WOOOOW Thank You so much community for all the good advice. First let me say I do not that I have a health issue, which I should of posted. The problem is that my wife keeps buying white bread and keeps forgetting to buy whole wheat and when I'm trying to make a quick sandwich I see white bread. I was trying to figure out what's out there so I can put it on the shopping list so she can buy white bread and bring me something else because she gets so confused in the bread section "Too many types of bread very confusing". Well I'm going to try the suggested advice and see how it works..THANK YOU0

Just eat the white bread, whole wheat isn't any better0 -
Man that looks delicious0

Sometimes I make a little "sandwhich" roll by putting down a slice of deli light swiss, putting low sodium turkey on it, mustard & rolling it up as a low cal snack. Most tortilla's I've found aren't any better calorie wise than low cal light bread by Nature's Own.
I know a friend who does the same with lettuce leaves. She likes the crunch. She just makes a little roll. It helps her avoid eating tons of bread throughout the day.0 -
Now I don't feel bad about eating that Sandwich, of course in moderation. So many options I can't go wrong thanks GALS/GUYS0

Tortillas are high in cals, although they are thinner than bread they are deceiving! Just eat a sandwich if you want, bread is low fat just high carbs so if you stay active you'll be fine and the carbs won't stick around long enough to turn into fat. I hope this helps :-)0

I still eat sandwiches 3 - 4 days a week for lunch. I also use "regular" whole grain (usually 12 grain) bread - not the lite variety - which is 100 calories per slice. By cutting out the mayo and cheese, and substituting brown mustard and lettuce, I can still have whole sandwich (turkey, ham, chicken, etc.), some celery sticks, and some fruit for lunch and stay around 350 - 400 calories total for the meal.
It's not about denying yourself what you want, it's about making smart choices and finding alternatives that satisfy your taste buds and fill you up.
Good luck!
Good advice! :-)0 -
I have eaten bread as I have wanted to within my calorie allowance and it certainly has not stopped me losing weight- and I continue to lose. This while idea of cutting out bread- as with other carbs is an alien concept to me. I personally like whole grain bread as it tends to keep me satisfied for longer- and I buy good bread as it is in a whole different category of its own. I mix it up with other things to keep it all balanced and so that /i don't tire of one particular thing.0

Weightwatchers have their own range in most supermarkets!
They do wraps and pittas for 100 calories each!
I am like you, I loveeee bread, but I cant stop at 1slice, I can eat a loaf to myself haha! So I just have eliminated bread, but I use the wraps/pittas, and ricecakes are lovely too!0 -
these work for me
Wasa - Crisp'n Light 7 Grain Crackerbread, 3 slices 60calories0 -

You can also make bread or pizza dough from cauliflowers.....just google cauliflower crust for so many different recipes.
I'm eating primal, so I'm not eating bread either. This website has lots of different info and recipes.

I love to use whole wheat tortillas. Works great as a substitute. I use it for pizza also.0

Try eating a lettuce wrap instead of a sandwich. They are pretty good. Just put whatever you would put on a sandwich and wrap in large lettuce leaves.0

I eat Weight Watchers whole wheat bread. 40 calories per slice. Or Nature's Own No HFCS Whole wheat for 50 calories a slice. I also use Xtreme Wellness High Fiber/low carb tortilla wraps. They're really good. 71 calories, 12 g fiber, 8 g protein.0

It's better to eat wheat bread than a white bread because it is low in calorie. At the same time don't over eat.

LMAO @ the my wife buys white bread comment.
Ya know, you have the option of stopping by the grocery store and picking up some healthy stuff yourself. :bigsmile:0 -

Broscience
Broscience is the predominant brand of reasoning in bodybuilding circles where the anecdotal reports of jacked dudes are considered more credible than scientific research
What I mean was that Broscience is B.S. basically..sorry for the typo..
I didn't know I typed in Spanish!..LOL0 -

Yeah I should but I don't I'll make that my top do to list!0 -
white bread has a high GI rating, which means it spikes your blood sugar level up high...a lot of carbs like this can lead to fat storage and diabetes. You CAN offset this by eating a High GI rating carb with a low GI rated card b (eg strawberries, raspberries, oatmeal, yogurt, milk, etc) when you eat a High GI food with a low Gi food it gives your meal an overall medium GI rating...proteins and carbs also do this...which is why its important to get protein carbs and fat at every meal. If you can keep your blood sugar level down between 5 and 10, your golden. (the only way to double check that is a blood level monitor, but the majority of your carbs come from foods low on the GI charts....you can be pretty sure you're in check!)0

I read somewhere that an idea to cut out calories with sandwhiches is to do an open faced sandwhich...just one slide of bread.0

LMAO, I hear ya. Its funny, my husband would rather not stop and get a loaf of bread, but if he needs beer, he will make a run in a snow storm (I am teetotaler, 100% alcohol free so I do not purchase it for him)0 -
I LOVE bread as well. I use whole wheat tortillas to make wraps instead of sandwiches and I also eat the Melba Toast for the toast like feel. Doesn't take the place of bread but I know I have to do what I have to do. lol0
-
Just remember, calories come from many different things. Eating white bread to get less calories might actually be worse for you than eating a whole grain with lots of fiber and more calories. Don't skimp on your fiber!0

Not all wheat breads are healthier than white. You need to look for whole grain, nothing enriched or refined. They will have higher fiber and sometimes protein.0
