.

Will get in any necessary shopping while away too since the prices and offerings in a city are much better than our one rural grocery store at home. I have my horror stories about the dentist that I wonโ€™t elaborate on. Without going into details, letโ€™s just say that Dr. prescribes me a โ€œchill pillโ€ specifically for the dentist visits. The script is for like 6 pills in the bottom of the bottle and renewd once per year. I usually take it, even for a cleaning. Dental trauma is very hard to overcome especially if it goes all the way back to childhood, and then some! Happy hump day everyone!

    @ deepwoodsladyย I, too, take a โ€œchill pillโ€ prescribed by my Dr. for all dental work except for cleaning. My anxiety at the dentist is extreme.

    Day 72โ€”04/16โ€”146.0 Itโ€™s been a hectic past 3 days while my husband was in the hospital for surgery. Nothing life-threatening but a major surgery, nonetheless. Eating has been mostly fast food. I need a reset.

    Day 73โ€”04/17โ€”144.7 Glad to see this number on the scale but I know in my heart of hearts it should be higher with how my diet has been for the past 5 days. My scale likes to play mind games.
