@angf0679 Sorry to see you go, I have enjoyed reading your posts. Not sure if you even read this. But I totally get the "too much social media" black hole. If I'm not careful, I fall into that trap way too much myself.

Yesterday was very sedentary, with church, car time 3 hours & visiting with family at Mom & Dad's for Mother's Day (U.S.). We had total of 16 including great nephew who's walking quite well now (16 mos). We enjoyed sitting outside on a beautiful spring day and catching up with each other. Sister made rhubarb bars and rhubarb cookies (I guess they have lots of rhubarb LOL) and I brought glazed lemon cookies. No bday cake for youngest brother but I don't think he minded. I had one piece of each, and left cookies there… well, ok, I brought 2 home but they're still in container.

    JFT M 5/12 ~ Gorgeous day!

Yesterday was stressful and started out poorly. Ended up teaching spin class and brother-in-law made dinner for the family. FIL will have surgery tomorrow and between myself my niece, Tim and his 2 siblings I think we have a schedule figured out for staying with his dad and his mom. Not sure if Tim will travel with me this weekend for Sierra's graduation and the MAC championships for rowing. He will go to the pinning ceremony on Friday, just not sure about Sat - Mon.

I may try to go to spin again this evening. It really is a good stress relief and it's good for me physically. Yesterday's class was tough, but my weight was down today. Still above my low from last month, but better than it has been.

Just a little update on my dad. He got his second opinion and its not as bad as the first doctor thought. He needs to see an interventional cardiologist for one more test but its been a relief to know he doesn't need open heart surgery.

    JFT

Get on walking pad twice for atleast a couple of 20 minute sessions.

Take the dog for a walk

Keep working on Sept trip planning (Iceland!)

    Water

    Stay at 1600 calories

Strength workout ( I didn't get it done like I hoped last night and chose to weed a couple of the yard shrubs instead)

I literally had no appetite after my workout as I got nauseated after. My husband is a psycho and thinks that is a good thing because " it means you pushed yourself " and that intensity triggers grehlin , aka the hunger hormone. I definitely wasn't hungry but choked down two eggs just to hit my protein goals. I still didn't quite get there .

@HappyDonkey75 - So glad to hear your dad got better news from the second doctor. I'm hoping that his treatment goes smoothly and successfully.

@pridesabtch - I hope all goes well with your father-in-law's surgery and that both you and your husband find joy in Sierra's accomplishments.

thank you @beachwalker99 - its a bit of a relief and very glad he didn't choose to continue with the original doctor. My sister thankfully is there to help with all this as she is an RN and knows how to navigate all the complicated things .

    JFT

    Cardio

two 20 minute sessions on walking pad during work meetings

    Water

1600 calorie goal (which is 100 calories below what I have been tracking to)

Manage work stress with short breaks when possible and get out in the sun with the dogs for mental reset

120 grams protein goal , or better

    start making weekend grocery list

Figure out what to make for dinner with chicken breasts (probably end up being salad and grilled chicken again to be honest)

Go for a hike tonight with friend after work

I taught my last class on Monday and had my cardiac procedure yesterday. Both went well, although I woke up with a wicked sore throat from the TEE. My HR is back to a normal rhythm, so I'm hoping to get back to a normal energy level and my regular activities in a few days. I spent much of yesterday sleeping off the effects of anesthesia. Today, I have a dental procedure in the morning and will spend the rest of this rainy day working on grading final papers. Then hopefully I'll be back to setting daily goals.

    • Bed by 11:00pm ✔️

Time got away from me after work. Didn't get home until 5:45pm which didn't leave time to get to the gym or to my MIL's. Tim and I went out to dinner and played music bingo. It was nice to have a normal evening.

Totally overslept this morning so no gym time today. I was lucky my daughter was home or I would have been late for work. She got up and cared for the dogs and fed them. I normally don't use an alarm, but I guess I needed one today. Life has been heavy and it is waying on me more than I realized.

Waiting to hear how my FIL's surgery went. I suppose that will dictate our evening. It is typically trivia on Wednesday's, but family comes first. It all depends on timing.

I don't know if I'm doing this right, but I find it really overwhelming to try to log every day. I'm telling myself that even if I can keep to a more reasonable calorie amount on most days, that's a big step in the right direction.

So many of us dealing with cardiac issues either with ourselves or with family. Praying for everyone's health and recovery.

@pridesabtch glad to hear your father in law's surgery went well . My dad as you know has similar cardiac issues going on but for now he's doing ok but will need a procedure most ilkely.

@beachwalker99 so happy to hear the procedure went well and you can focus on recuperating. My mom had afib and had a number of cardiac procedures over the years . Its always so scary . She now has a pacemaker and was able to get off blood thinners .

@ctomas07 logging every day is a drag and I have struggled with it as well but I had to change my thinking about it. Gaining and losing the same 15-20 lbs over the last 5 years is way more of a drag and anxiety ridden for me . I know 100% I do better when I track. I have found its easier if I generally eat the same things over the course of the week for breakfast/lunch if I can and then tracking isn't so hard. I also

Its been rainy cool and wet here. It smells so nice outside and is so lush and green. I really do love spring time rain , especially after its been a bit dry and dusty. Unfortunately yesterday's hike didn't happen due to weather so I was stuck with the treadmill and used my weighted vest.

    JFT
    Water
    Protein 120 g
Maybe weed another shrub during lunch in the back yard and add fertilizer.(been weeding little by little)
    Lower body strength day
    hit 1600 calories

I have decreased my calories by 100 from what I had been targeting previously to see if the stall would shake loose. I am not sure what is happening but I have lost 4 lbs according to the scale in 4 days. I'm cautiously optimistic.

    JFT Wednesday

    • Up at 4:30am / gym @ 5:00am ❌ Nope

Yesterday was ok, actually got a lot more done than planned. Got an oil change, grocery shopped for mom and went to the pet store before trivia. Stayed up later than planned just talking to hubby about life and such. Did not get up and go to the gym this morning and I will be traveling for the next 4 days, so I'll have to be more diligent about my intake. Of course meals will be out so the great guess-timation game will be in full swing. We'll see how next weeks weigh-in goes.

Just went to a meeting where I feel I was totally ambushed. They asked me to attend last moment, and luckily I brought my laptop because I had to present data. This data was information I've been tracking, but wasn't meant for sharing in a group setting. It was all about our environmental footprint and abatement. It's a touchy subject, but luckily the audience was all internal. Even though it was uncomfortable it could have been worse.

I have a couple more things to do at work this morning, then I'll go to my MIL to relieve my SIL so she can go home. I think my shift is 11:00 - 5:00pm then my other SIL will show up. I think I've said it before, but I'm not really a good care taker. I get awkward and nervous. I think my daughter is going to go with me so it will feel more like a visit.

Hubby will drop groceries off to my mom on his way to see his dad at the hospital.

Leaving early (5:30am) tomorrow for Sierra's graduation stuff so I had better pack and shower tonight.

Favorite day of the week - FRIDAY

    JFT

Stretch and walk- very sore from yesterdays leg /glute workout

Knee is irritated by the workout some- likely due to box steps and some of the heavier weighted squats from yesterday. Meloxicam on board

    Water water water

Get ready for a busy weekend

My parents leave today to head North to be with us for the summer. Dad will be getting seen by interventional cardiologist here , and likely a procedure. The doctors in AZ gave him alot of run around. I am still worried about them traveling but he feels fine and the second opinion doctor thought he was safe to travel. I will have to get up the apartment this weekend and get the bed made so its ready to go when they arrive.

    Schedule dogs bath

Finish weeding and fertiizing backyard shrubs and front yard trees/shrubs (will be a weekend project)to get the rest

Going to have to do a recap . yesterday was so busy..

I got my workout in early and I might have over done it.. I felt really good so ended up doing an interval workout first on the treadmill and then did my upper body strength day .. which was also a "move up in weights" day.. I am now able to use 25 lb dumbbells for bench press/chest press and single arm rows and 15 lbs for chest flys. I was pretty much toast by the end of my workout and today I am VERY VERY Sore (and the scale is up as a result but about 1 lb is all so that's expected)

We had to get the dogs in to the DIY dog bathing place and get both of the stinking beasts cleaned up. That took a couple of hours to get both dogs shampooed, brushed and dried. Occasionally I splurge and have the little dog groomed at the local chain pet store but they are booked for two weeks. And it needed doing.. I truly dread the chore with the bigger dog.. She has so much undercoat that comes out its like it snowing hair when we run the blower on her. Plus it takes two of us to groom her because she can't stay standing so one of us has to hold her up while the other does the scrubbing..But it's done .. and they smell much better now..:)

The afternoon was dedicated to housework and yardwork until my parents finally arrived . they will be here for the summer now . This time they are not staying with us like last year but will be nearby , just a short drive down the road. I brought them some dinner and we visited for a bit.
