I have NO idea why after 2 weeks my body decided to lose 5.1 pounds but I will take it! No, I wasn't sick and yes, I ate normally even had my son's bday party yesterday, lol. But that puts me at just a little over 2 pounds till I reach the Hubba Hubba end goal and more importantly (to me anyways) I'm now just about 12 pounds away from no longer being considered obese! Yes I am still considered obese even after losing ALL this weight....grrrrr! But I'm thrilled to be this close:) Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

The fact that I have a loss for this week has nothing to do with how I ate this weekend. Our power finally came back on Friday evening, so things should have gone back to normal over the weekend. Instead I ate too much and didn't exercise at all.

Saturday was shopping with one of my daughters and her kids and we ate an enormous lunch at a Mexican restaurant. I tried to be good, really, but I probably ate 2 whole days worth of calories in 1 meal! Then I went with them to see Puss in Boots. I sat next to my 5 year old grandson. Big mistake!!!! I ended up holding his theater snacks for most of the movie....which meant me eating a bunch of popcorn, and half a box of chocolate covered raisins, and drinking a lot of his slurpee thing.

Then on Sunday, I was determined to have a better day. And I did until the late afternoon. I had to go with my youngest daughter to her college for nursing orientation. She already has her BS in Psych, but she decided to go back to school for her BS in nursing. So.....I got to her house in the late afternoon and offered to buy her husband and kids, and 2 of my other grandchildren that went with me, dinner before my daughter and I left for orientation. They wanted Chinese take out....so my SIL went to pick it all up. The plan for me was that after orientation, my daughter and I would catch dinner somewhere before I left for home with my other 2 grandchildren. Well... orientation took a whole lot longer than we expected (and it cost me $$ cause I ended up buying my daughter her uniform components at the orientation).....anyway, afterwards it was getting late, so we just went back to her house after making a quick stop at Dunkin Donuts so she could bring her husband a coffee back.....and of course, I bought 2 boxes of donuts - one for my one daughter's house and one for my other daughter's house. So, the moral of the story is this..........never drive around with a box of donuts in your car when you haven't eaten dinner. Yep....on my way back home (and it's a 40 minute drive) I ate donuts.

Oh well. It's a new week and it's going to be a good one! I'm going to make sure it is! Good luck, everyone!

This weekend was rough. My best friend from college came up to visit and let's just say no calorie went uneaten. But I have big plans for this week -- I spent all day yesterday preparing my meals for the week so nothing will be left to chance. I'm feeling good about this week!

Just to confirm all the posts on weight lifting, strength training.
As we age, we should definitely be doing this. Our muscles
start to decrease over age. I started weight lifting and strength
training after joining MFP. I have felt stronger from doing this.
I am 62 and still lift weights at least once a week. I probably
should do more but time doesn't permit more right now.
This is along with my other exercises I also do everyday.

Start out slow and work your way up. Be careful because you can
injure yourself if the weights are too heavy for you.
I do a DVD right now for 25 mins and that is enough for me.

My weekend away was enjoyable and good thing I gave my
weight on friday because I am up a couple pounds due to
sodium and such. I will get down again.

Have a great week everyone not too much time left to get it done.

  • Hi everyone!

I'm looking back on the last few weeks, and I'm so incredibly proud of what this group has accomplished: both in losing weight (keeping healthy) and supporting each other.

Just an update: I'm back in the 110s, but I'm currently eating back exercise calories and cutting back the time spent in the gym. So any and all weight loss at this point is completely, 100% healthy. Thank you all for the support when I started my downhill slide into anorexia. I'm trying to keep healthy now for all of you!

Congrats to Cathyl3 and Chirron40 for getting into the 170s!

Congrats to Cathyl3, kcthatsme, alisons7598, Scarlettdawn764, jllipson, and gmomlyn for being this weeks biggest losers!

Congratulations to gmomlyn for being our overall biggest loser of pounds and percentage! Over 25 pounds lost... Woo hoo!

alisons7598 - As this week's biggest loser of pounds, would you please give us our mini challenge?

Thanks to all of you who have stayed with our challenge. Of those that are still here, we've lost 289.3 lbs, as a group, in 9 weeks! I think that is FANTASTIC!!

I'm having a really hard time thinking up a mini challenge:( The only thing I could think of is with flu and cold season here, making sure you get plenty of vitamin c ( and other vitamins too of course) be it through the foods you eat/drink or even taking a vitamin supplement to help, getting plenty of rest, and making sure you get your water in daily so that we can stay as healthy this winter as possible. I know I'm really bad during the winter about these things.
