No running today.
Mom and I went to a wonderful Mother's Day luncheon at a friend's church. The men of the church cooked and served the women a 7 course meal that would have made Gordon Ramsey proud or maybe jealous.
After the meal, mom and I bought garden supplies because our neighbor was getting mom's garden ready to plant when we left this morning. And, when we got home, we found that another neighbor had come and mowed mom's lawn while we were gone. We have the best neighbors!
I was home for an hour, during which I walked the 1.1 miles to keep the streak going and found/practiced piano music for church tomorrow. I then went to mom's and we planted garden for 3 hours… 100 sweet potato plants, tomatoes, bell pepper, zucchini, cabbage, and 4 rows of corn. She still has to set out green and October beans and more tomatoes and some okra when she gets them.
It was a great day, but we are both beat. LOL
(Really wish I could have put the pictures in a spoiler.)

into the hills first thing this morning for a Mother’s Day trail run with a couple of friends. Beautiful day out. Then home and out for brunch with the in-laws.

@daria0919
- A couple of friends and I signed up for the Richmond HM in November! I hope you will be around and we can have a meet-up.
That’s great @Teresa502!! I’m planning on doing the 8K and would enjoy a meetup with you and your friends!
Hubby and I have been insanely busy these last few days. I’m behind a bit on my miles for the month, but things should slow down after today.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!7 -

Great, that is a nice area. I visited my Uncle and Aunt in Williamsburg, VA a couple of years ago and really liked all the woods and scenery.

Was sick yesterday and still went out to do something. Today I tried to run, and while I feel good again running didn't work. My leg muscles got tight immediately and never recovered. Oh well… obviously, I started running fast too quickly as well, thus that played a role here.

I headed home from my dad's yesterday. He did well following the surgery and didn't have much pain the next day. I decided not to deal with the muddy wet trail and stopped by daingerfield State Park to do my run. There are 2 main trails, 1 with some decent elevation to a pretty overlook spot and 1 around a small lake. Ended up being shorter than planned but my legs were tired so I just took 1 loop.
Today I did my neighborhood trail for recovery miles. Tacked on 1 extra because I cut yesterday's short, and why not? It was a beautiful day, low humidity with some breeze.
We are heading out for an early dinner for mother's day later today.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms on the thread💐!
Great run @kgirlhart!
Nice to see you getting out again @chris_in_cal, hope you're feeling well?
It was a bit chilly to start @quilteryoyo but I was well layered. Debated on the running gloves as I was going out the door, glad I grabbed them as I kept them on for the first 5km. That Mother's day lunch looks absolutely wonderful!
I thought I was looking at a painting @ContraryMaryMary, what a beautiful picture!
Nice run @tarun_yadavA, not too worry, other hangover opportunities are always coming 😀
Nice run @Mari33a! Protect the nose!
Some days just don't work @yirara, give yourself the grace to feel better.
Nice runs @martaindale & enjoy dinner! My 10K race was today, details in the spoiler for those who may be interested.

02/05 - 11.31km / 7.03 miles
03/05 - 0km
04/05 - 11.67km / 7.25 miles

09/05 - 0km - Stationary bike ride for 25kms
10/05 - 7.52km / 4.67 miles
11/05 - 10.28km / 6.39 miles
Total = 55.63km / 41.08 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)Problem getting to the race this morning as my bus was 40 minutes late!! So, started the race with a corral an hour later than I was scheduled. Not a big deal, but my first 2kms were a bit slower than planned. Wasn't expecting to hit a new PR today, so I just relaxed & enjoyed the run.
Weather was pretty good (about 4 C and not a cloud in the sky), & the wind was at my back for a long portion of the run (also that part was mostly downhill, so double bonus 👍️).
Finished just over 53 mins - in the top 25% of the overall 20,000+ participants, top 19% in my age category(that being - old guy category); definitely not my best, but not my worst either!
Three of the best parts:
1) Raising money to send kids with cancer to camp; it's why I originally signed up few years ago, not even knowing the 1st time I did, if I'd be able to run a 10K.
2) Waving at (& making faces at) the kids in the jogging strollers as their Mom's (and some Dad's) were running with them through the race. Only one kid started crying at me, which I'm pretty sure is my lowest count yet (a new PR?). Normally I have to go to church to make faces at kids I don't know😀
3) Hitting one of the top of the crests in the race & looking down Yonge street at several thousand runners stretching off as far as the eye can see. It is so inspiring.7 -

Beautiful place for a run @ContraryMaryMary .
@tarun_yadavA Nice run. Glad you overate more than you over indulged. 😉 The food was really delicious. I thought of you when I was eating it. I don't recall the desert tasting like almonds, but then again, I really like almonds so just might not have noticed. That strawberry lemon sauce was to die for though.
Nice running @Mari33a . I hate it when I forget to put sunscreen on my nose. It turns bright red too.
@yirara Sorry it was so hard for you. You did great to get it done.
@martaindale I'm glad your dad got through his surgery well. Nice running.
Thanks @John772016 . Sounds like you had an amazing race!
Nice running tribute to your mom @angf0679 . Hugs to you.
@WarmJellyfish That looks like a great trail for a run. What kind of bird is that?
Sounds like a great Mother's Day @daria0919 .
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers.
I did my normal rest day walk today (1.25 miles on the driveway), even though the last two days have basically been rest days too. I'm working 4 days next week, so I'm trying to figure out how to get my runs in, esp since two of those days are 8 hours. I haven't done that in a long time. If it isn't raining, I'll try to run during my break, so they will be shorter runs than "normal." I'll just do my best and do what I can and NOT stress about it.

I hope you who are mothers had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

I am cutting myself off from posting myself anymore on this thread. I am trying to cut down on my social media usage and have replaced it with this as I keep checking for new posts on here way to much.

Sounds like a plan. A suggestion, as you were writing about motivation, perhaps you can trying making checking here on this thread a treat, you only come on here to check once you have a run you did that you are going to post here. Once you have posted your run, then you can read and comment on the rest. Just a suggestion. Whatever you end up trying I hope it serves you well. Good luck.

Didy usual 3 miles before work today. I also used this run to do some faster intervals as it is probably the last nice morning we will have. It was 60ish this morning! So out of season but temps are climbing this week so I doubt we'll see temps like that until fall.

I hope all of you moms had a great Mother's Day. Mine was really good. My four sisters and I took our mom out for dinner on Saturday. We had a great time. The restaurant we went to was having live music. I was afraid it would be too loud to hear each other talking, but it was fine, and Mom really enjoyed it. My husband had told me earlier in the week that he was taking me to lunch on Sunday, and I should probably do my long run on Saturday. I asked if the kids were meeting us and he said no. I was hoping they might be going to surprise me, but they called me on Saturday evening. My son had gone to my daughter's house, so they did a video call. I was really glad that they did, and I didn't spend Sunday morning hoping they would show up only to be disappointed. So, when we got to the restaurant on Sunday, I was really surprised when they showed up. It was a great day. I took it as a complete rest day too. I didn't go for a run, or a walk or even do yoga.
Today I was back to running. I ran a 7-mile tempo run. I didn't have it set up as a workout, I just ran the first mile as a warm-up and the last mile as a cool-down and ran the five miles in the middle at a faster pace. I ran the first 10K of the run in 1:00:46. That is a pretty speedy 10K for me especially since it wasn't a race.
Congrats on your race @John772016 . I can't imagine running a race with that many people.
That menu looks awesome @quilteryoyo .
I love the pictures @ContraryMaryMary and @WarmJellyfish . I love seeing all of the beautiful places everyone runs.
I'm glad your dad is doing well @martaindale.

8k today around the estuary, with a quick stop at the garden centre on the drive here to get some more plants!

We are going to miss you @angf0679 . I do understand about spending too much time on line. I think it happens to all of us sometimes. Wishing you well with your running goals and life in general.
You're doing great @daria0919 . How is your ankle feeling? (It is your ankle that's giving you issues, isn't it?)
Thanks for the info @WarmJellyfish . Pretty cool looking bird.
Nice run @martaindale . I hope the temps don't heat up too fast.
What a great Mother's Day surprise @martaindale . They did it up right. Nice looking family. Great run today.
@ContraryMaryMary Nice running. Your yard really is going to be the envy of your neighborhood.

I worked from 7:30-4:30 today in the two year old class. Considering it's a full moon, it was pretty easy. It didn't hurt that there were only 5 kids there for two teachers today. There are 9 on the role.
I took clothes to exercise during my break, but wound up making phone calls and trying to nap while waiting for return calls….which never came, of course.
When I got home, it was raining, so I did a short treadmill session. The run was a run walk for 2/1 min at 4.5-5.0/4.0 mph and then ended with about 5 min at 5.1 mph. Avg pace was 12:59 min/mile. Avg HR was 126 with a max of 154 bpm.
