Yep, it is confusing. I am 5'10" and weigh 168 pounds, but I wear 6-8 in skirts and pants, 4-6 in dresses, and Small and sometimes Extra Small in shirts. I have a low body fat % though and lots of lean muscle mass, though, which makes a BIG difference, as does my proportions (tiny waist, bigger hips and chest).

when i wear skirts i go down to like a size 3-5 or something crazy like that. and i fit a size 8 jean but i tend to get the muffin top if its not the right brand. i want the lean muscle, thats what im lacking. i wont ever be a small jean because i work my legs from tennis and at the gym but i would love to slim down to being comfortable in a size 7..no matter what brand! haha besides that, im not really looking for a specif number although that helps with trying to accomplish my goal. i mainly want more muscle and to make a bikini look good.

I'm 5'10 and I aspire to be 170. I had 128 lbs to lose and I have lost 74 to date. I am working to post pics of me. I haven't posted any in a forum before.
  • What an awesome thread!!! I just joined and so far love this site!! I am 5'11" and weigh 190 lbs, which is the same as I weighed at 9 months pregnant. Looking to get back to 155. Was 145 pre-baby, but do not think this is realistic as I was very, very thin. Love the pics! Very inspirational!!! Congrats to all the awesome people that have reached their goals.

I have some on my page and my blog. Around September I think I posted a comparison photo of before and during. I'm not in the after mode yet.

I find it really interesting that at least a few of the girls who have posted in this thread so far have "after" weights that are higher than my "before" weight, but they look so fabulous! The girls who have said that they're in the 180s, I would never have been able to tell. And they're not the only ones - I've seen other girls on MFP who are tall, 180-190 and they look like supermodels. Why is this? Is it "body frame"? Amount of muscle? I did NOT look as good at 175 as these beautiful ladies who are 180! Or is my scale just busted? :)

I haven't finished reading all the posts yet, so if I'm repeating something someone else said, I apologize...

We tall girls can have a much greater range of healthy weights. For a short girl, having a more heavy skeletal structure might make a difference of 5 lbs. But for a tall girl, with longer bones, the weight difference (just from being big-boned or small-boned) can be over 30 lb. Same with muscle mass. My original weight loss goal was to get down to 150 lb, because that's the weight of a friend I admire. But my doc says that I have a lot of muscle & very solid bones, so I'm carrying almost that much weight just in lean muscle mass, so 175-180 is a much more realistic & healthy goal for me.

Basically, tall women need to be guided more by how healthy they look & feel, rather than the weight the scale tells them.

I'm 6' and as of last week weighed 230. My highest weight was 242.50. I'm trying. Goal weight is 170 and I'm really hoping to reach my goal by Oct 2012. Good luck to all.

As many others have said here, people trip out when I tell them what I weigh, they're like NO WAY. The height helps cover up I guess.

I'm 6'1" and also love these photos! Please add me, I need more tall friends. :) I'm starting again at 198; I originally started in Aug 2011 at 201, got down to 188, then gained back 10 lbs. Ugh! Time to make it happen for real this time!

I'll have to find pics from 2008 when I was down to 170 - those were the days! I'd be happy at 180, but 170 isn't out of reach.

    WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
  • Hey tall girls!! I'm 5'10" and new to the site, I need some friends to help me along! So please feel free to add me!
Right now i'm at 172, and at my biggest i was at 180. I want to get back down to my high school weight of 150
  • Everybody looks great..I am 5'11" and would love more tall friends...especially with an open diary.

I'm 5'11 and 165ish. I wear a size 10 in pants and my hip bones won't shrink so I'll never wear a smaller size. I have a smaller chest but my broad shoulders say medium is the smallest shirt size I'll ever fit in. Super jealous of you tall girls with thin framework.

LOL. I was one of those "tall girls with a thin framework" most of my life. 6', 155#, 25# waist and size 34A bra. But there was no way I EVER fit into a medium!! (Unless you mean men's medium - yeah, I did wear a lot of those.) I didn't even know that medium was a viable option for tall women. Must be that sizing has changed.
  • well I'm 5'11 and just starting out i hide my weight pretty well cause i have super long legs and i wear baggy-ish clothes. my biggest areas are my stomach and my boobs!!! i can't wait for my boobs to shrink!!! lol anybody else have this body type?

I am 5'10". I currently weigh 236. My goal is 180, and I'll reassess from there. In my mid-20's, I got down to 159 for about 10 minutes. ;) I stayed at 165ish for a while. Looking back at pics from that time, I was too thin. I didn't really exercise, though.

Now, I'll be 35 in 3 months, and I hope to be at my pre-pregnancy weight by then (210) and work my way down.

All of these tall before and after pictures are really inspiring :)

You look great! Truly an inspiration to me:-) I'm also 5'8", but still at my starting weight (151.5). I'm wanting to get down to a toned 135.

Can I ask how long it took you and what your workout schedule looked like? Thanks!
