The last 10 pounds challenge (closed group)

  • Hi everyone-

Sorry I haven't been checking in much throughout the week. I am so busy with grad school it's impossible to even workout most of the time let alone post to a blog! =)

Even though I don't post much, I think having something I feel the need to check in to (other than myself or just mfp) has been very motivational for me. I've definitely lost a couple pounds since this group started, so it clearly did something!

This week I only managed to workout one day, which is pretty shameful, but I did add 30 minutes to my 30 minutes of cardio (so like 10 minutes three times, haha).

No change in weight, but it hasn't gone back up at least.

Maybe for a challenge we could try a new workout or something you haven't done in awhile? Like kickboxing class or yoga or cardio barre? Or we could just focus on push-ups again and try to get in 100 throughout the week.

Also I think you mean fitnessblackbook.com since fitnessblack.com doesn't appear to exist. =)

    Hey All,

I haven't posted weight for a while because there has been nothing to report on. As you know, I went on holidays for two weeks and put on and this week it came off, so still sitting at 123 Ibs. STILL! I think this was my starting weight on here :grumble:

What HAS changed, is that I have upped my cals from 1200 to 1300 AND incorporated a 're-feed' day. No loss but no gain either. So... kind of a win!

Kblue- I hear you with the weight stall! I don't seem to move from 123! It goes a little up and then comes than a little down, always back to the same number. I'll let you know how this 're-feed' program goes. Ps. Your workout week looked great!

Midnight- Don't be too worried about upping the cals. Sometimes we need to do that so our bodies knows it's okay to keep losing.

cheshirechic- I hope you're feeling better! :flowerforyou:

maggyrose1951- Everyone is very supportive here. Welcome!

bprague- We're not here to judge only support. That's great news that you are getting back into it

Brooklyn85- I got a new HRM too. How awesome are they! MFP was calculating my burns as too high and now I can accurately log them.

Val- Awesome losses! Well done and the ex sounds like a jerk. He would have thought you looked great but didn't want to admit it.

Welcome to the group Maggie! Great to see you on this thread! We all check in on Sunday to report our weight, exercise routine, and anything else that is on our mind. Once a month, we report our measurements (first Sunday of the month). Please feel free to check in more often if you would like -- everyone here is wonderful and can offer great motivation (especially when discouraged with the last few pounds).

Congrats to Brooklyn for meeting last week's cardio challenge!!!!! Great job finding the time and energy for that extra push!

    *****CHALLENGE --- CHALLENGE******

    Push ups!!!!!!

How many can you do??? Try to reach 100 this week. They can be any style, but if you do them on your knees or with a bench/step, you need to challenge yourself to at least 5 on your toes.

And because I need the push, I challenge all of you to drink ALL of your water EVERY day (starting today, HA!).

    Good Luck!

    HI All,

Hope you are having a good week. I am back down to 127.5 where I started this challenge, but glad to be down the pounds I had put on.

    Push up challenge is good.

Worked out a lot, and still think I need to cut back.

    Have a great week

So am I totally stalking my own food diary today, haha!!! I planned out the whole week (with estimated workouts), including saturday (going out to dinner....stalked the website and tried to log best I could). If I can stick to my week, I should be at a total of 830cal deficit (not including MFP's already calculated deficit)....that's gotta drop the weight a little right?????

You always workout a lot  I don't think you need to cut it back IF you are enjoying yourself and not killing yourself or pushing TOO hard. Just eat more.....HAHA, funny when people are pushing you to eat more, huh!!!! xoxo

    Hey Everyone!!!!
How's your week going??? I've been trying not to eat back my exercise calories to keep a deficit for the week.....today am officially out of the red from sunday....sad it took me 4days, but I really haven't been able not to eat back some of those calories this week.
Val, you mentioned headaches the other week....I've totally had a headache all week and its been making me miserable. The scale has been pretty good to me though, so if I can make some progress this week, it MIGHT be worth it.
    Happy "Almost" Friday Everyone
  • Happy Friday girls! When evr I'm tempted to eat more, I hold that piece of food or plate up to my tummy and think, is it really worth it? :noway: good luck! :)

Ok so my ambitious 800cal deficit for the week didn't pan out, but as long as I stick to my day today I should have a small one or break even for the week. Scale was down a teeny bit today...tomorrow maybe will show something greater, I hope, but I'll definitely take the teeny bit

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!!

So how did everyone do this week? Anyone manage to try the push up challenge? Kate, how are your headaches?

I think I had a pretty good week. Weight up to 126, but I'm okay with that because I feel like I have lost inches.....specifically in the lower belly area. We'll see. I haven't taken my measurements to know for sure.

This week, I failed the challenges, but got my exercise in.
    Sun -- Fire 55
Mon -- Fire 45 plus upper body strength
Tues -- HIIT 20 plus lower body strength
    Wed -- rest
Thurs -- HIIT 20 and full body sculpt
    Fri -- Fire 55
    Sat -- 6 mile hike

Although I didn't get in my 100 pushups, I did do 3 pushups in a row on my toes. Watch out! And -- I have been on a mission to see if I could do 2 minutes straight of jumping jacks. No go. But I am up to 1 minute, 20 seconds.

Great job with the jumping jacks Val!!!! Headaches are ok....ended up eating a lot of my exercise calories during the week, I had to. I'm not doing that every week, though, but around the holidays I think it will help keep my weight down so I will definitely enforce it then.

Weight down SLIGHTLY to 128.8.....0.4 loss, ehhh not as great as I was hoping but I'll take it!!

    Sunday-cardio and strength
    Monday-2mile walk
    Tuesday-Circuits, cardio and strength
    Wednesday-cardio and strength
    Thursday-circuits, cardio and strength
    Friday-cardio and strength
    Saturday-circuits, cardio and strength

I was gonna go to the gym this morning BUT decided not to...needed a day off.

I did 120 push ups...can only do two in a row on my toes though.......:grumble:

Have to admit I am feeling pretty good about my self this morning...tummy is tigher, legs are smaller, I'm getting to a point where I am getting more comfortable with myself, YAY!!! Oh and also decided to check my body type....turns out I have a large body frame...always thought I had a medium build, but according to my wrist and breadth measurements I am closer to a large frame, so my weight is low for my body type, good, I guess

Just bought calipers too, can't wait to check my body fat.

Val are we doing measurements this up coming week or the following??

Homemade pizza (making my own dough) and beer today  Enjoy everyone!!!

Nice with the toe push-ups, ladies!

I completely forgot about the challenge.

BUT...I stayed exactly the same from last week: 134.8. And this week included more drinks than usual...

    Sunday: Zumba
Monday: Yoga (JM's Yoga Meltdown, levels one and two back to back)
    Tuesday: Rest
    Wednesday: Zumba
Thursday: Circuit Training (JM No More Trouble Zones)
Friday: Running (YAY! Two miles nonstop plus some crazy inclines)
    Saturday: Rest

My maid/soon-to-be-matron of honor's wedding is on Saturday. So excited, but I need to figure out a plan to deflect the desire to eat 2983478239 hors d'oeuvres and wedding cake, haha.

HA I usually eat so many hor d'oeuvres I never eat my meal.....sounds awesome....enjoy it!!
  • I did my 100 push-ups and always drink enough water thankfully. I can do about 5 push-ups in a row on my toes. I only managed to get in 3 workouts this week, but I worked out really hard when I did. Kind of a bad week otherwise. Stress of school is getting worse and my sleep schedule is all out of whack. Anyway, hopefully this week will be better! Good luck to everyone else!
  • Hey gals! I'm going on the joice fast. Comments, concerns? I've done really well with cardio and strength training, and water (:

I don't know much about it, but I don't personally think it sounds like a good idea. It sounds like your carbs will be too high and your other nutrients will be too low.

What is your ultimate goal? What do you want to accomplish with the fast?

Hey guys, great with the toe push-ups! Well done!

I can't seem to get out of this rut. I've lost no weight and I've become pretty lazy over over the last few weeks (although it doesn't fluctuate as much and I am a constant 123 Ib) . I think being back at work and super busy combined with my commitment to playing in the oztag competition (a modified touch football game) on Tuesday and Wedneday nights has really taken its toll! But no more excuses!

I really want to start going for my runs again, get 1-2 weights sessions in a week and get my pilates fix but there are not enough days in a week!!

I'm also finding that MFP logs my calorie burn a lot higher than it actually is... I think this may have something to do with my resting heart rate being pretty low to begin with (62 beat per minute) and me needing to push myself harder/faster.

I need to prioritise, focus and push!

Here's the aim (maybe this will keep me accountable)

Monday- 5km Run (3 miles) + home weights
    Tuesday- Oztag (cardio)
    Wednesday- Oztag (cardio)
    Thursday- 4.30pm Pump (weights)
Sat or Sun- 5km Run and Pilates (either at 3pm Randwick gym or 5pm Maroubra gym)

I always seem to be able to do the cardio stuff but really struggle with the getting motivated to do the weights!!

    Wish me luck!

GOOD LUCK ljbhill!!!! You can do it Girl!!!!

Val-Holy crap...I know we have been talking about the challenge coming to an end but HOLY CRAP its over Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!

I took some prelim measurements this morning and I am happy......

I'm taking the week off from my ab and circuit routines (just doing cardio and strength), I plan on starting Ripped in 30 on tuesday and maybe C25K AGAIN...my ankle is better, still not 100% but very close, I have been able to push it on the treadmill without any pain....we will see how the running goes. Next week, I'm back to two workouts a day. I don't plan on doing ripped in 30 everyday, decided to take a day off in between to do some yoga. When I did the 30day shred my muscles retained so much water, I ended up gaining a lb a week, so I figure I can offset it by taking the break????

My calories were ridiculous monday.....I was a bit hungover so I decided to treat myself to a soft pretzel in the morning, then remembered I was doing a market research food tasting that night, UGH....oh well, weight seems to be holding!

    How is everyone this week???

K -- Week is going well, except for not enough sleep. That always seems to be the prob. ;X

I'm doing well with the deficit for the weekend, but I'm SUPER hungry tonight. I might just eat all of my exercise cals back (like usual), but we'll see. It was a good foodie day (as usual) but I still feel like I'm always hungry on days that I exercise. Bah.

I have this grand idea that the morning after the wedding, I'll use the gym in the hotel to do a nice run (since I don't have a treadmill at home and HATE running outside in the city...with crazy traffic and cat-calls), but that all depends on the level of debauchery the night before, haha.

    And you? <3

I am NOT carrying any kind of deficit this week.....its amazing how I can go sooooooo long being determined and have willpower, then some weeks, BLAH I just don't wanna. And this My Friends is one of those weeks.
I should be ok without going over this weekend. I have my nephews bday party and my family always keeps things healthy and lets me know what we will be eating so I can plan accordingly and since I'm driving drinks will be at a minimum.
Got my calipers yesterday, so I'm going to read up and have my husband TRY and measure my body fat saturday.

    xoxo

Well....my week hasn't been that good. I havent been much over calories but I just haven't made the best choices. We really need to get to the grocery store for some fresh fruits and veggies. My diet has been quite high in carbs in place of fresh produce.

I'm really tired tonight and don't wanna exercise tonight.....stomp stomp, whine, whine....

C -- have fun at your friends wedding this weekend! Have a blast!

Kate -- I am super curious to find out how those calipers work out!

LJB -- I think that your plan sounds great! We're here to support you....even after this week! I agree with you --- mfp exercise calories are definitely higher than what you really burn. It might be because of your low resting heart rate, but it may also be because of your tiny size. That's why I love my hrm. But it doesn't sound like you are doing too bad --- oztag sounds like wonderful cardio. Keep us posted :)

    Thanks guys for the support.

V...Tiny frame? I think not! I started at 176 Ib with WW and than lost and was 150 Ib for ages before it starting creeping up again. I'm only 5 foot 2 and have been a size AUS14-16 most my life (US 12/large). My whole life I've been described as big boned and curvy! Tiny frame LOL... I love you!

This week some news!... FINALLY some movement. It's not earth shattering but it is a movement in the DOWNWARD direction. I'm not celebrating just yet because it's only one day. Did my weigh in and finally lost.

    120.8 Ib (54.8kg)

On the other hand I failed at my own challange. There was only oz on the Tuesday and Wednesay. I did nothing Thursday and Friday but I WILL run tomorrow. That is set in concrete!!

Good luck everyone with your weigh in!

Oh my gosh YES congrats on the weight loss Girl, that's awesome!!!

God damn halloween candy.......my husband came home alittle tipsy last night and opened the bag of candy and I housed the tootsie rolls

I know I will not be losing this week.....I've done to poorly to be rewarded. I'm just hoping to keep that .4lb loss from last week, even though that's not looking great. :grumble: Oh well, next week will be better for sure, it MUST be!!!

I find the MFP calories burned is low compared to my HRM.....strange, guess it has to do with resting heart rate???

Happy Friday Everyone! Can't wait to get out of work and hit the gym :)

Boy - I sure fizzled out BIG TIME, didn't I??? Sorry everyone! Was in my funk a lot longer than I had planned. This week, however, I've re-evaluated and am recharged ~ on my way to where I want to be. This morning I weighed in at 151.1 ~ 8.1 pounds from my goal of 143, which I hope to reach before I go visit my cousin in TX mid-December!

Since Monday, I've resumed my [regular] activity, minus the weight training, and have stuck to my meals (planned at least a day in advance) and in these past 5 days have lost 2.2 pounds. It's amazing what a person can accomplish when they focus, move a little and cut out the "crap" for a few days!! The pillowy-pooch I was starting to develop has already started to deflate! (YAY!)

Ordered 30 DS yesterday to hopefully start next week ~ kick things into high gear & shake things up a bit.

For those of you who have stuck it thru the challenge to the bitter end - you should be applauded!! **Clap, clap** I, I hang my head in shame.....

Best of luck to EVERYONE in their final weigh-in & measuring on Sunday! XXXX
