I've read a couple of articles and seen pictures, people replace their desk chairs with bicycles, exercise balls, or treadmills.

There are those pedals older people can use or from rehab centers, it's tempting to toss one under my desk

i'm a school psychologist ... about half my day is taking phone calls and writing reports, the other part is with kids...sometimes observing, sometimes counseling, and sometimes struggling with them to keep them safe from their own behaviors :noway:

    seriously though....i LOVE my job!
  • I'm a meteorologist, but not the TV kind. Right now my job has extremely strict deadlines so I'm beginning to readlize how much I actually sit.

I am a school psychologist in a high school - so desk job here from 7-3pm (or longer on any given day). While I do love my job - I've noticed that when I had a job that was more mobile - weight came off A LOT easier....

Desk job here, too....however whenever I go to the restroom at my office I make a point to go outside and walk around the building and back to my desk. Since I'm drinking ALOT of water I am walking more and it's showing up my stats. My co-workers think I'm on the crazy track but hey...whatever it takes, eh?

Desk job here, and two little ones at home, so that doesn't leave me much time for me. Weight has been a struggle for me since I became a mom.

    Same situation here.

I'm a baker for a very popular gluten-free bakery in town. I make all the cookies, and also bread for wholesale orders on the weekend. I have the "joy" of working opposite shifts for the usual bakers. Start at 2 PM - 10:30PM 3 days a week, and then 8-5 on the weekends. I'm on my feet non-stop (no time for breaks), and do a lot of heavy lifting. Figured the weight would just melt off when I started while watching my calories, but no such luck yet :P

Worked in banking (investments) all my life until 2006. Decided to take a year or two off to travel on our Harley. That two years has turned into almost 6! But going to take a job for 7 months in the mountains as a campground host! So excited!

Desk job...I move around more than a "Normal" Desk Job, but I still dont move that much, and sit most of the time...I enjoy my desk job, but NEED more activity in my life....Unfortunatley staring at a computer all day makes me sooo tired, than I go home and take care of my 8 month old little girl.

I'm a writer. Two books out for purchase and hopefully two more out by the end of the year. When I'm not writing I'm a mother two, soon-to-be, two little girls.

I do see lots of desk jobs! I'm also at a desk 8-5 M-F doing administrative work for a university. Used to work retail, and never thought I'd miss it, but I miss moving around. I get an hour lunch and since I do have the privacy of my own office so I'm actually going to try to a few things in here. Isometrics, yoga, and brought in some 5lbs weights and a tension band. Also have a pair retired tennis shoes for walks around campus. I'm still pretty new to MFP (and probably on it more that I should be at work) but it is nice to have the support at my finger tips when I get the e-mail telling me about the doughnuts in the conference room!

I must admit my alterior motive for the post was to see who says they love their job and who hates it. I may need some ideas later on :-)

Clinical Research Coordinator. Desk job for sure. Sometimes I see study patients. But sitting on my butt at work has not hindered my progress and success one bit!
