5km done today, already a day behind, didn’t run yesterday after sitting in the office chair all day & feeling an ominous twinge in my back.
So either I run on consecutive days (tomorrow & then Saturday) or run on Friday & risk a hangover run on Sunday.
Anyway, fastest 5km since the pandemic achieved. I am lowering my time about once a fortnight at the moment.
Progress/ Goals August.
Runs...……................…….....3/13
Distance Ttl..........................18km/91km
Distance Ind......................…8km/10km
Run outside................…....…Done.
Fast 5K (post pandemic)…...Done

Beautiful photos!
And, you are all so busy, I can only congratulate you.
Yesterday I was walking, and running only 2 km. I was in a hurry, and I' m so slow, so each km cost a lot of time. Pace:
1st km 7' 30"
2nd km 6'40"/km
It is what it is.
I'm going to set a goal for August: 30 km total. Just to keep myself focused on weekly distance ( not less then 7km) .
@John772016 I said I used to be more active so now I know the theory. In reality I'm so so far from where I was.
I have some problems with my phone, so I only have web version. I hope I'll fix that soon so I can better follow what is going on in discussions.

Morning all.
I got in 5.5 miles at 10'14.
Got a new pair of Asics Gel-Kayano 30s.
.
@Scott6255 hope brothers surgery went ok? 🙏🏽

ooooooo White shoes Tarun?!!! That is a departure for you for sure… Don't run in the rain with them. 😂😂
Up to 30 miles for the month so far so I am going to set a goal finally of 100 which I think I can achieve. I was not sure how the foot would hold up as I am adding more mileage but finally after 10 weeks!!!!! it is acting almost normal and most of the time I don't even recall it is down there anymore. My VO2max and my cardio fitness ability appear to be returning but it is a struggle I will admit. We lose it SO fast (or gain wt) and it is hard to get it back….

My brother's hip replacement surgery went well according to the updates from my SIL. But when he woke up he was is miserable pain, and they wouldn't give him any pain meds for over 3 hours. But he finally got some and got some sleep. This morning he said he was feeling much better, but they won't let him out of bed yet to try the new hip. Hopefully he will go to PT today and they will let him leave the hospital.
I got in 5 miles this morning. Tried to keep it in Zone 2. Started out well, but after the 1st minute I just couldn't help myself and steadily increased until I was in Zone 4. Oh well, will keep trying to increase my time in Zone 2.

Base run yesterday with super sore and stiff legs from Tuesday's workout. A walkin' we will go…

Hello @micukica
1st km 7' 30"
2nd km 6'40"/km
It is what it is.
99% of all people did not run 2km yesterday. You doing 2km is actually extraordinary. 30km for the month sounds like a good plan.

@tarun_yadavA Love the new runners.
My Nikes are also white and they have stood to the road dirt surprisingly well. They seem to resist the dirt, even muddy paw prints brushed off.
I was hoping to get another 1-2 months out of mine but I've noticed the arch dropping and since my foot is well improved I think I'm going to have to go shopping too very soon

Nice runs @Laurz9191 (enjoy Long Island for the next few days), @WarmJellyfish, @tarun_yadavA, @daria0919, @yirara, @Mari33a (& great biking too!), @username301 (Congrats on your fastest 5K since the pandemic!!), @micukica (no worries, all good, we're all coming from wherever we are; just a few years ago, I would have looked at your 2km and hoped that someday I would do that), @SummerSkier (…'most of the time I don't even recall it is down there anymore…') that's usually when I cause myself a new problem!, & @Scott6255 (glad your BiL's surgery went well)!
I was starting to think a full on Vader mask is going to be the running de rigueur if this keeps up @WarmJellyfish.
Hoping for rain coming your way @angf0679! We're supposed to get some thunderstorms Fri/Sat, it's been so dry… I'm hoping for a good soaking here.
Nice shoe porn @tarun_yadavA! - white - I'd call those my treadmill shoes or they'd never be white again!
Aug:01/08 - 13.34km / 8.29 miles
02/08 - 6.13km / 3.81 mile
03/08 - 0km
04/08 - 11.18km / 6.95 miles

07/08 - 8.69km / 5.40 miles
Total = 44.37km / 27.57 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)My physio got moved to the afternoon so took advantage and hit the road for a run in the mid-morning. Air quality, meh, but not too bad and humidity was definitely increasing but enough of a breeze to help.
We're supposed to be back in the 40⁰C+ feels the next few days.7 -
25 pound rucking is not my idea of a recovery day either @WarmJellyfish .
Sounds like it was a good idea to do a summertime treadmill run with that air quality @John772016 . Glad you got in a nice run this morning outdoors.
Thanks @Laurz9191 . Sounds like you've had a great time in NY. Have a safe trip home.
@tarun_yadavA I knew you had said 10 days, so I was surprised. They must have put it on the concord or something. LOL (Does the concord even fly anymore?) Love the shoe porn!
Thanks @daria0919 . Great job getting the walks in. The ankle doing better? I'm glad your husband did well and is back to work.
I hope you get some rain @angf0679 .
@Scott6255
I hope your brother got through his surgery well and recovers quickly.Glad the surgery went well and he's filling better today! Nice run today.Congratulations on a great run @yirara !
Great riding and running @Mari33a . Don't wait too long for new shoes.
Congrats on the speedy 5K @username301 .
You are doing great @micukica . You don't want to do too much too fast and get injured.
Thirty miles already @SummerSkier ? You are doing great. I'm glad that your foot is finally better! You'll get your fitness back soon.

Posting three days. I've been busy since my birthday! LOL
Tuesday, I went back to the doctor's office to get blood work for my appointment on Friday. As I sat there waiting, the receptionist called me back up to inform me that I didn't have an appointment on Friday. We moved it to October after a sick visit a couple of months ago and I didn't delete it from my calendar. So, yet another day not having my early morning coffee and breakfast for nothing. LOL
I did a driveway wun when I got home. I did a run/walk of 1/1 min, running up the hills most of the time. Avg pace was 13:32 min/mile. Avg Hr was 142 with a max of 162 bpm.
Yesterday, I played doubles tennis in the morning. I came home and picked up mom for a Bible Study our pastor started, wound up working 1.5 hours, and then we ran some errands. By the time I got home, I only had 1.5 hours before having to leave again, so I just walked 1.25 miles on the treadmill.
Today, I got out fairly early and did a similar wun to Tuesday's. I did a shorter warm up walk, hoping that the minute runs would be less uphill, but, wouldn't you know, they were more so. The overall time was almost exactly the same, even though the runs were a bit slower. I guess the walks were faster since they weren't on the hills. My avg pace was 13:43 min/mile. Avg HR was 129 with a max of 152 bpm.

I ran 3.59M at 13'22.
Summer in coastal California is usually August, September, and October. It started. Today was the hottest day of the year. ..and June is the coldest month...and February is the most beautiful and best time to visit
😀

August Goal: 165 miles
8/1: 6.26 miles
8/3: 11.25 miles
8/4: 5.10 miles
8/5: 6.10 miles
8/6: 6.62 miles
8/7: 6.10 miles
41.42/165 completed for August
I am posting two runs. Life has just been busy. I got new shoes and ran in them for the first time yesterday. My old shoes have 722 miles on them, so it was definitely time.
Yesterday I did a tempo run. I ended up with 6.62 miles. It was a nice run and I hit all the paces.
Today I just ran a 6 mile base run. It felt pretty good too. Tomorrow is supposed to be hill repeats. I found a good hill to use, but both Tuesday and Wednesday I saw a skunk there. I didn't see him today, so we'll see if I can run that hill or not.
NNice Shoes @tarun_yadavA !

@John772016 When I was complaining to myself about how much I hate the wind on yesterday evening's run, I thought of you and 'sucked it up' and actually ended up appreciating the fresh air😅

Morning all
Got in 7.49Miles at 09'27 pace.
Thanks all for the new shoe JuJu! 🙏🏽
@SummerSkier I know! White! I just go for whatevers in my size (UK 12) and a Gel kayano 30... Shop online and saw these! Thankfully it's summer and not much rain around!
@Scott6255 glad to hear he's doing well now. Shame about the no painkillers for 3 hours thing. Ouch. 😖
@quilteryoyo concorde? Haha. No. Long gone!
What's the card count on? With 1 week to go? And what are the plans for the big day?
4 -
Nice run @chris_in_cal . Interesting about the temps in California. I know I was at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco in Aug and about froze to death. LOL
Nice running and love those shoes @kgirlhart .
Great speedy run @tarun_yadavA . Yeah. I thought the Concord was ages ago. I did get to see it land once when I was in Seattle for a meeting. It was pretty cool. I'm not sure what the card count is now. She seems to be getting a couple a day. I hope the pace picks up now that it is closer to her birthday. I need to keep a running tally. As for plans…we are having her a big party on the day after - drop in reception type thing. So next week is going to be spent making sure I have everything ready. It should be fun.

I did a slower "recovery" driveway wun this morning. I'm glad that is what I had planned, because I'm not sure I could have done much more. I walked all the hills today. The run avg pace was 14:14 min/mile. Avg HR was 119 with a max of 139 bpm.

Nice running everyone.
Did a fast walking trail hike yesterday evening beating out an incoming storm. Rather muddy from all the ongoing rain. Fed one mozzie.

Nice runs @quilteryoyo (& walks & tennis!), @chris_in_cal (news radio on while I was having a coffee before my run this morning was talking about the 'end of summer' just a couple weeks away - I shut it off), @kgirlhart (& nice shoe porn - hope they don't get to meet the skunk), @tarun_yadavA (are they dirty yet?), @WarmJellyfish (nice hike), & @yirara!
Send that wind my way @Mari33a!

08/09 - 8.04km / 5.00 miles (Garmin said I needed a rest day… I've decided I'm back to ignoring it —- there's no way in hell I need another rest day this week!)
Total = 52.41km / 32.57 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)Was planning a longer run this morning & air quality was so-so (maybe the new 'okay'?), but the humidity was making the air way too thick, so cut it much shorter which I decided during the run.
Regardless of the shorter run, the scale said I lost 5lbs+, on a 45 min run - Yep, I was a sweaty mess! - Not a girlfriend run pace today.Anyway, showered & re-hydrated - now making some tomato sauce - gotta love the local tomatoes while I can!

Question for August:
Christmas is in 138 days…What do you want for Christmas?
5 -
@WarmJellyfish Just one? I didn't know you can feed just one. 🤣🤷♂️
Nice run @John772016 . I think we all ignore Garmin a lot. Five pounds in sweat! That's a lot. I sweat a lot too, but usually lose 2 -3 pounds on a longer run. I love local, vine ripened tomatoes.
Runners guilt. Gets you all the time @Mari33a . Great run. I'll see if I can message you. If you sent me an e-mail, I must not have recognized it as from someone I knew. That would be great.
@AlphaHowls I'm sorry you have been sick. Glad you are feeling better. I'm a questioner. Doesn't surprise me. LOL I would love to have a running medal holder or something else that helps me organize the few that I have. I'd like to have one that has a drawer or something to hold the bibs too. AND, I am going to try to do races in as many states as possible, so a map to keep track of states I have raced in would be great too.
6 -
@Mari33a I sent you a friend request and message with her info. Let me know if you get it or not. Thanks.
2 -
@AlphaHowls so GLAD you are feeling better. That razor throat was described by my dr to me as the type of covid we had here in the spring but it sounds like maybe you just irritated your throat for a day. WHEW! Have to think about what I want for Xmas. I think I want to be healthy. 🤷♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Took a rest day yesterday after getting some good mileage in for the beginning of the month. It's hard for me to do total rest days … so I did a mile for streak and a walk after work. The tennis courts are done but I have not been able to play on them yet as my neighbor had sinus surgery and will be out for at least 2 weeks. Which is OK as it is pretty dang hot this time of year.
I know I lose a pound or 2 on long runs in the summer time. And I have to admit when I am trying to drop part of my running motivation is stepping on the scale later. Which I know is bad but 🤷♀️
Super speedy long run yesterday Tarun. I guess those white shoes are making you the flash!
7 -
@John772016 envious its warm out your way. We had a couple of plus 30 days early June but nothing since then. I think this winter is going to suck.
@quilteryoyo I usually douse mysef in deet before heading out, naturally this fella found that ONE spot not covered 😂
Yes was a rest day so I went for a short walkabout

I ran 3.91M at 13'21
Another hot day. This run had eight intervals.
6 -
@SummerSkier I really thought it was covid. I had razor blade throat for 3 days, but all my tests came back negative. I woke up with it early Tuesday morning and by Wednesday I was whipped. I actually came home from work early (I don't do that) and did not go to work on Thursday. I took cold medicine and ibuprofen and Running partner A made me turkey noodle soup. My guess is just the stress over last month, not really being out in public all that much and I had three days where I went somewhere, as well as going back to church for the first time since April 2024.
@quilteryoyo I actually had my medals with bibs pinned to them hanging in my room from an old curtain rod. It fell down a couple of months ago and I never put it back up.
Christmas: this will be a hard one for me. I have never missed a Christmas with my mother in all my born days. 54 Christmases with my Mom. This will be #1 without her. I do not have an intentions to decorate because she was the decorator. I was the muscle. This is the first time I really thought about it and I am a bit emotional about it.
Old picture, but this is what we did for out 50th Christmas together. We decorated in gold.
