Are you a hugger?

I'm a hugger!! I hug my friends, my family, my work mates, I hug people when I'm happy, people who are sad. I am also a big believer in the platonic couch snuggle I always try to remember some people aren't has happy with hugging - don't want to make them feel uncomfortable but it feels very normal to me0

We're going to hug this out......................................0

I hug my husband and family all the time. I feel awkward hugging anyone else. I don't know why0
-
I'm a natural hugger - grown up in a non-huggy family, in a non-huggy (it's not appropriate) work-place married to a non-huggy wife.
The only thing that get's me through are still cute and are 9 and 11 year old and atm are VERY huggy.
When they outgrow that I'll have nothing left
So, if they're offered - I'm there !!!
Me thinks I will hit e-Bay to see if there is one of these for me:

Either the pillow or the model - I can't be too fussy0 -
Where I was raised, hugging was limited to:
--Young children (say, 9 or younger) hugging parents and grandparents, occasionally the other way around
--Spouses and significant others hugging each other
--Friends being silly... I think hugging is considered a childlike behavior, except between spouses/ SOs
And it was always a tight hug, never a 'gently wrapping your arms around the other person' thing. Gentle, casual hugs are still foreign to me.
Another thing is that where I grew up, they generally don't hug a crying person. When someone you know is crying, you place your hand on their shoulder(s)/ back, or simply stand around and commiserate silently.
I dislike ritualistic/ casual hugs. The casualness cheapens it. Heartfelt ones are good, though.0 -
I am awkward when hugging people I am not close to/familiar with and generally hate being touched by those who I have not allowed to touch me. I think I used to be a lot worse when it comes to being picky about personal space and all, now I don't mind the occasional handshake or fist bump or whatever. However, if I have decided that I really like you, I'm extremely affectionate and a cuddle monster. >:3 I suppose this only applies to significant others though, it's still a little awkward even with best friends.0

I definitely am a hugger... I just love contact with the people that are close to me, makes me feel good!
But if there is someone I do not feel comfortable with (example: new collague) I hate being touched!0 -
I'm a hugger! That said I don't go around randomly hugging people. But I will hug people I barely know. Maybe I've talked to them a few times online or once before in person. I have a friend I meet online and we hug but I don't hug his wife. I have several clients who I hug and some I don't. I would say it's about 50/50. The ones I hug end up being longer term clients. Might need to hug a few more. :happy:0

It depends. If I know you really well, then I'm totally a hugger. Otherwise, I avoid it.0

I would have been a hugger, but everyone assumes I'm the sort of person you hug under penalty of death. So, being the shy one, I never get any hugs. Which is lame, 'cause I love hugs.0

Definitely a hugger. . Love hugging people. Makes one feel good!:bigsmile:0

I hug my babies all the time, but apart from that.....No, not a hugger.0

Totally agree with you, thank god i'm not alone haha0

Oh man! I WISH I was a hugger! But for me, I reserve touchy moments like that for special times, or for very close friends and family. I suppose you could say I'm not a touchy person, although I LOVE affection. It's a kind of weird line.
omfg damn it i posted my answer like 3 times now haha i still don't know how to use this site! but like i said, i agree with you :P0 -

In my culture we hug a lot with family and close friends, but there are some people who are just huggers with EVERYONE. So do you hug or do you avoid it at all costs?

I hug. I wasn't always a hugger until I realized that it makes people feel better after they've spilled their entire life's stories out on me. So I hug 'em.
It also makes the stranger times when the cart-collector at Target or the little old produce guy who says "I love you" to me a little less strange.0 -
It's weird, I'm a touchy feely kinda gal, like placing my hand on your arm and laughing. But to hug, I only do this at special times. I think it comes from the fact that growing up my family wasn't very demostrative. But as for me an my husband...we hug and kiss every morning, every afternoon and night and a lil sum thin sum thin inbetween...lol we are very affectionate!0

handshakes for the men... hugs for the girls.... idk why im like that I just am... but I dont really hug anyone.... now that I think about it.. o.0 last person I gave a hug to was my Dad. lol and that was a year ago..... : /0

I HATE hugging! hate hate hate hate it ! big fan of personal space!0

Definitely NOT a hugger.. Reading this post has made me think about it and I actually hate people touching me. I actually get a shock if someone touches me.. MMmmmm... Don't know why..
None of my friends would ever try to hug or touch me.. Maybe thats why they are my friends.
This has me wondering now.. Why do I hate being touched so much??
Know I freak out in crowds - not go nuts, but just get extremely frustrated and annoyed being jostled and shoved. I'd always avoid crowded places at all costs. Maybe its just a continuation of that??
No idea.. But definitely would get a huge shock if someone I didn't know extremely well hugged me.. :bigsmile:0 -
i am not very affectionate, actually i am not affectionate at all0

Totally a hugger.
On my business card, at the bottom it says "Free Hugs Upon Request"
(seriously, it really does.)
And I don't go for that one-armed crap. Both arms, baby.
.........................................
BUT: please, no high-fiving! I get like high five PTSD. Fist bump if you must, but no high fives with me.
Hugs or a nice firm handshake.
If you i like you a lot, a peck on the cheek makes me all mushytimes.0 -
I am such a hugger. If you make me smile, you get a hug. If you look like you need to smile, you get a hug. :hugs:0
