Hello, Fellow Walkers.
We are a small group of walkers who use the Leslie Sansone walks for our exercise routine and who post our progress and support each other in meeting monthly walking goals. Although originally a walking group, we have evolved into a very open, free-style support group. Some walk, some do strength training, and some mix it up. Everyone has different schedules and is at varying levels on their weight loss journeys, so you set your own goals; the only one you are competing against is yourself, and the group is here to offer motivation and support.
If you’d like to join, just introduce yourself and post your goals for the month. Check in as often as you can --- daily, weekly, whatever works for you.
The SWaT Walking Team originally stood for Sansone Walking Team (after the Walk Away the Pounds originator) and the name stuck. For those of you not familiar with Walk Away the Pounds (now referred to as Walk at Home), they are walking workouts by Leslie Sansone. There are four moves to each workout (walk in place, kicking, knee lifts, and side steps), and most workouts offer modified movements for a beginner or someone who needs a less strenuous walk. They range from one mile (about 15 minutes) to five mile (about 80 minutes) walks and can be done in your living room right in front of your TV or computer. They are available at Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, etc. They also can be rented from Netflix or downloaded from the Internet, and some cable providers have them available in the Free Zone.
I found this group over a year ago, and it helped to keep me accountable with regular exercise. I lost almost 80 pounds and then let life get in the way and gained back 30. Now I want to lose a total of 60 more pounds. I have committed to regular walking this year and to getting back to a healthier lifestyle.
My goal for January is to walk 60 miles.

Leslie Sansone Videos Online
Here are some videos from youtube:

These 3 equal her 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds for Abs. (You can use light hand weights in place of the walk belt.)
Also:

These 2 are 1 mile each. You can create a playlist if you have an account and then you can play them all consecutively. (I have also recently discovered that I can put them on my RealPlayer (free download) and not download the commercials! This is a much smoother transition even than as a YouTube playlist.)
This is a 15 minute 1 mile walk with the California raisin!:

Scroll down the page and click on the Web video link to the right of the picture.
And finally, here's a link to her 1, 2, and 3 mile Start Walking workouts:

(I had to scroll down the page a bit.)
All these links can be watched and done online.
Another link I came across: her 1-Mile Express walk:

Hi Everyone!
Happy New Year! I'm ready to start giving it that extra umph. I'll set my goal at 60 miles for January.
Does anyone remember how to post your ticker? I tried last month and couldn't get it done. Please help! LOL
Good luck all!

I would like to join my friend Jenny in walking away the pounds with this group! Last year, January through April was the best time to focus on my health goals...so I am ready to go!!0
-
Welcome Doris! Glad you're joining me on this thread!
I went to tickerfactory.com and made an exercise ticker but then couldn't find how to copy it on here. There use to be a signature button where you could cut and paste one in and it would show up on your posts. Does anyone know how to do it now?

I am in for 60 miles in January. I have been walking with Leslie for over 10 years and I'm trying to lose 20 pounds of regained weight. I am also a big outdoor walker, so I will likely rack up some of my miles by walking around the neighborhood. I just joined this site and would love to have some new MFP friends. Please add me if you wish. Looking forward to this challenge. Heading outside in 20 minutes to get it started!0
-
I'm in, i'll aim for 30 miles. I'll have to start tomorrow as i'm still a bit hungover from new years eve. I already have her 2 mile walk and do a couple of her work outs on youtube too.0

I think im gonna check this out!0

Hi SWaT Team and Happy New Year to All! I lost 30 pounds since joining MFP and due to slacking in logging and too much holiday snacking, I gained back 7 pounds. It's a New Year and as you probably have I've rededicated myself to a healthy lifestyle and exercise (can I get a Amen to that!) This group is a great idea as I walk daily and have several of the Leslie Sansone walk-at home videos. I'll pledge myself to 60 miles as well to kick off January 2012---good luck to one and all to meet their personal monthly goals!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I finally put Leslie back in the DVD player after many months and walked 2 miles yesterday. Felt good! I'm 30 minutes closer to my goal!
Jenny0 -
Hello! Good Morning
Im not sure yet what my monthly goal is. Still trying to feel better. So No exercise yesterday or today.
Going back to bed before I have to go to work, be back tonight0 -
just got done with my walk slim five really long miles dvd walked the whole 5 miles for 85 mins0
-
It is SO nice to see all of you! Jenny! I'm so glad you are back!
They took away the signature so we cannot post tickers from other sites anymore. They are supposed to be working on an exercise ticker of their own but it hasn't happened yet.
I have decided to change my goal and I am going to follow the workout calendar at Leslie's Walk AT Home website. It can be found here:
http://www.walkathome.com/walkclub2/index.php/calendar/
You don't have to be a member of the Walk Club to use the calendar--in fact I don't know why I still have a membership. I never renewed mine but my account is still there. I emailed them but nothing was done. I guess I'll enjoy it while I can!
January 1 and 2 workouts done!0 -
Hi everyone! I searched the forum for Leslie Sansone and found this thread. I'm so glad I did! I have the 3 mile start walking dvd. My goal is a minimum of 45 miles for the month of January. I did the first 3 miles last night, and it felt amazing! I really didn't think I could do it! I will admit that I have to modify the kickbacks just a little bit...but I feel that if I keep working, I'll be able to do them effortlessly soon. Great to meet ya'll!0
-
I did my first 2 miles with Leslie yesterday and 1.5 miles on the treadmill today. I think I will start with a goal of 45 miles for January. Only 41.5 miles to go!0

Hi, my name is Sara and I have just joined today. I am familiar with SWaT and have used it at work. I made two resolutions for the New Year: 1) write down everything I eat and 2) exercise every day. I didn't choose weighing in once a week, because losing weight is not my primary goal, but to be healthy and strong are. I have used MFP multiple times in the past, but once I strayed from my goal, I would stop keeping the food diary. It's so easy to fool myself when I don't commit it to paper. I am worried that I won't be able to keep my resolve. I'm really nervous about not sticking with it, but I am going to think of this as stopping smoking. I tried at least seven times before now being smoke free for 20 years. I really want this for me and I think I am beginning to understand that it is a lifelong commitment.0

Since my kiddos went back to school today, I was able to get my workout done this afternoon rather than waiting for late evening. Did Leslie's 3 miles, so that's a total of 6/45 miles for January.0
-
sounds like a great challenge, i love leslie, but also do alot of outside walking with my dog and go to the gym 1-2xs a week. I will shoot for 60 miles this month.....0
