Have you met anyone famous?

  • Most of you won't even know who this is, except maybe a few Aussies.... I studied German at university with Cornelia Rau last year. She didn't say it was her, but we're all 99% sure it was -- it's not exactly a common name, and she looked almost exactly like her (only thinner).

And one of my friends met Rupert Grint. :3

Does Simon Baron Cohen count as 'famous'? Or just his less talented nephew?

I have met Marli Matlin (Deaf Actress), Steven Baldwin. Tracy Bird (country singer) mother was my PE teacher in elementary school and he used to come sing to us before he got famous. Also Clay Walker (country singer) used to come eat at the restuarant I worked at as a teenager.

Dale Winton, in a gay pub in Covent Garden. I told him his eyelashes were fabulous (fake) and he said "you should see my c*ck". Sadly I laughed like Barbara Windsor. My very camp friend dragged me over and introduced me as his wife, which was embarrassing as it was, he must have thought I was dense for not noticing my 'husband's' sexuality (he was wearing a tight t-shirt with Princess on the front.)

I also said hello to Johnny Briggs who used to play Mike Baldwin (only relevant, as the above, to UK people ) at Manchester airport. I was knackered and thought I knew him from somewhere. He said hello back and asked how I was. I waffled a bit as I remembered who he was and got embarrassed, he clearly thought I had a screw loose but was lovely.

Forgot someone, Edward James Olmos while walking out of my high school on a Saturday morning. He was filming in front of our school for the movie Stand and Deliver. Of course there is also Jaime Escalante (RIP), for those who consider him famous....yes he was my Calc teacher in high school.

I didn't actually meet him but in 2007 I was sitting next to Chris Brown (before Rhianna) in Richmond, VA airport and I had no clue who he was even after all the 16 year olds on my flight told me who he was I still had no clue ( they all wanted to know if I touched him). I remember sitting there really ticked off at this kid next to me because he was eating a bag of chips and was brushing his crumbs all over me and for some reason he would not speak to anyone even the people he was with. There was a woman with him I thought may have been his mother and I almost asked her to switch seats with me. Looking back on it I should of know because of all the girls crying (and one asked for his autograph) and the big guy who sat across from us. Oh well I probably still wouldn't know who he was if it happened again, but to my defense I had just flown down to Richmond the 4th time that summer because my father was in the hospital so I hadn't slept much.

These will mainly be known to UK folks and even they may not have heard of some of them!

Status Quo at Schiphol Airport (told Francis Rossi he was my mum's favourite)
Bryan May from Queen in a record shop in Newcastle-upon-Tyne (helped him look for a Miracles album)
Marillion - a friend of mine married Steve Rothery the guitarist
Anna Ford - newsreader - El_Rapido and I sat in the same row as her on a flight from London to Manchester and she offered me her sandwich.
Donald Sinden - he told us a joke on an internal flight in Egypt.
Ricky Warwick - was the lead singer with the Almighty at the time - in the guest area at Donington 1991
Brian Robertson - (was Thin Lizzy drummer) - guest area at Donington 1991
Robin George - sang Heartline (looking very skinny - guest area Donington 1991)
The Quireboys - they used to drink in the pub I worked in in Newcastle.

Ugh, never. I suck at celebrity sightings. And yet, I've dated 2 guys who have both met Steven Tyler while we were dating.

Scratch that...I met that guy from Entourage in SF. I stopped him to ask for directions to a restaurant, and he smiled all slyly. I didn't realize who he was for like 2 blocks. I still have to google him for the name...Kevin Connolly

Back in the day, my Uncle Jack was the station director for 1580AM KDAY in Los Angeles, so there aren't too many late 80's-early 90's rap/hip-hop stars I didn't meet. And that was all well and good, until I had the ULTIMATE:

When I was in 7th grade, my aunt used her giant brick cell phone from the Grammy's to have the NKOTB call me at my house.

:blushing:   :blushing:   :blushing:

No more entries, we have a winner.

Got "live" autographs from Mary Lou Retton, Bart Connors, the tennis playing McInroe brothers, and many others I just can't remember. I spoke to Andrew McCarthy on the phone.

I worked for John Parish (grandfather founded Worth baseball, which partnered with Rawlings and got sold to K2 the snowboard people) He owns a aerodrome, museum of planes, and other stuff. Mad rich. Always chews an unlit cigar.

At the same place I worked for Lamar Alexander (senator of tennesee I believe). Had never seen nor heard of a cordless drill.
    220px-LamarAlexander.jpg

Dean Dillon (wrote country songs for brooks & dunn, kenny chesney, george strait, toby keith) Actually pretty normal.

Barney Hanes (represented exxon oil in the 80s after their oil spill, sr partner in an atlanta lawfirm of 800 lawyers) Spend days upon days tackling weeds in his driveway with every method imaginable.

    This creature. (heidi newfield)
    polls_14_5810_101437.bmp_answer_7_xlarge.bmp

And a number of other country writers, they all came up as a group, none as 'famous' as the 2 i mentioned. I remember about 6 or 8 of them all with their macbooks daily in the lodge writing songs, when they weren't on the beach jamming, or playing by campfire.

They all leased property owned by the first guy on land he owns. They pay about $25,000 annually for it. Some were there less then 2 weeks of the entire year.

The owners son had a cabin worth a good $1million or more, a little ways down the river.
