  • You can do it, I know that you can, and don't ever give up.

If you mess up one day, then start anew the next day as if its a new beginning for you.

And then my signature says it all too.

Be consistant with healthy eating - avoid cheating more than once a week. Exercise and mix up your routines - keep the body guessing.

Reach for healthy foods, try to exercise a least 5x per week, and do no get discourage for any reason!
  • Everything looks good so far, but for me I would continue to use this site. I lost 30 pounds and now gained 15 back due to not logging my food. Everytime I log-in to this site it helps establish my day, making me think twice before going to the break room and stealing a snack. Besides working out and cardio I would simply pay a lot more attention to what you put into your body. Thats what is working for me already lost 5 pounds..:))

you decided to start this "new eating habbit" to get somewhere with yourself, wether it be health or just a smile when you look in the mirror! everyone has days where they feel discoraged or just feel like giving up. DONT!!! if you do youll end up being in the same situation later on down the road, (when you coulda been where you wanted to be already), log EVERYTHING, EVERYDAY!! it helps you get prespetive of everything your eating, (even on those not so good days). this is what ive learned and i know alot of others have experienced :flowerforyou: , keep on goin, you can do this

Watch your sodium intake, drink lots of water.
Find a variety of exercising programs that you enjoy doing and change it up. That leaves you options to do something different.
This is a lifestyle change with no ending date. Enjoy the ride, it is well worth it.
Look for the little things that are happening when you think nothing is. You will surprise yourself in what you find!

Get a heart rate monitor and use it to guide your exercise. That really helped me keep my exercise at a good strong pace without overdoing it and burning out.

"Unless you puke, faint, or die; keep going" Jillian Michaels

Some super skinny model once said nothing tastes as good as skinny. She lied...plain and simple. Part of maintaining this lifestyle is knowing that sometimes that doughnut really was worth every single calorie and one won't destroy you or your diet. It's called a treat for a reason.

log everything you eat (specially at first) drink LOTS of water, DONT drink your calories!! you save a ton just by stopping that, Workout at least 5x a week with at least 30-50 min cardio and make sure you do some strength training to reshape your body and to burn even more calories even while resting!! Engage with the MFP community as much as possible and make great friends with people who are pretty educated! take others suggestions and advice, you would be suprised how much you can learn and pick up from other members on here =) Stay focused on your goals and on yourself, stay positive and consistent with your actions. Be PATIENT! If you have a bad day, dont dwell on it and get back on track right away the following day and move on instead of letting yourself feel defeated! you can DO THIS =D

    1) Dont beat yourself up when you fall off the waggon, tomorrow is another day!
    2) Try to move your body every day for at least 30 mins - whether its a walk, gardening, housework, dancing, playing hopscotch, anything! Just get off that couch and move your butt!
    3) Drink lots of water

Most importantly, stay positive and never ever give up.

  • Don't allow yourself any cheat days, exercise every single day, if you have to have cake or wine at a dinner or something just have a very small piece (like 1 bite's worth) or half a glass and savour it.

I find cakes and sweets very difficult to eat in moderation so I try to avoid them completely. Once I have a bit, I'm more likely to fall off the wagon completely for the rest of the week/month!
  • BABY STEPS!!!

I used to plan how I'd be by the time I reached my goals, what I needed to do, what I needed to quit (smoking, junk food, etc etc) and so many different things - I'd then get overwhelmed and stop before I'd started.

So now I take baby steps.. One day at a time, I've set myself mini goals to achieve each week and if I don't suceed or maybe close, I still pat myself on the back and aim for a bit more next week. Making small changes as you go along is better for a complete lifestyle change versus a complete upheaval to everything you've been used to..

My best advice would be to not stress too much over food. So what if you have a bad day here and there? It happens. However, one bad day isn't a reason to go into a weeks/months/years long tailspin. Get back on track the next day. As long as the majority of your days are good days then it's okay. If it's your birthday, anniversary, or weekend out of town, etc. enjoy it. A day or two didn't make you overweight and a day or two won't ruin you healthy efforts either. What's the point in getting healthy if all you do is set around miserable worrying about food? Enjoy life and the occasional indulgence.
  • I didn't do any exercise. i just tracked every calorie and kept my cholesterol low - which is bad news for cookies, cake and meat!

best tip. always have a snack to look forward to. I always have 200 calories of dark chocolate at the end of the day when i sit down to watch some tv.
  • the best advice ive been given is that you dont have to wait til tomorrow to "restart" if you slip up. Dont ruin a whole days diet because of one mistake. Mistakes are fine, but ruining a whole day/week because of them isnt!!

  • For me the best advice I can give is that you really need to get your head around the fact that there is no quick fix. You need to be in it for the long haul, it will take 6 months to a year to get where you want to be. That obviously depends how far you need to go but if you are very large like I was the weight will come off quickly to begin with.

Don't even attempt to start until you are prepared for the long journey ahead, you will get there it just takes a very long time.

There is no one magic thing that works. You have to change the way you do things every six weeks otherwise you get bored and your body gets used to whatever it is you are doing. So have a variety of exercises, not just the gym, and I think also vary your calorie levels.

Why give up today when you have come so far.

    Challenge yourself evey day

If you feel like ducking out of a workout , go do it anyway and work harder

You will never regret working out.

Stop trying to me someone else, be a better version of you.

oh god thats a hard one, i'm a bit rubbish at giving advice so i'll just go ahead and quote somethings i read that help me.....

"you cant get much done in life if you only work on the days you feel good"

when your mind asks "can i really do this?" reply out loud with "ABSOLUTELY"
