...gmomlyn i am soooo envious of your consistent losses but also proud of you for sticking it out and working so hard every week...great work......

Thanks for the kind words. I'm just very lucky that the weight is coming off fairly consistently. But just this afternoon, I was thinking how hard this whole weight loss journey is, and feeling a bit sorry for myself that I have to work at losing the weight in the first place! The exercise part I have down, no problem. It's the eating.....especially the portion control.....that is still a challenge for me. I keep finding myself in the kitchen looking for a snack. Then, when I cook something for the family, or my Girl Scout troop like I did tonight, especially if it's something I really like.......I have to really be mindful of just how much I'm serving myself. Boy, do I wish I didn't have to do that! Years ago I could eat as much as I wanted, and never worry about gaining weight. Not so anymore. So it's a challenge for me everyday to make not only good choices but to be especially mindful of those portion sizes. So far so good.
BTW....I see from your weight loss ticker that you already lost so much weight! Wow....good for you! And....I hope you have a super good loss to report next week especially since you've been working hard at it! Have you peeked at the scale at all these past 4 weeks? If it were me, I probably would have caved and snuck a peek by now. I'm like a little kid....not knowing would drive me crazy! :)

i went to jenny craig on 9/29 and had measurements done and jumped on the scale then too...on their scale 4 days after i reported 174.2 i was at 176??? i have jumped on the scale at the Y once during this time but it was after a workout and water and food at the end of the day and i was right around my 174 from the end of september...

i actually gave MY home scale to my neighbor after i weighed in at the end of september so i have NOOOO idea what it will read on the 31st...i'm excited and nervous but honestly it WILL NOT DEFINE ME....i have done everything right this month with food and exercise with an occasional treat and at this point right now the number on the scale will not tell me where i'm at...i just started a 1/2 marathon training program where i'm building up my distance for the princess half marathon at the end of february....i started the new rules of lifting for women program that will last me 6 months....i'm counting on getting toned and lean and if the scale moves it moves if it doesnt oh well, i'm doing the work and in the end that is ALL that matters to me...i am sooooo happy i have come to this point after almost 4 years on this journey....being able to recognize my strengths and my successes FAR OUT WEIGH what the damn number is on the scale....and besides, lol, i'm constantly having people tell me i dont look like i'm in the 170s so you know what, who cares what i weigh if i dont look like what i weigh lol....if that makes sense....

i wish you all the best this week and hope you have fabulous losses.....

Hey everyone, sorry that I missed weigh in! i had an unexpected trip out of town and no scale to weigh in on! Looks like there were some good losses this week.

kcthatsme: I am flying out to Vegas tomorrow and will be gone again for next Monday's weigh in. Should I post my weight tomorrow to replace next Mondays (31st)?

    Thanks!

julidav - Good news about your mom and yay for being able to sleep in your own bed. :-)

Amandajean1105 - Yes. Please post your weight tomorrow.

bellamia88 - Yes, time for a new scale. :-) Maybe you are actually lower in your weight than you think. If not, here are my ideas...

    1. Make sure you are consistently eating more that 1200 calories a day (unless you're zig-zagging) and that you are definitely staying in all of your green numbers. Even for carbs, fats, protein and sodium.
    2. Zig-zag your calories like this: http://www.simplysixpacks.com/calorie-calculator/
    3. Make sure you drink at least 6 cups of water a day. More is better.
    4. Since you are exercising, do you eat some of your exercise calories back? That works for some.
    5. Take a good quality prenatal multivitamin. Sounds odd, I know. I read it somewhere and it seems to help. The one I use is called Belly-Bar and it's chewable. I order it online from Vitacost. I also take 5000 mcg of Biotin. I think the one I get (from Vitacost also) is by SelectSource and is also chewable.
    6. Stay away from alcohol. It lowers your metabolism by something like 75%. I don't remember how long it lowers it but you don't need that problem right now.
    7. Try upping your calories. I have had weight loss stall by eating too little as well as stall by having my calories a little too high.

Since you have already lost weight, I would really suggest you go back to those weeks that you were losing consistently. Make a spreadsheet where you input your daily calories, daily water, daily workout time and what it was, how much you lost in that week. Go back to doing exactly what you were doing during those weeks and see if your weight will start dropping again. Good luck! Please, get a new scale. I have #5.

Well, I am taking an exercise break for the rest of the week. I need a few days to reboot my body. Hours at work have been bordering on the insane, and I allowed myself to put bad stuff in my body that hasn't been there for a long time. To compensate for the bad things I ate and drank, I did extra workouts and ended up getting super dehydrated at work night before last (combination of coffee and diet soda and no water all night). I haven't been sleeping like I need to, or allowing my body time to recover. So I'm trying to have a few good days of super good foods and only water and green tea, and getting some rest. Hopefully I'll be back on track beginning of next week.

Hi All! Sorry I've been so MIA. Life has been hectic to say the least.

I think a big part of why I've gotten off track (other than a lack of time & spreading myself too thin) - is stress. Both of my sisters have been expecting. In February of 2009, I almost lost my youngest sister to a severe hemorrhage following the birth of my niece. It was AWFUL. They had a priest in the room just as they rushed her out to the OR. Having them both expecting, the closer we were getting to the due date, I try not to think about it, but it's always in the back of my mind.

On the good news front, my one sis had her twins this week. All is well (for the most part). My nephew was born feet 1st, and swallowed a bunch of fluid along the way. They put him on IV antibiotics last night, and my poor sister is going to be discharged with 1 baby instead of 2 (so if anyone is of the praying / good vibes/thoughts type - I'd welcome any prayers for baby Liam). They get more results tonight to know if he has to have a 72 hour course of IV antibiotics, or a full week (which means he'll be in the hospital longer).

My other sister (the one that had the trouble in '09) is due any day now. I think I'll be able to relax when all mommies & babies are healthy & at home!

Thank you all for your ongoing support (and patience with my fluctuating participation).

Wishing you all a wonderful healthy weekend!

    Hugs,

    Amy

Well it was a bad week, but my body has enjoyed the couple of days of rest. I did stay under my calories on the days I didn't exercise, so I'm hoping when I weigh in that I will have at least just stayed the same and not gained. That's all I ask :) Also will do a restart of week 7 of C25K starting tomorrow :D

I have decided to change my ticker to the weight that I have lost altogether since I started my weight loss journey instead of just since I joined MFP. I figure I have worked hard to lose that weight, I want to see it on my ticker too!

This is my first gain since starting this challenge, I was really bummed about it but then I had a NSV. I've had my "skiiny jeans" in my closet for quite a while. Well today I decided to pull them out and try them on, the 18 was way to big, the 16 fit better but still loose. I'm exited about that! I didn't meet my 2nd mini challenge, but after today I feel much more focused and I want to achieve my goal!

Thanks! I clearly needed the rest. I'm thinking that since I only have 7 more pounds to lose, doubling up C25K and 30 Day Shred may be too much for me considering the hours I work. I'm going to ease back into things this week by restarting week 7 on C25K and then adding a bit of strength training. Jillian may be too much at this point lol, she is fierce.

Also Shick I have to say thank you. I think at least twice now you've had something positive to say in response to my posts. It's always nice to get feedback and encouragement, and this is such a great place for that. I read in a fitness magazine somewhere that support on a website like this is way more effective than in person support!

Sorry I've been so silent. I'm actually out of town visiting my sweet granddaughter! I will be home some time tomorrow but probably won't have the chart up until some time on tuesday since I'll have a visitor tomorrow night. I've read what's been written and I have lots of comments but they'll have to wait until I'm home. Thinking of you all and wishing the best for you! Happy halloween!
