These women arent considered sexy.... Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Mendez are considered sexy now a days and they are curvy.0

After going through my anorexic stage, I became mortified about the decisions I made, and One Tree Hill that season revealed this:
While I understand there are girls out there that are naturally thin and a size zero.... many are not and they starve themselves because they want to get there. It upsets me. I was one of those girls that felt the pressure to look like that... and now, that poster means so much to me. I have a picture in my room to remind me I am a naturally curvy girl and I need to embrace it.0 -
Old Hollywood is definitely more attractive-Jane Russell, Jayne Maynesfield and Sophia Loren were gorgeous as well0

I'm not a size zero, at least not in the stores I shop. Maybe if I went to more expensive stores, I'd wear a smaller size.
I'm typically a size two or a four, though, which isn't far off. I hate to think I'm on the cusp of being a non-person, even though I'm dead in the middle of the healthy bmi. I'm 5'5, 130# and my measurements are 35-25-35.
Bettie Page was reportedly 5'5.5, 128# and 36-23-35. Marilyn was also 5'5.5, with a weight between 118-140# Bust: 35-37 inches Waist: 22-23 inches Hips: 35-36 inches
So really... aside from having smaller waists (remember that girdles were popular then) and (especially in Marilyn's case) a larger cup size, they weren't that much different than this modern day size 2 or 4.0 -

Thanks for looking up their sizes, I was curious. I imagine many people were guessing these women were all in the 6/8/10 range.
And for everyone that keeps posting about what a man wants... I honestly don't care. Everything I am doing, I am doing for myself and to get myself where I want to be physically. None of it has anything to do with trying to be what a typical man finds sexy.0 -
LOL!! That's awesome.0 -
Never I think it's still pretty hot0 -
Women with curves and muscle are awesome... but what about the women with faster metabolism who CANNOT get curves because of their natural physiology (so-called "flat")? Not trying to pick on anyone or start a row, but there are a wide variety of body-types out there, and not everyone can be diva-licious-curvy.0

Heidi is proportion fine...nicole has "MEAT" on her thighs...kiera is sexy! Those abs are kick *kitten*! Kristen isnt skin and bones either....how unfair to judge these women who put in hours at the gyms to get those bodies! Jealous much!0

The bottom row gets my sexy vote!0

I honestly don't think the OP had bad intentions by posting this. I understand where she was going with it. That being said, I don't think all the "ewwwwwws" and "that is disgusting" comments are necessary either. Me personally, I have wide hips, a wide ribcage and broad shoulders so I know that realistically I would not be able to maintain the weight of the first four pics (or even get to that weight to begin with).
I think **flinching for the mean comments back to me** that some of the mean and hateful comments others left are stemmed from jelousy. I (as an overweight person) know the feeling that it is sometimes easier to drag others down to bring yourself up, but I truly hope that these people can find peace within themselves to accept who they are and accept others as they are.
Best of luck to everyone here, no matter what your fitness goals are.0 -

Many people don't realize that Marilyn...the epitome of sexy... was a size 12. Nowadays, that's considered "plus size" in the modeling world!0
-
I'd be extraordinarily happy with any of the women's bodies on the bottom half of that picture--those old Hollywood stars were sexy. (My boyfriend would prefer this look too.) But as my boyfriend has pointed out, it's bad to generalize about what guys like. His best friend's brother loves the gaunt, skinny girls, where he can see their hip bones. -shrug- Everyone has different tastes. Personally, if I were a guy, I'd find the current overly skinny trend extremely unattractive. There are still several gorgeous women in the media, though, who have sexy, womanly curves, and who rock their body in almost anything they wear.0

Actually, if you read my post above, Marilyn was typically around 36-23-36.
According to the size charts at Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch, she'd be a size two in those stores. Granted at 5'5.5" she'd be too short to model, but a size 12 in the 50s and 60s is a lot different than a size 12 now.0 -

At least to me, skinny has never been attractive.... Healthy, with nice curves (bottom row), is sexy.0
-
Totally agree - bottom row = hot!!!
its Hollywood and the clothing Industry's fault..
I know My man doesnt think women look better when they look like either they are anorexic or on drugs!
curves are nice but some women are naturally skinny due to various reasons , but this thread isnt about being "naturally" thin , its about striving to be as skinny as possible and having to starve for it, I feel for actors it must suck!!!0 -
The mechanical value for love/lust is directly proportional to body fat % for either gender. That's why a lot of us are here. We'd like to increase our love/lust factor. I'm getting too big bang theory here I know.
I love the picture above though... the body fat thing is not a female only issue. Women lust after the low body fat men just as much as the men lusting after the low body fat women. At one point in time, rounder figures and higher levels of body fat (not obesity) were much more attractive because if you had a low body fat % you were a ditch digger or common laborer, or just couldn't afford to eat and were therefore a pleb.
Funny how culture changes over time. I wonder what will be attractive in 100 years?0 -
I suspect if the top row swapped lighting and bathing suits with the bottom row, the majority of responses on this thread would be markedly different. It's a damn good thing all of us don't have to worry about cameras snapping pics of us all the time, whether we be fat or thin. It's so easy to sit in judgment over someone else from the comfort of one's computer chair.0

Yep.
I think of Kierra as a modern day Audrey Hepburn. Their height and measurements are almost the same, too. I wonder if people bashed Audrey back in the day they do Kierra.

Heidi is a trainwreck. I actually feel really sorry for that girl and the things she's done to herself.
There's been a lot of pictures of Nicole Richie where she looked terribly thin. This is not one of them.
I don't know how Kirsten Dunst managed to look that bad in that photo. She's actually very curvy, with published measurements very close to those of Marilyn and Bettie Page.

I felt bad for Kirsten and wondered if it was just a bad photo since it seems like the creator of the collage may have been interested in choosing less flattering photos of the top people. Just a hunch. Anyway, here it is, same lady, same day:
http://www.hollywoodtuna.com/images/bigimages/kirsten_dunst_bikini_march_6_big.jpg
She's thin, but not emaciated or "sick" appearing. Pretty normal looking if you ask me although that bikini top style isn't the most flattering on most people. Imagine if these were posed photos like those in the bottom row instead of candid beach photos. I don't think their body types are all that different. Elizabeth looks just as thin as some of the ladies on the top row, but is wearing a very different swimsuit style and may be posed in a more flattering way. Just a thought.0 -

*hope the picture worked*
i understand some people are naturally very slender, but why would girls starve themselves to look like this? I think Elizabeth Taylor looks gorgeous while Kirsten Dunst looks gaunt.
Ok Kiera is naturally tiny, that's obvious by her bone structure.
The Bettie, Shirley, and Elizabeth look very beautiful...HOWEVER I HATE that picture of Marilyn....her weight yo-yo'd like many women and this was during an up swing in her weight but normally she didn't look that thick and nowadays she'd be a size 4-60
