Oh, and Garmin says I’m detraining - makes a change from being unproductive 🤪.
Remember when Garmin was being nice to me? Well that’s definitely over 😂

oh man @Scott6255 just when MY knee is finally behavin better today and apparently I sent the bad juju right up north of me. Maybe not both your knees match?😏😳 seriously I hope it's nothing too serious and that tomorrow you will have a positive report for us.
Happy Birthday @quilteryoyo 's MOM. She and I share the date!!!!
I am also going to report that my Apple watch took note of my birthday and immediately dropped my VO2max fitness from 41.4 to 41.1 today .. So like any one else would I went in a backdated my birthday a year - be interesting to see what tomorrow's report is. I have sneaking suspicion it will pop back to 41.4
I always find it interesting that all of the health metrics use age as one of the weighting factors in their calculations. I have a hand held BMI/BF% thingy and depending on what age I tell it i am it recalculates significantly
Anyway, limiting my runs to 5K the past couple of days since i remembered from way way back in the 90s that would help my knee and it really seems to have. Currently up to 65 miles for the month out of I dunno how many I decided on.
Hai Hai says I love you Mom but LET ME GO!

Happy Birthday @SummerSkier and @quilteryoyo 's Mom.
@Scott6255 I hope the knee isn't too serious.
I ran 6 miles this morning and did 3 x hill repeats. It was pretty tough. Partly because I was tired, but it was also 81°F. I saw the skunk from last week. I was running down the hill the first time and saw him crossing the street right in the middle of the hill. But he went on his way so I continued. Then on my 3rd time down the hill, I saw him crossing the street again in the same spot but going the other direction.

Happy (belated by a few hours) birthday @SummerSkier
@Scott6255 oh no! Sorry to hear about your other knee!

SummerSkier@SummerSkier What a cute kitty! See my profile picture for my kitty Wesley
Today I dropped from my virtual half to the virtual 10km. I am struggling again and know I won't be ready enough in 1 1/2 months for a half marathon. I haven't got out for a run again this week, even though I was on vacation and had lots of free time. I am working on my motivation to get out today yet. It's only 1pm and there is still time. I added it to my "to do list" for the day.

Nice runs @ContraryMaryMary, @SummerSkier(belated Happy Birthday!!), @kgirlhart, & @tarun_yadavA!

Total = 89.62km / 55.69 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)Lead legs today; I blame my insomnia (hate laying in bed wide awake so gave up, got up, & watched movies (Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb & Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3); also possibly to blame - too little protein & sodium in my diet yesterday…..
I was originally thinking of doing an 8-10km but decided after the first lousy feeling 1km to make it a quick 5K & keep it close to home.5 -
I ran 4.16M at 12'42 out at the lake. The plan called it an Anaerobic run.
7 -
Pilates and a short run today.
5 -
Morning all
I got in 7.49M at 10'2 pace

Well I tried a little more yesterday and think I need to stick to my 5 k a little longer but I am OK with that. My VO2Max returned to my 66 yo level yesterday when I told it I did NOT have a birthday.
thank you for the birthday wishes! No big party photos but I definitely had a great day of it.

Oh, @Scott6255, so very sorry to hear of your fall! I hope with frequent icing, rest and elevation it’ll recover quickly. Please keep us posted on how you’re doing.
Happy Birthday @SummerSkier! Hope it was a nice one! Love the photo of you and kitty!4 -
Nice running everyone!
So last night I did a fun little midnight trail run race. 26k/16mi 860m/2800ft in elevation gain. Started at 8.30pm finished at 1.30am. Up ans down up and down repeat for 5 hours 🙄😁. Light set up worked great. I managed to slip on some loose gravel did a fliperoo and re-wrenched the right shoulder again. Cant lift it right now 😐😡. Encountering cows on the trail was magical. Especially when their eyes reflect back headlamp lights like and episode of the x files 😁 when cows are black cant tell if they are cows or a bear sometimes 🤔

Today is one of San Diego's big races. The 48th America's Finest City Half Marathon.
There's an inspiring story of a local streaker lady, she's 80 and she is running it today, her 48th consecutive race. She's done it every year. She runs 6 miles a day.
6 -
Thanks for this segment @chris_in_cal! So inspiring!

10km done at a very slow pace, longest run since covid. My long run is now 50% of my total distance which I'm sure I've read is a bad idea. May have to remedy that in Sep.
Progress/ Goals August.

I ran 4.75M at 13'30 out at the beach. The plan called for a 1:04 "long run"
It's breezy 69°F (21°C) with blue skies.

I ran 10 miles today. I had just started out and was about half a block from my house when I saw 5 peacocks crossing the road. I have no idea where they came from. I have never seen them before. I wasn't really sure if they were aggressive or not, but I wasn't taking any chances and I ran around the block and headed on my way.
It was pretty hot and humid. But there was a bit of a breeze so it wasn't miserable.
I'm still on the fence on my HM training. I looked at a Garmin coach plan. I don't like that you don't see what the daily workout will be in advance. Plus today was my long run day and it had me down for a 9 minute run.
The Hal Higdon plan at least tells me 2 weeks worth at a time, but there are lots of 3 mile runs and even today the plan called for 3 mile run. I think I will probably just roughly follow the Hal Higdon plan. I remember @PastorVincent recommended one long run, one speedwork run amd the rest easy runs. I will probably just take that approach.

8k today.
I hope to still be running at 80 - it’ll probably be my only chance to podium!

120 of 225kms so far. Just did a very short recovery walk yesterday, sore aging legs. Shoulder still super stiff, probably should have a physio look at it.

Woke up pretty sluggish today, I will definitely need to remember a cup of coffee an hour before my workout. A barely had any water all weekend so I am sure that is a factor, brough my jug and liquid IV to work…glug glug!
Still haven't weighed myself. I know I am eating junk…sigh.
I hope everyone gets everything done they want to this week!

Thanks for all the sympathy for my fall on Friday. I tested my knee this morning on the TM for 3 miles and it felt fine. So no structural damage, just nasty cuts and scrapes.

@kgirlhart I've found with Garmin Coach plans, if you select a certain coach for a certain distance, say Galloway for a 10k, it tends not to follow the specified days of running and long run days. Probably because those coaches have their own ideas of when should a long run be etc. I gave up on those. What I did was to set a custom plan, didn't choose a coach. In Garmin calendar, set a goal/time/effort event goal with distance, date, time, specify all the workout days, rest days and long days and it's pretty much followed my specs. I can see up to a week, by midweek, I can also see some of next week's scheduled training. It gives you phases like base, build, peak, taper etc. Its been really good at following specified days and adjusting the training, like I had a small race for the weekend and it planned a taper for that. Just don't wear the watch to sleep, if you have a 955 or higher as it tends to be motherly with changing the planned training event if you have a crappy night's sleep. The below is my plan for the week and will probably end up around 50ks for the week at my tortoise pace…

Sorry I have been absent from here for an entire week. I'm trying to catch up while I'm watching the kids sleep at daycare.
I'm sorry to see that you have been sick @ContraryMaryMary . I hope you are fully recovered by now.
Hahaha @Scott6255 . I'm glad you figured out how to cool off after a run and before you shower.
I like Fartlek runs too @kgirlhart . I'm glad the dog just startled you and the owner was there.
Congrats on the streak @SummerSkier . Sorry your knee is giving you problems now. If it isn't one think, it's another.
Nice VO2max @chris_in_cal !
@John772016 "Garmin is now happy again, as apparently it thought my hard bike ride was similar to sitting on the couch binge watching Game of Thrones & eating snacks🤷♂️." Hahaha
@CMorning99 Glad you aren't under the threat of fires anymore. Sounds like getting used to your job is taking some time. You'll get there.
As I said on Strava, so sorry you feel and hurt your other knee @Scott6255 . I hope it isn't too serious.
@Mari33a . I'm glad you weren't hit by the stupid driver. I hope you had a fun weekend.
Glad you see you getting back out there @angf0679 !
Thank @SummerSkier . I hope you had a great birthday. It's interesting that your age would affect your VO2max. I don't see why it would matter.
Thanks @kgirlhart . Nice run. I guess the skunk did whatever he crossed the road for and then headed back home. LOL Peacocks are interesting and very pretty. I do wonder where they came from if you never hear them though, because they can be loud. Following @PastorVincent 's advice is probably a good idea. He was very knowledgeable.
I'll try to get some pictures up for you this evening @tarun_yadavA .
Great little trail run @WarmJellyfish . The eyes would be scary when you aren't sure what they are attached to. 🤣
Nice long run @username301 .
Looks like everyone is doing great at getting out there and doing what they can based on life circumstances. I'll try to update on my progress this evening. I just didn't have time with all the party planning/cooking this past week.

I was away for the weekend. Long drive up to the coast, night in a very cheap, not very good bnb, and then the attempt at a waddensea hike in the morning. It totally failed. Even the guide was surprised how deep the mud was. I gave up after some 300m wading through kneedeep mud when I luxated a small toe. I still had 900m of equally deep mud ahead of me. A lot of other people also gave up. Drove back home in the evening and caught up with some sleep. Running, like always after a longer ride was tough. But was ok.

@yirara I wonder what Garmin would say about a kilometer of hiking through deep mud? It looks like a great adventure. Thank you for the pictures.
