Unsurprisingly I’m quite tired today, fortunately it wasn’t a run day and I hadn’t booked Pilates either. Walked to our local cafe for a coffee with my husband - a 3k round trip - and did some final titivation on my lawn before I oversow tomorrow (rain in the forecast).
I’m planning 10k tomorrow.

Morning all
Got in 5.65M at 10'34
@daria0919 haha love that you love that!
@John772016 that order sounds a lot like lunch! Ordering off the big boy menu not the one that has eggs and pancakes on it!
Nope. No. Getting sucked into this. (Again!) Lol
@ContraryMaryMary I had to Google that word. Not going to lie.

My question for the day
How many times and how many profiles will "robertjones" use to try to friend me. I think this goes back at least 7 or 8 years at this point. 😂😏😳🙃

May Running:
May 3 - 4km (Country run!)
May Goal - 100km, 96km to go
I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5 -
Wow @kgirlhart ! You have made amazing progress in 8 year!
You deserve a rest day @ContraryMaryMary . Your lawn will be the envy of the neighborhood.
Great run @tarun_yadavA .
Hahaha @SummerSkier . He must REALLY want to be your friend.
@angf0679 Questions to ponder (not necessarily answer here unless you want to.) What exactly is keeping you from getting out to run? Be specific. What changes can you make to remove those roadblocks? (one at a time) Try to find time for at least a 5 min walk each day and you may find that you can extend that to a wun/run without a lot of extra effort. What motivates you? Can you give yourself a reward for each time you run? I used to keep track and "put" a certain amount of money into a fund to buy something I wanted but didn't need when I ran or lost a pound. That gave me something tangible to work toward. (If that was a rhetorical "I need help." never mind. 😂)

@quilteryoyo lol that wasn't a tan line, it was all dirt from trail dust…. 🤣
@martaindale love running between storms. Something magnetic about that
Tried to do a VO2 max run yesterday as per Garmin training plan. Nope, not even close. Just didn't have the legs. At first when you don't succeed……..😈
6 -
@quilteryoyo I come up with a different excuse every day. Monday I was lazy and didn't want to carry my book bag bag, running bag and laptop bad (had to bring it in as I was having work connection issues). Yesterday was because I didn't want to mess up my salon fresh hair. 😂 I didn't bring my running bag today as it was giving rain all day. Of course at the current moment it isn't. In order to run in the evening it would be after 9pm. I don't care to run that late as it takes time to unwind to get to sleep.

@SummerSkier sounds like you've got a stalker 😉 Be safe out there!

01.05 strength
03.05 walking, strolling 19km
04.05 walking, strolling 13km
06.05 1.7km 12min 7:08/km - benchmark run & strength
07.05 5.0km 37min 7:26/km6.68/81km - 11.6km behind
Yeah, of course… I do an 11 week running programme to run 5km in 7:30/km, and totally fail at the last run. Today, the first day of a new programme it just worked. 🤨🤐
Very nice run, felt fairly easy. And yeah, compared to the totally failed run I started slowly and increased pace very, very slowly from 1.3km in instead of running too fast from early on.5 -
Hi everyone!
I ran Monday, but just an easy 3.2km, because I was meeting a friend at the gym. I only felt slightly sore after the HM.
The fact that I don’t feel tired from the race and my daughter led me to sign up for a second, flatter HM race at the end of the month. Maybe this time I can PR (if it is not too hot!). If not, it will be a nice run! Why was it my daughter’s fault? Well, I was planning on signing up for the 5km, which I usually do at this particular run, and she said, “Mama, the half marathon is more your thing.” Ok, I can roll with that :).
Today I wanted to get out for a longer run. I ran 13km. 46.1/270km for May.
5 -
Happy to help expand your vocabulary @tarun_yadavA
@SummerSkier, I too get regular friend requests from ‘robertjones’. At least one every month or so 😂 The bots are unrelenting!
V02 max runs are HARD @WarmJellyfish. I haven’t done one in years because they really hurt.
We’ve all been there @angf0679 - sometimes you’ve just gotta simply lace up your shoes and get out the door. Stick with it.
Awesome @yirara - starting slow is the biggest and easiest hack in the book!
Sounds like your daughter knows best @Laurz9191
5 -
My experience with 1 yr olds were just with my 8 nieces & nephews, but I thought it was a full moon everyday @quilteryoyo.
Your 1st 5K 8 years ago to the mileage you do now is pretty impressive @kgirlhart!
Nice run @tarun_yadavA!
Maybe he's really, really, really forgetful @SummerSkier! 😶
My ankles (and shins) were looking like that today @WarmJellyfish, though not on trails, the few days of rain washed a lot of mud/dirt onto paths/sidewalks/streets & a couple of sunny days made that into dusty paths that I ran today. I often think of my sunscreen as just the primer layer and all the dust/dirt/mud is what actually protects me from the sun.
Congrats @yirara! You didn't fail on your last program run, you just increased the timeline.
Nice run @Laurz9191, your daughter knows, lol.May:
01/05 - 0km

6 -
11k for me today at a slowish pace. Back was tired as were the legs.
5 -
Hahaha. It looked like a tan line. @WarmJellyfish . You'll succeed on the next try.
@angf0679 Ok. If you still want help - "STOP MAKING EXCUSES!" LOL I have a hard time running late too, esp if I need to get up early the next day.
@yirara I'm glad your run today was a good one.
You're doing great @Laurz9191 . Glad you aren't requiring too much time to recover and get that PR. Haha that your daughter nudged you to sign up for the HM.
Hahaha @John772016 . Great running.
That's understandable after all of that yard work @ContraryMaryMary . You did great!

I went to the gym this morning. I walked a half mile each before and after my workout on their treadmill. The workout was arms and legs today. Max on bench press was 55 # for 4 reps. Max deadlift was 105 pounds for 10 reps, twice. Also did assisted pull ups, leg press, lateral raises, dumbbell curls, tricep press downs, divergent seated row, and leg curls.
After I got home, I did a driveway wun. I took it easy, hoping to not sweat a lot, but I did anyway. I did 2.25 miles at an avg pace of 15:02 min/mile.

Thanks @quilteryoyo and @john772016. If you had told me 8 years ago that I would still be running and running Half Marathons I would not have believed it. This morning, I ran 7.25 miles. It was an uneventful run, but it was just so nice out. We have been an unusually nice spring, and I have really been enjoying my runs lately.
We have had a couple of unexpected visitors. Monday night they crawled in through the crawl space under the house and got into a closet. I knew something was up because our dog was sniffing around like crazy in the back room. I thought it was just some cats outside or under the house, but when I went into the closet, I saw that the panel to access the water to the bathtub had been pushed open and saw these two little possums were taking a nap in a motorcycle helmet that was stored in the closet. Luckily, we've got them out and I think everything is secured so they can't come in again.
6 -
Congrats on your 8 years of running @kgirlhart!! Those little possums look adorable in the helmet. Look at those eyes….
3 -
@kgirlhart you and I started our running streaks the same time I think. I picked up C25K in mid 2017 after a hiatus due to a broken toe and laziness. Congrats! And I hope those babies did not chew up anything. Glad you found them but where was mom?
Yeah I get the same requests from that bot a lot. Oh well. delete is a click away.
I only did a 4 miler yesterday as I feel like I am still recovering from my cold. I am only really on day 7 and altho I think it's been not too severe I can still tell I am not 100. My fitbit is now hazing me that I am losing fitness… hmmm. maybe.
But my sleep is better and I am not getting quite so bad sinus headaches from lying down. a win.
As far as excuses to not workout or run. I think we all have that running commentary in our heads. It's just getting that first step and then the first qtr mile done.
@chris_in_cal I hope you are recovering well. I do not think I will be making the race in college station. sorry.
@quilteryoyo you continue to impress with your consistency at the gym I thought about how far you have come in just 2 years and it is really incredible how much stronger you are. I am choosing to work on my balance this month. Trying to hold the tree pose several times a day. With my eyes open. It's hard. My balance and my families balance has never been great and I noticed that sometimes at night when I get out of bed I have been a bit unsteady so I want to nip that in the bud. I know it's because I cannot stand on one leg with my eyes closed and so I am going to work up to tree pose with eyes open and then eventually closed. I hope. Part of it is posture also so I am focusing on both of those this month for physical improvement.

Sticky notes on my computer at work to RUN at lunch. It might not be very sunny, but it will be nice and warm. I WILL RUN TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7 -
Doing great @daria0919 .
Glad you are enjoying your runs this Spring @kgirlhart . Beautiful Iris and the possums are cute. Glad you got them out without incident. I worry when Tippy starts "tracking" something through the house. So far, I haven't found anything.
@SummerSkier You are doing great and I hope you are back to normal in a couple of days. I looked back and I tend to get a lot of friend request from ChrisJones and anthonyjones. Why is it always Jones? 😂 BTW, it has only been a little over a year since I started at the gym. I don't feel like I am very strong, but when I read in my journal what I did last year, I think, "Hey, you are improving!" Good luck with the balance. That's important, esp as we age.
Looking forward to reading out your lunch time run tonight @angf0679 .
Off to work. See you on the flip side. Fingers crossed the one year olds decide to "bring their listening ears" to daycare today. 🤣
Oh, we are having baked ziti for teacher appreciation today. Yum.

Lol @ the Mr Jones stalkers here.
(Love that tune from the 90s!)

5/3: 10 miles
5/4: 3.2 miles
5/5: 3 miles
5/6: 4.1 miles
5/8: 4 miles
I'm working from home this morning so I had a bit more time. It was nice to get my run in early. I definitely struggle with evening runs.
The winners of the cocodona 250 finished yesterday. The male winner set a new course record, I think by something around an hour and looked a little too fresh on only 15 mins of sleep over 58ish hours. The women's winner also won last year but beat her time last year by close to 8 hrs!! Crazy! She was 4th overall and right on the heels of 3rd. So impressive.
I probably won't watch it as closely now but the live stream continues on YouTube until the last runner finishes. I love that they stick around all week and make sure the DFL gets a good welcome. It's been super inspiring. I'm going to have to find more of these throughout the year. I've really enjoyed living vicariously through these amazing athletes.

Good morning! I too am WFH today so I was able to get out for a 5 mile run. Didn't get home until 1:00 am and up at 6:30 but the fresh air felt good. I've been in east Texas for business the last couple of days so I know what you Texans mean about Tuesday's storms. The thunder, lightening and wind were rough! Luckily our plane had landed before it hit there but I had to get out and drive in it all afternoon for various appointments.
3 -
I'm impressed with how you typed your runs here, it's good looking formatting. I'm still trying to figure out good formatting and editing on this new bulletin board software we have here.

May Running:
May 3 - 4km (Country run!)
May 4 - 4kmTotal for May - 8km
May Goal - 100km, 92km to goI wrote a song on my run to a familiar tune. Feel free to adjust it to where you live
Old HRM had some roads E-I-E-I-O
And on these roads they had some repairs E-I-E-I-O
With some roads work here, and some road work there, here some road work, there some road work EVERYWHERE some road work,
Old HRM had some roads E-I-E-I-O
I did find some pretty tulipsAnd like these geese, I am ready for nap time. I had no energy on that run so it was a struggle to keep going or do any faster pace

Well yesterday's "run" was all wobbly kneed thanks to the day's before all out attempt. Cut it short. Well I tried. Developing my time on feet readiness 🙄😜 Tonight will be a "slower" trail hike.
@ContraryMaryMary and so I've discovered. Never really attempted a VO2 max run before. Back in the day there were no HR monitors so it was all time based brackets and one could slack then…😏
@John772016 you might be on to something with the dirt cover….. maybe I should roll in that stuff before running 🤣
@daria0919 nice distances! You're back at it
@kgirlhart the possums are cute! I have a thing for small mammals. They would have become trapped with me…..😜 We don't have those here. Not even racoons. More likely to have skunks hiding somewhere.
@SummerSkier maybe you should respond and tell a story of a nigerian prince and ask for their bank account info…..
@quilteryoyo good luck with 1 year olds…..
@angf0679 What gets me out the door and running is a goal. I have 2. One is to drop about 30lbs. The other is a stupid damn trail race I can't get out of my head, if I finish it it will be DFL but I don't care.
@martaindale It's so fascinating and motivating to see these ultra folks complete their races, especially races that cheer on DFL.

May Goal: 140 miles
5/1: 7.15 miles
5/2: 6.25 miles
5/4: 13.21 miles
5/5: 5.20 miles
5/6: 6.25 miles
5/7: 7.25 miles
5/8: 4.55 miles49.86/140 miles completed for May
I got out early for a 4.5-mile tempo run. It was perfect running weather again this morning. It as a good run, but I have been waiting on a phone call all day, and I am feeling very stressed out. On a positive note, I haven't seen any more signs of the possums. I do have everything sealed up tight now, and I put out the animal trap and haven't caught them, so I am hoping they have moved on. No signs of the mama.
Maybe if I go run the vacuum the phone will finally ring.
3 -
Great work @quilteryoyo, you're consistency is impressive!
Nice little napping possums! Your Iris photo @kgirlhart reminded me of my Mom's Iris plants she had in our backyard growing up. Massive plants with beautiful purple flowers lining one side of my parents large lot. Still my favourite flower to see to this day. Good luck with the phone call!
Nice run @daria0919!
Nice run @tarun_yadavA!
Nice run @martaindale! I need to look up the Cocodona 250 finish, that sounds interesting.
Home at 1a.m. & out at 6:30 a.m. sounds like a punishment @Teresa502 but glad you enjoyed your 5 miler.
@angf0679 I'm not motivated, I'm stubborn. As @WarmJellyfish mentioned, a goal is a great way to get out the door. I head out because I told myself I would do 'something'. I'm usually motivated after about 2/3rds of the way.
May:
01/05 - 0km
02/05 - 11.31km / 7.03 miles
03/05 - 0km
04/05 - 11.67km / 7.25 miles
05/05 - 0km
06/05 - 6.47km / 4.02 miles Treadmill
07/05 - 13.29km / 8.26 miles
08/05 - 5.09km / 3.16 miles Treadmill
Total = 37.83km / 30.02 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)I didn't feel much like going outside this morning in the cool, overcast, windy weather, so hit the treadmill. The temperature picked up a bit by the time I went to pick up my race bib for my 10K race on Sunday. Nice enough that I decided to walk the 7.5km home.
This spring run has been one of my favourite runs the last 3 years, as it's mostly flat(woohoo!) and on Mother's Day, so nice to see all the Mum's & Dad's out running with the kids in the strollers (they're usually having a nap).
This year is the run's 25th anniversary, each year, raising money to send kids to camp who have been victims of cancer.6 -
Nice running @tarun_yadavA .
@martaindale Great running. I can't even imagine being in good enough shape to attempt 250 miles! They are all amazing in my book! I'm glad they stick around and give every finisher the same experience. They deserve it!
I'm glad you got to TX before those storms hit @Teresa502 . Great job getting out for an early morning run when you got home so late last night.
You got out there and did it @angf0679 ! Congratulations! Love the tulips and geese pictures. As for road construction - I've been having to navigate detours in my head for the last week to get to work. The main road is closed and the detour they are sending people to is a nightmare. LOL
You're doing great @WarmJellyfish . Thanks for the well wishes. Turns out, I was in the 2 year old class today and they were a bit more chilled. LOL
Hahaha @kgirlhart . I hope vacuuming made the phone ring and I hope it was good news! You're doing great with your running. Glad the critters are gone.
Thanks @John772016 . Nice run this morning. Good luck with your 10K on Sunday. That sounds like a great race for a great cause!
