30 Day Shred for October

  • Today was Thanksgiving for me, and I allowed myself a cheat day - man, am I NEVER doing that again! If I do ever allow myself a 'cheat,' it'll be only for one meal, not an entire day! By the time 3:30pm had rolled around I had already eaten 1200 calories…oops! But then I had a two hour walk, so that was nice.

I came home to Thanksgiving dinner, and might have overdone it on the turkey/stuffing ever so slightly. Oh well - at least there's SOME protein in that, right? ;D

Had dessert as well - ended up eating somewhere around 3000 - 3500 calories today, I'd say? Not entirely sure. But today was one of those rare days where it's a huge meal with family and friends and the atmosphere is so cozy and wonderful that you can't help but pig out - I'll definitely be working hard this week, though.

Speaking of working hard, today was Day 1 of Level 2 for me and let me just say OH. MY. GOD.

Guys, you are literally going to want to just flop over on the ground and NEVER MOVE AGAIN after this workout. (Maybe even in the middle of it!) It was HARD. But I can definitely feel the burn.

I can tell, this week is going to be a good one. Full of pain and soreness and gritted teeth and sweat and wanting to punch Jillian in the face, but a good one nonetheless.

Did my first day of Level 2 today. Saturday was a rest day, Sunday was a cycling day - 70 miles! I have to say I noticed a difference in my cycling strength and I know it's cuz of Jillian. I am not even sore today, the day after. And that NEVER happens to me - my legs usually kill me after such a long ride.

I've been doing Ripped in 30 and 30DS off and on for the last four months and I am somehow not sick of Jillian yet, though I can relate to those of you saying she is getting annoying. In my book, no one is as annoying as the constantly yammering Tony Horton of P90X fame!!

Level 2 was a good workout though I am not a fan of the high knees!!

Day 9 level 1 done. Last day tomorrow and then level 2. Can't believe how much easier today was than day 1. Now that's progress!

Oh and since I had such a wild and crazy summer I decided to start my goals all over again at "0". New beginnings . . . Sigh.

I started level 2 today and really enjoyed it, I thought I was going to hate it!

I only had to take a 5 sec break during the plank jacks, which says a lot about my improvement in strength and stamina. :)

    Finished Level 1!

No change in weight but I think I've lost an inch off my waist and about half an inch off my hips. Plus I can feel a difference in my strength and stamina, and I didn't end in a crumple on my couch at the end, like the first day, ha!
  • I'm in too! better late then never!

I did L1D8 today. 2 days till level 2, a little nervous for that. I can say that I already feel stronger though. Am down 3-4 pounds already.

Even though I had allergies knock me out the rest of the week; and, I gained a pound- I am down three more pounds to 254.. Pretty stoked and will keep listening to the twenty push! I need to get to my November battle weight of 240 to kick it into high gear.
  • Finished Level 2 Day 2 today. It was exhausting. I had to take a break or two - I might end up scrapping Level 3 altogether and just work at mastering Level 2, depending on how things go. I'm REALLY bad at this one! D:

Whoo hoo! almost done with level 1! Not doing it over this weekend... 16 hour shifts+not enough sleep=too much! How is it going for everyone? I think its a little boring, but its a workout! I've gained 1.8 lbs, but I am noticing some small changes. What about everyone else? Noticing any changes?

i think it's a little boring too but it's over fast. i use my own music to help make it more interesting and i don't stop when she stops and is talking like i keep doing jumping jacks or i ate least jog so i get a full 25 minutes of action

Day 7 today becuase i slacked off on the 3 day weekend. Today level 1 was easiar but i think that had to do with the fact that i had a big break.
I like what the other person said about moving on to level 2 only after they can do the pushups w/no knees. tomorrow i'll try kneeless :)
I've managed to do the first 30 sec of the side lunch arm raise with 3# weights, still barely getting the 2nd round with 2# weights, but at least i've got weights the whole time.

Day 10 Level 1 done! I was able to do about 6 non-modified push ups for each set before switch to the knees. Wondering if I want to advance yet, Hmmm. I'll try level two in the morning and if it is too much then I'll alternate between the two. But besides the push-ups I feel as if I am breezing through Level 1 now and less than two weeks ago it was killing me ( I could barely do all of the modified pushups) so I think I will face whatever Level 2 puts before me..
  • level 1, day 8 for me.
Missed yesterday due to (stinking) jury duty--the most boring'est 8 hrs of my life! So glad I wasn't chosen to serve tho! Anywho Playing catch up today. Gonna do level 1 twice! Congrats to all who are starting level 2!! Best wishes!

I am late, but want to join in. Started the 30 day shred 7 days ago. Still on level 1, and don't anticipate being able to handle level 2 for a while, but I am supplementing the video with extra walking etc because I am desperate to lose fast! Mind me tagging along here?

I am late too, but it is inspiring to see everyone's progress so i'd love to tag along if that's ok! i just started yesterday, but this is my 3rd time doing the shred (ever, not in a row), so hopefully between the inspiration here and remembering how well it worked in the past i will stick to it this time! best of luck to you all!

Started level 2 today and am surprised at how well i did. I understand why i quit when i got to L2 last time but I for sure will stick it out this time around! I made it all the way to the last cardio segment of workout 3 (plank jacks) and then my body was like...:noway: i had to take a break:sad: . Couple of seconds later I was back in the game until the end. Each day I am getting more and more proud of how dedicated I am. For everyone on this same journey, stay focused!

Feeling much much better today!!! Level one day 9 finished... one more day of level one!! Im feeling very well and much stronger... I am still horrible at the lunges i just have really bad balance I do fine on the side lunges... annoying! I cant wait to start level two! something new! whooooo who!
  • I honestly think that I would have quit the shred if it weren't for you lovely people. (: Your progress and inches lost and talks of gaining strength are seriously inspirational - more than once have I wanted to give up, but remembering how I need to check into this thread reminds me of my commitment.

In any case, Day 3 of Level 2 is now done. It was exhausting, as usual, but...maybe not as bad as before? Not sure. I'm supplementing the shred with alternating days of the C25k program and 45 minutes of strength training targeting arms and abs. I hope that the check in this Saturday goes well!

I've not been able to do 30DS for the last few days so I've fallen behind a lot of you but I'm still going after it and will finish it. I just may take a little longer as I am still struggling with fatigue in some parts of level 1. I do put the weights down when I get to that point so I'm pressing on... :D

Good for you, Tammy! You have the right attitude. Keep on keepin' on! :flowerforyou: Just do what you can - the main thing is to keep going.

As for me, all my office mates have been hacking and sneezing all around me for about a week, so I think I am finally succumbing. Feel off kilter, so not sure I can shred today. But I am still going to give it my best shot. Also went over on calories yesterday. :grumble: Does anyone else out there have a hard time resisting a glass of vino during the week? :drinker: I try to keep any alcohol consumption to the weekend, but there are days.....that chardonnay tasted soooo good last night! Sigh...

Level 2, whew!! Good Job everyone who has moved on and good job to everyone still on Level 1 for sticking with it!! On level 2 I can't do the jumping part of the plank jacks cause it will wake up my kids so i just do them really fast and end up getting a good workout that way. The same with the mountain climbers, can't do them cause they are too loud on my floor for the kids. but I do the modified version really fast. I can't tell you how happy I am to be done with those dreaded side lunges!! hated those. I have noticed a great increase in strength though since completing level 1. Keep Going everyone!!!
