Are you a hugger?
In my culture we hug a lot with family and close friends, but there are some people who are just huggers with EVERYONE. So do you hug or do you avoid it at all costs?

I am a hugger for sure0

It depends on the other person. If they open their arms and lean in, than I go for the hug. If they offer their hand, than its just a handshake.0
-
depends on the person. i like to hug my hugger friends, but not my nonhugger friends.
i also like to hug when i am dating, and i like to hug my pet pigeon when i have him >.<
for some reason i feel odd hugging my mom and family-like friends though haha...i think because i was very shy as a kid so i ddnt hug them for so many years that yeah ^-^y0 -
I hug I am a very huggable person ^-^0

I hug! I'm hugging you right now! hahaha0

With friends and family yes. Strangers and adequateness, no.0

A hug = a handshake for me
Hugs just come naturally0 -
This is kind of a weird subject for me because I used to be a hugger, and then something changed and I guess I became more aware of other people's personal spaces or something... I'm not adverse to hugging by any means, I guess I'm just not typically in a warm, hug-friendly environment.0

I used to be, but then at college there was an overly huggy girl who found out I liked hugs, so she decided we were going to hug every time she saw me. It was a small college of a few hundred people, so it was several times a day. I am officially hugged out. Except my husband, my kids and a few select friends, I do not offer hugs. Oh, and my parents whom I don't see for months at a time.0

I'm not a hugger. I also am a 25 year survivor of mental, emotional, and physical abuse. I don't like anyone touching me unless I know and trust them.0

No hugging for me especially with the opposite sex unless it is my wife, my mother or my sisters or niece. The developmentally disabled are excluded from my no hugging policy though.0

someone i know well..? If they go to hug...im a hugger for sure . If i have been DRINKING...EVERYONE gets a hug. like it or not0
-
I'm a hugger with people I know relatively well. Otherwise I might do a half-hug/pat on the back thing LOL.
Drinking brings out more hugs.0 -
i love hugs but having had a very non huggy childhood they arent something thqat comes very easy for me.
they used to make me feel very uncomfortable even when i wanted them but now i dont tend to freak out anymore when someone gives me one.
I wish i was more naturally inclined to give them because they are fantastic and I do crave them.0 -
No hugging unless you are family or a good friend. Like a pp said, I'm a great hand shaker. I'm all about personal space!0

I am a polite hugger. Since I think that hugging is very personal and a sign of affection, I always ask first. "You need a hug?" "Can I give you a hug?" I prefer to be asked before someone starts hugging me and don't like to be hugged by new acquaintances, but old friends are open season as far as I am concerned.0

I am not a survivor of abuse, but I still don't like anyone touching me unless I know and trust them! I just can't stand it and I am especially physically repelled when people I don't like or trust try to come in for a hug! It's cringe-worthy!!! I'm a little standoffish, but little kids and friendly animals can have as many hugs as they want (I hate it when people force themselves on kids and pets), and I absolutely adore hugging my husband. It's one of my favorite things to do.0 -
No. I'm not someone who hugs a lot and honestly? I prefer to not be hugged unless you are my significant other, best friend, child, or other close family member.
I'm not anti-hug, I just have a personal space issue and hate when people invade it.
Someone mentioned a handshake.. please.. do not offer your hand to me. I will cringe and try to find a way to avoid touching it. You can wave, say hello or whatever - but please.. skip the rest unless I know you, like you and trust you.0 -
Oh man! I WISH I was a hugger! But for me, I reserve touchy moments like that for special times, or for very close friends and family. I suppose you could say I'm not a touchy person, although I LOVE affection. It's a kind of weird line.0

I am a hugger SOMETIMES. When I was in school I had a closer group of friends who I always hugged, but now I hardly ever get hugs. If somebody wants a hug, I am all for it but its not automatic for me.0
-
You can't underestimate the power of a hug. I live for them!0
-
Yep I'm a hugger fortunately so is my partner and both my girls!0
-
I love hugs and to be affectionate but don't do it if you have a jealous girlfriend0
-
Oh yes - I am a hugger - tonight I met two friends of a friend - by the end of the night they each got a goodbye hug as well ;-)0
-
I am a natural hugger - not with family so much, only my children - as my upbringing didnt include many hugs -
my dh is not a natural hugger - I so wish he was0
