I hope that works. If it doesn't, then hopefully someone with knowledge will fix it
One place I really want to go is:
Scotland! And Ireland. Everything is so old and I want to see castles!
A bad joke:
What happens when you cross a turtle and a porcupine?
***A slowpoke!***
As for my name... it's Sarah but it was almost Mary Jane. Thank GOD they went with Sarah. I can think of a million horrible jokes for Mary Jane >.<
How is everyone doing with their exercise?? So far I'm at 125 minutes for the week but I should be adding 100 more in the next three days. Jillians 20 minute workouts are SO easy to incorporate into my day.
Haha, I have to share that joke. I haven't counted my mins yet. I think I'm close if not already there. The water needs work though. I only drink water but I don't drink very often.0 -
Hey everyone,
I got in a GREAT workout with my trainer today, 60 min. I lost the 8lbs, and am under my calories!! Today has been a GREAT DAY!!
I LOVE the slowpoke joke!! made me laugh out loud!
I am so excited for this time around for my journey, I have a lot of confidence right now that this will go VERY well!! I am looking forward to next weigh in!
Hope you all are doing well today!0 -
Yeah picking one place is hard. I have so many too. I loved NYC! I wanted to move to NYC since I was 13. I was obsessed with NYC during middle school and high school. I remember people telling me well have you been there? If you haven't I bet you'd change your mind. When I was 19 I was finally able to go and LOOOOOOOOVED IT! I told people I don't know what your problem is but I still loved it. The people that I ran into at least were super nice. To be honest, they were nicer than Chicago. I went to school and work out in Chicago right now so I thought New York was nicer lol.
I so want to go. I've seen people on here saying it wasn't what they expected or they didn't like it - but I would love to go. London is a bit mental so I'm certain I would be alright!!
Hmm, yeah I've had the same reaction. I don't know what people would expect lol. I would have that reaction to Paris. According to my cousin it smells like pee everywhere since you have to pay to use the restrooms and noone wants to pay. I don't know if she was so traumatized later on she denied every saying that, but she's always been strange to me. LoL
There is such a thing as Syndrome de Paris. Which seems to particulalrly affect those from Japan. There have been reported stories where Japanese tourists have had to be hospitalised and repatriated after visiting Paris! Although I wouldn't trust my sources on that one.0 -

i'm catching up on the exercise. instead of doing occassional monster sessions, i need to do shorter ones more often. but because of work and kids, that's not happening at the mo. i'm doing ok with water- it's easier for me to drink heaps when i'm working, and i can control my diet better at work too- less chance to munch.
i've heard of that Parisian syndrome too- something to do with the disappointment of how normal Paris is distresses Japanese people to the point of despair!
i'd probably like to do the wonders of the world. i'm lucky in that i've already done a fair bit of travelling. i'd like to trek Macchu Picchu (?sp). TBH, i'd go anywhere i haven't been before. and i'd go back to some places i have! i loved Vegas, but could only cope with it for a few days. and i'd like to take my hubby to Rarotonga and Aitutaki- awesome snorkelling.
anyway, i'll catch up more on this soon. i've got to go shower- i've just finished a 90 min workout and i'm humming!0 -
1. What is one place you haven’t traveled that you would love to go to?
I would love to go visit the Oregon coast and maybe take a whale watching tour in the pacific while there!
2. Do you know any jokes? If so, tell us one.
Did you hear the one about the agnostic dyslexic insomniac? He stayed up all night wondering if there really was a dog.
3. Do you know how you got your name?
I was named after one of my mom's dearest friends from college.0 -
Hi all, here are my responses:
1. What is one place you haven’t traveled that you would love to go to?
Italy, especially Sicily to visit the village my great grandfather was born in or England because I'm a complete Anglophile. I loved seeing people responding to this question with NYC as I live within a 45 min drive outside of the city - I take one road right in - and I always take it for granted even though I LOVE going in.
2. Do you know any jokes? If so, tell us one.
None that I can think of that wouldn't get flagged by MFP.
3. Do you know how you got your name?
I was named after an ex-girlfriend of my father's from when he was a teenager that always held a special place in his heart. My mother liked the name too so she was cool with it. My mother is clearly a saint. The only downside for me is that I was born in the 70s and given a name that was popular in the 40s so I've always felt that my name (Sharon) is a bit like Ethel or Mildred and older-sounding because I've never really met anyone my age with it - they're always my parents' age.
On a completely unrelated note....
My hot water heater is taking its last breaths so showering today is not an option. I think it's finally time I joined the gym that is literally 10 minutes from my house AND on the way to work. I had checked it out months ago - small, friendly, very clean, reasonably priced, they limit membership so it doesn't get too crowded, and no meatheads, really - but didn't do anything about it. The gym thing isn't really me but I have to change my thinking on that one. It has a lot of negative associations in my mind so if anyone has some pearls of wisdom to help me get over myself, please share.
After watching my food intake for the last 3 weeks and losing only 1.5 lbs, I'm pretty convinced that the gym is a needed step at this point. I just don't wannnnnnnaaaaa... (starting to whine....sorry...)
Funny how the thought of working out at a gym isn't enough for me to join, it's the hot shower that does it.0 -
Don't get discouraged, Sherie! Yes, exercise is a healthy option for you but 1.5lbs in 3weeks is actually quite normal. If I eat 1200 calories I'm only supposed to lose .8lbs a week. At least that's what MFP says for me.
So YAY for including exercise and if you have an opportunity, Jillian Michaels DVD's are fun! Good luck!0 -

Oh wow how awesome about machu picchu which by the way I had to google to see how in world to spell it lol. I loved Vegas too but like you, couldn't handle it for long. It was so hot I went in Aug and I'm actually allergic to the sun sooooo that was always a blast being outside lol. I still loved it though.0 -

LoL I haven't joined a gym either. Idk I'm not into hot people sweating and what not around me lol sorry if I made it worse. I can't say that I wouldn't join ever. I just don't find the need right now. Sounds like your gym is pretty cool. You can do it! However, don't waste the money if you won't make it there because then you'll really not like the gym0 -

Hahaha funny joke0 -
Hope everyone is having a good day!! I got in 45 minutes of exercise, I planned on doing the elliptical, then changed my mind and jogged/walked 2 miles. Then I did some core work!!
My water is coming along great too!!
I am full of energy today as well, I like how I feel when I am eating healthy and exercising regularly!!0 -

Thank you so much! I did go, and it was actually a lot of fun! Working out at home isn't an option for me as I don't have the space so if I'm going to exercise it's got to be outside of the home. Since I live in a wooded area I'm too paranoid about jogging/walking (I'm a chicken that's very afraid of creeps, weirdos and black bears. There are more bears in my neighborhood than creeps and weirdos but all it takes is one of any of them and I'll never exercise again). So the gym was PERFECT and I'm actually looking forward to going back. It was 1.5 hours of me time, which is new.
And I got a nice hot shower. :-D0 -
So I did the elliptical for the first time yesterday... I'm dying. My core hurts, my hamstrings hurt, it hurts to bend over, my shoulders are tired...
I'm going to have to do that again. Next week0 -

You didn't make it worse . It was actually one of the better hour-and-a-halfs (?) that I've had in a long time. I learned I'm not too old a dog to learn new tricks and that about half of Ke$ha's album is really good to workout to. So it was a good experience. :-D0 -
Tried to reply, wouldn't let me (on the old place). So glad we started another.
1. What is one place you haven’t traveled that you would love to go to?
Egypt, I want to see the pyramids, so badly
2. Do you know any jokes? If so, tell us one.
What do Disneyland and viagra have in common? You stand up for hours for a two minute ride.
3. Do you know how you got your name?
From a book, same way I found my daughter's as well. That's kinda cool now that I'm thinking about it.0 -
Mrs. Blobs: I love how you described the blossom, now I want to see it too!
Silvercivic: what a great way to keep two different family members happy, by combining names!
MissD89: that knock knock joke was my daughter's favorite, she never could get it right, but I heard it several times a day for what I swear was a year. I loved Hawaii!
bonjour: I love Vegas too! I go about 4 times a year, sometimes for up to a week, or did before I moved away from California last week.
bethgrayster: love love love the joke, so great!
Shariegreen: agree, your mother is a saint. Sorry about the shower, sucky Glad you enjoyed the gym, I like them some of the times, and feel like working out at home others.
jilleebean: I love how I feel as well when I'm making healthier choices for me. Why was I not on board with this concept all along?0 -

I would love to have my own too, but I am afraid that having one at home, it would become a clothes rack. I like the gym atmosphere, the gym I go to everyone is friendly, not too over crowded where people are waiting/fighting over machines, and people that go there are ALL ages.0 -
So excited to have found this thread!!! I am 5':-) I am adding myself to the roster, please feel free to add me too!!!!
My name is Samantha, I am a stay at home Mom. I have 3 kids ages 9, 6 and almost 3. I started this journey in Feb of last year and I have lost 59 pounds so far and went from a size 16 to a 6. I still have about 10-15 pounds to go until I think I will be happy with my weight. My goal is 110-115. I work out 5-7 days a week and eat about 1200 cals a day.0 -
I cant buy an exercise machine because I'm afraid I wont use it. There's too many excuses just to hop off of it.
But while I'm at the gym I figure "well, I'm already here, might as well do the whole hour". This attitude has not yet extended to actually doing the weights at the gym, though. Too intimidated still.
But thats why I have awesome DVD's to do at home. I still am shocked at how much of a workout they are and how fun they can be. I always thought it was weird when people would say they used an exercise tape. Now I know!
WELCOME to the newbies!!!0 -
Some of the jokes are....
Keep 'em coming!!!!
Welcome all newbies, settle in and make yourselves at home. The rosta is here if you haven't already

I am joining the gym debate. My local one has a £99 for three months offer at the mo and I'm tempted. But, what I don't want to happen is to hand over my cold hard cash and end up with the equivalent of the exercise bike clothes hanger. In other words, it'll be no use unless I do actually use it and I just don't know. :ohwell:
I think I'll pop down and take a look, included in that price is swimming and all classes (zumba, spin, pump etc.). It would be nice to get away from things and get a change of scenery....hmmmmm.....don't know.......
As for Machu Picchu - yes please!!!0 -

WELCOME to the newbies!!!
To get in toning you don't HAVE to use weights, there are many other ways to use them too. If you check out other sites for exercises for women you might find some ones that intrest you.0 -
Hello Everyone!
Let's not forget to log in our exercise and water intake by the end of your day. Good luck!0 -
1. What is one place you haven’t traveled that you would love to go to?
IRELAND! It's where my ancestors are from and I've always wanted to go!
2. Do you know any jokes? If so, tell us one.
I don't think I know any appropriate jokes...I think mine are all pretty...naughty
3. Do you know how you got your name?
My first name (Heather) that was my mom's besst friend's name at the time so she named me after her, then my middle name (Suzanne) is my mom's first name...no she's not conceded lol0 -
Hiya guys!
so, i'm not in a gym either. i work shifts, and as much as i'd love to do the classes i just can't because of work. that's why i started running. it was something i could do more on my own terms. there are still challenges with it though- like when it's dark early in winter, and the heat during summer. but i try hard to work around that. and i'm still convinced that because i'm so short, even though i cover the same distances as others, i actually have to run further because my legs have to go twice as far.
i have an elliptical in the garage that i use pretty often, especially when it's raining outside. i really like it- i mostly do interval training on it on a hill setting. i've only ever used it on the hill program, and i'm grateful for that now! but the best bit is that i picked it up for $20nzd on trademe (like ebay).
right now, i'm bidding on a treadmill. i seem to have alot of excuses at the mo not to do stuff, so i need to break that by having a way around most of the excuses i have! you'd think there would be more pressure applied since i'm running a half marathon next sunday! but i've done a few longer runs and pretty much no short ones. oh well, i'm sure it will all be fine. with running, once you've been going for a bit it's not too hard to keep going- getting started is the tough part.
my diet has been crap, so i'm not expecting to have lost any weight this week. i might even wait to weigh in for a little bit. my goal is only a few kgs away, but i can't seem to shift anything and i'm getting disillusioned. but i do know why i'm not losing- i'm not moving enough and i'm eating too much! it's doing something about it that's tricky :-)
i am quite embarrassed though- i'm from the UK (Liverpool), and i've never been to france or ireland. and i lived in newcastle for 3 years, and have only been to scotland twice! it's a bit shambolic, aye! i live in new zealand now, and i've learned that i don't necessarily need to go on a plane to go on a holiday! i'm interested in seeing all of new zealand, then i can think about going further. it's nice to be a tourist in your own country.
i know no clean jokes. not a single one.
and i got my name (Joni) because my mum originally called me Jodi, but there was a baby in the next cot with that name, so she mixed it up a little. and apparantly the page 3 topless model in the paper that day was also called Joni, and a star was born!!!!!
how are we all doing? is everyone doing well?
i hope you don't mind, but i just wanted to put the link in for the spreadsheet again so it's easier for me to find and update again :-)
