Two things:
-I've been writing down what I eat on a piece of paper instead of weighing my food and tracking it in the app, because I was finding it too intimidating and time consuming. Now I want to weigh my food as well. I wasn't tracking most days, but now I find just writing down everything much easier than uploading my food diary to the site… a written record is better than no record right? I've been making notes of how I could do my day better as well.
-I made a sugarfree brownie recipe the other day and it was delicious. I realised I could go online and find 20 low calorie recipes for treats, snacks, breakfasts, lunches and dinners and be closer to staying within my calorie goals. Unfortunately I'm a bit slow, most people would have done that sooner.

A third thing…
I struggle with grazing all day and eating food that is too calorie dense. I realised I could have half as much of things like sandwiches, then have a portion of two of fruit and veges to bring the calorie level down significantly. Hopefully that will be enough to bring my weight down because I've been at a plateau for like six months.

Well done on being normal!
I wish the book were longer! I feel like some things could have been expanded on and would have liked more examples, and more complete examples. It felt broken into pieces without really showing what a full habit could look like. It looks like they've taken a lot of the online information down as well. I guess the books been out for like seven years.

At least.....I bought the book several years ago. I've read another equally as good. The Kaizen Method. I can't remember who wrote it. He explains the Japanese habit forming method....The Kaizen....and it's based on building habits beginning with small steps. Eventually you rewire your brain so gradually the habits just take over. Habits are personal so it may be why you feel he didn't expand enough. Just focus on one....take tiny steps...and when it has become your personality add another. Google The Kaizen Method....that may help you too. 😊

Thanks, sounds intriguing. I will have to look it up.

Good to know about subtracting 2/3 pounds for clothing/shoes.

Subtracting 1-1.5 kg for clothes is normal. Weigh yourself consistently for accuracy. Hitting “normal” after 12 years is a win. Atomic Habits nails it: small changes stick.

@anxietyfairy A personal example Probably 3 years ago I used to order the L deli salad size for lunch from my grocery store. Just automatic. One day I decided to switch to M. Lol I knew the lady at the deli counter had my order memorized when after about 2 weeks of this, I ordered the M and without thinking she gave me a L! She moved on quickly and the L seemed too much, I couldn't finish it. After several months, I switched to a S. I was ordering a S for at least a year. Two weeks ago, they were out of S containers so I took an XS. Once I ate it, I forgot it was an xs! 😆 I mostly stay away from deli salads now....a rare lunch....but looking at the sizes on display, I'm shocked 😲 I ate a large in one sitting, even the M seems huge. Holy cow!! Literally!! And thru small regular changes like that I went from Obese to Normal weight and lost over 50 pounds in almost 3 years. 😇

Because my dresses are so much shorter now. 😉

NSV: My most recent labs showed my thyroid antibodies went down from over 100 to normal range under 34.. That is a direct result of my gluten free dairy free diet that I have been working sooooo hard on to adhere to 🥹 years and years I never seen those numbers in normal range. I definitely teared up in the doctors office. Chronic disease is exhausting. Having that small win really nudges me to keep going no matter how hard it gets.

My best NSV happened last year but I still like telling people about it. I have diabetes and have so for 20 plus years. My type two diabetes was so out of control that I was on two different types of insulin which cost me 75 bucks per vial. I lost 60 pounds and no more insulin! Unfortunately I have gained back 25 pounds and could use some words of encouragement. I am worried about having to restart the insulin. I know what I need to do it’s a matter of actually doing it! How do you get yourself motivated? Have you been able to stop insulin? I know you can’t if your type one. I’m not ready to give up!

could you maybe encourage yourself by setting up a chart with what you could do with that $75 a pop? A family vacation? A donation to a cause you love?
Have you checked out the maintenance board?
THE best advice I ever got here was “treat maintenance like you still have ten pounds to lose.” I took that to heart.I am never, ever going to get fat again. I’ve told myself that over and over until it’s my mantra. Put it in your head and believe it. Whatever it takes.
No insulin, but my lord, GERD disappearing was like hallelujah, hallelujah! If I get careless and overeat, it flares to remind me it’s still nipping at my heels.

My advice is similar to @springerling62 I treat maintenance like Im still "heavy" not out of vanity but to keep me in check. Im very careful to not pass Normal weight and if I were to become Minimally Overweight or BMI of 25 I would treat it as Overweight. In my experience there is a danger in losing a lot of weight too quickly....the mind needs time to adjust and the body needs time to adjust to its new setpoint. For example, I would give myself at least 8 months to lose 25 pounds....3 lbs a month. All is not lost! You can start your day with a walk to kick start your metabolism. Drink 2litres of water a day to start. If you feel really heavy do yoga for exercise it keeps your body skin tight. Don't panic!! Cut out 200 to 300 calories a day to start. Little steps take the weight OFF as little steps (no water, no exercise, eating a bit more) put the weight ON! YOU CAN EASILY LOSE THESE 25 POUNDS IN ONE YEAR AND ALLOW YOUR MIND AND BODY TO ADJUST SO IT NEVER COMES BACK. I also love the idea of saving the 75 dollars for a special weekend getaway! Every time you do something positive immediately save a dollar or two in a piggy bank until the 25 pounds are gone!!! 🙂

I just received pants I bought online and thought, oh, these are going to be too small. Nope, a lovely fit. Now I'm worried they'll be too big in the spring if I keep losing at the current rate. They were dirt cheap/end of season and they are just perfect.

I’ve been doing the same front-desk volunteer position for about fourteen years (😱) or so.
It can get a bit boring on slow days, and I’m a boredom eater.
The first nine years, I brought a whole unopened pound sack of M&Ms, a bag of Geneva cookies, a large sandwich or dish of spaghetti or lasagna, and would partake of Cokes the whole time I was there. I’d come home with my Jethro sack empty.
I just packed my lunch for my shift and realized, whoaaaa, I’ve changed.
Sliced grilled lean steak, tomato and lettuce wrap, a bag of fresh cherries, an apple, and a Nugo bar. My water bottle is ready, and on the console table downstairs. Chances are, some of this will come home with me, uneaten, too.
By the way, the new Sugar Bee apple variety are divine. Wildly sweet and crispy. I thought Honeycrisp was the ultimate, but the Sugar Bee put them to shame. And very small. I’m figuring about 50 calories net by the time I dispose of the core.
