August Goal: 165 miles
8/1: 6.26 miles
6.26/165 completed for August
Thanks for setting us up @AlphaHowls !
I am going to set my goal at 165 miles for August. I think I can get 175, but 165 leaves some room for unexpected weather, illness or travel.
Today is a rest day, but I did run 6.25 miles yesterday. It was an OK run, but the weather was not as pleasant as the last couple of days have been.
Congratulations on your longest run ever @Zaxa2021 !
@quilteryoyo I have a card for your mom. I was planning to mail it this week.
Welcome @gamommy2 & @lucysclark!

01.08 strength
02.08 5km 38min 7:41/km - warm-up, 1000, 600, 500, 500m fast5.0/81km - 0.2km behind
Good start of the month. Yesterday I screwed up with deadlifts and accidentally loaded too much weights on the bar, and still managed. Today I ran faster, long-ish intervals. Worked quite well.

Here we are @swenson19d @showjumper @TheBugaloos @rancat97 @Melobee63 for the August Running Challenge .
It is the beautiful thing about this thread, like Groundhog's Day, last month's runs are a memory and we all get to start again fresh in the new month's challenge.
I hope to see you here for August.

I sure would like to return to running, but I don't think that's going to happen. Least not with any expectations beyond exercise. I have fibromyalgia, and my legs can get suddenly stiff and simply stop working. It is stupid. Of course, perhaps cycling or swimming would be better. Or maybe just walking short distances.
TL:DR I miss running
Has @HonuNui checked in? Hoping the tsunami wasn't a big deal and they are alright.

Hello All! I hope you’re all doing well! I’ve been having a hard time with my runs because of the weather. In the Midwest, the humidity has been insane! I’m so not a summer runner! A few days here the heat index had us over 100-degrees 🥵. So, I’m trying to get motivated with my training for my race in November and it’s really been hard. Even walking in these temperatures has been a challenge. Thank goodness we have a few cooler days. Planning on getting outside tomorrow for 4 miles. Wish me luck 🍀

Nice runs everyone:
@ContraryMaryMary (too cold for me! I'm looking for my gloves when the temp dips below 9⁰ C 🥶),
@SummerSkier (when your thighs/hips complain about you to other people, that's when you have to worry😁),
@Laurz9191 (I've run around/thru Central Park several times….on my treadmill! Would love to try it one day in person),
@tarun_yadavA Enjoy the cricket! (& associated food/beverage carnage),
@Zaxa2021 (Congrats on the longest run to date, that's awesome!👏),
@kgirlhart (Great start to August!),
@yirara (& congrats on the surprise weightlift success!)
The 'a little cooler' made me chuckle @quilteryoyo, great start to August!
Good luck☘️ & hope you have more agreeable temps today @steviebee888!Aug:
01/08 - 13.34km / 8.29 miles
02/08 - 6.13km / 3.81 miles
Total = 19.47km / 12.10 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)I was initially planning a much longer run today, through some paved & unpaved ravine paths, but I just wasn't feeling it….not sure why, just felt off.
Decided I'd shoot for 5K, so changed the route I'd planned to run and called it a day.
Since I cut the distance, I did decide to up the pace a bit instead.
Ended up at just over 6km at 8'37 pace. Respectable?.
My brain → 'could've done better on both distance & pace!'
Physically, I felt really spent…. I shouldn't have felt like that, it wasn't that hard.
Guess I needed an easier run today, which I did.
Not sure what's up with my brain being really hard on me for doing it?!4 -
I was looking for a little cooler here also. I think that means 95 instead of 100? It was barely under 80 this morning and pretty stifling but I managed to crank out a 7 miler…. 🥳🥳🥳 Party time! I really am never sure what the run will be when I start and was a bit surprised as I only thought I would do 5K but then I just kept going.
@Zaxa2021 that is HUGE mileage. Congrats!!!!!!

Did a 15k wun this morning. Slowly but surely.
@quilteryoyo on Garmin Connect app or web, go to Performance → Training Readiness & Health → HRV status

I forgot to tell you thanks for sending the card @tarun_yadavA . Mom will love it!
You should be proud of yourself @Zaxa2021 ! Congratulations!
Thanks @kgirlhart ! You did great with your run yesterday.
Great improvements @yirara , even if they were accidental. 😉
I'm sorry you can't run anymore @swenson19d . You can still come here and support and post your walks! I do lots of walking. @HonuNui hasn't checked in in a really long time. I do hope she is okay.
Good luck @steviebee888 . Humidity is so hard to run in. You can do it.
Thanks @John772016 . You did great with that pace. I do the same thing, esp. after a race. During the race I'm dying, or think I am, but afterwards my brain says "You could have done better. You really didn't feel that bad. Why did you walk so much? You could've started that finish line sprint a lot sooner." I guess we are just hard on ourselves after the fact.
Great run @SummerSkier ! At least my "little bit cooler" is a lot cooler than yours. 😉 Our high was only 80F (27C) today, but it was raining.
@WarmJellyfish My Garmin Connect App doesn't have those categories. I have Performance Status and Training Status, but not training readiness. Humm.

It took a couple of weeks with my new Garmin, until it reported HRV status.

1 Aug - Walked 2.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway wun
2 Aug - Walked 3.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Treadmill wun5.00/80.00 mile goal
I was a bit short on time and energy today, so did what I could. I did a 1.50 mile wun, then practiced my piano for tomorrow, and then another 1.50 mile wun and a little more piano. That gave be a break from both.

Hi all & welcome newbies
Got home late Friday night to mild warm weather but a storm is passing over from this evening until probably Tuesday so will run 2day but will probably give 2moro a miss. I got out with Dakota yesterday to start the month. My August running goal is 80 miles and 200 on turbo trainer bike plus daily yoga. I haven’t done any yoga while I was away and definitely feel the difference in my posture so getting started this morning. We had our 27th wedding anniversary on Friday but because it was a travel day we had a Chinese takeaway to celebrate last night. We didn’t feel like going out
02/08 - Run 3.14 miles - Bike 5.12 miles - 0 yoga
7 -
Happy Anniversary @Mari33a !

@quilteryoyo hmmm could be the watch model. When I had the 935, there were some metrics were not available. Have the 955 now.
@Mari33a happy anniversary!

02/08 - Run 3.14 miles - Bike 5.12 miles - 0 yoga
03/08 - Run 3.27 miles - Bike 8.13 miles - 20 min yogaHad a good run with Dakota.
I was looking for the HRV too and it’s only available on certain models. My watch is the Forerunner 745 which doesn’t have it but the 945. There’s a list of compatible models4 -
Hello everyone, I'm checking in here with a primary goal to get back to running more regularly. ( 3 times per week would be very good if I can manage)
The other goal is to finish 5 km race ( 30th of August) within modest 32 minutes.
And to lose 2kg till the end of August.
For people who are working full time, how do you manage to run regularly, and what keeps you to not postpone/give up your trainings?

Hi @micukica,
Three things.
- This is a great monthly challenge to stay connected to running
- Success here for me has come with taking the :02 minutes a day to post something on the tread... don't ghost it.
- As a full-time worker it's tricky most of the maniacs here say "I like the quiet time in the morning, feel good getting it done and out of the way." Nope, for instance I am just about to do a Sunday "morning" run and it is just after 11:00 am. I run after work, and love it just as the sun is setting.
Welcome, and I like your plan for the month.

Thank you!
Today, Run in August number 1:
Only 2.5km. Pace not worth mentioning.
As soon as I do the next training I'll come here to brag about again. In a meanwhile, I'm a supporter.

August Goal: 165 miles
8/1: 6.26 miles
8/3: 11.25 miles
17.50/165 completed for August
I got out for 11 miles this morning. It was pretty hot when I started, but then it started clouding up and got a little windy. I was a little worried that I would get caught in a storm like I did on Father's Day. But I didn't, and it was nice because it was cooler.
@micukica I am in Texas, and it is usually hot here. So if I want to run, I need to do it in the morning before work. It is just too hot for me later in the day. Someone once asked me how I stayed motivated to run every day and the only answer I could really come up with is that I want to do it. I just know that if I want to get a run in I will need to get out before the sun comes up. This group is a great support too.

@micukica hello and welcome. I bring my running stuff to work and usually run immediately after work and its become a habit now and a good to relieve the stresses of the day. I find this way I still have the motivation. The moment my butt sinks into the couch at home ain't no getting back up...
6 -
Could be @WarmJellyfish . I have a 745.
I guess that answers the question @Mari33a .
Welcome @micukica . A 32 min 5K is a great pace, in my book, esp. if it is your first 5K. I haven't achieved that time yet. I'll let others answer your question as I work part time and have a really hard time getting in a run when I do work all day. Nice run today. There are all levels of runners on here, so don't feel like your pace isn't worth posting. Any run is faster than those who are sitting on the couch.
Nice run @kgirlhart .
1 Aug - Walked 2.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway wun

My Sunday Rest Day walk between church and lunch.

I ran 3.14M at 12'45 out at the lake this morning. It was a nice clear peaceful run out there.

I got out for a run this morning - the 2 hour time difference made an early start super easy. Not sure how far I ran as Garmin took ages to ‘find’ me, and I think it’s missed a good half a kilometre.
It’s a pleasant temperature here but definitely could be warmer. Apparently it’s an unusually cold winter. The girl were swimming in the sea and I was sunbathing so no complaints really.

26 of 225km for the month
Great runs everyone.
Sunday was supposed to go for a trail run, but after all the heavy overnight rains, didn't feel like battling mud and no way to wash all that off later so did the back to back on pavement with some hill training and it was a bit of a meh after saturday's longish run, but then again that's the whole idea to learn to run with fatigue. Building up time on feet too. On the plus side running up hills seems to be getting more doable and fed a bunch of mozzzies. They were hungry!6 -
Happy birthday @quilteryoyo
Happy anniversary @Mari33a
Beautiful pictures @ContraryMaryMaryWelcome all the newbies! Great running so far everybody!!
Have been quiet for the last couple of months. Lot of life excuses, but going to try to do better this month. I did get a new pair of shoes (Saucony Endorphin Speed 5). I LOVED the Speed 2, but when I moved to the Speed 3 is when I think my knee kept getting aggravated. But I think these feel better (only have run on the TM due to weather). Going to take them out tomorrow morning.

Good morning!
I need to update my logs…Friday did not go as planned. I skipped my workout because I was so drained. I moved it to Saturday but DH and both woke up with our Oura rings saying he was highly symptomatic and I was mildly symptomatic. Obviously it can't tell you why you are symptomatic, but can make a guess you are sick based off your biometrics. DH was not feeling well and I was meh and tired.
1 Aug - 0 Miles, 0 WOG, 0 min upper body
2-3 Aug - Rest/SickGoal: 20 Miles / 39 Min WOG'ing / 13 Strength
The weekend was slow. I bought covid tests and both of us came back negative. Odd since that is the only bug we know we were both around at the same time. Our symptoms of whatever we have are very mild so maybe just not registering. Either way we will get over whatever it is.
We have another major fire near us that started I think on Thursday, it is growing insanely fast. Our heros (firefighters) have been able to keep it in the mountains (sorry ranchers) so far and the wind as blown the smoke away from us…for now. There is a lot of town between us and the fire but after the Palasades, that doesn't mean anything anymore.
Exercise is TBD today, I have my gym bag just in case. Yesterday our Oura rings said no symptoms, today my ring said major…for what it is worth. I don't feel terrible but the day is young.
Rought start to the week but here we go!
